a ski lift in the distance

I've been to many snow resorts. This was one of the best meals I've had at a resort | ketofriendly mushroom Swiss burger with grilled onions | 1/3 lbs. pure Angus beef burger with Swiss cheese on top of lettuce and a slice of tomato buried under sauteed mushrooms and grilled onions | the only place you'll find it is at Deer Meadow Grill (DMG) on the slopes at the top of chair 6 | other #keto options can be found here, like salads and a variety of burgers made keto friendly by Laura | when you get up here, there a full bar , soft drinks, candy bars, and chips | so good to find keto options when many restaurants have no clue

It was a rather chilly evening so we requested to sit indoors. This restaurant looks extremely upscale, but the servers and the employees are all down to earth very gracious and willing to help. We were promptly seated and asked for a drink order. When our server returned with the drinks, he asked if we had any questions about the menu. We didn't and placed our orders. My wife ordered the Oakside burger and sweet potato fries, and I ordered the French dip along with sweet potato fries. The wife thoroughly enjoyed her burger. It was cooked to perfection. The bun was fresh and the condiments crisp. She also really liked her sweet potato fries. They were hot and freshly prepared. I ordered the beef dip that was served on a unique roll that was outstanding. It really set off the whole sandwich. The Ajou was great, and the fresh horseradish was on point. The entire sandwich tasted amazing. Also, I enjoyed the sweet potato fries. This was a very nice dining experience. We will definitely be going back again when we're hungry for something more than just sandwiches. Their menu looked outstanding with some great looking steaks and seafood. This is a great little location. Highly recommended if you're in the area.

Here is my story On one hand, my journey to big Bear Valley was defeated because snow was scarce. And, I had to learn how to find the bald eagles. That is my preference now on to oak side I'm guessing Oakside as the place to go locals and visitors alike. Street level is patio dining upstairs second level is covered and rather dark. Food menu is what anyone can expect from a local pub restaurant diner Same thing can be said about their alcoholic beverages or their non-alcoholic alcoholic beverages You do need to check in with the gal downstairs if you want to sit on the street level patio dining. Otherwise walk up the stairs and sit at the bar. Food was decent. Service was excellent. If I'm ever in the area again.(I'm sure I will be) I definitely stop in again

If you are a big person like I am, you will likely feel like a canned sardine, but once you are over that one minor snag, you will have a whole lot to enjoy here. Namely the portion sizes of everything. The waffles and pancakes here are ginormous. I ordered one side pancake and couldn't even eat it all after finishing my 1/2 sized plate of biscuit and gravy. So keep in mind, if they offer a 1/2 plate that means their full plate can probably feed two people and the half can feed one. Get here early because the place gets packed after 8 or 9. Honestly I would rate it 4.5 and if they had a patio or more of a spaced out floorplan I would bump it up to a perfect 5.

Here's why: we arrived at 9:50 for breakfast, 6 adults and my 2 year old. We put our name in, and were told it would be 45 minutes. 50 minutes in the heat outside goes by. (Two of the adults are in their 80's mind you.) We're really hungry lol. Two 4 seater tables finally open up in this tiny place. A small family of 3 shows up and knows the hostess (pixie haircut and piercings, don't know her name but can't miss her.) she waves them in and gets them one of the 4 seaters, no wait for friends I guess! 2 minutes later a third 4 seater opens up in the same row but she sat her friends at the one right in the middle. So they call our name and then tell us we have to separate our family to get seated and take the two 4 seaters on opposite ends of the table they gave away. They don't give a (insert your favorite curse word here). I guess it's okay though because they warn you on their menu that the staff might be moody lol! A great scapegoat for terrible service. Never again. Here's a tip to anyone reading: go literally 1 minute west down the road and eat at the first restaurant you see. They were phenomenal!

This is a low-key, "local vibe" kind of diner ~ do not go here for ambiance or high end cuisine. That said, the server was friendly and helpful with the menu. We both had burgers and fries/onion rings - I had the Ortega burger with cheddar cheese, 5/5, SO GOOD!! WILL GET AGAIN!!! I knew the burger would be good, this place is your "typical diner" - however, I was actually blown away by it!! Fries and onion rings were delicious too!! Salty, crunchy and perfectly cooked. Ranch sauce was fire too. My BF has been eating at this place for years now, and has nothing but good things to say about this place as well. We can't wait to go back soon and try the Mexican food, as our server recommended trying that cuisine. Based off these experiences and the friendly head nod from the cook as we left - we'll be back and will try something new. I actually look forward to trying breakfast there as well, at some point soon, as I heard the people seated behind us talking how good their waffles and pancakes are. Please try this establishment, I hope you enjoy as much as we did!

The food portions here are very generous, and the pricing is extremely fair. Just like any diner the menu is very large and has a lot of great options on it. Service was very fast and friendly, and they are true champions with staying on top of the drink refills. There is a large free parking lot right in front so parking is very easy and close. Inside is pretty small, they have about six booths and twice as many counter seats so if it is busy, you may have to wait a little bit, but it will be worth it. For this visit, I chose the Chili Cheese Omelette and really liked it. I wish it would've had less beans and more meat but overall I can't complain because I finished the entire thing. They also do four eggs for their omelettes so it is a bit larger than you will usually get. As mentioned the coffee is great and they will continue the refills the second you need it. It's located in sleepy Running Springs, which is in between Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear. It's less than a 10 minute drive from both locations so it is a really great option for breakfast when visiting. We will be back next time we are visiting the mountains.

We understand that's not ideal for most restaurants, but we would've rather been turned away than sat down and treated poorly. We walked into the restaurant and waited for someone to help us. Three different servers saw us, gave us dirty looks, and walked past. One of them rudely said, "why are you waiting here?" and walked away. Finally, we stopped an employee to ask if they would be able to seat our party. They bluntly told us we'd need to wait outside. We left, seeing that they clearly did not want to host us. Other restaurants were booked up for the night, so after walking around the village, we came back. They finally sat us at a large table outside. Our main waiter was friendly and helpful. The only decent service of the night. Another plus was food did not take too long, but the dishes were nothing worth returning for. The staff who came to take plates spoke to us with an irritated attitude. Not sure if the poor service had to do with the diversity in our group, but it sure felt like it. Not a positive experience in the slightest.
