I'm from Bay Area and one of the Thai restaurant owner in PH recommend this place as they used to worked together ! The food was delicious! We ordered the pad Thai, Eggplant with shrimp, Kho Coconut noodle soup and the roti/curry sauce. Everything was good. A bit spicy for my husband and they can't changed the spice. The eggplant was the medium spice that he was able to handle. We met the Owner JJ and she also comp us mango sticky rice. That was really nice of her. Came into Dear Mom Cafe for their soft opening and their food was AMAZING! We were blown away with the flavor in each of their dishes and the crunchiness of the chicken! The pickled daikon and carrots were refreshing! The Thai Paella was delicious, but may be spicy for some! They gave us complimentary mango sticky rice for their soft opening, which of course was also amazing! The service we received was beyond spectacular by making us feel welcomed. This cozy restaurant has left the best impressions! I recommend to everyone! We will be back soon to try everything else on the menu! read more

This is a sad one for me to write. I had high hopes after checking out their Instagram and hearing the heart behind the restaurant...we REALLY wanted to love this place. This was the worst "thai" food I have ever had. I got grandmas pad Thai and my sister got the fried rice with fried chicken. Pad thai noodles were starchy and overdone, the sauce was too sweet, and the flavors weren't balanced. It was almost inedible, unfortunately. I also find it odd for them to have GF options but no GF chicken? Chicken seems like a pretty basic protein to offer at any restaurant and they told me they can't make any of their chicken GF. The fried rice is not passable as fried rice--no flavor, no nuance, just plain rice with dry peas and eggs with a boring sweet chili sauce you can pour overtop? It was confusing. At first, I was a little annoyed by the wait time. They told us 6-16 mins, turned out to be more like 30 mins. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming, so I got over it fast. We get seated and order drinks and food within 10 mins. I ordered a margarita and my husband, a beer. When we got our drinks, I thought "what is this, a drink for ants?!" They were the tiniest glasses I've ever seen. I drank it in one sip. For $15, I was kinda hurt. BUT by the time we got our food, I felt like I drank 3 of those little tiny glasses. I was feeling good. Worth the $15 if your a light weight like me! The food was expensive, I'm not going to lie. But it was so tasty and filling. We ordered from the specials menu. We also got my son the kids plate. It was cold. BUT luckily for them, my son likes room temp food. The fried chicken was super crispy and flavorful. Don't just go off the negative reviews. The reviews are mixed on this site, and that may mean that service and food prep is just uneven. Our experience was not so good. We arrived at 5:40. We were seated at 6. Ordered at 6:20 after we finally had to wave the waiter (one of two--they are very understaffed). Got our food at 6;25, lukewarm. They were quite busy and understaffed for Thursday dinner, so we gave them some grace. However, while the crispy noodle dish was good, it had very few roasted veggies (mainly cabbage) and the Tom Kha soup was more sweet than spicy, with huge chucks of tofu, and mostly cabbage. This is fast food Thai food at high end Thai food prices. In terms of ambiance, the inside feels like a diner rather than the atmosphere at Noi or Wild Rose. read more

We had a great meal here. The vibe is excellent, they have some great plateware for their dishes and the cocktails & mocktails were A grade. As others have said, the spice level is pretty high; the eggplant dish we ordered was described as regular heat but was more spicy than anticipated so just bear that in mind when ordering. The food was really tasty. They use qr codes for the menu and it's easy to miss the specials. We didn't realize till we'd already ordered that there was a whole other section so make sure to scroll all the way to the bottom when checking it out. Terrible Thai food!! They call it "modern" Thai but all that means is they messed with something that is already perfect! Our whole table each got a different entree & they were all very underwhelming, dry, lacking flavor. The only chicken you can get is with massive amounts of fried breading on it. All the noodle entrees were nearly nothing other than noodles with a tiny bit of meat/veg as a little garnish. The tofu was hard as a rock. and the Mocktails were super sweet & not interesting. We liked it so much we came back the next day for dinner We were greeted by the waiter who seemed very happy that we were coming in to try their restaurant. I wanted to like this place, but while there were some highlights, it did not really hit the mark. Let's start with the good. Fried chicken! The wings and Mom's fried chicken are the best things on the menu. Nice flavors, perfectly crispy, with some incredible umami undercurrents. The middling... The pad kee mao had good flavor but for the price, adding baby corn doesn't really make it an elevated dish. The beef seemed low quality and kind of tough. The bad. The pad Thai is way too sweet. The yellow curry was thin, watery, and lacked depth. The panang had huge prawns that were well cooked, but only had peas to accompany them, the sauce was bland and it came topped with an overcooked fried egg. Everything was lacking heat. I wish them success but there is better Thai food in town. Nothing was horrible. The prices were high and nothing stood out as particularly special aside from the fried chicken. Went to Dear Mom for the first time yesterday early evening. After we ordered we waited a while for the food. We saw other tables (who arrived after us) getting items, but nothing came our way - and unfortunately no servers came by to check in. After about 35 minutes, a staff member came to our table and said the server forgot to put our order in and wanted to know what we ordered. She apologized, but there was no offer of a 'on the house' app to have while we waited. We thought they might comp one of our meals for the mistake, but they didn't. All we got was a single "sorry". Unfortunately the food wasn't very good. My Pad Thai was only okay - pretty much just noodles and a few pieces of tofu - not a single vegetable. With options like Sen and Wild Rose in town, there's no need to go to Dear Mom to get bad service and mediocre food. read more

Dear Mom Cafe serves yummy food made with fresh ingredients. The portions are on the small side so the value is not very good. The physical atmosphere is fine. I've been here twice. Sadly, the service and mood of the place is not good. When you enter, there is no smile, no greeting. No warmth. They are not happy to see you. The server is a food delivery person - they deliver water, take your order and deliver food - all with attitude of a McDonalds. Again, no warmth. And not once checking in after the food was delivered (such a basic failure that I am shocked). What so many restaurants fail to grasp is that their role is not just providing good food to customers. Their role is to facilitate an experience - an experience around food. Some customers don't care I guess. But the majority of people will return to restaurants that provide a good experience. Not the case with Dear Mom's. Dear Mom' was not very busy. I think I know why. They have damaged their own business with crappy attitude and service. I will not be back. I predict they will not be open in a year. I hope they can fix their shortcomings and prove me wrong. read more

Dear Mom Cafe had a cute, fun vibe. We ordered the pad Thai, drunken noodles and Thai fried rice. I had the "I love you 3000" cocktail and it was very good, but no one came around to ask if I wanted another drink (and I did!), so I had no drink with my dinner and we left earlier than planned because we were done eating and had no more drinks - with no sign of anyone offering. I thought the pad Thai was too sweet. I expected the drunken noodles to be a wide noodle but it was a skinny noodle. It was good but spicy - so beware. There was no option to choose spice level. While the food was good, I didn't walk away feeling like I needed to go back. I'm on a mission to not repeat any place in Bend until I've tried all I want to try! I am traveling from out of town and was so excited for my Pad Thai and ordered via Door Dash. My order was tampered with. The bag had been stapled and was not stapled when he handed me it to me. The chocolate lava cake had a hole in it like someone put their finger in it. Two of the to-go boxes had ripped tabs. Chicken was missing from the pad Thai. The driver sat in the parking lot for over ten minutes after he sent me the picture that he had my order Before he started driving. I called the restaurant to ask what their protocols are for stapling the bag and tried to explain what happened, they just kept responding with I need to call door dash. I know it was not their fault but I just wanted to know what their proctols were and how their orders leave the restaurant. This was very expensive order and I am waiting to hear back from door dash, hoping for a refund. I will not ever order from this restaurant again. Nor will I order from door dash!!! read more

Looking for some of the best Thai in bend, this is the place to be. Every dish has so much flavor and there's a dish for everyone. The wings are some of the best wings I've had, the fish sauce they use to dress the wings is most desired. Ok I have to say I was so excited to see what all the hype was about but sadly I was very disappointed. This restaurant was a total zero. Food a 2/10. Salty and fried. Over fried. Mixed drink was premade and had zero alcohol. Our food for 4 was served 10 min apart so we could not enjoy together. And to make it the worst they started cleaning at 815 and our reservation was at 730. Wtf?? And then they turned on the bright lights aka get out now. For 200 usd it was atrocious. Wow! Such a great spot. We came for lunch and I had a short window free between meetings and they were very quick with bringing the food out. We started with the spicy wings. I don't like too spicy and I'm not much of a wing person, but these were FANTASTIC! I think I ate more wings there than I have in probably a year altogether. For my entree, I had the glass noodle pad Thai. It was so good, a spin off of the classic which they also have. I can't wait to come back and try more items! read more

The staff is amazing and the decor is beautiful. I am so grateful to have this restaurant in Bend. I don't understand some of the negative reviews on here.
