Stan's Donuts was a lovely stop. Walked in and it smelled amazing right away. So much to look at too, all the pastries lined up, full menu on display. Took me a minute to decide. The vibe really stands out too. Dark tones mixed with pinks and those bronze accents, it all just works. Not your typical donut spot. It has its own thing going on. Staff was great, really friendly and patient. I ended up getting the hot chocolate. And yeah... this one stood out. You can tell it's made with milk, not water, which already makes a big difference. It was thick, creamy, and had that smooth chocolate flavor. Slightly sweet and rich, you could really taste the chocolate coming through. With each sip, it had that warm, cozy feel... We completed the stan's donut run a few years ago and loved the donuts at the finish line (we had the GF ones and they were fantastic!) While back in the area visit, we decided to come here. This was back in October and I still remember how nasty everything was, especially the coffee. I had a cold brew with caramel and ended up throwing it away it was horrible and bitter. My husband did not enjoy his pumpkin latte either. We tried a variety of donuts and they only enjoyable one was red velvet. Based on this experience alone, I wouldn't come back. I know Stan's is huge in the Chicago area so maybe it was just a bad day / location. I would consider trying the donuts again but definitely not the coffee. The location is cute and super pink! DO NOT use their drive through, no customers inside, two cars in front of me, it took me 15 min to get my two donuts and be on my way. Stan's presence can be felt everywhere, from grocery stores to Costco to their store front. I love this location because of its décor and it generally has what I want. I love donuts and I am very particular about what donut to order at each different bakery. My usual go-to for Stan's are the croissant donut and Biscoff pocket. I certainly was eating with my eyes when we first went inside Stan's donuts esp flavors I haven't had. The donuts are pricier than what I would normally buy. "Standards" were $2.30 but we picked mostly "specialty"s @$3.30 and "dough boys best" @$4.30, cruffins @~ $6. Since we were just visiting, thought of it as a treat to bring back home. Taste-wise, most were on the too-sweet side. 1/2 was ok for me. Except for the biscoff and cruffins which were good. Not enough fillings though. 3.5 for the donuts. Added points for the ambiance. Like an old school diner with high tops, booths and some more comfy chairs so wouldn't mind sitting there for a bit. read more

While it's nice to have access to Stan's Donuts in the mall without going out to a full location in the city, the donuts here are good but not excellent for me. I'm not sure if it is just perception, but maybe it's the freshness or the flavor doesn't seem quite a refined -- or it feels like there's just a few less interesting options available. With that said though, this is better than the average donut option you'll typically find in a mall or really any town. The prices are also a bit higher to reflect this premium offering though it's not super expensive compared to other premium options either. The donuts are always presented beautifully with pretty good and distinct flavors, and a good level of moistness regardless of whether you get the cake or yeast donuts. The drinks are fairly good here as well, though I still prefer the options from dedicated coffee shops as there's nothing here that I've tried yet that really makes me go "wow". Overall, worth a stop by here if you're shopping in the Oakbrook Center. This Chicago favorite is always a winner and you can get a few cool pictures here as well. read more

As a student, I'm always on the hunt for new study spots and this Stan's location is a great study spot! They have a lot of tables and areas to sit. The employees are also very nice, they provided great recommendations when I came to drinks and I can't forget about the pistachio old fashioned. Definitely a staple for donuts! read more

Great Plain Old Fashioned donut !! It was sweet but not overly sweet. Usually donuts are uncomfortably sweet but this one hit the spot. The Stan's Cruffin was a little lack luster and wasn't very good for my personal tastes. I felt like it was a bit stale and the filling was a weird texture. Could it be that I just got lucky all those other times?? Is the average employee really actually like that officious woman who just harassed me so badly on a pick up that I didn't bother to get my usual?? Wow. I was picking up a grubhub order and was of course going to grab a cold brew coffee and a blueberry gluten-less donut. I first went to check the pickup rack for the customer order. The woman who ruined Stan's for me has brown hair and wore it in braids. She locked dark judgment on me as I approached the rack and then snatched the bag before I could pick it up. "Excuse me? Did you place a mobile order" "GrubHub." [I squint for the initial after Mark] "Mark M." [at this distance I can clearly see that it is the customer order.] [she grabs it away obviously disgusted by my fatness.] "No! [looks at me with disdain and obviously expecting to catch me in a lie] I need to confirm that order." I would have walked out if it was my own order. I had to pick it up because it was a job. I knew when I got dressed this morning that my shirt was a little small...but it was clean and I wanted to go work for a few hours before getting new tires and taking my dad shopping. I guess I should've known that this same city that bullied me when I was a fat kid was still teeming with people searching their every second hoping to find an opportunity to look down on me. I have been a fan of Stan's for many years. I used to visit the wicker park location when I lived in the city. The donuts are always fresh, and they have a great variety. Dominick helped us today, and he was phenomenal! He was very friendly and quite outgoing. We had an issue with a reward in the app and he took great care of us. My husband and I visited Stan's Donut & Coffee on a Sunday afternoon. There was a bigger line than i was expecting. They still had all flavors available. We got the double chocolate old fashioned, the coconut donut, and the pistachio and chocolate mini Donuts. These were the softest, moistest donuts I've ever had. The flavors were bold, something I appreciated. These are better than any store bought donuts available. He was on his phone for a good 45 seconds while i was standing right in front of him at the counter, then he took my order with scowl of a serial killer and deliberately put all three donuts frosting down in the bag. This was my second time to Stan's and first time to this location. The people who work here are super sweet and very helpful. I had a hard time deciding because I was hoping they would have strawberry, but they had run out, so I ordered an old fashioned, while my boyfriend ordered 2 glazed. However, the man behind the counter saw my face light up when he mentioned blueberry cream cheese that tastes like cheesecake, so he threw one in as a gift so I could try it. I'm sure I'll love it, like I do most things that taste like cheesecake. We also ordered a large mocha and a shot of espresso. My boyfriend raves about the mocha (which I tried this time and it's amazing!) and I love their cappuccinos, but I just had dinner so I wanted the caffeine without the filling milk -hence espresso shot. So I enjoyed their breakfast options and their coffee, I just had one thing that sort of took me by surprise. They don't give out traditional condiments other than ketchup and cream for your coffee, and it's all dependent on who is taking your order through the drive through. I went a few times and had the loveliest girl super sweet and very friendly. Adored her energy!! I asked for ketchup and honey, and she pulls out a box full of honey and grabs a few and then did the same for the ketchup and hands them to me. I got the next day and get a guy with glasses and a beard he's nice when taking my order but after I left my tip, he takes the machine back and I ask for the same items I got the day before from the super sweet girl "can I have ketchup and 2 honeys?" And he's clearly lies and says "oh ketchups in the bag and we don't have honey here" so I said "no problem, do you guys have any jelly's or jams for the breakfast sandwiches?" He says "no, we don't offer those here either, just ketchup" The following day I go and get the super sweet girl, and she again, hands me honey and ketchup. Just out of curiosity, I asked if they offered jelly's or jams and she sweetly said "yes of course, we have grape, and strawberry, would you like for me to get you some?" I said, "ah no, I just wanted to know for future reference. I would have given this place the full 5 stars but found it incredibly strange of that small detail. It kinda bugged me because, who lies about such trivial things. I just wish the sweet girls level of service could be duplicated across every drive through server. I am so glad they have a location of Stan's in the west suburbs! I am not too crazy about getting up early to drive into the city, so a visit to Stan's in Oakbrook is a must when I am in town! I love the decor! It's so fun and somewhat retro, but you just feel good going in. I will warn you- Stan's donuts are expensive especially your specialty signature collection donuts. They do have a cool way of distinguishing the donuts and their pricing level by color, so at least you can know what you expect to pay. I will say the reason I didn't give them a 5 star review is because for the price, unless you are getting a unique donut you can't find anywhere else, their basic donuts are well....just basic. I gauge a donut place by how good their original glaze is and their original cake and go from there. The original glaze is ok, but I have had better at a local mom and pop donut shop that has a great yeast ride and is more light and airy. So, if you are a purist when it comes to your donuts, and just want a good glaze or plain cake donut, Skip Stan's and go to your favorite local spot. However if you are looking for a unique donut experience and maybe want to impress your out of town guests, check them out, but be ready to lighten your wallet. Go nuts for doughnuts I've always liked Stan's. My first experience with Stan's was their original location in Chicago. I remember years ago going out of my way to go Stan's because it was better than most other places. Ok, I still love Stan's, but competition is tough these days. There are so many doughnut places to pick from, and Stan's is definitely one of the best. One thing to mention about one of my pictures. So a lot of people that work remotely like to go and sit at coffee shops / doughnut shops. They have wifi here but in addition they have a printer for those that need to print something. The ladder being my recommendation if your into that sort of thing. Chocolate icing actually tasted like a dark good quality chocolate and the cream filling was airy with great flavor. Both tasting fresh. Recently I have had continued bad experiences at the tried and true Starbucks... flies, uncleanliness, staffing problems. I have been in search of a morning work spot to pull me away from what has worked in the past... this hit the spot! This location is pretty new, they have only been open for about a month. It's a larger location than the one I normally go to in Chicago, and located in a strip mall, so there is parking available. It is smartly decorated with a retro vibe. Of course, the decor is all about the donuts. They have some cute pink padded chairs and benches along with at least a dozen tables and chairs, as well as an outdoor patio. Donuts cost anywhere from $1.95 for the Standards to $4.99 for a LeStan Croissant Donut. Yes, that is the price per each donut! I recently tried the Beignet pair (a bargain at $2.75 for 2) and a Glazed Old Fashioned that was delicious. They also have bagels, ice cream and an extensive Espresso Bar. They also make Frappes, Smoothies and Frozen Hot Chocolate. My favorite to order in the hot weather is either a Mango smoothie or a frozen Hot Chocolate. The service was awesome and very fast. I was driving by and decided to stop by in the afternoon. I went through the drive-thru to order and they were out of most donuts, which is understandable. I wish there was a way for them to update the visible menu at the drive-thru so I didn't have to keep asking for a specific donut and have them tell me it's not available. It was a bit goofy since like 4 of the donuts I was interested in were not available, but it still shows on the menu. The donuts I did get were fine/good. I just thought the ordering process through the drive-thru should be improved. Great location with lots of parking. Can grab and go or sit in. The place on the inside is actually very cool and nicely decorated. The donuts and drinks are great. Your usual variety of items. I would have to say that everything is slightly overpriced however. Not sure that the difference in value compared to other donut places is there. The donuts were okay, nothing I would go out of my for to get, especially at the price they're charging. On the other hand, heir customer service was great, and the interior of this place seems like a cool place to chill order a donut and some coffee and go on about your day. They do serve draft coffee which I thought was kind of neat, and wouldn't mind trying on my next visit. Half a dozen donuts will run you about $17 or a little of $30 for a dozen. They are pretty huge compared to other donut places, but there just wasn't anything special about them. This Stan's location might be one of my favorites. I have always visited the location in Wicker Park. This location has a drive through and outside patio. The decor here is bright with color and welcoming. I walked up to the glass case of donuts and couldn't decide. Every last donut looked so tempting. Stan's also is serving breakfast food, hot coffee and frozen drinks. Everyone here was super nice and professional. I loved the set up of this location. The color theme gives you a warm welcome feeling. The seating area is spacious and clean. I love the donut frame decor on the wall. The service is amazing.
