The ambiance is comfortable with old-fashioned vintage dinnerware on the walls, homey curtains on the windows, and just an overall welcoming feeling, in addition to a lovely view of the lake. The service was very good, having a server who was attentive and made sure that we were always satisfied and wanted for nothing. This time I opted for a simpler meal called the Little Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs and potatoes, both of which were done beautifully! The eggs were light and fluffy and the potatoes have lots of seasoning and veggies included in them. Being vegetarian, I opted out of any of the meats, but found this breakfast to be very satisfying both for my taste buds and my stomach! I want to start off by saying that this review does not apply to the experience we had with our server, Abraham. Abraham was very nice and truly made up for the experience we had. Someone in our party checked us in by using the kiosks. When we noticed everyone else was getting seated we asked the front desk about our place in line. Front desk staff rudely told us, "You haven't talked to me." She followed up with multiple eye rolls . She was also very upset over the fact that we requested for our party to be seated together. Another server was upset about the fact that we asked a simple question. She also rolled her eyes and nodded as a response. I recommend to avoid this place if you do not want to deal with attitudes. Whenever we visit the mountain, this is a solid breakfast choice. We've been coming for years, so...time for a review! The ambiance is old-fashioned, in a good way. We killed the time by getting some excellent Bloody Marys at Jetties, just a few steps away. After being seated, the service was super fast. We got our food maybe 10 minutes after ordering, and the place was packed. The kitchen was really hustling. Food: Wife got the Little Breakfast, as usual. Waffle was nice and light, bacon was crispy, eggs cooked over easy, as ordered. Our two friends ordered from opposite ends of the spectrum. He got the Mountain Breakfast, which is a tremendous amount of food. Eggs, biscuits, sausage gravy, potatoes, etc. I'm not sure how he finished it. She got just a single waffle. But she enjoyed it. Finally, I went rogue, skipped breakfast and got the Reuben and Onion Rings. It was a sloppy sandwich but had plenty of corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss. Very tasy. The onion rings were better than I expected, lightly battered and crunchy. Also got a Bloody Mary here, which was nowhere near as good as the ones at Jetties. For starters, we were told this place was the best in the area and we took the trip from LA. The best thing about it, was the drive and the trains. The food was bland. They literally have seasonings on the table to season your own food to your own risk. Try each seasoning before you put it on your food so you pick the right one. I almost added salt seasoning to my waffles. Hot coco was made with pre mix and water. Kudos with the sprinkles. I expected the waffle to have flavor, but no. I was wrong too. I'm giving two stars instead of one because they are dog friendly-which was the only reason we chose this restaurant as we came in with our dogs. Absolutely no for thought is made when seating people with dogs, guests with dogs are seated at tables in the middle of walkways, and no thought is made about placing dogs next to other tables with dogs or very young children without any thought or forewarning. Service was meh. Our waitress was abrupt and and not at all welcoming or friendly. Ordered iced coffee and it was as light as tea. No refills of water or coffee wherever offered, our waitress never came back to see if our food was OK which it pretty much wasn't. The bananas were so hard and unripe they were in edible. Negative experience here and honestly really disappointed. My husband and I came here for breakfast before heading home from our Memorial Day weekend trip. We wanted to end our trip on a good note and were excited since we both love waffles. We also brought our dog, and from first glance, the restaurant looked very dog-friendly with the outdoor patio setup. When my husband checked us in, he specifically mentioned that we had a dog. Usually when restaurants accommodate dogs, they'll seat you somewhere slightly out of the main walkway so you're not in the way of servers or guests. Instead, we were seated directly in the middle of the main path where servers and customers were constantly walking by. We thought it was odd, but trusted their judgment and stayed there. Not even 5 minutes later, another family walked in with a much larger dog. Naturally, the dogs acknowledged each other and barked briefly. Our dog is tiny and only barked back in response after the other dog initiated it. During that moment, one of the servers walked by, glared at us, and said, "That's not gonna work out." The tone and attitude immediately rubbed us the wrong way, especially considering THEY seated us there in the first place. Another server then told us we needed to move to a table in the very back corner after we had already ordered and settled in. Honestly, that should've been the original seating arrangement from the start, but we still cooperated because we didn't want to cause issues or block traffic. Unfortunately, the service only got worse after that. The dogs around us kept barking at our dog, and we were genuinely just trying to sit down, calm him, and eat our breakfast peacefully. What frustrated me most was that it felt like ONLY we were being singled out for the dogs reacting to each other. Other dogs around us were barking too, yet we were the only ones getting attitude, comments, and constant corrections from the staff. While we were sitting down at the new table, my husband was adjusting our dog's collar before setting him down, and almost immediately a server came over telling us to "put the dog down" despite the fact that we were already in the middle of doing that. At that point, the constant attitude started making us feel genuinely unwelcome. Then the food came out and unfortunately it didn't redeem the experience at all. The Belgian waffles themselves were disappointing and had a strangely grainy texture that neither of us enjoyed. EXTREMELY BLAND! What really sealed the experience for us though was the service afterward. Nobody checked on our table even once. During the table switch, I accidentally dropped utensils and multiple servers saw it happen but nobody offered replacements. We were seated all the way in the back corner and it honestly felt like we were intentionally being ignored after being moved. My husband repeatedly tried to flag servers down, but nobody acknowledged us. Meanwhile, we watched nearby tables receive normal service. Eventually he had to walk up to the counter himself just to pay because nobody would come to our table. As we were literally leaving the restaurant, our server finally approached us and rudely asked, "Did you guys even pay yet or...?" in a tone that felt accusatory, as if we were attempting to dine and dash. My husband had already paid at the counter and held up the receipt. Overall, this experience completely ruined what was supposed to be a relaxing final morning of our trip. Not especially hungry we shared the Apple Annie Waffle ($15.50) a homemade waffle with cinnamon apples, cinnamon ice cream, whipped cream, nuts, and raisins, a treat as decadent as you might expect. The waffle was soft but tragically small, the apples good but not phenomenal, and ice cream decent. I suspect the only home made component here was the waffle. Accompanying this was a bowl of Chili ($10) which was decent, meaty, with a touch of spice. Doubt this was home made either, but was good. Service was friendly and very prompt, with us getting our meal in less than five minutes. View is excellent with a perfectly positioned patio overlooking the lake. Avoid any confusion with seating by going inside first (rather than seating yourself on the patio), where you will be asked your preference (inside or out) and will then be escorted to a table. Virginia was our waitress, handling the entire patio, and doing a superb job of taking orders, delivering food, checking on tables, and generally making every customer happy. While this is primarily a breakfast place, we came for lunch. They offer soups, salads, and sandwiches for lunch. I decided on a BLT and chose to have it on rye bread along with waffle fries. We also ordered a cobb salad to share. The BLT had toasted bread and crispy bacon. The lettuce and tomato were fresh. It was delicious but nothing extraordinary - it was standard but done to perfection. The waffle fries were really good, and while they had ketchup on the table, I instead used the ranch dressing that came with the cobb salad to dip them in. Speaking of the salad, it had bits of chicken, bacon, and ham along with olives, lettuce, tomato, crumbled blue cheese, and hard boiled egg. It was quite good and we were provided with two separate plates to share it more easily. It was a filling meal and I waddled out of there more than satisfied. My party ordered the Strawberry-Banana Royal and I got the Belgian Scrambled for myself. The Strawberry-Banana Royal was solid, just like most of the waffles I've had in my life. The Belgian Scrambled was pretty okay, though I've had better brunch plates. I can only compare it to the second installment of the Karate Kid franchise. Not only does this place have great views of the water, but incredible breakfast! We both got the scramble, which was huge, so filling, and so yummy. We both got extra crispy potatoes and I couldn't stop talking about how good the potatoes were. We also got a side waffle - and wow. This place doesn't mess around with the waffle. What an incredible performance by the Belgian Waffle Works Cast. After a cold and beautiful walk, I approached the Belgian Waffle Works spot. Right next to a beautiful ducks with trees and water too. May I also add that it was cold. Moving on, I discovered that they served waffles when I first skimmed the menu; what a pleasant surprise! I ordered Belgian waffle platter. We spent our a weekend in August at Lake Arrowhead for our second time and we had to visit Belgian Waffle Works again because of their waffles! We came here on a Sunday morning around 8am when it just opened, so it wasn't crowded at all. It's located in the Lake Arrowhead Village, overlooking the lake. Their breakfast menu has a large variety, so if you're not feeling waffles, you'll be able to find a dish that you'll like. The service was fast and the waffles were the best part. My kids ate their kids meal waffle and then some of mine. By the time we finished breakfast, that was when I saw the crowd rolling in to get seated. Beware of flies though!
