I have to start with our server, Cody P. He was exceptional! Walked us through the menu, was kind, professional and exhibited wonderful service. The food was fantastic. The restaurant offers a great happy hour, beautiful views of the lake and outdoor seating. It's pretty loud in the restaurant so be prepared for that. Wide selections to choose from on the menu so there's something for everyone. Glad we had to opportunity to stop in for happy hour.

We're visiting and our local friends recommended this spot--great call. We came here Saturday evening and they had a live concert in their dazzling side venue. Met about an hour before sunset and got seated by the big windows overlooking the lake. Drinks came out fast and the food followed quickly. We ordered two appetizers and I had the blackened cod special--everything was really good. Views and good food!

Surprised and impressed will be my two words I'll use for the chicken fried snapper. I grew up in the seafood industry and seafood in landlocked locations never goes well in my opinion. This fish was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The creamy pesto was earthy, light, and complimented the snapper very well. The Brussels were shaved perfectly and roasted very well. The rice was rice. Nothing special about it but the snapper was the main attraction and I would get it again. It can easily be shared. Our waitress Angel was attention and great to our party of eight. The tables behind us were easily twenty but she worked very well managing all of her tables. I went on a Friday evening at 6:30 with a packed restaurant but the food came out rather fast. The restaurant is big yet cozy. We sat in the back alongside the windows overlooking the lake and it was a great view. The only reason I gave a four is because all of the desserts we ordered to share were underwhelming including the sweet potato cheesecake, the blueberry lemon pie, key lime pie, and banana pudding. They were either overly sweet or lacking ingredients.

Dead Fish Grill at Lake Belton did not disappoint! We started with the catfish bites--fried to perfection, light, fluffy, and crisp--with tartar sauce that was spot-on. From there, we shared the Beni Flight, which came with three Benedicts topped with Hollandaise: crabcake, fried chicken, and one more classic. The crabcake was good (just not as exciting), but the fried chicken Benedict stole the show--tender, crispy chicken with waffles that were crunchy but not too crunchy, and just sweet enough. Definitely a repeat dish. The shrimp & grits? Oh. My. God. Pure comfort food heaven. Creamy, rich, and so good I found myself stealing bites back and forth with my friends. The catfish plate was also a standout, paired with surprisingly tasty corn. We finished with cinnamon donut holes served with a raspberry jam--and let me tell you, they were the perfect sweet ending. Light, fluffy, and rolled in just the right amount of cinnamon sugar, with that jam tying it all together. Of course, brunch isn't complete without drinks--we had mimosas and Aperol spritzes, which were the perfect pairing. Our server was amazing, attentive without hovering, and the whole place was clean with a relaxed atmosphere. And the view--Lake Belton spread out in front of us--made it the perfect spot to reconnect with friends I hadn't seen in over three years. Brunch here is a must. Between the food, the service, and the lakeside view, Dead Fish Grill is absolutely worth the trip.

My second time was just as great! Great view, food and service! I highly recommend brunch here.

I'm updating my review for other menu items we had here. I still DO NOT recommend getting brunch here. However, we gave it another chance for the regular menu and were surprised and impressed. The Chicken Fried Snapper was amazing, I couldn't quit eating it even after I was full. The husband enjoyed his chicken fried steak as well. The Lake Sipper cocktail was nice and refreshing and my husband really liked his Bloody Mary. We got to enjoy a set by the window overlooking the lake, which was nice. We will return, especially for the snapper!

Came here a few times to meet some of my husband's family members for brunch and a date night as well! Great spot overlooking the Belton Lake area! Food has been pretty good as well whenever we come by! I've had a few different things and they had been pretty tasty and served hot! Their calimari is probably one of my favorites and their shrimp and catfish plate is also amazing, was definitely full after that meal! Drinks: Lake Sipper was good and so was their Bahama Mamma! Our servers had been pretty spot on everytime we've eaten there as well!! Parking: LOVE how they have so much parking!! If you have a water vehicle aka jet ski, boat, they have space for those as well!

Ok your server came smelling in cigars to take our order! Food was horrible no I do not recommend this place, you can't unsee their mess in the kitchen. People who were dinning didn't care to control their toddlers running around screaming so loudly. This is not a place to come and relax. I regret not listening to bad reviews. Too bad this could have been a fine dining shame on management and owner.

The restaurant has a nice, quaint atmosphere, including and indoor and outdoor dining area overlooking the lake. The service was prompt, friendly and accommodating. The was one minor mistake with my food that was corrected immediately, sincere apologies give. As for the food, I had Blackened Catfish over Garlic Mashed Potatoes, smothered in Crawfish Étouffée, with a side of Corn and Garlic Mushrooms, while just slightly on the pricey side, the food was delicious. The fish was well seasoned, with just a hint of heat and the Étouffée was superb.

You need to get the seafood platter. While priced at $28 (without tax), it hold true to the main pillars of seafood. It comes with catfish, blackened shrimp, fried oysters, fries, and all the sauces you can dream of. This with wonderful service and amazing view ties everything together beautifully.

Went here while visiting some family in Texas. We had a large party and made a reservation. Lots of seating options with a large bar. The view is why you come! It was a beautiful view of the lake! Our service was friendly and we got our food really quickly. I got a pasta dish and it was done well. Everyone liked their food. If I lived in the area I would frequent this place.

Do you still fire off the cannon and if you do what time on Sundays do you do it? My birthday is this weekend and would like to have dinner and the cannon fire.

We fire the cannon every night at sunset. That time carries anywhere between 7-7:45. Are you wanting to fire the cannon yourself? Please go to our website and make a reservation, and notate in the memo field you would like to shoot the cannon :)

How much is the frog legs and how many front leg can I get?

Sorry, we removed frog legs from our menu.

Are dogs permitted on the patio?

Yes! My husband and I have taken our Boston Terriers and I've seen many larger dogs, too.

Our bartender had a lot of great recommendations on what to order and also sang a lot, which was delightful. I ordered the Southern Chicken Sandwich and my husband had the Ranch Fried Chicken Club. We were both VERY happy with our sandwiches, but the fries were the real star of the show. Delicious. One complaint is that my sandwich came with chipotle mayo, but I thought it needed more chipotle mayo and asked for a side. I was charged $1 for it. Avid readers of my reviews (i.e. nobody) will know that I am often annoyed when I'm charged for a sauce, but charging me for a sauce that ALREADY COMES on my plate and I just wanted more of feels especially egregious. I suspect that if I had specified "extra chipotle mayo" at the time of ordering, I would not have been charged, so that is what I will do next time.

While exploring Belton I…read morenoticed this place on Google Maps, and confirmed their hours and location on their Facebook to make sure they were really there and open. We went here on a Sunday in late May (which is really getting to the end of crawfish season) for a late lunch when most other places had already closed for the day, we were the only ones there but saw a couple people get to go orders. They had a large covered area with picnic tables with buckets for the empty crawfish shells. We tried the "combo" (which came with 2 lbs crawfish, shrimp, corn, potatoes and sausage) to get a taste of their flavor. We did ask for no sausage in it and they said they would just sub corn or potatoes for it, but then didn't which was disappointing. However, the flavor and spice was perfect for us; lots of garlic! Lots of BIG ones too! We liked It enough that before we left Belton we went back and got 5 lbs of just crawfish to go to eat at home; unfortunately the 5 pounds we brought home were not as spicy and flavorful as the 1st batch we got; but we still really enjoyed it and it was a great value- the price per pound was less than anywhere else I've been in a while. After…read morerefurbishing I heard they changed it up a bit so I suggested to the hubs that we try them out for date night - and MAN were we Supremely happy we did!! This little place is completely redone inside to look like a high class bar and dinner venue!! We stared w the Ahi Tuna Crudo - super fresh Ahi tuna beautifully presented with a surprising and refreshing arrangement of pickled celery, and sweet Italian peppers, served over a delicate avocado puree and tiny dots of citrus ponzu. The plate was Beautiful! Our next adventure; lightly charred pieces of octopus atop slightly pureed cannelloni beans. Now this is an unlikely and unusual pairing, but it WORKS!! SPLENDIDLY!! And again, the presentation is beautiful Generous portions of octopus with a char that gives it a slight smokiness and perfectly cooked to make for a tender bite and with the puree? Not since Italy have we been so amazed!! The saltiness with hints of chilis in the background, the texture of the beans, the slight chew and smoothness of the octopus; an elevated flavor combo that knocks it out the Park! As we wait for our main courses the restaurant fills with patrons and I'm gazing around, noting the Huge pizza oven. It's rustic and beautifully made; tiny tiles overlaying its upper surface making for a gorgeous and impressive visual in the midst of the bustling kitchen. I love that it is used as a WALL of sorts on its outer edge. I also love that one has a view of the kitchen via a smallish viewing glass next to the oven. Another site is the bar! Now mind you. This is TEMPLE. But this bar, and really the entire inside of this establishment is something you'd expect to see in the bigger cities like Austin or Dallas!! It's Truly a class act!! White linen clad tables, servers dressed black and white, beautiful decor. Not something you would expect in this area!! Our awesome server Austin takes excellent care of us; taking the time to stop in often to chat and share with us his wanderings, life experiences, and Menu Expertise!! We love the interaction! And then Austin brings out our MAINS!! And OH MAN GUYS.... First up is the Osso Bucco. I've had Osso Bucco in many places; I've MADE Osso Bucco. This is PERFECTION. Not too much demi which is almost ALWAYS the case, in stead of Drowning in the sauce this dish gives just enough so that you can scoop up perfect bites of light and creamy polenta. Not a trace of its gritty source this polenta is airy and buttery smooth promoting mere corn to another level altogether. The Real Star here tho is the Veal Shank. We are presented with lavish portion - the shank bone is served with a tiny bone fork alongside; given to scoop out the unctuous velvety richness that is the inner MARROW!!! And when I say wow? I mean WOWWWWWWW The flavor of the shank is a consume of beefy richness with hints of herbs As much as I LOVE LOVE LOVED the veal tho? The homemade pasta stole it for me honestly. Now, my hubs and I are blessed enough to go to Italy a couple times a year, and we have YET to taste pasta like this!! La Riv makes their own pasta in house and GUYSSSSSSSS we tried the Pappardelle with beef rib; Gorgeous braised beef chunks swimming in a delicate jus and herb ricotta to mix in. The beef is melt in your mouth tender while the Pappardelle has a slight bite telling you it is FRESH!! I LOVE the texture of this pasta. It is my favorite of the pasta cuts and I just could not get enough!!! But I had to hold myself back so I wouldn't eat ALL of hubs dish!! We absolutely Love this little Gem on W Adams in Temple. The pizza is rustic style and such a treat. I was surprised the Caesar salad didn't come with anchovies as most upscale restaurants serve it like this. I did not care for the spice on the broccolini - I was not expecting it. The broccolini has a beautiful smoky charred flavor with pine nuts and they put some sort of spicy chili oil on it that I found distracting. Great wine list and cocktails but I wish they could expand their wine by the glass menu. Hopefully they offer a rotating seasonal menu because it seems they keep the menu pretty tight, which is ok with me as long as they change it up a couple times a year.
