    Jack at DeeDee's Cafe

We've been wanting to come to DeeDee's for a while. We're sure glad that we stopped in this morning! We received a very warm, friendly greeting, and all of the staff were very nice right out of the gate. We opted to sit outside as we brought our dog, Jack, with us. That said, our awesome server indicated that if Jack was well behaved, we could sit inside. (We opted to stay outside, just in case any of our fellow diners didn't want to eat with our dog.) It was a busy Sunday morning, but despite that, we received very quick and efficient service. Our server was nice, friendly, and attentive and definitely an excellent server. You could tell that she was experienced, which makes all the difference when serving a house full of hungry diners! The food was delicious! We both ordered omelette combos, along with a half order of biscuits and gravy to share. Holy smokes! Everything was great and we licked our plates clean. Jack, our dog, who received an order of two scrambled eggs, happily licked up anything that we missed. Five paws up for DeeDee's!

Decided to pop in for a quick bite at DeeDee's and was greeted very pleasantly. Thought I would just try the hamburger lunch special. Was a good meal even though my waitress brought me a salad after I clearly asked for French fries. Turned out it probably was a better voice, I won't fault her for that. She did get my drink order correct which is usually where it gets mixed up. I always ask for no ice and she came through like a Champ! Was and enjoyable meal.

Very kind folks, they take the time to figure out what you're going to love off of the menu and believe me, you're going to end up loving it. The home cooked meal feel here makes me miss my home!

Very friendly staff. Foods are great. I will be back every time I come to this town for Passport Renewal at the PO around the corner. This is a nice City.

Nothing beats grabbing an iced coffee on a lovely spring afternoon…read more I was in Jackson for some errands and wanted to check out the local coffee shop. It's been on my list for a while, but every time I wanted to go, it's been closed. Be forewarned that Boilerworks closes at 3 pm daily. The cafe sits in a quiet area at the end of Main Street, so it can be somewhat easy to miss. I ordered one of their specialty drinks, dubbed The Artemus, which is a hazelnut dirty chai with caramel sauce. There were no photos on Yelp showing the current menu and prices (until now as I'm sharing a photo of the menu), so I was a bit surprised by the cost of my drink. For a small town, I wasn't expecting to pay almost $10 for my chai. Note that I'm used to higher drink prices as I have plenty of boba, but none of my boba drinks have ever cost $10, however. I took it with a grain of salt and chalked it up to supporting a local small business. The nice lady/cafe owner made my Artemus for me super quickly, as I was the only customer. Her black Lab, which was adorable, was sleeping by her desk when I walked in. Upon receiving my drink, I took a seat outside at one of the metal stools. I didn't see the bookstore featured in the Yelp photos, so next time I'll have to return to check it out. The Artemus had a good flavor and thankfully, for the price, my cup was not full of ice (like some other big chain coffee place *cough cough*). Also, the iced drinks only come in one size (20 oz). To be fair, I think the drink is worth the price as it's definitely not watered down and it's taking me a while to finish it (currently typing this review while birdwatching on our property). All in all, while the prices are a bit steep, I would still recommend Boilerworks Cafe, and it's conveniently in downtown Jackson right off the 49.

I tried contacting them directly, but was unable to submit an email with their form--it kept erroring out. I suspect they don't want to hear any complaints. Went in for breakfast sandwich; ham, Swiss on baguette with dijon mustard. Got to my car, took a bite...NO dijon. Opened whole thing up...nothing. Went back in to ask for dijon (as stated in-app menu and on the label) and was told sandwiches are all premade and they do not keep any in their store. Took it home and added dijon. But the ham was sweet and way over-salted and it wasn't good, either way. Only thing good on that sandwich was the baguette. Their breakfast menu item quality has gone down. I used to like their egg, sausage and cheddar on English muffin--it was better than the competition. But last time I ordered one (about 2 months ago) the savory sausage had been replaced with a smaller, different maple sausage and it ruined it for me. Not a fan of sweet sausage and didn't appreciate the change. Given my experience today, perhaps someone in the corporate kitchen mucked it up. When I asked about it, nobody could tell me if there had been a change in ingredients. I can tell that store staff is also frustrated with corporate. Starbucks used to be a breakfast go-to for me when I have to travel in Valley Springs, but they can't even seem to follow their own menu when making their pre-made sandwiches and I couldn't even contact corporate to let them know they have an issue. Won't be doing any starbucks, anytime soon. I am usually willing to give a restaurant another shot after a mixup or change--which is why I tried the ham/swiss sandwich today. That is now two poor experiences in a row spread out over two months--one too many for me.

I wanted to enjoy a cup of coffee, so I quickly searched for local coffee spots and Mok A Java came up! This cute coffee shop is located in the historic gold rush town of Mokelumne Hill! When we arrived, we were greeted incredibly kindly by the owner. She asked us what we wanted and I told her we were down for anything. She recommended the caramel latte for me, which I wanted to add lavender to as well. She promptly obliged. My husband went with a surprise drink, and was presented with a wonderful brown sugar cinnamon latte. We both chose a large size for our drinks! Normally, the larges come with 4 shots of espresso, but I only wanted 2 as 4 is a bit much for me. My husband went with the normal 4 shots. Our drinks were out in no time. The coffee was incredibly smooth and well-balanced! The amount of ice was perfect as well. We also decided to support another local shop and purchased some spicy Cajun corn nuts crafted Moke Hill Nuts & Candies. They have been selling their snacks for over 20 years and are still going strong! A solid 5 stars for this amazingly cute coffee shop. If you're ever in the area and driving along the 49, definitely stop by Mok A Java for your coffee and snack fix. You certainly won't be disappointed! We will definitely drive down every so often just to support this cute little place.

You order up front before taking a seat and there is a good selection of sandwiches for lunch as well as coffee and freshly-baked goods. We missed the window for breakfast but they also serve made-to-order breakfast dishes. My husband and I just wanted a smaller meal for lunch that day, so we settled on the 1/2 sandwich and soup combo. While the portion sizes are on the smaller side, they were balanced and filling for what we wanted (as well as very reasonably priced), and we ended our meal with an in-house baked oatmeal raisin cookie. The cookie was huge and packed with oats but still delicious, with the proper texture and not overly sweet. Our sandwiches were simple yet delicious, with fresh ingredients and bread. The clam chowder was the soup of the day and so so good, I love when clam chowder has potatoes with the skin still attached. Our food also arrived pretty quickly, I would say within 10 minutes of ordering. Water is self-serve. We did not get a chance to try their coffee or the quiche that they're known for, but we will return to Sina's for sure and definitely recommend this cute little cafe for anyone looking for a quick, cozy meal in Sutter Creek!
