This is my first review on yelp but I knew I had to make an account and write about my experience! Mari and James were very welcoming, nice, and friendly. I came a little early for my appointment but since no one else was there, she started on my nails right away. She let me see photos of nails that she's done, and let me pick from tons of colors, charms, and stickers! The process took exactly 2 hours so keep that in mind if you have any plans afterwards! My nails were somewhat simple too so I'm sure more complicated designs will take a longer time. I'm super happy with my nails and I hope to be back soon! read more

My only complaint was that a lot of her photos on her myspace page are very old and she doesn't have a lot of those designs any more. I had my heart set on a leopard print design which she no longer offers. Mari is amazing and affordable. She does an FAB job and she's quick. I love the Japanese nail art look, but usually it is so pricey. I have been to all of the nice nail shops in LA that cost you over $120 just to get some nail art. Mari was able to give me amazing nails at a very fair price. I made an appointment to get minx nails by Mari, I called and spoke with her and told her I wanted to come in and check out her selection and scheduled a time and date to get them done. When I arrived, I was so disappointed. It was a hole in the wall spot, it was messy, and she had hardly any designs. I later called her and canceled my appointment over a day in advance and she told me I should have told her about this earlier and she hung up on me. WOW...thats customer service like I've never experienced, NONE AT ALL. I'm glad I did not go through with paying $50 for minx nails from her because I can tell just by the way she treated me upon my cancellation that she was not professional at all. I had a important event to go to and made my appointment a MONTH in advance(I even have a voicemail confirming the date I scheduled my appointment)!!! This is another long overdue review. My appointment was years ago so I don't know if this lady is even in business still. I've had a very similar experience to Chelsea and Andrea, and the other girls. I was recommended by a close friend because I loved how her nails looked. She gave me her number and I booked an appointment. Mari sounded very down to earth and kind. On the day of my appointment, she was none of these. Upon arrival, she looked super pissed off. Apparently, I was late. In addition, she only took cash which i did not carry with me, I only had my cards. This angered her even more. I love their design and variety of glitter. Really doesn't mean to be racial comment, but unlikely Vietnamese manicurists, she has more compassion to the customers' nails. Not as sophisticated as nail salons in Japan, but at least I can relax more not worrying about manicurist filing my skin off and bleed. I would love to rate 4 or 5 if acrylic nails are more durable. Not sure if it is the products they use or skills, but the edge of the acrylic nails seems to come out within a week. (Done it twice and both times) This nail salon would be my favorite if she can find the solution! Some of the customers seem to be offended by her husband but he has no intention of causing such trouble, just a little unprofessional and might not know how the salon receptionist is suppose to do, and it doesn't affect their professional nail skills so I'm fine with him. lol read more

I've been going to Mari for about a year and a half so I feel my review is pretty honest based on my experience. I was really shocked to see all those one star rating but I noticed that they were mostly from people who made an appointment but never got a service done. I have gone more times than I can count and I'm a happy customer. I get gel on my real nails and they always come out awesome. My last visit is the first time since I've been using their services that I had a problem. For some reason my gel polish started to lift the next day. Mari fixed one nail but unfortunately over the next couple of days they all did the same. I was hesitant at first but I let them know and they made a next day appt for me to come in and have it fixed. I had to come again but they were more than willing to accomidate me which is most important. I'm really appreciative of the service and great work. read more

She has many gel and acrylic colors not to mention the million different deco designs you can come up with. I recommend checking her Instagram to get ideas of what you want. I do love my Deco Nails by Mari. I get compliments all the time on them too! Ever since I saw firsthand how beautiful the nails are designed in Japan I had to find my local Japanese nail artist. She's still a 30 minute drive but worth it. Mari is capable of elaborate 3d but I like simple yet elegant. Her place is private, airy and right off 405fwy. I saw a few flaws the first time and her husband James gladly offered to squeeze me in to correct it. The second time was much better so that's why she has my full support. OK, so I needed to wait to right my review until I had the time to do Mari justice. So first of all, I've seen her work before but never thought I could afford her. I'm glad I inquired further and was pleasantly surprised to hear she charges very fair prices. I was shocked because the first appointment I tried to make was for 630 AM. I cannot believe how booked she is! I booked pretty far in advance and ended using vacation time on her lol but sooo worth it. She's booked solid and I read that she likes when people come early so I made sure to. I chose a very complicated little twin star design that I had seen on her Instagram and OMG she didn't even look at a reference picture and it turned out flawlessly. BTW, she doesn't just choose colors that will match your design... For my nails she had actual little twin star polish so the colors were exact! There are layers of gel, precisely applied glitter, decals... Bows made from sculpting powder! She works so hard and is soo talented. Also ladies... I forgot that I take a medication that makes my hands shaky. She's doing incredibly detailed work and she was sooooo nice about how much trouble I was giving her. Due to my nerves I'm sure I was shaking like crazy but she was patient and precise. I've been looking up nail art designs because I honestly don't think there's anything that she can't do. I want to emphasize besides the beautiful art that she produces... You seem to get good value because I don't think a single sparkle is going to fall off thanks to her layering technique. I just got my nails done by Mari and all I can say is WOW! This was my first time going to her and will definitely not be the last!! Mari has such a huge collection of deco parts, glitters, designs, etc that it's soooo hard to choose! I was trying to avoid looking through all her plastic cases of decos 'cause I'd want to have them ALL!! I advise anyone going to see Mari to check out the photos of her work on her website & Facebook pages first. There are sooo many possibilities! I'm already plotting for my next visit LOL. I work as a nurse and can't have too many 3D pieces, but oooh one day maybe for a special occasion or when I take an extended vacation I will treat myself to all 10 fingers being all decorated. Which brings up the fact that Mari's work is so flexible that she can customize a design for you from mild to wild. Mari applied Calgel with purple & pink glitter to my nails. She decorated my ring fingers with a 3D cute bow and rhinestone design. On my thumbnails she put the cutest Hello Kitty & strawberry design (which she had just brought back from Japan) with rhinestones. the plastic deco pieces were applied with a tiny amount of acrylic and then several coats of gel over everything to ensure they are not going anywhere. Mari's prices are very reasonable for this type of nail service when compared to other salons. While trying to decide on a design for my nails, she was kind enough to breakdown pricing for me...."this design would cost this, that one this" etc....so I knew exactly what I would be paying for in the end. Mari does nails by appointment only and it can be days to weeks before you can get into her schedule. So if you want to have your nails done for a special occasion or an upcoming holiday, it's best to call or text her way in advance to secure an appointment. Her husband/assistant, James, helps book her appointments and will call/text to confirm your time. When I sent a text to find out Mari's availability this weekend, I was initially bummed to find out that she was already fully booked until Valentine's Day. James offered to put me on a waitlist, but I figured a lot of girls are probably trying to get their nails done before V-day that I probably wouldn't get in for 2 weeks. But as luck would have it James was able to secure me an appointment the next morning when someone canceled at the last minute. Granted, he had called me early in the morning at 10:00 asking me to be there by 11:30......that gave me 1.5 hours to get from Anaheim Hills to Torrance! But I was determined to get my nails done this weekend, so my husband drove me (YAY FOR CARPOOL LANE!) and we arrived just in time. At first, the whole ordeal of trying to get in to see her at the last minute seems like a hassle, but then after seeing her work I realize well she's always booked 'cause she is THAT good! And I am thankful to her (and James) for being able to fit me in this weekend at the last minute. My only complaint is I wish Mari's location was closer to me!! But if I only have to drive out there about once a month or so for cute nails, it's not soo bad :-p And next time I will be sure to call far in advance to secure my appointment. read more

Soo basically here is the scoop on Mari. She is the most talented nail stylist there is! She is a perfectionist and does AMAZING work! I have been going to Mari to get my nails done for special occasions now for going on 4 years. She has the dopest designs, styles, colors, unique, trend setting nails a women can ever have. She also has amazing pricing I must say. She takes pride in her work and she spends her time on every single nail to make sure it is detailed and perfect. I have been to many many different nail salons and nail stylist and no one still till this day can compare to what she can do. She does not work at the most top of the line shop and I always told her if I ever decide to open up my own nail & spa in Beverl Hills or somewhere nice I am taking her with me. She is great you guys and has so much to offer you and you will for sure leave extremely satisfied with her work. You will have the best visit with her she is so pleasant and her husband is very nice too. Definitely the best nail artist and visit you probably will ever have. I highly suggest her and always have. Today was my first time having my nails done by Mari, and all I can say is....FINALLY! I'm so glad I have finally found a manicurist that says you can get whatever you want and actually means it. She has the widest variety of colors and designs I have ever seen. She was very open to trying whatever I wanted. I had gone in there ( as I have with many salons) not expecting to get what I wanted, but Mari was totally the opposite. I got exactly what I wanted and more. She even custom made me a 3d design because I didn't see one that I wanted at the time. And it came out perfect. And even better than getting good quality work, was getting it for a reasonable price. I was expecting to pay a lot more than I did (not that I'm complaining or anything). " Future customers BEWARE!!!! I contacted this woman via text to see when she had an avaible appointment for a full set of 3d nails. She responded with Tuesday Dec 21 at 9:30. I responed with great see you Tuesday. As I was on the fwy enroute I re texted her to tell her Im enroute to my appointment. She then responded with oh no your ap...pointment is for 9:30 pm. Once I read that I then pulled my veh over and made a phone call directly to her. To my surprise a man answerd the phone, I then stated my name and wanted to inquire about this 9:30 pm appointment because I have never heard of a nail salon being open so late. I told the man that I had a 1:00pm hair appointment. He then responded with well do you want to still keep your appointment at 9:30 pm I told him yes I will just try to expidiet my hair stylest. He also stated that he thought they maight have some cancellations and if an earlier appointment became avaible he would call me. I arrived at 9:11pm to a large with building that said Health on it. I drove into the vacant parking lot surpised because I did not see any nail salon. I noticed a white man walking into the parking lot so I stoped him to asked if he knew weather or not there was a nail salon here. He then asked my name and I told him and he said you cancelled your appointment and we are about to leave. I then stated I didnt cancel anything you told me you would call me if you had somthing earlier but I didnt cancel the 9:30 appointment. He then instructed me to drive around to the front of the building and he would let me in he needed to inform Mari. I then pulled around to the front and got my three year old daughter out the back seat and walked to the front door which was locked. After waiting for several moments I then called him because it was raining and I was just standing out in the cold with my child in a area I was unfamiliar with. He did not answer the phone. As I began to walk back to my veh he called me back to state you cancelled your appointment. I then told him no I did not and restated the earlier conversation. I told him that this was redicilous why would I come all the way out here in the rain with my daughter if I had cancelled my appointment. he then talked my in circles for about 5 minuets in which I could hear Mari screaming in the background. He made no apologies or tried to correct the situation. He then hung up in my face. I then got in my veh and left. Her husband then keplt texting me and I told him I was going to write a post about my experience with this business and that I wanted to file a complaint on the grounds of discrimination because he was rude about the fact that i had my child with me he never informed me that no children were allowd seeing that its not posted on their site and he also made no mention of this in his text. He texted me several times and I had to then text him to STOP texting me or I would call the police for harrasment !! Pleae look at what other people have written this man is a nut!!!
