This is a diner style breakfast place that serves pancakes bigger than your head. The coffee is delicious and hot. Food comes out fast, huge portions and friendly wait staff. They all work together to keep your drinks filled and bring your food out hot. Nothing fancy here but it's a Great place if your looking for something hearty, with big portions!
Grizzly Manor Cafe serves up delicious meals with generous portions and offers a unique dining ambiance. You already know the food is good when you walk up to the cafe and it's filled with people waiting outside. I've been wanting to try this place with my family and we finally made the trip this MLK weekend. Arrived around 10:15 am on a Sunday and was informed the wait would be about two hours. Preparing myself ahead of time for the wait, I happily put my name down, received a table pager in exchange for my DL & went on my way to wait for my turn. About an hour later, the lovely staff members came by to do an attendance check to get a more accurate wait time. After 15 minutes we were called in for our table and the staff didn't waste time taking our beverage and meal orders. Everything came out in a timely order and tasted so delicious! Portions are generous and filling! Perfect for sharing (or not!) and will keep you happy throughout your visit to Big Bear! Glad we could make it up this past visit and will definitely be back for our next visits!
Been meaning to come here for years but it's always very crowded especially on the weekends. Obviously that's a great sign right? We went today, a Tuesday and found parking right away and a seat right away. Within 30 minutes it was packed and people waiting outside. They are very organized as far as wiring your name down and getting people seated in the order they arrived. It's very quirky inside, stickers and dollar bills everywhere. Plus a lot of military patches and stickers. I appreciate that. Music was loud but not too loud. Collective soul was playing when we walked in and eventually a John Anderson song played. I appreciate the mix. Service was quick and friendly, there was a vibe and every one seemed to work in sync very well. Nice. Wifey got the Spinach, ham, cheese and onion 3 egg omelette. Hash browns. Sourdough toast. I got the Burger, 3 eggs sunny side up and Hash browns. Sourdough toast. It had to be a 1/2 pound burger easily. Delicious. I appreciate a place that gives you more butter than you need for your toast. Overall what a great place and tons of food. No, seriously......... tons of food. Someone next to us got a pancake and it was bigger than my head!
Came here recently and this was the perfect spot for breakfast. We got the Grizzly Bear which comes with bacon, 2 eggs (we got ours scrambled), hash browns, and biscuits and gravy. We also ordered one blueberry pancake on the side. Word of caution, be prepared to EAT. My friends and I split everything but we still had leftovers. The inside is really cool, filled with stickers, dollar bills, photos, you name it from past patrons and really gives the space a lot of character! The service was super fast and the workers were all super kind. The vibes inside were actually so fun from the decor, the workers and the music!

Good old Grizzly Manor Cafe! Yes, it's a Big Bear institution that you must visit. The cafe is small and busy with a fun local vibe. Expect long waits due to its small size, but the food is so filling and delicious with huge portions and the fun and "sassy" friendly staff make it well worth the wait (shoutout to Charlie, who always made our family's visits memorable). Our family's go-to favorites that we recommend are: The Sissy Boy, The Mess, and The Blob. Really, anything you order is going to be delicious and LOTS of it! If it's your first visit here, a few helpful tips for you: go early before 9am or after 11am, and avoid weekends if you can as they are very busy. Come hungry as the portions are large. Be patient no matter what- it's worth the wait!

Now this Cafe holds true to the tradition of classic cafe's. I asked how long it's been open and it was in the 1950's and over the years it turned into a diner. There's some great history here and I love that they hold to the value of the classic diner breakfasts. Now it can get packed quick so you want to get there early, parking has a good amount of spots and there is a good amount of seating but if there is a wait ... I'd hang tight because it was worth it. Food wise you could not go wrong with country fried steak and eggs, I got the corn beef hash, you can ask to add sausage to you biscuits and gravy and their sourdough is perfect. Sometimes the food is good just be a of the vibes , the staff and heart of the restaurant and this place will be a must go to every time we go to big bear.

The only downside? The place is tiny. It only seats a handful of people, so expect at least an hour wait, especially on busy mornings. But honestly, it's 100% worth the wait. If you're hungry and don't mind being patient, this spot is a no-brainer. Come early or be prepared to wait--and eat good.
We checked this place out because we noticed the long line from the street. It was actually really cozy inside, filled with decorations and stickers. Although the wait was a bit long, you will NOT be disappointed with their food. HUGE PORTIONS. Even though we didn't get the pancakes, we saw it from others and was actually so big that I don't think I can finish it myself in one sitting. They are extremely generous, and will always make sure to fill up your coffee!! My waffle [9/10] was so delicious and not at all too dry. For $13, it was actually really good!! Give them a try if you haven't!!

Inside is pretty small there is a little bar top area where they sit some folks but there there are a couple tables around. You can see the cooks making your food right there in front of you. The waitresses are soo nice :-) and the cooks were great ( they even have their own little tip jar specifically for the cooks making, which I thought was great) Food came out super fast , portions are large and everything is delicious!!! Flavors were there and in point!! 100/10 would recommend grizzly manor to anyone!

Best brunch in Big Bear. I couldn't even finish it all and I'm a big guy. The pancakes were huge but delicious. The eggs were real eggs, a nice old fashioned breakfast. They could probably upgrade the coffee quality would be my one critique as they only had drip. The coffee was find though, not bad or anything. Definitely stop by this spot if you're hungry, but be ready for a wait on the weekends... the word is out on this spot so lots of people want it!

Great breakfast spot! The first time we tried to come by was on a Saturday morning and there was a huge wait, but now that I've had a meal I can say it's worth it! Our party of 2 built our own Cheese Omelet (Chorizo, Bacon, Sausage, Ham, Turkey, Mushrooms, Chili Con Carne, Ortega Chilies, Tomatoes, Onions, Jalapeños, Spinach, or Black Olives each available for a surcharge) with Hash Browns and Toast (choice of Sourdough, English Muffin, Wheat, or Rye) and added One Blueberry Cake--which was more than enough food for the both of us. If it weren't for the pesky flies relentlessly buzzing around the counter where we were seated, this review would be 5 stars easy. Small but comfortable, friendly staff, and amazing food. In fact, I'd say it was the best American breakfast I've ever had; and I'm 63.... So that's saying a lot. Go hungry and split the Fat Pat with a pancake on the side. read more
The pancakes were massive! They were bigger than my wife's head, and she's got a big head! We ordered Blueberry and Chocolate Chip, and they were pretty good, although I prefer a fluffier pancake. I had the Chicken Fried Steak, which wasn't bad, but could have used more batter. Some of the hash browns were a little overcooked. The cook with all the tats was amazing in the kitchen. He took our order and cooked everything. We had to wait to order to ensure they weren't overwhelmed. They definitely need some help in there. It was cool watching him work in the open kitchen. Be prepared for a wait! You need to sign in when you arrive. This place is busy all day long. We saw it packed every time we drove by. The only time the porch is empty is after 2 PM when they close. We would definitely come back and try some different dishes. read more

The Service: Service was fast and efficient. They quickly took our order and our food came out shortly after. There are waiters always around to flag down if you need something. Only downside is that it is very crowded so there is usually a wait. We waited about 45 min on a Saturday morning. The Food: Polar Bear - 5/5 I asked for crispy hashbrowns and they definitely delivered! Food was super tasty and portions were huge. You can definitely share a dish with another person. We took a bunch of food to go because there was so much. This place does breakfast food perfectly! Price: the price is definitely higher than expected for breakfast food but it makes up for it with it's huge portion sizes The Atmosphere: Small restaurant with a lot of character. There's stickers and dollar bills taped everywhere in the store. It is very lively but moves quickly. I would not go here with a large party unless you would be ok with being separated because of its small size. Parking: Parking can be hard because it is a small lot for a very popular restaurant. Really great restaurant. It is a bit on the smaller end but I think it was nice in the sense that it feels a bit more homey. There are stickers and photos all over the place from the different customers who come there I was seated right in front of the kitchen and it was interesting to see them cook everything. I got the the SOS and it was definitely enough food for me. It was really good The one thing about this restaurant is that it is extremely crowded. We went on a morning about 2 hours before they closed and had to wait about an hour for a seat for 2. The staff are very nice and very attentive to your orders. The parking is difficult to find in the area, but it was doable. Overall, I would recommend going here if you ever in Big Bear. read more

Portions are generous and food is delicious. One plate feeds two! We ordered via DoorDash and they hooked us up with hot sauce, ketchup, salt and pepper, and napkins!!! Everything we'd expect to be on the table while dining in. We enjoyed our breakfast and will order again in the future! read more

This is one of those "worth the wait" breakfast spots. Recommended to show up early. They don't have a ton of space but they're for sure one of the better if not best breakfast places you could go to. They have a smaller menu but definitely some great, hard to choose choices. The wife had the pancakes and a side of bacon. Pancakes are ginormous and the perfect cook on them. I had the corned beef, well done hash browns and the over medium eggs. (Chefs Kiss)!!! The jam packed, little quaint breakfast spot, pumps out a ton of breakfast, with fast and helpful service. One of my most memorable breakfast spots and the epitome of what corned beef & hash should be. We will for sure be taking another trip to Big Bear and for sure making at least one stop at the Grizzly Manor for breakfast. read more

Down to earth small spot. Great hospitality and service is quick. We shared a fat pat and it was still too much, but in a good way. Definitely will try it again next time we're in Big Bear...and will know to bring stickers too haha read more

Grizzly manor isn't anything special, but as the food options are limited in Big Bear - many flock here for a classic American breakfast. The restaurant is small, tight, cramped, filled with eclectic stickers that will have you staring at the walls. Parties over four are not recommended and you'll likely be five inches from the next party over. Not a restaurant for those that dislike crowds and cramped spaces. Visitors are warned of the long wait times (so keep that in mind!!!) It was a 35 minutes to get seated (not bad). A table seated after us were helped with their drinks and orders without anyone paying any attention to us. I wasn't too sure why we're getting ignored even though we made eye contact with the waitress...and we were immediately adjacent to the table helped before us. Eventually, 15 minutes after we had not been helped, I walked up to ask for service. We were helped shortly after by a nice waitress who im sure could tell we were all very annoyed. Some of our waters came after ordering and some came after all the food arrived. Interesting. The food was decent and well priced, but really nothing special that warrants a visit if this restaurant wasn't located in a spot with slim pickings. They only have one waitress, which is also interesting given business is always booming (hence the long wait times). There is an automatic 18% gratuity for parties over 5 (usually it's 6 in other establishments). This is not something I'd be normally bat an eye to, but for subpar service, it's definitely not something I'm pleased with. Overall: Food ok, wait is long, service is mid. read more

Worth the wait if there even is one. Great service & amazing food. I'm literally still thinking about the pancakes! Small little breakfast joint but they push out food fast. Super cool inside with fun stuff all over the walls. If you like jalapeños and mushrooms get "the mess"! read more

The food was excellent and plentiful. Wait staff, friendly and efficient. This place is a lot smaller than what I have imagined but as a breakfast, the ambience is great. The only thing to me that was a concern is the coffee. For a breakfast place the coffee should be way better. The coffee here is standard cafeteria style restaurant chain coffee. Very weak, kind of like hot brown water. My suggestion is to upgrade the coffee blend that you're using and charge more for the coffee. That's why it's not a five star review. Lost one star for the coffee. read more

If you are wanting a reservation best to do that online. Not unusual to have a 2 hour wait. Not sure what time you are calling but they also close at 2:00.
