I want to first start off by saying the ambiance and decor are beautifully done. The entire vibe of the place is exactly what me and my husband go for. We were only in chicago for the weekend and I was super excited to try this place. Unfortunately, that experience turned sour pretty quick. I tried to order off menu for a drink and the waitress wasn't having it. She redirected me a few times to the drink menu and offered suggestions. I politely declined them and she even left to "give me time to think" which was not going to change my mind. All I wanted was a plain old margarita. My husband is the more experienced drinker, not me. He had an old fashioned. It completely killed our experience there. We had plans for food and drinks there but we decided to leave and go somewhere else since I could not even get the type of drink I can handle. Waitress returned as we were paying our bill via the QR code. She immediately knew something was wrong and I simply told her we just felt like we didn't really belong there since my drink taste wasn't as refined as most of their customers. She tried to correct the situation by now offering me the margarita I originally asked for! I politely declined and we left. Dearly Beloved is an experience. It's teetering on the edge of doing too much but that makes it memorable. The drinks are as unique as you'll ever find and the space itself is cavernous, ornate, and varied -- certainly not the typical cocktail bar vibe. This is not the place for your classic cocktails. They have some twists on classics, but most of what you'll find is in a category all its own. It is very likely that you will not recognize most of the ingredients in the drinks that you order. The drinks are a Willy Wonka-type experience, in that they are disorienting, curious, magical, and overall very enjoyable. We came here at around 10:30 on a Friday night. Despite being relatively new it was quite busy, most of the prime seating already having been reserved. We were seated in kind of a no man's land, in the center of the space, which wasn't the best for ambiance but not necessarily bad either. The host and our server were both super attentive and helpful, which was impressive considering how many patrons were here at the time. As I mentioned, the drinks here are as singular and experimental as you'll find just about anywhere. We stuck to the signature cocktails part of the menu to get the full experience, but if you're not quite ready to dive into the deep end there is a "curated classics" menu with easily identifiable variations on more traditional drinks. To start, I got the Waiting for the Moon (Iichiko saiten shochu, snap pea infused glendalough wild botanical gin, sirene americano bianco, luxardo limoncello, cheese moon), bright and vegetal, a little citrusy, kind of like a garden in a drink but on the spirit-forward side. Perhaps had some white negroni vibes, if I absolutely had to compare it to a classic drink. I feel like I virtually never get edible garnishes on drinks these days (aside from martini olives) so the cheese moon (tastes like those flaky cheesy twists they sell at Trader Joe's) was fun. While with my first drink I kind of knew what to expect, I opted for a second drink that was much more of a wild card. I ordered the Beautiful & Damned (ritual sister smoked pineapple, amara di arancia rossa, matchbook squash, finochietto cordial, dandelion honey, fenugreek, freeze dried manuka honey), described on the menu as "resinous, complex, boozy". The base spirit is a smoked pineapple brandy, while one of the amaros used is a squash amaro. Where do they find this stuff?? 12/10 for creativity and innovation here. Unlike anything you'll ever try, in a good way. I can't remember the names of the drinks my partner got, but one was not great while the other was fantastic. I remember the first had some chai whipped cream type of thing and was way too sweet, and the second one was like this peanut buttery clarified-type thing that was really fun and tasty. read more

Was excited about this place because it is new and seemed to have some initial good reviews. I went here with my husband during their happy hour for drinks and also ordered a small lamb appetizer. So this is based on that experience. The interior decor is gorgeous! I love the ambiance and look and feel of the restaurant. The host / server was very nice and attentive. However, none of the 5 drinks that my husband and I ordered were good. I mean... they were arguably some of the worst cocktails we have had to be honest. I'm glad we tried this place during their happy hour because I couldn't imagine paying full price for them. The full price cost is pretty expensive, even for the location of the restaurant. We live in the area and frequent many restaurants / cocktail bars close by and the prices here were some of the most expensive we have seen for cocktails. The lamb happy hr appetizer we tried was ok, but extremely small and overpriced for what it was as well. There was virtually no lamb in the dish. Unless changes are made to the cocktail offering and prices commensurate with what is being provided, I likely won't be back for dinner and drinks. read more

It's opening week for Dearly Beloved and I had the opportunity to come in and sample some of their amazing dishes as well as their cocktails. The decor is very trendy and chic! I love the art. The ambience of the place definitely picturesque and I had to take a couples pictures for the gram. This group has created an amazing menu where they put a lot of thought into their food as well as the drinks. the drinks are definitely the star of the show with the cocktails being elevated to the next level with a variety of ingredients my favourite dish I got to sample was the MAITAKE KARAAGE. My favourite drink was the shadow laurels. The staff is well-versed in the menu and it helped me pick out the drinks that I wanted to try out. I will go just about anywhere to try a unique mushroom dish and wound up here! Karaage mushroom bites? A French onion ramen? I liked this place before I even stepped foot into it. The playful menu is executed professionally and more or less live up to their descriptions. However this is more true of the food than the drinks from our experience. The surprising standout of the meal was dessert - their Zen garden desert dessert is delicious. Not overly sweet and every spoonful brought a surprising complexity that had us going back for more. This was on another level entirely and I'll be watching the menu dessert offerings in the future. The space is dark and moody but it has a warm sincerity about it that makes you comfortable to settle in and soak up the atmosphere. Attentive and friendly service. Design: slays - this is Disney level design for a full 360 degree visual show. Dark forest fairytale Cocktailland. High artistry and opportunities in every section for that stellar Instagram shot. A few elements aren't as spectacular: raised seating puts folks crotches in the lower level seatings eyeline (EEK!), the men's restroom floor is reflective (free show!), and some of the elements will be fun to keep clean and without dust (I'm looking at you feather wall and fake flower ceiling). The edits that have been made on the space since it was @kikisbistro are great- especially the redesign of the doorway/entry, the textured "runner" built into the shiny black floor and the new bathrooms. Cocktails: a small curated menu of alcoholic and non alcoholic specials and a short list of their takes on classics - pricy (one cocktail will get you a bottle of mid tier liquor) and of the four we tried - predominately sweet. Interesting ingredients/ elements are tempting you to experiment and that can be a good thing- novel experiences make time slow down - but I lost the flavors and nuance in the end product. The Soda Pop (NA) is giving Calpico mixed with Ramune. The Two Wrongs has multiple insect elements - but I lost them in the syrup and smokiness. The place is cocktail forward so these are billed as the stars, but the design takes that podium spot. Cocktails come silver/second. It's going to be a pricy night out - and maybe hungover (much seeetness) next day. Food: it's not about the food - but they have some creative takes on things. I lost the nuance in the taste but presentation was thoughtful on many - of over sauced/messy on a few. It's a global tapas take - the list of offerings touches at least 7 countries dishes - but they didn't land as elegantly as I think they are going for ... but its cool, it's only their 1st month open! Location: parking can be difficult and there isn't much else's around to do/see (unless you live right here) as the area is pretty residential now. You can take the brown line and walk a bit, but I think they are shooting for is more of an Uber Black audience. Service The service was very attentive and I assume the many, 'many visits to our table to check in were both because they are training and freshly open. read more

Cool spot for drinks with great atmosphere ....Stopped in with friends and family on a Saturday night after reading about this place in a magazine article. The inside looks like a bar out of Blade Runner movie and the drinks are very well put together with interesting flavor profiles. We didn't get anything to eat but I'm looking forward to going back to try the food choices along with exploring more of the signature cocktails. While the cocktails are innovative, the one I ordered was flawed in execution and frankly a disappointment. The Imperial Ember comes with chili threads as a garnish - it doesn't work, drinking the threads is unpleasant leaving you needing to literally pick them out of your mouth and teeth. We mentioned to waitress that I wasn't enjoying it and there was no offer to replace the drink or at least remix/strain out the threads. Granted, I drank it all bc I didn't want it to go to waste, and the drink minus the threads was actually good. And also should add, the cocktail was served with an ice sphere in a stemmed wine glass, prone to tipping the glass and at some point made it difficult to drink when had to tilt the glass a little more to finish what I could of the drink. After being disenchanted with the signature cocktail - I went off menu for a whiskey sour with egg-white, while that was good, it was more expensive than a signature cocktail!! - I should have known the whiskey option was expensive but was among the only ones the waitress mentioned I recognized - so I went with it - no warning given that the drink would be over 30bucks! I felt totally taken advantage of as a consumer with that one. The only reason I give this place 3 stars is the ambience/vibe is really cool and swanky and the bartender was super nice and attentive (I grabbed first drink at bar when waiting for my friends to arrive) and they are very good about making water available/keeping water glasses filled. We did not order food while there so cannot comment on the food menu. read more

We really enjoyed our visit and the array of unique cocktails. If you want to try a drink you've never had before - this is the place. Servers were great and encouraged you to explore. I tried "The Offshore Pirate" and I have no idea how to explain the flavor...other than to say it was great. Each round was a new adventure. We snacked on the Potato Potahto w our drinks and it was a great mix of different flavors and textures. Ambiance speaks for itself in the photos - impressive. It was a great night trying something new and unique. These are hand crafted cocktails, so keep that in mind if you're used to the bar slinging you rum & cokes. The server started the night by saying "if the drinks aren't what you wanted we'll replace them" only to never come back after placing the drink orders. Luckily I liked my drinks but my wife didn't like either of hers ,1 of which as directly recommended by the bar tender. The vibes inside and decor is very cool but prices will be the reason I don't frequent here. If they dropped their prices by a solid $5 a person then I may want to come back, but getting 2 cocktails each with 4 people and the total being $240 is wild. read more

She not only offered to take photos of me and my friends as the place is stunning !! But also went out her way to check in on us at the table and see how our experience was going . Misha was our server we pretty much were sold on everything he recommended highly recommend to ask for him if you want a great server experience! We ordered several dishes a few photos I have attached the rest of the food never made it into the camera roll because it was that good ! To our surprise the chef stopped by the table. Seriously?? That's insane !! he was beyond personable,kind , genuine and thanked US for coming and ordering dishes I wanted to cry that's beyond nice to take time out of his busy day to come over To us I believe name is Kristopher ?
