Decent pizza is my favorite pizza in Tallahassee. Sunday-Tuesday is buy one get one draft beers with the purchase of a medium or large pizza. I typically try to go on one of those days. They always have a good selection of beers which I appreciate. They have local, regional, and beers from national breweries. The staff is laid back and always great. Pizza is thin and very flavorful. The ingredients taste great. I like the flavor of the sauce and the dough. The cheese is good as well. The crust is usually crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside and has good flavor. It's an all around great experience every time I go. My favorite toppings are pepperoni and fresh basil. The pepperonis are large and thin. I like the restaurant as a whole. It's sort of grungy in a good way in my opinion. It has character and definitely doesn't look or feel like a chain, just people who make good pizza. Also their garlic knots are really good. I definitely recommend this place. If I ever moved away this would be one of the restaurants that I would miss. read more

This really is the BEST pizza in Tallahassee - quality ingredients, great crust in a fun "dive" kind of atmosphere. As far as I can tell, there's no frozen or pre-made garbage here... the giant hobart floor mixer behind the counter and guys tossing up big circles of dough attest to the fact that Decent knows how to make good pizza. I've had the $4 slice for lunch, and that's plenty food for just about anyone, and the 16" medium is easily enough food for 2-3 starvin marvins, or 4 regular hungry people. Over the weekend, I visited with a friend, ordering the 16" (medium) margarita pizza (sliced tomatos, mozzarella, basil, garlic) and with two beers it came to around $23. Not as cheap as some other pizza places in town, but IMHO, that's still reasonable for such good pizza. Don't let the somewhat rough exterior (or interior for that matter) deter you. The cooks and counter guys are friendly, and once you're inside, you'll realize that most of the walls are covered with kids' drawings that have been taped up. Its great people watching too, there's always an interesting spectrum of pizza connoisseurs - from sorority girls to dirty hippies to bikers to grandparents out with their small grandkids - its all good. read more

If you don't mind a grimy, run down atmosphere, this is a great place to get pizza. I'm not from NYC, so maybe I just don't know any better, but I love their pizza. As I said, the atmosphere sucks and in the summer, you'll probably sweat a little bit as the A/C is insufficient in most parts of the restaurant. If you have to sit in back, pick the table outside the cooler as you'll get a blast of icy air as employees go in and out. If you're in a group, you may not find sufficient seating as most of the seating is booths with bad springs and tables too small to accommodate a large pizza tray along with condiments, napkin holder, and the small pizza trays they try to pass off as plates. Oh, and if you do need a table for seating, don't go on Sunday evenings. The restaurant reserves the few available tables (except for the one by the cooler) for a church group. Despite deserving one star in most categories, I'll still eat here on occasion because of the pizza (the sole reason for a three star rating). read more

Decent Pizza should get real and change their name already because these guys know how to make a damn good pie. Let me start off by saying that the service was excellent. We arrived about 5 minutes after their BOGOF Craft beer deal ended, but they were nice about it and allowed us to get it anyways. We then ordered a large supreme pizza and found a table by the wall. When the server brought us our pizza, it was LOADED with toppings and crisped to perfection. I took one bite of my first slice and knew straight away that we weren't going to have any leftovers to take home with us. Every bite had an evenly spread out amount of toppings and the pizza had the perfect amount of red sauce. The crust was crisp and complimented the whole pizza. Of course, we also got a few cups of ranch to supplement our pizza which I believe was $.50 per. Love! Our go to for a large, quick meal (we also love Momo's, which is similar, but this is much closer to us). Service is always decent (ha) and the rotating craft beers are a nice touch. This is my favorite place in Tally to get a vegan pizza! The prices are fair for the size of the pizza and the staff is always super friendly. The atmosphere is kind of grungy but still comforting. The pizza here is not the best I've ever had, but it sure beats the chain restaurants like Dominos or Pizza Hut. Decent Pizza feels dirty with everybody's beard hair whipping as they toss pizza dough, and the owner lets her long blond hair flow as she touches it before she proceeds to handle food. Yes, I have witnessed this first hand. I used to like this place a little more, but the few run ins I've had with the owner has turned me off. The rest of the staff has proved to be helpful, but Carol Raley (owner) has to be one of the rudest individuals I have ever met. I went here with some friends one Friday night and it was busy as expected. After we ordered, waited an hour, saw people come in after us, eat, and leave, we decided to ask about our order. When my roommate told the owner that people had come in after us and already left, she gave him attitude and said, "That's impossible." Since when do you tell the customer that he is wrong? We saw the owner talk to the cooks, who all gave back confused looks, and suddenly got back to work quickly. Then, miraculously, our food was ready after an hour and a half of waiting! No one apologized for the wait, no one admitted to forgetting our order, and no one at my table was happy at all. I will still return to Decent Pizza because I like their topping choices and their big sized pizzas feed a group quite nicely, but I'm definitely a lot more satisfied if I do not have to deal with Carol Raley. Oh and after I wrote this review, I received a lovely inbox message from the owner that read "You're a very nasty person." That sure is one heck of a way to treat your customers. Good service and decent pizza...pun intended. Pizza is better than the chains and some of the other local establishments but not the best in my opinion. The sauce also was had a little too much salt and garlic in my opinion. However my kids liked it a lot. The Stromboli was good. It reminded me of 3 Guys from NY that was on Tennessee Street several years ago. We ordered take out so I didn't get an opportunity to check out the restaurant vibe but seemed family friendly what I did see. Prices were very reasonable. My husband and I used to love Decent. He used to live right around the corner and we went there all the time. But the past two times we have been there we were very dissapointed. The staff wasn't helpful or friendly. I ordered a caesar salad which cost close to $5. It was tiny and came with a tiny package of parmesian cheese (like I had bought it from the grocery store). Also, if you only want water to drink they give you a tiny plastic refreshment cup. It was ridiculous. The slices that have cheese put on them when reheated, don't have great flavor or texture. They are also ridiculously huge to justify an almost $5 price tag. Crust was decent though. The whole pies look much better, but the sauce was too sweet to make any of these pies really good. The atmosphere is very hip, and I might return without too much protest. I would never get a slice here again. Given there are two places in town that make these ridiculously huge bad slices, Tallahassee must be in the middle of a giant bad slice war. read more

Since my husband and I started dating three years ago, we always enjoyed Decent Pizza, and told every friend that this place you have to give it a try. Though some of our friends are really into momo pizza, we always tried to convince them that decent pizza is better! However, last night it is the worst pizza experience for us ever... We were both starving, after around 7:30pm I called them to order a large size pizza( a combination of devil Sweet chicken and Alfredo chicken), they told us it would be ready after 30ish. We wanted to give them enough time so when we drove there the pizza can be ready. We arrived there after 45-50min, but what they told us was they are so sorry that they did not put our order into the system...I was really disappointed but I did not want to give them a hard time and just wanted them to fix this. Their attitude was really nice, told me so sorry but they ran out of large size pizza dough, but they can offer us two personal size pizza instead of a large size pizza, and they told me it would be done after 10min. It sounds like a pretty good deal right? I thought the same when I was sooo starving and did not do the math right. And even they said the price is the same. (To convince me it is a good deal) Well, when I went back to our car and told my husband about this, he was totally mad at me, and said it was such a rip off. And after 15min I got my two personal pizza I totally agreed with my husband... but I still did not want to give them a hard time so I just took it and left. Today I did a thoroughly math, first is about the size, two personal pizzas are not equal to a large size one at all! Even not close! The square of the large size one is around 645 cm2, and two personal size pizzas are around 465 cm2. And the two personal size pizzas price is slightly expensive then the one large size pizza. I must left this comment here cause I hate to be fooled. Went with a group of 7 and they had a perfect sized table and the service was great, and the food came out fast. We all got personal pies and I got bacon, pepperoni and jalapeños on mine. With a drink it costed $12. Good price because I could only eat half of it and I have the other half for lunch! Disgusting food and terrible service. Please, take your business elsewhere. After waiting ages for my single slice of pizza to be prepared, I took one bite and knew something wasn't right. The pizza was extremely salty, as in, too salty to even be edible. My tongue literally burned from how salty this pizza was. When I confronted the staff about it, she said, "Sorry, but I don't know what to say." No refund. No offer to make another pizza. Nothing. It almost seemed like she thought it was MY fault! Decent pizza, but deceptive pricing. The pizza itself isn't bad although do not trust the pricing on the site. Addutionally, do not expect this place to be honest about when they make a mistake. For a few years I have been a repeat customer here with no complaints. Always have loved the atmosphere and the pizza wasn't half bad. However, after a recent disappointing visit, I'm not sure if I'll ever return. I ordered a custom pizza, and went off the pricing on the website. My exact order was a large Pesto Base pizza with sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, and garlic. Based off of website pricing (as of January 2018), the pizza with toppings should have come out to around $25. After arriving at the restaurant, we were rung up for $31. At the time, I was so surprised at the price I don't think it really registered with me until I got home. Big mistake. As a side note, I don't think there are any pizzas out there worth $31.00, but back to that in a second. The pizza itself was average. They did a good job with the cheese and crust, but there was minimal pesto base on the rest of the pie. Almost like eating cheese bread with toppings. I used to be a line cook and a pizza cook and I get that management controls the portions, but come on, if you expect customers to pay such a high price you can afford to be a little more generous. Let's talk about the price. After calling back upon returning home with the pie regarding the crazy $31 price, I was informed by the front of house that there was nothing to be done. The cashier is not in control of the pricing by any means, and I don't blame her for the pricing, but I was not happy with the deflection when I asked to speak to the manager. What bothered me the most was that I was not asking for a full refund, only for a refund of the difference in cost between the misleading website and the true cost of the pizza. At first, the cashier snapped back at me and hinted that I was being cheap. When I explained to her the misleading prices it was clear she was unaware of the problem and she even mentioned that upon further recollection she had had previous issues in the past with other customers about the same thing. Nonetheless, she refused to put me through management. Honestly, from one ex-pizza restaraunt employee (of a different restaraunt) to the current ones, what's up with that? At my old joint, if a customer had an issue, we bent over backwards to rectify the issue and hear the customer out. There was always a manager on staff, and we never suggested a guest was being cheap or ridiculous for asking for a refund due to a mistake that we made. To the new ownership/management of Decent Pizza, you lost a reliable customer. I'm not sure if management will ever read this, and honestly most other people probably won't either, but if you've made it this far into my long review, then I ask that if you are considering this place, make sure you have deep pockets and are certain of what you want. The friendly staff is always willing to help and their pizzas are huge so you definitely get what you pay for.
