Beers were good and between the actual brewery and the outside area that seems to be more like a courtyard type of style between a few businesses there was ample on the seating for our group of four. It seems to be really busy here and as locals we had never tried it and so glad that we did. Lots of options from the beer front and they also have some nonalcoholic options as well with cans of soda and a couple other options.

First time there this past Friday and won't be the last one. One of my closest friend had his birthday gathering there and even though it was very difficult for me to find parking once I did and reached there, I was surprised to see that there are several beer places in one and communal tables plus live music. It was very enchanting to see that many people families with children, dogs, friends having the best time. This is an area of San Diego that I don't frequent often around Morena boulevard, but I saw there is a lot of atmosphere so I will be back soon. Remember you have to be patient because the lines to get your beer or food can get very long. The place was packed.

Delicious small brewery right next to a wine bar AND WOOD FIRED PIZZA?!?!?!?! Say less and pour me a beer! The space is a typical brewery, tanks and industrial, a few flags decorating and showing there the beers are styled/ inspired from. Dog allowed and WiFi available, parking is a little odd as there are a lot of driveways around this block. Stay vigilante! Plenty of seating available with the outdoor patio. Service was friendly and the guys behind the counters offer plenty of suggestions. Check this place out!

Love this brewery, the service is always great as well as super informative. The atmosphere is so chill and romantic depending on the time of day. They have several options to choose from and the prices are very reasonable. Also you can get a flight which I recommend but it's not on the menu so just ask. I would definitely pair the beer with some of the Pizza from across the way. 5/5 worth the calories and Uber

The pizza here is next level. It's whipped up in a brick oven and they do a really good job. I recommend the Stinger if you like hot honey! Wednesdays they do a musical open mic night and it rocks!

We had a fantastic experience here. Walked in to a packed place with live music around 6:30 on a Saturday evening. I finally understood why people always talk about SD weather being perfect! The food here was absolutely brilliant too. Good German beer, Good Food, Live music, and board games for little ones... what else can one ask for? Drinks were self-serve, but food was delivered to our table within 20 mins, in-spite of the place being super busy. The produce and pizza was fresh! Noise levels on the higher end, so conversing became slightly difficult as the evening progressed, but manageable. Highly recommend this place to beer, wine, and people who like to have fun in general!

UPDATE: the owner of Deft responded to my email promptly and settled everything very professionally! Original review for posterity: Avoid this place at all costs. Deft Brewing was one of the worst experiences I've had at any establishment, ever. We went on July 4th, excited to check out a new spot. It was our first time. It will also be our last. It started with a staff member at the pizza shop getting weirdly aggressive over a casual comment about New Jersey. I mentioned my girlfriend is from Warren, NJ, and the guy felt the need to argue with us about what part of the state that's in. He actually followed us to our table to prove his point. Seriously. Over geography. It was awkward, rude, and set a bizarre tone for the night. Then it got worse. Much worse. While walking by one of the tables near the meadery area, I was bitten by a dog on the property. Not scratched. Bitten. Through a brand new pair of shorts I had just bought for 80 bucks. Ripped a hole straight through them. I didn't make a scene. I'm an animal person. But there was no warning, no sign, no one taking responsibility. Just silence. I emailed them directly with a photo of the damage and a link to the product, hoping for at least basic accountability. Nothing so far. This place is careless, unprofessional, and clearly not equipped to manage a safe or respectful environment. Between the hostile staff behavior (NJ geography wiz guy) and the lack of oversight with dogs on the property, I wouldn't send anyone here. Not locals, not visitors, not anyone. Go somewhere that knows how to treat guests like people and takes safety seriously. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. (Bock in South Park is a better alternative)

The beer and service here was excellent The girl gave out samples so you could really get one you liked. Fast friendly and efficient. She even helped me carry some of the drinks to the table. Excellent service!!

The last time we were in this area - the pizzeria, brewery, cidery, winery area - we drove, because we hadn't yet been introduced to Uber Pet. On our first visit, we stopped by Cassette Pizza, but on this visit, we came specifically for Deft. I love how open and communal the courtyard area is. It's also nice that the drinking holes offer indoor seating options, as well. While we were able to find a couple of seats at the bar close to Deft's entrance, it did cool off as the night wore on, and it was nice to have options for indoor seating, though we didn't end up needing it. I started the night with a pint of their Deftoberfest Marzen, because even though it's July, it's never too early for a Marzen. I liked the malty flavor of the brew, though it wasn't as malty as the Oktoberfest beers I typically like. It was a little on the lighter side, as well. My second pour was the "Fear the Deft Star", which was a Kottbusser - a term I had to Google as it was a new one to me. I thought I was in for a sweeter, honey-filled flavor, based on Google, but that didn't really come through on this one. It was light and fizzy, but didn't offer much more than that. To finish the night, I went with the Dawn of the Deft, a porter that brought the chocolatey, roasty flavors I tend to go for. This was my favorite pour of the night, and a good way to close out our tab. My husband enjoyed his three pours as well, though I could tell they weren't hitting for him the way he'd hoped. Still, he kept going back and was able to polish off every pour he got, so that's something. Will we be back? Unknown, but just because there are so many new breweries for us to sample...and favorites for us to frequent.

The beer and wine was delicious! However, the pizza that they have on-site is delivered LATE. We waited an hour before we got our pizza; granted, we expected to wait a while because we got their pan pizza; however, after 30 minutes, we decided to check on it and realized that they had accidentally delivered our pizza to another table. Unless we checked on it, we wouldn't have learned that, so MAKE SURE YOU CHECK ON IT! We were understanding, of course; however, after another 25 minutes, I had hoped for something other than just an apology. But we didn't. Anyway. When you order from their food place, remain vigilant because they will forget about you.

Good selection of beer to choose from, friendly service every time I order a beer and great outdoor seating that has a shared courtyard with a meadery and a place that serves freshly made pizzas. Most of the beers I have had from here have been really good. I prefer to have lighter beers and sours, they have something for everyone. I definitely recommend trying this place at least once. Parking here can be limited as there is never ending construction going on in the evening.

Friendly staff, clean tasting room and outside seating, good food from the Italian food truck. I liked most of their beers, even some that I would usually not touch, e.g. the ESB was VERY drinkable. The Alt is outstanding, even better than the ones you get in Duesseldorf. The Weizen is fruity and fresh. As with every brewery, there are always some beers one doesn't like but if there are so many good beers to choose from, there is nothing to complain about. read more

Tried this place for the first time this weekend and the beer was amazing and I am not usually a beer drinker. I had the Muscal mule beer, it was very light and refreshing. Wonderful atmosphere kid and dog friendly. I will definitely be returning to try more of their beer can't wait to see this local brewery grow and will definitely be returning with friends read more

I went there for the first time last night hosting my meetup group. When I got there, I was greeted by Mo, one of the owners. He was super helpful in making sure I had what I needed - he even checked in later in the eve. I love the beer selection, I'm a little tired of all the hoppy/IPA selections from other breweries so their beer menu is a nice change of pace - I'm a big fan of Heifewiezen and Belgian ales. The beertender was very friendly as well and overall I felt so welcomed! I will definitely go back again soon! read more

Great addition to the area! Dog friendly which is great now that Coronado brewing no longer is. More importantly though, the owner brews some great beers with a focus on different beers than most in San Diego. Glad to have a brewery that doesn't have all IPAs. read more

Yesterday I picked up my pre-paid Porter bourbon beer at Deft I drank my beer yesterday and darn was it ever good. The bourbon and porter compliment each other so well! When I have my Christmas celebration I am going yo grinch it and hide my last Deft Bourbon beer from the guest. I know "what a jerk!" but what they don't know won't hurt them. I'll just smile to myself while the guest drink something else. Of course, I could buy more? hmmmm? I guess I'll give in. Darn it I'm too nice read more

Absolutely loved the plethora of German style beers they had in Mid May. 5 out of 6 we tried were just killer & the 6th was decent. Female bartender was super friendly as were other patrons. Loved the vibe & the beer here. Highly recommend! read more

Wow! Every beer we tried was great. I am not an IPA gal and was thrilled to have many choices! Food-Pizza was scrumptious! Friends brought me here for my birthday and I can't wait to return! Went here randomly because we needed somewhere dog friendly for a beer. The guy behind the bar didn't greet me. Just kinda stared at me until I was ready to order. It's fine- nothing great, nothing bad. $6.50 for a beer during when most bars would have a 'happy hour'. Easy to find parking. read more

Great new neighborhood bar! Mo is terrific. Friendly and happy to explain the beers (which are even color coded!). Was able to sit and do some work with a colleague using the WiFi while also enjoying some good beers! There was a baby shower happening at the same time so we moved to the picnic tables outside and it was perfect. Nice to have different areas to spread out, including an area with toys for kids. Hope people discover this little hideout. We will definitely be back! read more

We were definitely pleasantly surprised by the quality of beer ... I love Porter and it seems as though their Porter has won many awards. It was one of the best I've had because it didn't feel heavy. We filled a growler to bring to dinner at a friends home and brought the EU ... IPA ... They also loved it because it was not as hoppy as some other IPAs. And as many others have said --- absolutely love that it is kid and dog friendly!!! It allows you to stay alllllll day !!!! read more

This place is a hidden gem in the craft brew capitol of the world! I've been there a few times and have tried: DeftHopt Golden (English IPA) Deft and Wity (Belgian Witbier) Shanagarry Summer (Irish Red) Golden Mule (Golden Ale with Lime & Ginger) Half-a-Weizen (Weissbier) All very well brewed with Deft & Wity being my favorite. Morris the owner is awesome and I love talking to him about his passion. His story is inspiring leaving the corporate world to pursue this love. Can't wait to go back soon for the variety of food trucks with great beer to wash it down. read more

Wow! New! Very fun, cozy atmosphere. Excellent brews - a variety of different opportunities to taste and enjoy. Owner is hands on and front facing for the customers. He and his team do all the brewing. They are beer guys. Different, creative food events each weekend ... it just feels good here. Tucked away, it is worth the effort. Easy parking, casual vibe. A place where you feel like a regular. read more

Really great place. I like that not every beer is an IPA. Good selection on really nice people. Also has a kid corner with a chalk board. Clearly, I spent more time there than any kid on the premises. This place feels like one of the few breweries in San Diego that care more about beer quality over beer money. read more

Locals call Deft Brewery the Community Center because it has become the meeting place for so many good people who have become great friends. The vibe and good spirit of the place is catching, and the beers are world class. We all find ourselves rooting for the owner, Mo Nuspl, because he is just a good man trying to make it with the severe challenges of a pandemic and super competitive brewery industry. Deft is also a safe place with plenty of outdoor seating and strict adherence to mask wearing and social distancing when indoors ordering beers or walking around. I would recommend Deft to anyone looking for excellent beer and a good time. Plus, help support Mo and all the super friendly people that work there. Deft is our place! Super cozy and inviting atmosphere with plenty of board games to keep you busy. They have a nice patio outside and have food trucks that rotate often. I'm personally a huge fan of the tripel, but my husband and I both love everything. Can't go wrong! read more

LOVE this place! Not only is their customer service excellent, their beer is amazing. It's such a nice atmosphere. Bring your dog or your partner, unless your partner is a dog! :-) It's a must try in San Diego. They are definitely doing it right. Stop by on a Wednesday night for live music from Christopher Dale. He's a local singer song writer who you will fall in love with. His songs hit you to the core with lyrics that will make you laugh, sing, and keep you wanting and waiting for more. We just found this place recently and we loved it! It's got a great comfortable vibe and it's a kid friendly bar, which blew us away. Our son had a good time playing with the other kids and we got to try a really tasty flight of local beer, everyone was a winner! It's definitely not a party bar or a loud late night place but there are plenty of those around, it's nice to find a place for grown-ups and families. read more

Had a great beer after finishing dinner this past Saturday. This spot was cute, and as the owner described, it would be a great place to come on a sunny afternoon to enjoy a nice beer on the patio. This Brewery has plenty of seating. Indoors and Outdoors. You can watch Sports there will you enjoy a great beer. There were a lot of people there so it's definitely a popular brewery. The service was superb! The guy that poured our beers was super friendly and made you feel very welcomed. Overall it was a great experience and we wanna try more beers.

High fives for us by him! The beer menu is great. I go around different locations of breweries to try out any stouts or ipas they have advertised. I usually go for the strongest stuff because well, it just tastes better. We came during their happy hour, they have great prices for the pints, and great tasting beers. They do rotate, so if you don't see something that was on a previous posted menu, fear not, they will come back again. The interior vibes well, pretty chill tavern style bar which matches my vibe. 10/10 will come back again!

They have solid food, beer and even a couple of NA options. I tried their NA Mai Tai, and it was legit. It had great flavor and actually tasted like it had alcohol in it which was A-OK in my book. I did try their special, Boar Bolognese, and the sauce was decent, but the type of pasta they used overwhelmed the sauce. My friend got fries for the table, and they have battered fries which are my favorite! This is such a solid spot to do a casual social event. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They even have a reservation system. Service was good with Juan checking in on our table. Overall, this place is still a good time after all these years!

I ordered the Hazy Sculpin, and I really enjoyed it. For food, we ordered the Pork Belly Banh Mi and the Birria Nachos. Both were decent, nothing really stood out. In my opinion, they could have used a bit more seasoning. Overall, we had a good experience and would come back to watch another game.

We chose happy hour since they have such a great HH menu! Everything looked good on the regular menu as well, but we went with the HH food and kids' meals. We enjoyed two orders of the cauliflower, the cheese pizza, and the smash burger with fries--all of them were so well done! Our kids wanted the mac and cheese with fruit (which came with fresh blueberries and blackberries), and my one year old had that plus a side of snap peas and carrots. Both kids loved their food and even had enough left over for dinner the following day. We also tried the "Kiwi Be Friends" drink, which was delicious! Service was fantastic. Amelia was upbeat, attentive, and even checked in with us before happy hour ended to see if we wanted to order anything else. I was so grateful for the friendly reminder! I completely see why it's called a beer garden--it is beautiful. I loved the decor, the greenery, and the covered patio with turf, picnic tables, fans, and both table and ceiling heaters. The furniture and the bar... I loved it all! The designer really took their time and did a wonderful job planning it out. As a quick heads-up on the layout, the bathrooms are gender-neutral. It's an open room with about six private stalls and shared sinks, featuring red/green indicators near the doorknobs to tell you if a stall is occupied or vacant. It was such a comfortable atmosphere for networking. The staff was incredibly friendly and didn't feel judging at all which you can get when you go to a place that sells crafty beers. Such a warm and inviting atmosphere both inside and outside. And in talking to the staff, you discover that they are happy to be working there as they are well treated. Well, I'm not really a beer drinker an IPA was recommended to me which I thoroughly enjoyed. The gentleman behind the bar took the time despite how busy they were, to get to know my taste to match a beer to me. So not only was the event good but I wouldn't hesitate to have an event here or meet with business colleagues in the future. Also a great place for a date. Yeah it's just a good place overall. Maybe next time I'd venture to try some of the food. The only challenge I have on the way I understand isn't typically a challenge was finding parking.

Been drinking Harland Brewing for years and FINALLY made it to this location. Walked in thinking it…read morewas going to be a tiny space with only a few tables and was amazed with the gorgeous layout. The Beertenders were AWESOME from the moment we got there! They are super helpful and welcoming and have the best energy. Definitely want to become a regular just to be able to kick it with them. Parking was easy; found street parking right away! I'm sure some days it can be harder than others with parking, but we took it as a sign! Harland has one of the best Japanese Lagers and honestly this is the beer we always try to get when it comes to drinking Harland! We got this and CRONE ZONE, because, come on! GO PADS! My husband was happy because there were outlets right at our table, so he could charge his phone! & the variety of table top options and seats makes everyone feel comfortable! Lastly, they said a restaurant two doors down delivers food if we order, so even though they may not have an entire restaurant, they still work with other local restaurants to make the experience worthwhile! When I was walking around downtown, I did not realize the Padres had a home game the same day. Place was busy when I stopped in but managed to get a table relatively quickly. I started off with a Scottish egg which I have never had before. It was very interesting to try. Main dish was fish and chips. Very good. Battered fish is three smaller strips instead of one large piece of fish which I am more used to. I had a flight of three beers. They offer a flight of three, four, and five beers. I tried Father Ted Belgian Blonde, Spring Training IPA, and Gimmick Ale White Chocolate Peanut Butter Golden Milk Stout. The first two were good. The Milk Stout was different . Service was good. I like the converted house into a restaurant. Each room can be different and it feels less crowded. Overall, a great place for food and drink.

Glad I did it…read more It's tough to find a barrel-aged brown ale at all but New English has one year round and it's quite tasty. High marks. The place is spacious and has tons of indoor and outdoor seating, it's kid and dog friendly and has a 21+ area if you're not a fan of the aforementioned kids and canines. Good beer menu, nice mix of styles and they have a couple seltzer options too. Friendly service. There's tacos and coffee nearby and this is an easy spot to spend a few hours.

They were a great start! For entrees, I got the Japanese curry and my husband got the duck and waffle. The curry was so good! I loved the whipped egg on top. It was so light and fluffy. The portion was huge and I was able to take about half of it home for a second meal. I was full from the delicious brunch, but still ordered a matcha to go. It was the only thing that I thought wasn't so great. I didn't love the matcha and the strawberry puree was a little too chunky for my liking. Everything else was great though! I actually think a simple maple syrup would've worked better here. The waffle itself was decent, though I wish it had been crispier and had a bit more flavor on its own. Curry Hamburger The egg was light and nicely cooked. The curry leaned pretty salty, but it was smooth and flavorful. I really enjoyed the rice - it had a smoky, earthy flavor from the mushrooms that added a lot of depth. The hamburger patty helped balance out the saltiness well

AMAZING SPOT, AMAZING BEERS! Dog-friendly, easy parking, convenient access (intersection of the 5 and the 8), fantastic European-style beers. As a homebrewer and a proud beer snob, Deft has some of the most amazing, well-crafted, unique beers in San Diego. With 160+ breweries in the region, and counting, that says a lot. There are many styles of beers you can get just about anywhere (IPAs). What makes Deft stand out (in addition to their high quality beers, across the board), is their unique European-style focus, often coupled with historical/regional authenticity. For some beers, like sticke alt or roggenbier, it's a way to travel back in time and try beers that you probably never had before and likely can't get anywhere else. So if you want to expand your beer knowledge horizon and learn a thing or two about some European styles, come to Deft. Most beers are fairly restrained in both ABV and IBU, which is true to European brew scene, where beer was a "liquid bread" in times of food shortages. This means you can have more than one without overwhelming your palate or your brain. The brewer and founder Mo is super-friendly and is almost always in the brewery talking to the customers, so you will get a lot of personal attention from the guy who crafted those European style beers. Dog friendly, great service, try the $9 flight that gives you a sample of beers of your choice in a well-designed carrier. How to excel when competing in a saturated market like craft brewers in San Diego? Look no farther than Deft Brewing and co-owner "Mo" Nuspl for the answers. Opened almost 3 years within walking distance of two other larger local brewers, Defty Mo has the "secret formula": absolutely outstanding European inspired beers, fantastically friendly and knowledgeable personality and staff, a regular sense of experimentation, use of personal communication, outdoor space under the stars and a restaurant partner, Cucina Caprese, with outstanding brick oven pizzas, salads and other entrees. Last year, pre-Covid, my wife and I traveled in Europe and longed to have a beer as good as those at Deft. Really! We couldn't find one throughout our travels in the Netherlands, Germany, France and Switzerland. Nada. It's not surprising either, as Mo starts with a basic beer "direction", and then modifies to be better and better suited to local tastes. Or perhaps, to his!. In either case, the result, time after time, is an outstanding beer. There's good variety, friendly local patrons, and to-go options during these rather odd times. Give this great gem a try! Walkable from the Morena trolley stop just opposite the old Sears Outlet store (soon to open as a major flooring retailer). This is one of San DIego's BEST! read more

Deft Brewing is everything that is good about the San Diego beer scene. The tasting room is welcoming and comfortable with plenty of seating including an awesome outdoor patio area. The Deft staff are super friendly and knowledgeable about their beers. The owner/brewer, Mo, is the nicest, most genuine guy you'll ever meet. My wife and I are always greeted with a warm welcome and a big smile (behind a Deft mask these days but you can tell it's there). And while all these things are great, the beer is really what sets this place apart. A wide array of classic styles are a welcome sight for the IPA-weary (but there are IPAs available and they are delicious). The Dawn of the Deft English Porter is absolutely phenomenal and has a long list of awards to prove the point. When it is on tap, the Sticke Altbier is one of the finest beers San Diego has to offer. There really is something for everyone on the Deft tap list. Another cool deal with this location is the food available from Cucina Caprese and meads from Lost Cause Meadery. They share a large patio where you can enjoy delicious food, mead and beer. If you are looking for a gem of a San Diego brewery, look no further than Deft. So I've been going to Deft since day 2 of their opening. Through the years it's been amazing to watch the place grow into the cozy outdoor oasis that it is today. The addition of Cucina Caprese and Lost Cause has brought only heightened charm to the blossoming artisinal district. The solid beer was what brought me in, as soon as I saw a brewery specializing in European style beers I was grabbing my jacket to head over. The genial staff and atmosphere is what keeps us coming back. There's a feeling some regulars can't pin down that makes you love it here but for me it's 'that place I want to go where everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came'. I've had every single beer here with few exceptions of some short lived experimentals and there are no losers, only winners here. With a little bit of everything from tart and light gose to dark and rich Dawn of the Deft to the flavorful Euro IPAs no one will feel left out. Cheers and Prost to the greatest little hidden gem that is becoming less hidden in San Diego. read more

It's a pleasure to find a good brewery in San Diego but it's even better when you find a great one. That's what happened 3 years ago when we found Deft Brewery. Not only do they do well balanced Belgian beers but they do savory German styles and American IPAs too. The location is like a little piece of heaven especially now. Combined with the great authentic Italian delicacies of Cucina Caprese with a amazing outdoor patio under the stars - it has made for a great escape from lockdown. It's our way of feeling like things are getting back to normal. Deft Brewery and the Mo crew plus Giesppe and his team are always friendly and excited to share their newest offerings. This isn't a place to stop in and party all night. This is a place for real beer aficionados and a bit more cultured patrons who come for the experience too. I've introduced Deft to many friends who truly enjoy a cold, well produced draft. There's a reason Deft celebrated it's third anniversary recently. Keep up the good work. read more

Absolutely go if you are passionate about fine, eminently quaffable, simply satisfying beer! I am a German beer lover, and every time I am in San Diego, I go visit Deft Brewing. Among my five favorite beers of all places, two (!) are deftly brewed by Morris and his dedicated team: 1. DoubleDeft Secret Sticke Altbier, which is in its own league, and 2. the delicious Dawn of the Deft Porter. Oh, and try Tourmaline Tan, and Deft Hop Golden, which I think is an English style IPA. It's not so much that Mo just nails European style beer - rather, he raises it to the next level. It's just first-rate, fascinating, very fine, superb beer. And they don't rest on their laurels. They go out of their way with their hospitality, and a new take and revised take on older accomplishments. I just wish they could export their beer to Germany! - Now go visit and raise your glas to me if you enjoy my recommendation (and insta #DeftBest). Deft Beer is the good life! read more

Don't believe the haters, this place is perfect. Great outdoor seating, SUPER friendly and courteous staff, knowledgeable and informative brew master, fantastic beer selection, and very importantly DELICIOUS beer!!! That Deft Citrus 5.4% IPA is amazing, and I'm an IPA snob. Do not change a thing on that beer. Last, if pizza and beer is your thing (as it is mine) then search no further. The pizza place is the bomb, perfect combo to the beer. Neapolitan style, brick over, cracker crust and seasoning, sweet sauce but from the tomatoes and not tins of sugar, just quality ingredients. I have been enjoying Deft and its beers since they opened. It's very difficult to stand out in the crowded SD beer market, but Deft manages to do so by making a wide range of beer styles, all of which are well made and taste great. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, and the service is always excellent. The recent addition of Cucina Caprese makes the food available several cuts above the norm for a small brewery like Deft. The patio tables and seating introduced to meet the COVID requirements is comfortable and properly spaced. Overall, just a great place to hang and have a terrific beer and some fine food. read more

We've been going to Deft for some time now. I'm from the UK, so I enjoy the beer on offer. It's nice to have a break from San Diego IPAs sometimes! The big patio is great for enjoying a beer and pizza, and maybe some mead from next door. We really appreciate the efforts of the staff to provide a safe place to eat, drink and socialize by maintaining a Covid safe environment. It was a shame to see some idiots who posted on here ruining it for everyone else last weekend. I hope that they don't return. We're definitely happy to go back for brunch and to give them our business. read more

Deft Brewing is a fantastic neighborhood spot that my entire family enjoys. We have been going to Deft since they opened and have watched the staff and owners do an outstanding job of exceeding our expectations as it just get better each time we go. We have walked over after a session at the batting cages next door and alway enjoy the layed back casual friendly atmosphere. We have enjoyed playing Bimini on the patio and their beer offerings are unique and always fresh. The best part is my kids ask to go their every time I bring it up. read more

This is now my home away from home. The Belgium style beers are the absolute best! The staff and Mo, the owner, are the nicest and make a point of making sure everyone is happy and well taken care of. There is a big patio, that even on the hottest of days seems to remain cool, in addition to all that greatness, there is award winning mead next door, as a nightcap to the best beer, and there is fabulous brick oven Italian eats. Had a great time at Deft's Octoberfest! Deft has done a wonderful job during the COVID era. The outdoor seating is comfortable and charming, while keeping things socially distant and safe - not easy to do. Pizzas from Caprese's oven are really tasty. Beers are always good here. We go to lots of local SD breweries, and Deft has carved out a niche: traditional styles from England and Germany, and always a few Belgian styles available. Great job! read more

This is a fantastic brewery, unique in the increasingly similar San Diego brewing scene. Great Belgian and Northern European styles, though I'm partial to their ales. Never mind poor ratings from Ill-mannered, drunken, one-off 'visitors'; if you're into that, we (real customers) don't want to see you spoil this gem. Excellent beers, superior staff, great setting. Everything about this place is great. The service is awesome. The willingness of the staff to refuse service to those who appear to be intoxicated is helpful to everyone in the facility. It's great to see a business that's willing to consider the law, the well-being of their customers, and the health of the person to whom they refuse service into consideration before profits. read more

Great time there drinking beers for Oktoberfest. And the delicious food truck. Deft makes more German styles of beer with accuracy than any other place in town. Their German Pils is wonderful beer to match with many foods. I know since I took home a crowler and tried it with a bit of everything. Kudos to them for making the establishment work during COVID. read more

Great beers and great vibes. Must visit for any fans of European style ales. Deft has brought another dimension to my beer palate with beautifully balanced beers. Love the Patio thats been set up for the social distancing regulations. Staff and owner are very friendly and welcoming. read more
