I absolutely believe this is still charming and wonderful. The family that has taken over is working very hard, always trying to improve on her new business here. I don't believe there are any gangster looking individuals here local or at the restaurant. The are so kind and always putting the family touch on the oaks service. This a mountain town and we all except all kinds of people. Once again the Monica' and her daughters are so kind and supportive of there local businesses

Love the Oaks! As a local in AO this is our only restaurant in town but we are super lucky to have Monica & Joel to provide us with such delicious, fresh cooked meals. I love many things on the menu... the chile relleno burrito is my current go to & chilaquiles are great for breakfast! You must try the chocolate cake for dessert too. My favorite quick bite is an order of fried zucchini... so good!! The Oaks recently updated their menus so here's the newest version 2025. We appreciate visitors coming to our little town so if you stop by be sure to support The Oaks!

We came initially because toddler needs to use bathroom and end up having a great lunch ! Ordered Poloze, street tacos, and kids pancake. I also had fruit pie and now I wish I bought the whole pie. Thank you for serving us today!

After arriving, we were greeted by warm hellos from the staff, which was followed by perfected service from our food server. As we waited for our food, the ambiance of the mountain community and the decor of the restaurant was a nice touch. I ordered the All American Breakfast, which includeded 4 slices of bacon, 4 sausage links, two eggs overeasy, hash browns, and sour toast.

I took the scenic HWY 38 for first time in probably 30 years and stoped at the Oaks. The owners Monica and Joel are fantastic and the food matched. I had the Hardshell Tacos , 1- ground beef and 1- shredded beef on home made taco shells. The beans were homemade as was the rice and salsa . A perfect 10 in my book and I am a big time Mexican food lover. I will make a point from here on out to come up HWY 38 and leave the same just to eat here.

The staff is amazing. Location is scenic and remote, great get away. The food we ordered was amazing. Menudo the best I've had in the surrounding area. Co-workers swear by the tacos (taco-Tuesday). Quite dining. Pet friendly. Highly recommend. If it's not your cup of tea. Fair enough. My recommendations aren't for you.

I ordered 3 taco plate (asked for fish) and side of rice and beans. This is what I was given, 2 shrimp tacos with rice and beans.

Passing through on our way to the Apple orchard and decided to get a little snack. We ordered the 3 Taco plate (I asked for fish) with a side of rice and beans and a slice of cherry pie. I was given 2 two shrimp tacos (whether they had fish or not, she didn't say). I looked at my receipt after opening up the box of food I ordered and realized she charged me $16 for "custom order" guessing that was for the 2 tacos and $6 for another "custom order" for the slice of cherry pie. I think they overcharged me for the order but silly me, I even left a 15% tip for carry out.

Amazing amazing amazing food! Their authentic Mexican food is unbeatable! Their tacos and their Molcajete are the best!

AMAZING customer service! Food was great. Awesome small town village vibe. Stopped by late last night and needed to feed 21 people and they were closed... they opened their doors and fed everyone of us before we went on our way! We had burgers, fries, zucchini sticks , and onion rings. Followed by a cup of coffee! Check these folks out.

After riding the motorcycle for hours to get to a nearby campground I too was exhausted to cook anything. I didn't find anything interesting at the general store next door so I entered The Oaks and sat at the counter. The waitress cheerfully brought me a much-needed ice tea while I examined the menu. The menu was full of standard diner fare at decent prices and there were quite a few items I wanted to try but I just didn't have the appetite. I finally ordered a pizza to go and admired the rustic mountain cabin decor while I waited. The locals seated nearby were friendly and the waitress kept my tea filled too. I got the pizza back to the campground and the smell finally got to me. I was surprised at how good it was. Honestly, I was expecting a frozen pie heated up, not the tasty treat covered in fresh ingredients that I ended up with. I savored each slice while I watched the sunset and cuddled by the campfire. I can't wait to go back and explore more of their menu.

We took advantage of happy hour and ordered the margaritas, which were delicious and a great value. We also happened to visit on Quesabirria Wednesday, and the birria was excellent. My only complaint is the regular drink pricing once happy hour ends. While I understand they're located in the Village and prices tend to be higher in that area, $19 for a margarita felt a bit steep. Because of that, we ended up leaving when happy hour ended. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the service, food, happy hour specials, and game-day atmosphere--just be prepared for higher drink prices outside of happy hour.

I think someone called off or was running late. The server was helpful and thankful for having patience. The shreeded beef burrito (no beans), wet style with red enchilada sauce was amazing. The margaritas were good and the atmosphere was relaxing. I would definitely recommend this place.

We saw this great looking Mexican restaurant and decided to pull in. We went in and the restaurant was packed. We could tell why quickly afterwards. We were seated and appeared. Something must've been going on in town and that is the reason for the extra amount of guest everywhere. The restaurant was a very nice looking newer style Mexican restaurant. We were seated quickly and asked for a drink order. Within moments chips and salsa appeared along with our drinks. After looking at the menu, we decided that we would split an order of chicken fajitas. The fajitas were outstanding. They had a great taste. They had a full amount of vegetables with them. They didn't come out sizzling like most fajitas do at Mexican restaurants. They were hot and the food was outstanding. At the end of the day, the service was good, the restaurant looked clean, and the food was great. We will definitely be coming back here again when it's a little less busy. Glad to see these restaurants busy up here.

Here's why: we arrived at 9:50 for breakfast, 6 adults and my 2 year old. We put our name in, and were told it would be 45 minutes. 50 minutes in the heat outside goes by. (Two of the adults are in their 80's mind you.) We're really hungry lol. Two 4 seater tables finally open up in this tiny place. A small family of 3 shows up and knows the hostess (pixie haircut and piercings, don't know her name but can't miss her.) she waves them in and gets them one of the 4 seaters, no wait for friends I guess! 2 minutes later a third 4 seater opens up in the same row but she sat her friends at the one right in the middle.
