Fun spot for a quick beer and bites. Degrees Plato is a cool little spot. Very similar to ghost town brewing but different food. The outside area is cool with lots of seating however the trashcans by the entrance were a little off putting as you walk in (smells pretty bad). However the allow dogs and the incorporation of the old school air stream gives it a great vibe. I had the pilsner which was very good and refreshing and the three tacos. The carnitas taco was the best. The food was decent however overall it was a bit expensive. 6 tacos and 1 beer was 40 bucks. Overall i like this place and will definitely be back fun spot to hang outside with friends and bring your dog is always a plus! read more

I ordered the house salad with chicken and tangerine slices. And the kitchen door was open so customers are able to look in there. I saw a woman making my salad but, she dropped some tangerine slices on the floor and put it back in the container with the rest of the tangerines. Just FYI for those eating here. read more

Never falls short! Beer list is extensive and rotating... Food is authentic... Ambiance is chill... Get here! Today: Had the chicken pozole with and a Dr. Lupulin and followed up with a Blind Pig. The pozole was perfect. The broth is thick and full of flavor with a nice kick of spice. Chicken is literally on the bone and the whole thing is clearly made with some sort of sorcerery. Whole avocado and chips frosted with fresh cheese and drizzled with creamy creme (along with limon, onion and cabbage) accompany this beautiful symphony of wtf. In short: The shit smacks! read more

I asked what he would suggested for a dark beer - THEN HIS PHONE RANG & HE TOOK OFF & TOOK THE CALL. It was a telephone order. He totally ignored me and walked away and went to register to take the phone order. HELLO - YOU DIDN'T TAKE MY ORDER YET! I waited a little bit and I was so pissed of at the lack of GOOD Customer Service - I walked out with out even getting a nice cold beer. I will never be back. We love Degrees Plato! My family and I are there weekly with friends from the neighborhood and our kids. Great beer, great service, and food is consistently good - my fav is the chicken sandwich! Grab a table at the outdoor patio or a spot inside. Inside can get echoey which may be too loud for some patrons. They also have an amazing selection of beer for purchase - even if you can't hang out stop by to grab a 6-pack or two of local Bay Area beer. Discovered this place when we moved into the neighborhood, and we love it. Great beer selection that you can't find anywhere else and the food is always fresh & tasty! I personally love the taco trio, flautas, and nachos are always on hit. I really appreciate the quality ingredients they use on everything. Another reason why we love this place is because they have a lil kids area next to the community bench seating, so we bring our 2 year old son and he can be entertained while we dine and unwind with a cold brew. Prices are on the higher side for certain items for Mexican (i.e. $7-8 for chips n Guac) O.O I guess that's what you pay for quality stuff these days. Also, they don't serve reg menu item everyday, so make sure you check first before going. (Nacho Mondays, Taco Tuesday..etc) and that's all they would serve. The beer itself was $7.50 and they tell you after you order that a forced 15% "healthy living fee" and sales tax are added onto the price. I am fine tipping, I always tip for good service. But something felt sketchy about this, as if the owner was just trying to increase his profits and the tips didn't really go to the worker directly. I also hate forced tips. What if I don't like the service? It's a choice! Also, it's one beer and one person. I didn't bring 8 people with me which is normally what forces a gratuity in the bill. I also didn't like that sales tax is not included in the beer price. Usually when I pay for a beer, it's the price as listed. And I order draught beer all the time. This place is fantastic for after work happy hour with your colleagues. We easily squeezed 12 people on one bench; no one felt left out. They carry a wide selection of local craft beers, with a smattering of cider, sours, as well as wine by the bottle or glass. I didn't try much of their food but nibbled off of my friends Platos de Tres Salasa and Totopaz Adobadoas. With a thicker than factory made crunch and perfectly salted exterior, the chips were obviously homemade. The guacamole and salsa that came with it were quite tasty too. Unfortunately the Totopaz Adobadoas ruined the fantastic chip by slathering it in their take of the wonderful Portuguese stock it's named after. It tasted so brunt that it remained untouched for the entirety of our stay. Will definitely be back to try their taquitos and other beer offerings! P.S. Today was my first time at Degrees Plato and I'm forever a fan. There's a robust rotation of beers on tap, the bottle shop is well stocked, the food menu will satisfy the craving of the pickiest eaters, and above all, the staff here could not be more kind. The covered, outdoor seating area right next to the parking lot is somewhere I could spend all day at sipping beers. Great place to stop for a quick bite or brunch, for meeting up with friends. They have a friendly staff and very good selection of beers! You can't go wrong with the beers as they are top notch! The food can be a bit of a hit and miss if you are expecting authentic Mex. Their food is stylized Mex and it does taste very good overall. If I had to point out a couple misses: I don't like how thin the tortillas are for tacos. One of the three tacos fell apart before I started eating. They do not double up on tortillas and the juices in the meat, radishes, salsa tend to outdo the thin tortilla. The Good: The meats are tasty, the nopales (cactus) are deliciously roasted, they use epazote instead of cilantro, and they add chopped pickled radishes, which can overwhelm, but would be tasty as an add-on or side, preferably. I do not write reviews very often, but I felt compelled to write one for Degrees Plato. Let me start by saying that the staff, food, and beer selection here are great. I've been here half a dozen times and I've never had a problem with any of that. This area is devoid of any cool spots to have a drink, hang out in a relaxed atmosphere, and chill. I really do appreciate what this place is providing. However... there's one thing that they are doing VERY wrong that caused me to rate them 1 star. The last time I dropped by for lunch, I had tacos and a few beers. When it came time to pay with my card though, there was no option to add a tip. I thought, "that's weird..." and got a printed receipt. After leaving, I noticed that there was a 15% gratuity tacked on without my consent. It was shown on the receipt as "Living Wage Svc Chg." This is NOT OKAY. The way this place has their register configured to post an automatic gratuity is borderline criminal. I can understand if I had a large group and they added the tip amount because of that, but I was one single person ordering. To the owners/management: If you want your employees to earn a living wage, then PAY THEM A LIVING WAGE. Don't push that responsibility on to your customers. It's not right. I have no problem tipping well, but I do not like that decision taken away from me. I'd be happy to amend my review and continue to patronize your business if you change this policy. For now though, you do not have my business and I'm prompting everyone I know to avoid this place until this changes. read more

I forget why we were in the area, but I got to choose this spot for our sister lunch outing. My sister is a fan of beer, so this spot seemed perfect considering it is a microbrewery. I was more interested in the food pics I scoped on Yelp. I got the chicken flautas and the watermelon salad. My sis got the fish tacos. I enjoyed the flautas and salad, but each could have used a little something. I wanted more sauce for the flautas as they were a tiny bit dry, and I really don't like having to cut into a wedge of romaine for a salad, but that's my personal preference. Both things have some great flavors that trumped my personal issues with access. I didn't get a taste of her tacos, but I got a tiny taste of the sauce and it was very yummy. It was almost like a chipotle mayo kind of thing with a nice kick of spice and flavor. I can see myself ordering those, too. Overall, I see myself coming back to this spot. I bring friends here to board game. My wife and I come to enjoy a nice dinner and I enjoy hanging out with the staff, especially Andrew, Brittney, Moises and Jamie. Five star food from Flor and her crew. The taquitos made out of papas (potatoes) are great. I originally had them a couple of months ago. I returned and Flor let me know she reworked the dish. It was good before but stellar now. Her salsas are all fantastic. Guacamole is tasty and her fresh chips are crunchy and delicious. My friends have had the selection of tacos and enjoyed those a lot. Especially the pollo and carnitas. There is also a vegetarian zucchini one (calabacitas). The reason for four stars not five is based on the atmosphere. The first time I tried to go was with my wife and a friend. It was ear splitting loud and we knew we would not be able to converse without yelling so we left. I've returned at lunchtime and the noise level is usually bearable. If you like beer - I don't- you're in for a treat as they have dozens and dozens of varieties on tap and have frigs on the side with even more dozens of cans and bottles. Judging from last Friday night it's popular with families with small children/ like my son who lives nearby. I love the ambiance and location of this little beer garden. The food is aight. Not traditional Oakland Mexican food. That isn't a bad thing. It's nice to have a cool restaurant like this in the area. Unfortunately they are they hottest restaurant in the area and are low staffed. They take forever! They are cutting costs at every turn. I could talk about the great beer selection (plus some ciders and wines), ther friendly, welcoming staff, being super on top of safety measures all through COVID...and I guess I just did, but what I really want to talk about is the FOOD. Specifically, the Pa Pa Taquitos - THEY ARE DELICIOUS. Y'all don't know how hard it is to find legit crispy tacos BUT HERE THEY ARE and I could literally eat them every day. The flavor wasn't out of this world, but I loved the crunch and they satisfied me for sure. Great beers- the food I had was Ok, but for 1 beer and chips (greasiest of my life) and guacamole (mushed avocado, no spices or herbs- bland) all for $20+ bucks is fuggin' dickulous. A 15% gratuity was forced on. It should not be called gratuity if it is forced. Forceduity. I took a bite of my amigas taco and it was a better deal, but still not any better than a taco truck and the truck would be 1/10 of the cost. I will not return unless I win the lottery. My suggestion? Head over to the corner liquor store, grab a craft beer, go up the street to La Mejor for a reasonably priced taco and attempt to sit in Degree Plato's outdoor parking lot. 2 stars for the parking lot because a lot of interesting critters sipping beers.
