Growing up on the mountain, Cedar Glen Malt Shop has always felt like one of those places that has simply been part of the landscape. The old school burger joint atmosphere and 1950s diner vibe give it a ton of character, and it's the kind of spot that feels comfortably familiar the moment you walk in. On this visit, the chili cheese fries were the star of the show. They were perfectly cheesy, generously topped, and exactly the kind of comfort food I was craving. The fries themselves were fantastic and held up well under all that delicious chaos. While plenty has changed around the mountain over the years, it's nice to have places like Cedar Glen Malt Shop that still deliver the same nostalgic charm and satisfying food that keep people coming back.
A true Arrowhead gem (or nearby, we were staying in Running Springs). If you find yourself craving a good burger with a clean, comfortable atmosphere, this cute 50's-themed diner is the place for you. The dining room is clean, comfortable and open. Service was quick and friendly...but the highlight was the food! Their homemade fries and perfectly battered onion rings were hot, fresh and tasty! The burgers were juicy and flavorful, but a tad on the greasy side - which was our only "negative". However, the real star of the show was their banana split! Our son had never had one before and this was the perfect banana split to set the bar! Not only was the presentation awesome, but the ice cream, banana and toppings all complimented each other perfectly (except I would say no sprinkles next time, not a fan of sprinkles). Their vanilla malt was creamy and perfect as well! Cedar Glen Malt Shop is definitely a solid diner to get your burger, malt/shake fix!

Stumbled upon this diner on Yelp and made sure to stop in when we were in town last weekend. Definitely felt like I stepped back in time when entering - greeted by friendly faces and the food & shakes are delicious!!! Hubby & I shared the Impala burger and this was sooo good - it had bacon, cheddar cheese, onion rings & BBQ sauce. This burger is perfection - drooling now just thinking about. The cheese pulls were insane. Fries were piping hot and so fresh. Ordered our kiddos a cheeseburger, Mac & cheese and strawberry shake and every single one of those were as delicious as the next! Our kids LOVED the cardboard cars that the food came in so much that we brought them home with us & now a part of our interior decoration . All in all, everything here is so good, fresh and the will definitely be back again soon for another shake!!!
A greasy spoon diner with 20 burgers on the menu, chili, and sandwiches with an extensive shake and malt menu. Prices were great and parking was easy. They take cards.
Great quality char-broiled burger with hearty and fresh ingredients. Satisfied my burger cravings. Cookies and cream malt shake was dessert in a glass. Love the old school diner vibes. Sparse parking!!
First time here, will I come back? Hard NO. The one guy who sat us was actually welcoming. I ordered the impala (bacon, cheeseburger with onion rings) and fries I ordered extra crispy. Burger was dry, and the fries? I mean, let's just call them thin, hard potato chip fries? They we extra extra crispy that I couldn't taste the Potato part! Oh and The soda was flat and warm! I even got a different drink the second time and still flat smh. Still left a 20% tip and as we left, I said thanks have a good day! & I think I heard the girls mumble a bye smh idk maybe their reviews are off of their desserts because it sure wasn't the food.

The ice cream sundae was so yummy and I loved the way it was presented!! The second time we came for dinner, and let me just say that the burgers here are huge oh my goodness!!! They were very tasty and felt like a good quality burger!! The service was nice and friendly, and interior was clean. It's a small spot, they have a small bar sitting area and sort of limited seating. Parking is limited and tight- just something to keep in mind if you go during dinner time!

The Cedar Glen Malt Shop is a great place to have a burger, shake, or sundae while visiting this mountain community adjacent to Lake Arrowhead proper. Prices are in line with similar establishments in the area, and the shop's hours are better (since most of their nearby competitors close several hours earlier). Although I haven't had a full meal there in years, they primarily serve a variety of burgers (cleverly named in homage to their 50s automotive theme) along with the usual sides complementing such eating fair. Several burger orders passed by my table while waiting for my sundae, and I must confess that I came very close to "chasing" my dessert with a burger after seeing how juicy and generously topped they were! Be aware, however, that the physical building is small, so you may need to wait for seating or elect to belly-up to the stools along the counter when near capacity. Seating a large party is, undoubtedly, extremely challenging. Similarly, parking is also problematic, with only a handful of small, narrow spaces in front (along Hook Creek Road). Suffice it to say, for most burger, shake, or sundae lovers this inconvenience does not come close to outweighing the reward of sinking your teeth into heaven-on-a-bun or voiding your Weight Watchers membership by indulging in a high-calorie frozen dessert of choice; for the few others who are unwilling to wait, take-out is an equally rewarding option.
Such a cute diner! Malts and shakes are addicting and the food is good too. I personally wouldn't order the chili cheese fries again because their regular fries are so good. Turkey burger was best I've had. Staff is very friendly! Parking is limited

Was looking for a great burger, asked around town and was highly recommended to this establishment. Let me tell you, the locals were not wrong. This is a must stop when you're in Lake arrowhead. I forgot the name of the burger, they use car names for the names of their burgers. I got the cheeseburger with bacon. It was amazing. Taste like high-quality meat, seasoned to perfection and the service is welcoming and they make you feel at home. I really wanted to get the double bacon cheeseburger with extra bacon, but after talking to the waitress, she recommended if I'm not that big of an eater, to go with a single. Let me tell you the single is very filling. If you have a huge appetite, Then go with the double. The burgers here are very well endowed and will not leave you craving for more. I look forward to stopping by this establishment again whenever I'm in Lake arrowhead. They have a cool retro theme seating area, reminds me of an old diner. We had a mini vacation in Lake Arrowhead, and this business was one that I was looking forward to. Why? A tasty thick malt sounded amazing, especially if the business is kind of known for it with many options. I had not had a malt in so long. I kept wondering when we could find a window to squeeze this in. We finally walked a mile over from where we stayed (a lot of this was uphill so that was rough for me) and we plopped down, ready for our malts. I ordered a rocky road malt and Steven ordered a chocolate chip malt. The server was surprised at the easy order she received as we did not order any food or anything. Yet, it still took some time. Finally the malts arrived, but unfortunately we were left so disappointed. Malts are supposed to be thicker than shakes, but these drinks were pretty much just melted ice cream. So, we are not sure if the orders were placed as shakes and still much more melted than other shake shops, or what happened. I felt like I was drinking melted ice cream with a spoon. Once I got through my glass, I didn't bother trying to pour more from my metal cup into the regular cup. I just started scooping from the extra stainless steel cup, hoping to save some thicker portions in there. There were a few, but not a lot. Since I was expecting a thick malt or something thicker than liquid ice cream, I devoured it pretty fast and now had a tummy ache. We tried it, but it didn't work out for us. read more

Great filling food! The burger are unique, tasty and stacked with ingredients. Really enjoyed the cookies & cream milkshake with food, was my favorite item. The inside definitely has style with the booths having pictures of cars from the area. Service was good, punctual, attentive and hospitable. Would definitely go again. read more

Points for cute place, yummy ice cream and great service. Minus points for my extra crispy fries and onion rings. They were to almost burnt. It had that almost burnt flavor. Burger was good but the fries and onion rings really disappointed my dinner. Luckily ice cream made up for it. read more

Small but mighty! Cedar Glen's Malt Shop is located right off the side of the road, you might miss it if you aren't looking for it. Parking is tight, you have to pull in to one of maybe 7 spaces located right out front, and the road can get busy. The diner is retro themed with Elvis and Marilyn Monroe greeting you on your way to the bathroom. There's about 6 booths in total, a few tables near the door and several seats at a bar - all in all very small! We enjoyed a few roadside burgers on our way into town, there was only one cashier who was also the waitress and busser - she was very polite and efficient. We enjoyed our lunch, glad we stopped in for the experience, not sure it's a place we'd return to if back in town - but we found it worth the stop in, there's not many diners like this now days, so it's always nice to feel nostalgic. read more

We'd been hearing great things about this place, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! My husband and I came in for the first time and will definitely be back. We were warmly welcomed by the staff, seated right away, and the service was prompt and friendly. The burgers were hot, fresh, and delicious, and the chocolate malt hit the spot -- though next time, I'll ask for extra malt powder. All in all, a great experience. This spot is officially part of our "date night" rotation on the mountain! read more

My first time at the Cedar Glen Malt Shop and I LOVED IT!!! It's a 50's styled diner with the music, decor, fantastic food, and great smiles! When it comes to burgers, this place came to play hard ball! They serve up 1/3 lb Angus beef that is absolutely tasty! I had the "Hudson Hornet" - a mushroom & Swiss burger with all the fix'ns. Dripping with deliciousness! The grilled onions really complete the burger (comes with). All of their burgers look great! My son had the Chevy Impala - a bacon cheeseburger with their awesome onion rings and bbq sauce. A MUST have at the Cedar Glen Malt Shop is their ice cream! They use THRIFTY's Ice cream!! Whether you go for their shakes, malts, reg ice cream or go big and get their Banana Royale (I did) or the banana split, you won't be disappointed or hungry! Another note worth mentioning, they offer a gracious Military discount. Just ask. Parking can be difficult to find especially right when they open. I've noticed people pretty much park wherever they can. This place is also very popular with the locals. Thank you Audrey & Candy for the great experience! The staff their love their job and it shows!! Happy 80th Anniversary Cedar Glen Malt Shop, I wish you guys many, many more wonderful years serving some of the best 50's Diner food around! The cheeseburger and onion rings were good. I put the onion rings in my burger and added barbecue sauce. The burger was big I ate half and saved the rest for later. I paid $20 for a burger, onion rings and a large drink. The customer service could be alittle more friendlier. I picked up my order and didn't eat inside but it was decorated cute and the booth seats looked comfortable. read more

This is a cute shop in the middle of the mountains. It has a 1950s looks to it and I liked how it was decorated. Definitely come for the ice cream, not the food. I got a tuna melt and it was probably one of the worst tuna melts I've ever had. I couldn't even finish it due to it being so dry it was sticking to my mouth. My friend got the chili cheese dog and he said it wasn't that great either. The French fries were also the worst fries I've had as they tasted dry, possibly over cooked and had no flavor to them. The ice cream tho was a big yes! I got the banana royale with mint and black cherry ice cream. That was so so good! read more

After a long play at the park it was time for an energy boost and sugar rush! A quick yelp search and cedar glen malt shop popped up. A classic old school style place it was part grill part ice cream shop. It carried classic fifties vibes with the decor and options from burgers and fries paired with a malt or banana split was perfect. The place was small and popping but with a group of 8 we were able to sit quick and order up. The malts were served in glass cups with the stainless mixer cups on the side with the extra ice cream. We did share an order of French fries and they were some of the best fries ever, hand cut, double fried with the perfect texture! The burgers coming off the grill was drool worthy so we will be making a trip again for a full meal! read more
