This is an outstanding auto shop. I went there for years and they serviced my 1996 Neon regularly, and kept it going despite multiple problems over the years. After I traded it in for a 2012 Focus, they didn't see me for several years because I had a service contract with the dealer. But when that expired, I came right back, and they did my usual maintenance in record time - I was in and out in about an hour. They recommended two tires and referred me to the manager at America's Tire, who also gave me great service. I was in town over the Thanksgiving weekend and needed an a/c compressor replaced. No one was open on Friday, but I left a message via Dean's website, hoping to get some service on Saturday. In the meantime, I found that Al's 76 in Sunnyvale was open on Friday so I went there. On Saturday, Warren from Dean's called and asked if he could help. I told him that I already took it to another place and thanked him anyway. I didn't get service done there, but I appreciated that he took the time to call me back. I have Ford Escape SEL 2013, about a month back, there was some issue with Oil leakage & Wiring harness. Car was not in running condition, I hit the car Sunnyvale Ford for repair, they were not able to find out whats wrong with the car, asked me to pay thousands of $ on the diagnosis & repire, convinced for Trade-In in very low cost (thats their main Business). I was just mad!, when I searched, I found Dean's Automotive, I spoke to Peter about the issue, This guy is amazing, while discussion, he tried to understand the issue, then I towed my car to his shop, he worked on the car, he replaced the parts, he was informing about the issues and parts that he is changing, overall communication was very transparent, open and helpful to me understand the issue. finally my car was ready... and that too almost in half cost compare to Ford service center quoted !! I think this shop is the best shop I found in bay area as of now, these guy's are intelligent and knowledgeable about the car issues and their fixes, replacement of wiring harness on complete censored car is not an easy job. these guys addressed it perfectly. I have had my car serviced here for the last few years. Very pleased with the level of service. I made the mistake of going elsewhere for a major service and came right back to Dean's. They are very friendly and accommodating to what you need to get done on your car. They are honest about what needs to be done immediately and what can wait a while. Terrific staff. Got a ride to and from when dealing with vehicle drop offs. My car has never handled better now that my suspension has been overhauled. Its like a race car again!. I was in need of an oil change and was going to go to one of those chain places...then my co-worker showed me an undercover sting operation that had been done by a news station. Stopped me in my tracks. Then I look across the street and right across from where I work there's Dean's. It cost me about $65 for a synthetic oil change. They did a quick inspection since they had some time and replaced a light that I had that was out as well. Awesome service. They then went a step further and quoted me on the stuff that should be taken care of with the car and what was suggested to be done together to cut down on labor costs. I've heard horror stories about other oil changing companies (I won't name names), that advertise an oil change for $39 and when you get the final bill end up spending $99 for all the additional services they claim must be done to get your car in mint condition again. Well you won't experience this at Dean's Automotive. What they quote is you is what you pay! And they won't haggle you for additional so-called "must-need or your car will not run right services." My car runs as well as the day I bought it thanks to Deans Automotive. I have been taking my now 10-year-old car to the dealership for every service. I had no complaints. I decided to give Dean's Automotive a try. I had heard good things about their work and their service. Nothing prepared me for the experience. First, my car now runs as well as the day I drove it off the lot ten years ago. Hmmm! Second, they kept me informed of the progress regularly. I never had to call them to find out what was going on. They called me when they said they were going to call! Third, they drove me home and picked me up when the work was done. The price was very fair and the staff was professional and courteous. So then, two weeks later the check engine light came on in my husband's car. He went to the corner gas station mechanic who ran a diagnostic. We were quoted $900 to "hopefully" fix the problem. I called Deans automotive and drove the van over right away. I got a ride home immediately. I Brought my car to Dean's after hearing many good things about the shop and seeing that they have won "Best of Mountain View" awards for several years. I was having problems with my clutch so I had them take a look at it. They were pretty busy and couldn't look at my car immediately, but once they had a chance to look at the car, they diagnosed it quickly. I chatted with George about the necessary repairs and had them done. I picked my car up a few days later (they were closed for the weekend), and now it's driving great. What impressed me the most was a high standard of service. George and Warren (One of the owners) were very helpful and explained everything to me that was going on with the car. My daughter took her car to the dealership and was told she needed new brake pads. Dean's inspected it and told me the brakes and had a lot of life left, they just needed to be lubricated between the parts. Much cheaper than a whole brake job! They are friendly. They will do the job well. They will lie to you. I went in to get my tires rotated about a month ago. They did the job and said I should come back to replace the rear brakes. They said I only had 1,000 miles to go. I thanked them for the help and around 800 miles later I took it back. They called me a couple hours after I dropped the truck off saying I need front and rear brakes and that my axle was leaking. The total was going to be around $1,600. I asked them just to do the rear brakes until I could save up for the rest. They got me out the door for around $500. I don't mind paying for honest and quality work. I told them I would be back for the fronts in a couple of weeks. Since the cost was a bit high and I have some skills myself, I decided to change the front brakes solo. I bought the equipment and decided to take care of it today (in the rain). When I pulled the wheels, I saw the brakes....they were maybe 40% worn. These guys are right down the street. I have several older vehicles that will need consistent work over the next few years. Why'd they have to lie about a $500 brake job? What a waste. I get it. Most people are just looking for a smile and their car to be fixed when they pick it up. Most people will never know one way or the other whether they're being lied to. To some extent, I envy them. In any event, I'm disappointed. I gave two stars because integrity is hard to come by these days....in other words, par for the course to some extent. read more

Helping Deans with there IT needs monthly, over time I have noticed that they have excellent customer service. I hear George talking, ordering, and explaining what is wrong with their clients cars in a way that being a non-car technician, ...I actually understand him. They are not a company that will "burn you" on extra things that don't need to be repaired. Peter, Early, and their team were extremely accommodating to my last-minute walk-in. The other shop had a list of recommendations listed in their final invoice. The Dean's team re-diagnosed the car for a 2nd opinion and compared their recommendations against the other shop's. They were detailed and thorough and were primarily concerned with helping you than making a quick profit. I got everything recommended done that same day within just a few hours--for a walk-in! One star is more that they deserve. If you're into getting ripped off, these are your guys. Sure they're friendly but definitely get a second opinion when dealing with these guys. There's always a smile when your pocket is being picked. Being short of cash due to the holidays, I went to Dean's because they accept the Car Care One card (credit). My old Toyota had an oil hemorrhage. $1425.35 later I had new oil seals, timing belt and water pump. Before they started the repairs, they called me three times to say I need more and more work. I was told that I would need new rear wheel bearings for another $400 and a new starter ($324) I was later called and told that it wasn't the bearings but that I needed rear control arms (suspension) for $1500. After they fixed the oil leak I took my car to another shop for a second opinion and was told there was nothing wrong with the rear suspension but that there was still an oil leak from the valve cover gasket and the distributor, another $200.00. It makes me wonder if the problems were exaggerated by Dean's guy. When I showed the other guys the bill they laughed and told me that they would have done the job for $560. When I went to Toyota to find out how much the parts cost the gave me a quote of $375 for genuine Toyota parts as opposed to the $539 I paid Dean... for cheap parts? Certainly not genuine Toyota parts. I also wonder if the people giving good reviews are getting ripped off too and just don't realize it. A ride somewhere is cheap when they're over charging you and possibly doing work that you car doesn't need. I got a two year warranty but then again I've already paid for the work whether I need it or not. read more

OMG they did it again! I don't know why I'm having such bad luck with my car but a bolt came off my brake disc (or something like that) and was making this horrible grinding noise. I was going to have my car towed but Warren came out, got down on his knees in the rain and temporarily fixed the problem so I could follow him to his shop. I found Dean's by searching for Subaru near my house when i completely destroyed my front brake line. apparently I'm not the mechanic i thought i was. i had my car towed from my house when i wasn't there since i had to be at work, and i never got a promised confirmation of delivery call from Dean's. i think the price was ok, but i feel a like i paid a little too much. i was without the car for a week and a half while they ordered the part and installed it. i would have appreciated more updates on the status of my car, but i did like the fact that they came to pick me up when my car was ready. read more

Awesome service! First time customer because I am new to this area. Dean was really friendly and helpful. I just got my oil changed but they also provide a pretty in depth checkup for the rest of the car. After the change, they notified me of the conditions and made suggestions for changes but definitely did not try to force them. I really appreciated that. I haven't had that opportunity to get my car serviced here nor will I ever! Twice I walked over to Dean's and asked for assistance with my car and twice they let me down. I understand that it was a Friday and they were busy, but I was having problems with my radiator and just wanted them to take a quick look at it. If it was going to require immediate attention I would have parked it at Dean's and had them book me an appointment, but the guy who helped me expalined that they had three cars to finish with two mechanics on staff. I asked if one of his mechanics could look at it after he was finished at five and he said, "No, they go home at five." I was amazed that 10 minutes out of ones day is just too much. I see that they have sign hanging outside of their establishment that they have been voted the "Best in 2010," I don't think so! read more

My Mercury Cougar 2001 refused to start couple of weeks ago and I had it towed to Deans' to check out what was the issue. Turns out that the fuel pump and the fuel pump drive module were broken and needed to be replaced. Dean's also told me that these parts were under a Ford recall and that they have called Ford Sunnyvale to confirm that I could take the receipt to Ford Sunnyvale and get reimbursed, so I went ahead with repairs at Deans'. However, after the repairs were made, I took the receipt down to Ford Sunnyvale, and they said that I was not eligible. I talked to Dean's and apparently they did call Ford Sunnyvale and talk to a rep there, so it was probably miscommunication but still it had cost me $500. Dean's apologized so at least they're courteous about it. Also, the check engine light came on and since I had to get a smog check anyway I took it to another shop near my office. Turns out that I had a small fuel leak above the fuel tank caused when the hose was not connected correctly when the fuel system was replaced. I went back to Dean and they fixed it for free and also picked me up from my office and drove me back to retrieve my car. I had originally given a low rating to this experience but I am upgrading it due to this time. They took the car right in and had it fixed within two hours. They were really apologetic about both the Ford recall and the leak, and they're also replacing my gas cap free of charge even though it's not part of original work done. I feel that they have made up for the first time. read more

I've done the check engine light diagnostics in this shop for my car. Ended up with incorrectly assembled air filter and new fault code which was not triggered when I brought my car to the shop. They did not turn-off the check engine light. Also I did not get proper diagnostic report. I do not recommend this shop for any serious engine diagnostics. Update: Got successfully reset the engine light in another shop. This shop needs equipment/mechanic upgrade and learn how to read/reset diagnostics codes properly. read more
