We ordered a chocolate mousse sheet cake for a party of 45 people and it was terrific. Although I am a chocoholic, I don't generally like chocolate cake. However, that was not the case this time, The cake was moist, the filling out of the world, and the frosting yummy. Kevin, the owner was a delight to work with. Stopped by early with the kids on a Saturday morning for doughnuts. It was a big hit with the kids. The jelly doughnut was fully of jelly and not dry like most chain places. Very bad customer service. Left order information on their website as they asked and never got a call back. Called the next day they were open but the cake specialist wasn't in. Was promised she'd call me the next day. She didn't. I called her again...and got serious attitude. I wanted a different type of frosting and she got angry. Pretty sad! The place that seems like mom and pop place is nothing more than a cold blooded corporate monger! They refused a cake tasting for our wedding, even after we were willing to pay for it! Great lil bakery! ( a weakness of mine) I don't visit bakeries much anymore as they aren't in existence to the degree like they were when I was a kid having been replaced by the likes of DD. Anyway, I was in the area for something else, drove by & had to stop. Owners very friendly, had several scones and found them very light & tasty. Had I been there earlier in the day, I may have stumbled on several vaunted items mentioned in other reviews, which weren't available when I stopped. Coffee was good. They are definitely upscale, owners are friendly but I was disappointed by the lack of seating, even several bistro tables would by nice. Clearly they have room near the windows so I inquired & was told Naperville would change the zoning for them if seating were installed. Im sure they happily would have seats if they could. Damn these villages! Too full of their restrictions & taxes. And everyone wonders why the lil shop owners often dont make it? Oh well, plenty of baked goods, which other customers were raving about in the store! Just to go. I guess they do wedding & party orders. Nice place. Do stop. Terrible customer service! Kevin, the owner of this business, has no concept of good customer service. I placed my order for Easter desserts with his business because I believe in supporting local, independent businesses, and I told him this. Due to poor communication on the part of his employees, I did not receive my order and rather than offering any compensation ( it was a prepaid order) he chose to leave rude and snarky messages on my phone. Here's a hint, Kevin: "I'm sorry your order didn't work out for you. Here's x% off your next order as a way of thanking you for patronizing our business ". Done. Satisfied, returning customer. Instead, he has lost a customer over a $50 order. Edited to add: After posting this review, I got yet another call from Kevin (the owner) asking if I am going to be picking up my order? (the order was for 24 petit fours at $2.25 each). He previously told me they were perishable, which is why he can't refund me. But now he tells me they are good for "another 4 or 5 days". We were looking for a cake for our wedding. We started out w a cake tasting. OMG. My daughter and I went and it was absolutely amazing. Well worth the $25, even if you don't buy a cake! We decided on chocolate with Bavarian cream filling and fresh strawberries. The staff was accommodating through all of my changes, and always friendly. The cake was delivered on Saturday for my Sunday wedding. At the end of my wedding, I asked for the leftovers and guess what?? There were NONE. It is important to note that we did not serve the cake to each guest, but rather had a sweets table. We only put out more cake as it ran out. My guests ate every last piece of cake - it was that good. We offered cheesecake as well, so guests had a choice, and they chose the chocolate cake until it was gone! LOL The Bavarian cream is the best I have ever had, and the three bites of wedding cake I got was amazing. Unfortunately, I never got an actual piece, which is normally the case when you're the bride. :( I will go here for all my cake needs in the future. Simply out of this world good. read more

Best cake ever! For our 50th wedding anniversary we ordered a chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling from DeEtta's Bakery. It was delicious! The cake was moist, dense and had a very rich chocolate flavor. The mousse filling was light and creamy and also a very generous amount in each layer. Topped with buttercream frosting that was also rich, smooth and creamy, not stiff and grainy with sugar like I've tasted on other cakes. The frosting style we chose was finished to perfection. All our guests loved it too. They devoured it! This was our first time as DeEtta's customers but it won't be our last. read more

We hired DeEtta's to cater the desserts for our May 2015 wedding. All I can say is wow! Our cake was a combo of almond cake with a filling of fresh berries and cream, and chocolate cake with a filling of mocha mousse. We also purchased a sweet table of brownies, cookies, and fruit tarts. Everything--seriously everything--was delicious! We had a number of guests come up and ask us where we got our desserts from. And their prices were very reasonable as well! I can't wait to receive our "top tier" (a new, fresh cake) for our one year anniversary. Although I'll probably go back sooner to get some more of their amazing brownies. :) read more

Average bakery. After hearing about this bakery from several people, my girlfriend and I made it a point to go buy our Easter desserts here. After about 10 minutes of looking through all the cases we looked at each other and shrugged. Nothing special from what we could tell. I walked in there on Saturday, March 4th. I got in line, but then other customers walked in and started a very animated conversation with one of the clerks, with whom they apparently were friends. I was annoyed that the clerks were not taking the customers in order. Others walked in, but I was still ignored. I then left, and will not return. Customer service is absolutely atrocious. - I strongly recommend that potential customers stay away from this place b/c the clerk's friends, not customers already in line, are their top priority. Perhaps their pastries are delicious, but the abysmal customer service leaves a very bad taste in one's mouth. read more

Our hostess for our Thanksgiving feast had the most wonderful desserts and bread. When I asked where they were from knowing that our hostess does not bake, I was told DeEtta's Bakery in Naperville. We had several kinds of breads, cranberry- walnut, salami-cheese, butter knot dinner rolls, and the most wonderful butter croissant type muffin. And the apple and pecan pies. Can't believe they were bakery-made. Apples were sliced perfect none of that jelly stuff found in most apple pies. And the pecan pie not at all super sweet. Very flavorful. Everything I've gotten from DeEtta's has been fantastic. They make what is potentially the best scone on the planet. Pretty sure I've tried every flavor at this point. While dropping my boys off for summer camp in downtown Naperville wasn't that fun from a traffic perspective, it meant that I had an excuse to stop at DeEtta's for a morning scone, croissant, or some bars or cookies for later in the day. My company ordered 120 cupcakes and 80 cookies from DeEtta's for St. Patricks day. They were wonderful. Everyone I spoke to on the phone was kind and patient. I also called to confirm more than once that they would be delivered on time and they were. I was not at the office yet when they were delivered but my boss said they came earlier than expected and the woman that came was extremely nice. The cupcakes and cookies were a hit and all got eaten. Everything was delicious. My company will defiantly use them again and personally I'll use them again. WOW! All I can say is that if you need anything sweet and delicious that your guests will rave about and devour, order from DeEtta's! We ordered our rehearsal dinner and wedding cake and both were outstanding. The groom's cake I requested for them to make was pretty complex (an anatomical shape of the human heart for my husband who is a cardiac doc)...they exceeded FAR beyond my expectations! See attached photos below. People raved about how awesome the cake, not only looked, but tasted incredible. We got the same reviews for our wedding cake the following night. We also ordered cannoli's from them to fill the sweet tooth craving for our Italian relatives...they did not disappoint. These people are cake bosses. Hours limited open until 2pm on Saturday and closed on Sunday. Space could be utilized better and signage was lacking - I found it essential to ask what donuts were behind the servers. I've been looking for a good bakery in the area and this one checks all the boxes! Stopped in this morning (thanks to yelp) and was blown away by the bakery case. Everything looked amazing! I ended up with a most delicious Boston cream donut and a coffee. It was so good, it deserves expletives to describe it! I will definitely be going back. First off, I never like leaving such bad reviews, but I just don't like rude people! I called looking for an apple and a cherry pie for Thanksgiving. The man that answered the phone said they didn't do cherry, but had a cranberry pie. Now I don't know about you, but if cranberries are being served for supper, why would anyone want cranberries for dessert? That wasn't the worst part. I'm visiting from out of town and went to DeEtta's after reading multiple recommendations from Yelp and a few other sites/bloggers. Upon pulling up to the bakery and walking in, it didn't look like anything fancy or hugely spectacular. It's quite simple and plain but don't hold that against them. I ordered a few items, their lemon-blueberry cream scone, double chocolate chip cookie, apple sweetie pies, butter cookies and kolacky cookies. Then I saw their almond cake which almond flavored pastries is a favorite of mine. One of the staff members said it's a staff favorite and added powder sugar to my slice. She stated that it would pair well with berries and fresh whipped cream. Well I know that those additions would definitely elevate the taste and bring an amazing contrast to that slice of cake. But oh my goodness, it didn't need it at all. This is the best slice of almond cake I've ever had and I've had quite of few, both homemade (one of my friend's) and other local bakeries. One of favorites is the "birthday cake" cupcake at Red Velvet Cupcakery in the Northern VA/DC area. And if you are in the area, I definitely recommend it. But DeEtta's has them beat. I will be back tomorrow to get another slice and hopefully the cake is available. Great job and they lived up to all the recommendations. Great bakery - especially on the weekends when donuts are served. I grew up in Lombard with a super bakery and this comes closest to it....fresh, from scratch. I regularly look to treat the family on the weekends and stop in. Suggest you try them as well. You won't be disappointed. read more

INCREDIBLY disappointed!! I decided to give them a second chance after hearing such great things about the bakery. I first tried their cake for my god daughters baptism and it was dry and had very little filling in it. We got my cake here for my bridal shower and it was even worse! SO DRY and such little filling. Well, I was just hungry and wanted something to munch on for the drive home. I actually was looking for a different bakery in that location and it mus thave gone out of business so I stopped at D's. I bought a raspberry bar for me and an apricot bar for my mother. The raspberry bar was just to die for, so buttery and melt-in-your mouth consistencey. So my mom never got the apricot bar. Everything I've tried from DeEtta's bakery (and I've tried almost everything by now!) has been absolutely amazing. Each time I try something new I'm completely blown away by the quality, and I'm happy to pay a little more for that quality. I've never had a chocolate chip cookie better than theirs (or even close!), and no matter how many times I have their scones, I still can't get over how moist they are.
