Our kids split a buffalo chicken pizza (strong gorganzola undertone) and the other had a slice of Margherita. Better than just decent! It's a cleaner, fresher and less undergrady version of Momo's Pizza. (Apparently there's some connection between Momo's and Decent, but I forgot the convoluted tale.) Their NY style pizza is good (doesn't quite compare to the greasy goodness of a slice of pie at 2am in Manhattan from a hole-in-the-wall), they've got good brews on draft, and the not-too-loud music is an eclectic mix that'll keep you wondering what's coming up next. I love the name of Decent, so apropos. I have eaten at Decent since high school (which was a while ago...). It still tastes the same now as it did then. I ate there three times in one week (don't ask...) and it was consistent, not the best pizza ever, but certainly hits the spot. Decent Pizza in Tallahassee sits squarely on the end of the pizza spectrum farthest away from Dominoes. It's the best pizza in Tallahassee and a pretty good place to hang out in, too. Booths run down one side of the space and ovens line the other. Tattooed, mustachioed guys throw pizzas the old way behind the counter, and they make all the sauces and bread right in the kitchen (i.e., nothing's shipped in). Black Sabbath is as likely to be coming out of the sound system as Steve Earl is, and they have Dr. Pepper in the old-fashioned little bottles (the 8 oz. kind). Along with rotary phones, asbestos ceiling tile and rubbing dirt in your wounds, smoking in the kitchen has gone the way of the shag carpet, but this is the kind of place in which I wish it were still OK. It would fit it. Their pizzas are huge - really big; but you can order by the slice and they have a few beers on tap to wash it all down with too. They close kind of early for my taste (9 on weekdays), but it's worth the effort of getting there early to have a bite. Decent Pizza is good. I love that they use Bradly's for their house sausage. It's what makes them a solid three star for me. That is impressive. They get a three star from me for a few reasons, their crust is a little off for me. It can sometimes be undercooked when we get a specialty pie with more toppings on it. When we go to pick a pie up, it is almost never warm by the time we get back home with it. Even if we watched them pull it out of the oven as we paid! My BF place is very close so this is always so strange. No one likes to have their mouth burned with cheese, but if the pizza cannot hold it's warmth, it isn't being cooked all the way through. But really what annoys me is the lack of substitutions. Sometimes we want to trade out veggies on the Decently Supreme pizza. If we want to remove bell peppers for mushrooms, there is a charge. Not a slight "change fee" charge. A full charge as if we are adding the mushrooms. Now, I completely understand food prices vary. I would never ever expect to trade out a veggie for a meat without an up charge. However, if you want to change a meat for a veggie, there is still a charge. How can we not trade Pepperoni for mushrooms? They are really strict about this too. We go because my BF likes their pizza. Should have listen to the name of the place and stayed away. They place is run down and old. Booths are all broken up and torn, dark ragged as you look all around. Usually pizza lunch specials are 2 slices and a drink for around $5. This place has one slice and a drink for around $8. Each individual slice is $4.25, again usually slices run for about $2-$3 for lunch. I ordered 2 slices and a drink, the slices were a good size, but paper thin. The pizza is crispy around the edges, but the taste is bland and the sauce is they got it out of a can in clearance. The slice had spotty places of cheese missing. For a college town, it's way over priced for pizza...and as a pizza guru, this places isn't worth it. read more

So, about 8 of us tried to go out for dinner the other night. We were cranky, hungry, and tired. Unfortunately, the Caribbean place we wanted to go to was out of rice. We drove around for about 45 minutes, got lost a few times and then finally got so annoyed with each other and the circumstances that we pulled into the closest restaurant we could find, which happened to be Decent. The pizza was awesome and huge! Everybody needed a to-go box, and most of us only got one slice. The atmosphere was fun, totally full of hipsters. There was a girl in a bikini selling $1 PBR's and a group of guys building a giant pyramid out of the cans. I first went to Decent for pie day in 2018. It was one of the first pizza restaurants I had been to in Tallahassee. I had not seen any pizza slices so big before! It was like it's own pizza. I love the toppings and ingredients to choose from to make it my own. It made an impression and we've been back many times. The staff is super nice, and so ready to take a min. To make it worth the trip. Alyssa is especially fast and really helpful always asking if we're doing alright and if we need anything. She went out of her way to take care of us. I appreciated that. Decent Pizza is more than decent. It it one of the best pizzas in Tallahassee. I can see why the people of Yelp have graded the atmosphere to be "hipster" as this place is kind of a pizza dive, with the pizza makers working their own dough at the bar area while the cashier serves up cups of draft beers including good ol' PBR. I like the atmosphere, definitely casual, and it looked like a diverse crowd dines at Decent Pizza. The (men's) bathroom is pretty disgusting, if that matters to you. But the PIZZA! We had a large, their version of a Supreme, and it was delicious. Big slices, almost like Momo's, but with a thicker yet airier crust. I really like what they are doing with their pizza dough here. The toppings were also all delicious. We also had an order of their cheesy breadsticks, which were generously covered in cheese and large for the under $4 price, BUT I would recommend getting an extra sauce as the cup they have just isn't enough to share. Prices are reasonable - about what you'd expect from an independent pizza place. Large specialty pizzas in the $20 range with a basic large being about $5 cheaper, but keep in mind it's the toppings where they always get you. They also have calzones and salads. Also, while Decent Pizza doesn't employee delivery drivers, you CAN get this food delivered by using the local food delivery service. They have a website. I haven't used their service so I wouldn't want to give them a straight shout-out, but you can Google it. So what you have at Decent is a VERY Good pizza served in a divey, yet friendly local spot in a popular area of town. Decent Pizza is a misnomer. Their pizza is DELICIOUS! Great dive pizza place with cheap pizza at the right price. I've even tried their vegan pizza and it was delicious (I don't know how they made soy cheese appetizing!) All of the toppings taste so fresh and the slices are well portioned and the sauce is amazing. Let me start by saying I'm originally from LI, NY so I'm a bit snobby when it comes to good, let alone, "decent" pizza. Decent pizza is just that: decent. They use too much sauce and not enough cheese; the slices are by far not greasy enough. Go to any place that actually has good pizza, fold your slice, lift it above your plate and tilt the cheese side to you. You will soon notice a small pool of grease, dripping off the slice, forming on your plate: not so here, more than likely, as said because of the crucial cheese to sauce ratio being off. Dough/crust is pretty good; sauce is too sweet. Slices are a good size. Pretty good beer selection for a pizza place. Also, I'm not gonna lie, it annoyed me to be in TLH, FL and pay just under $10 ($4 and change for a regular slice) for one reg. slice and a beer; bit much for alright pizza. read more

Best pizza in town. Pizzas are good, huge, and cheap, with 4 people we leave for under $20. The service is really good and fast and they do call aheads, which are great if your short on time, I usually just call when I'm in the car on the way there(only restaurant # in my cell). Best atmosphere for an inexpensive place in the city, from about 7-9 it gets busy but not bad enough i wouldn't go. Great music although a little loud at times (not that I mind but someone might) I go more than once a week on average and the variety makes it never boring. I grew up in northern New Jersey, about an hour outside of New York City, which is to say that I grew up in pizza country. Pizza chains were not prominent in my hometown. Everybody I knew ordered from local mom & pop pizzerias. I moved to Florida in 1999. I have not had pizza even close to as good as New Jersey pizza until I tried Decent Pizza. Others may tell you that Momo's is the best in town, but I think they use too much sauce. Decent is where it's at for my money. The pies are insanely huge, so much so that me and four of my friends (all of us dudes that can eat a lot of pizza) have trouble finishing their large pie, which I think is 20". The crust is excellent, just thick enough. The sauce/cheese ratio is perfect, and the toppings are pretty cheap considering how many they pile on. My personal favorite is their meatballs. The pizzeria also plays lots of fantastic music. read more

We've been bringing our daughter here shortly after Decent first opened when she was tiny, and this year she's turning 19. This is the only place she will go for pizza.....we moved away for a few years and when we came back to Tallahassee this is the very first place she went. The crust, the sauce, the toppings are all wonderful , and the people working there are the absolute best. We put in a Togo order and ordered a beer while we waited. After 40 mins. we asked if they could check on our order. The waitress checked the top of pizza oven and our pizza had been waiting there. My husband noted he saw the pizza chef put it there over 20 mins ago. When we finally got home the pizza was cold. Very disappointed since we love their pizza. Pizza was "good" . A Slice is bigger then your head and if you want to walk away full one slice will do just that. Pricing was good, nice selection of draft beers, BUT there needs to be more attention paid to cleanliness, and be prepared to wait a little as the pizza is made fresh which is a plus.
