The food was horrible no flavor, over cooked onion rings, patty melt was only one patty 2 different slices of cheese, grilled chicken sandwich was dry and tough French fries were under cooked. It's walk in, take your own seat. Look at the menu, wait till they come and order. They don't hold your hand and pat it and guide ya along. This is a more of a greasy spoon that older people, bikers, and working people go to. Even saw a few families there. We sat down, looked at the menu and had ordered within 10 minutes. Not that hard to do; and had never been there before. Lunch starts at 11, we had breakfast. Price was good, as were the preportions. Spanish omelette, grits, rye toast, coffee, biscuits and gravy. I always enjoyed this diner and the food is wonderful. I have not been there since the Covid-19 outbreak in March. I went last week and there is no separation between the seats and none of the staff wore masks. Some of the guests had masks coming in, some did not. Reasonable prices with a wide selection. The food was pretty bland but I might go back if the other local breakfast restaurants are two busy. The service was poor as well. The restaurant had plenty of open tables and did not seem busy, however our waitress only came by to take our order and drop off the food/bill. Wow what a dump. Don't believe any of the reviews saying this place is good because it simply isn't true, they're either friends with/related to the owner or they were paid to leave a positive review. And don't believe the "coincidental" positive review that'll be left after this review either. Here it goes, my wife and I stopped in on weekday @ 2 pm there were four other customers there 2 could be overheard complaining that their food was cold. The atmosphere was ok but they seemed to be trying too hard with the decor, there's signs and pictures all over the walls and are a bit distracting. I ordered a cheese omelette, my wife ordered a tuna melt and fries. I ordered a coffee with my omelette and my wife ordered a water with her tuna melt. I added sugar and half & half (both from packets) to my coffee and stirred it. The coffee was not very fresh and I noticed mashed potatoes still caked onto my spoon. Needless to say I didn't finish my coffee. When the food arrived the waitress was placing my plate down and a piece of my toast slid off the plate onto the table. Instead of getting me a new slice of toast the waitress asked if I wanted her to get a new slice, I said that wouldn't be necessary. The omelette was ok, but the homefries (if you can even call them that) were terrible they were two inch rectangular shaped white potatoes drenched in oil with no browning whatsoever. My wife's tuna melt had no mayonnaise on it and the French fries were obviously cheap frozen fries that tasted horrible. Her water tasted like it came from a swimming pool (florida public water for you). The cook could be overheard saying to his co-worker that that was the first time he made fries. The waitress never came by to ask how our food was. And when we finished we sat there for 10 minutes before realizing we had to pay for our meal at the counter. In closing we will never be going back to the debary diner again. It's obvious that the owner doesn't care about his/her customers because they're buying the cheapest (which translates to low quality) ingredients. They're only concerned with the bottom line and it's evident in the food/service they provide for their customers. after passing this place a number of times we finally ate dinner there. I had the fried fish. I like fish and this was really really good. I also had coleslaw. I don't usually eat coleslaw but I ate all of it here. My wife had the Salisbury steak and she enjoyed it.the onion rings were really good also. If I could give this establishment 0 stars, I absolutely would. The staff was rude and the food was bland. If you're not a "regular" you can forget about getting any form of interaction with your waitress. Walking in to the diner, it was filled with signs and different decorations that appeared neat. The diner and staff give off a vibe that is anything but welcoming- unless you're a white male over 50, the waitresses only seemed to care about their usual customers. They did not check in to our table & were rude to other people coming through the door. That was just the beginning, the food arrived and it was mediocre. The food was bland, soggy, and appeared to have been bought in bulk and rationed out to customers. Our food came out wrong the first time, the waitress was annoyed that we wouldn't take the food that was given to us. I told her "no rush, things happened" and she sighed and walked away. When getting the bill, the waitress asked "done yet?" And then slapped down a reciept. She then left and went to clean the bathrooms. I waited until she came back to pay & she rudely informed me that we had to pay at the kiosk up front (which was fine). Then when paying I had an interaction with another employee who told me "well you'll just have to wait to pay because I'm busy". So I waited and paid my bill and she said not one another word to me. This was a poor experience and I would NOT recommend you go here. You get better food from a Dennys or a Waffle House. Don't waste your money here. read more

This is a solid place for breakfast. It's a nofrills, clean restaurant, with adequate service. You aren't going to get an overly chatty waitress (which I hate). This is the place for well made, home cooking. My husband ordered the corned beef hash w/eggs and toast. It was as good as the places we go in Chicago. He always out orders me, next time I'll definitely get the hash. My scrambled eggs were just right. Bacon was tasty. Orange juice was good. I don't like grits, my husband's we're particularly bland to me but he liked them. Only complaint was with the water: it tasted like sulfur as so many places do down here to me (a non Floridian). March 26, 2015 I stopped in the diner for breakfast based on a recommendation. There were 3 waitresses working a steady crowd. They all seem to be polite and attentive. My cup of coffee never got empty. My breakfast was cooked to order. The portions were generous. Everything seemed fresh. What more can you ask for? There is obviously a regular customer base from retired folks in the area. The waitresses seem to know most of them by name and those they did not know they called sweetie or darling. Started going a few times a month for dinner and it has been amazing. The service is top notch and the food is amazing so much better than normal diner food more like high end restaurant food. Prices are great and you get so much food with the specials you get your entree and lots of it - soup or salad and side and dessert and rolls. I had stopped going a couple years ago when the service and food both went down hill but once it sold and new owners had time to get things back in shape i started going again. When ever I come to Florida to visit my Dad we have our breakfast's here and some of our lunches. The waitresses are efficient and friendly and seem to address many of their customers by name. Ordered the corned beef hash, 2 eggs over medium, hash browns, toast and coffee....egg whites runny, hash browns stale as though they had been made the day before and reheated today, corned beef hash tasted like came from a can. Husband and I decided to find out what all the buzz was about with the diner and were totally disappointed $17 and change with the tip $20 for breakfast that was less than satisfactory. We wanted you and Rick to know we met two strangers on Sunday. We were talking about a good place to eat. We mentioned the Debary Diner. The man said "I can't believe what the owner did for me!" I said oh you must mean Angie. He replied and said yes. The man said we go in every Thursday and on the weekends for breakfast and just recently I wanted steak and eggs. The waitress told me they were out of steak and I said I had my heart set on this good breakfast that I eat here every time. She said I will be right back. The owner, Angie came out and said I have one dinner Filet that was going on the menu tonight and if you really want a steak I will cook it for you! The man replied and said, "I would love it" and he added that it was the very best steak he has had anywhere and wanted Angie and Rick to know this. I said I will tell her as we go in there on Mondays usually. You two are the "very best" needless to say have helped us out tremendously as well and always have our birthdays set up for us. We usually go in for the all u can eat fish on Friday night. The fish and Cole slaw are normally pretty good, but the pre-package tarter sauce in the worst think ever to put in your mouth. I worked in many restaurants when i was younger and they never bought pre-package crap like that, homemade is always better. Also Debary Dinner has a habit of running out of items during dinner. This is the only restaurant that i know of that constantly runs out of food and does not seem to care if you have to order something else other then want you wanted. You always take a chance of ordering something they just ran out of, sweet potatoes, prime rib, steaks, vegetables, etc that was on the menu or specials. read more
