The stop happened to be in front of a closed unmarked brewery with no posted hours. With the bus already in sight, we didn't give it much thought until... Behind me, a voice casually asks, "Are you waiting for beer? We're open." And just like that, we stumbled upon @poorhousebrew . If that's not a sign from the beer gods, I don't know what is! (Spoiler alert: the hours were posted on the inside of the door) The brewery had a modern rustic vibe, with a cozy main bar area. Since it sits on a corner, the next room had wall length windows that fully opened, letting in a perfect breeze and offering a great view of the streets. Such a cool setup. The service was great from the moment we walked in. The guy helping us was super friendly and made us feel completely comfortable trying different beers. There was absolutely no rush or awkwardness about asking to sample more than one, which made the experience even better. But the biggest surprise was honestly the beer itself. Every single one we tried was REALLY good! From the Blonde to the West Coast IPA and especially the Brown Ale, we were impressed across the board. As a brown ale lover, I was especially happy with theirs. I love the rich, coffee-like flavor you usually get from a brown ale, but sometimes they can be pretty heavy. This one somehow had all of that flavor while still being surprisingly light and easy to drink. I was not expecting that at all and absolutely loved it. Such a great local discovery and definitely a place we'll be coming back to.
