After all the recent press, I had to get over here to check out a pie. I thought about going for lunch, when they also sell slices (a good idea that I'd recommend if you're in the area at lunchtime) but I always feel the best way to rate a pie is to have a full pie right out of the oven. While Detroit style is not my number one style choice, I do like it when it's a good one. I ordered the Pepperoni pie, named "Roni Jabroni." Ordered on the Toast app for pickup, it was ready right on time, taking 30 minutes. I arrived 5 minutes early to get a feel for the place. Pickup was super easy as there was a number of street parking spots right in front of the store. It didn't seem like a busy area, so I'm guessing this can be counted on, but not sure. It's a small store, well designed for the employees, and there are a lot of them. They have every station manned and seemed to be handling a large volume of orders... nicely done! The man up front (handling the orders) and the pizza chef both had a friendly and professional attitude. Remember, this place has no seating, and is set up just for pickup (or delivery). All the pizzas I saw coming out from the oven looked fantastic... just check out the photos! My pie was great, nicely cooked, excellent toppings, both quality and quantity, well balanced. The food here is so good. I've had several different items today I only got a photo of the one sandwich that's my ultimate favorite the honey buffalo sando. The red rum is my favorite pizza. I like their style of pizza is not heavy or super greasy it's flavorful, appropriate size and fresh af. I love their chocolate cookie. Wings are really good and the tenders are another favorite. The people that work there are very friendly always communicate and are on top of the orders. It's my favorite place to get food. read more

I've been wanting to try death by pizza for sometime now. They've been slinging pizzas from my favorite bakery in town, "two fat cookies". Well since they opened their own brick and mortar dedicated to death by pizza I knew it was time to finally get there. What better way to spend a night in with a death by pizza? We opted for the gandolfini which had sweet Italian sausages, caramelized onions, roasted red peppers, garlic and sweet sauce. it was hot ready for pick up when we got there with crispy sides as a Detroit style crust. Finally tried this hyped up pizza place! Meatball Burrata pizza. Yes yes and more yes. Crust was crispy, thick and airy at the same time. Garlic RIP sticks with a trio of delicious sauces. Soooo good we started munching in the car before we made it home! (Vodka sauce was my fav). Philly eggrolls were yummy but a little overpriced for only two.. The same question we all ask ourselves when googling death by pizza is the same, is it worth the price? In my opinion the pizza is good, but not worth the price tag. The flavor was there but lacked that deep impact which would make me crave it again. In their defense a whole pie can feed 2-3 people depending on who you bring. I would recommend going in for a single slice if you are looking to form your own opinion. If they can manage to lower the price to compete with other local pizza joints then I can see this spot becoming my number 1..... but until I hit the lottery I cannot justify spending 70 dollars for two pizzas! read more

I recently decided to try Death by Pizza after hearing some great things about it and reading reviews. With expectations set high, I ordered a Detroit style GANDOLFINI pizza for pick up. After paying nearly $40, I anticipated a top-tier experience, but I was left feeling underwhelmed. The flavors were decent, the dough fine, but super oily. Honestly, it felt more like a $15-$20 pie. Not bad, but definitely not worth the hype or price. Another downside is that you can't make any edits to the pizza (ex: no honey; can't do that) -- what you see is what you get. Overall, it's okay, but I wouldn't go back or go out of my way to order again. Definitely more options. I would give it 3 stars if I was willing to try it again but I wouldn't. I think they're hitting their stride and are even tastier than my favorite Prince Street Pizza and Emmy Squared in NYC!! This is my second time ordering from Death by Pizza and I thought the first disappointing visit was a fluke but the second time was just as bad. I also thought it's maybe my dislike of the pizza like product is because I'm from the Bronx and am used to excellent pizza especially Sicilian but I have had very good pizza in South Florida so its not locational factors - it's just that this is amateurish not authentic pizza where the dough is just not prepped properly and the ingredients are not helping. The pizza was heavy and doughy and didn't have the requisite crisp and despite Sicilian Pizza being thick it has an airiness that meshes well with a charred base and those qualities were lacking here. I'm always in search of the best pizza and there has been a lot of hype around Death by Pizza so this rainy Friday I decided to try. I ordered the mozzarella sticks with a side of vodka sauce, the enemy pizza which is a Detroit style pizza topped with mozzarella and a sweet marinara sauce and finally I ended with their half pound chocolate chunk cookie. The mozzarella sticks had a great flavor and I really did enjoy the vodka sauce. I only wish that the mozzarella sticks were fried just a little more gold brown crispy. The pizza dough was excellent. It's that light fluffy airy - probably the best pizza dough I've had in a while. The sauce was sweet, but the marinara sauce overall wasn't too sweet. It was just right. With the Detroit style pizza, I like the underneath to be golden brown which this was but the one edge was just a bit too charred burnt for my liking. Otherwise, it was the perfect pizza. I wish I could eat a half pound chocolate chunk cookie every day of my life. It was that great. Went on a Saturday, but the line wasn't too bad. As others have said there's a small lot nearby where customers can park. There is no place to sit down and eat.. you pick up and take out your order. We were super excited to give Death by pizza a try after they were recently recognized as the Best pizza in palm beach. It's about a 30 min drive from our home but we thought it would be worth it. We ordered 2 pizza pies and with tip and everything it came around to $80. Each pizza ranges from 30-36 dollars. Again we had no issue it's supposed to be the best pizza. We order the meatball and burrata pizza as well as the chicken parm ricotta. Place the order and the wait time was 50-55 minutes. When my husband got home the pizzas looked amazing and they were still somewhat warm, so we didn't reheat. Out of the two the best one was the meatball burrata, since it was more flavorful than the chicken parm. I kept on waiting on a amazing , out of this world experience but it was just ok... This was our fifth time eating at DBP. The other times we had a great server, who was always very friendly and took great care of us. Sadly he has left and is on his way to being a fire fighter boo hoo. Were seated by someone we thought was a manger. We were seven for dinner. Our server was Mario, the worst server we have ever had there. The food is always good and we love the pizza and appetizers. But we had to chase the server down and talk about someone who had no personality, no skills as a server and nothing to talk about it was him. Believe me this place is not cheap four pizzas, four appetizers and some drinks and our bill topped $200.00. I didn't realize it because there was nothing that said that the gratuity was automatic because of the size of our group. I didn't want to start anything becuase of not wanting to embarrass my family. So we just paid the bill. Once Mario brought over the computer and informed us that the gratuity was already included I now knew why he sucked. He knew he was getting 18% so he didn't give a shit about taking care of us and boy did it show. I told the nice people there that I was originally FROM Detroit and that the "Detroit Pizza" they advertise had BETTER be good! It was only "okay." Furthermore, we got their veggie pizza and after tax and a few bucks for the workers, I paid $38 for it! For one pizza?! Outrageous!!! The staff is really friendly, zero space when you walk in the door. My wife and I got four slices. My wife had a few bites and bailed on it. She is not fond of Detroit style.
