    Street corn in a cup

Located in near the Field Museum and Shedd Aquarium so expect prices to be high. Was trying to grab a small bite with my party. Chicago Style Hot Dog - first time trying. Different. Chicken Tenders - Small portions of chicken. Wouldn't get it unless you really need to supress the hunger. Corn in a cup - $6. Was actually pretty good.

    Yummy. Cheesy flaming hot Cheetos

This is my second good experience within 10 minutes! My first one was not the greatest (a different food vendor) but thank goodness for del campo tacos to the rescue! The staff here was nice and outgoing.their food was delicious. I live the fact that they have Ana collocation and a food truck. They placed food truck in the shade next to seating and shade. A must try is the cheesy flaming hot Cheetos. This place was delicious if you are looking for a quick bite to eat. :-)

The restaurant is located at 12th Street Beach. This makes it easy to buy food and beverages without leaving the beach. Food is delicious and reasonably priced. Highly recommend for families visiting the lakefront or the museums. The pictures show the lakefront location but there are more locations by the Shedd Aquarium and Field Museum.

Museum Campus location- First off the kid taking the order is telling everyone hes a racist - second, these are about 2 bite tacos for $5.00 each.. with almost no flavor ,go elsewhere- they should be embarrassed to serve/sell these in a city with amazing Mexican cuisine..

$10 for an asada burrito, you'll think "ok I'll try"! Never again! If you are ok with a $10 burrito filled with mainly beans and lettuce and some sprinkle of asada (with veins) and a really BAD TASTE! go ahead pay $10! Worst of all was the customer service, they serve you as if they were giving you the food for free! Overpriced I understand in downtown, but just for beans and bad chicken tenders, and TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, no thanks! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE PLACE!

It's so convenient having a taco restaurant right on the lake! We had a little bit of a wait, but the main disappointment was I ordered a quesadilla and it was almost $10 and I was only given half of one - that's apparently how they serve it (only using one tortilla). I ordered the El Pastor one and the flavor was great, but I was a little surprised at the cost for what I received. The view of the lake was great, though!

Really nice addition to the 12th street beach, this family run joint serves basic beach food. My daughter got a hotdog and icecream bar while I enjoyed their horchata which was refreshing after a long bike ride. We will be stopping a few times over the summer for sure!

At 12th Street Beach in Chicago is a taco concession that is every bit a good as any neighborhood place you may find plus you get to eat lakeside. Try it, it's worth the walk or bike ride!

    Hot Dog

Somehow in all of Chicago, del Campo has the best Hot Dogs anywhere and it's not even close. We probably ate two dozen hotdogs from various places over the past week. No need to go anywhere else. Head to the beach and enjoy.

It's free to enter and there's activities for kids, plus tons of other free things to see and do. There's also free live music by artists from Chicago, which I enjoyed seeing last year. This year we tried: Featured Chef - Diana Dávila's - Taste of Costra Taco de Nopal (crispy fried cheese taco shell filled with cactus) - Costillas de Puerco en Chamoy (smoked pork baby back ribs) Seoul Taco (my favorite food we tried) - Taste of Bulgogi Steak Seoul Taco - Taste of Spicy Pork Seoul Taco - Wagyu Truffle Mandu Fried Potstickers Joey G's Mac n' Cheese - Taste of Hot Cheeto Mac n Cheese Cafe Tola - Mini Empanada Beat Kitchen Cantina - Taste of Quesabirria - Soft Shell Crab Taco For the past 3 years, Taste of Chicago was held in September. This year, they changed it back to July and I could tell the difference immediately from how hot it was compared to the last couple years I went. The amount of people definitely made it feel even warmer too. There was a few times it was difficult to move because of the crowds, even though this year it seemed like they tried to spread it out even more. The restaurant booths spanned super far, and they also moved the food trucks. I preferred it being in September because it felt less crowded and was a little bit colder out.

STAY HUNGRY Crowds…read morestill flock to the Taste of Chicago despite scorching heat and steadily rising prices. 2025's Taste was held in September and the weather was sublime; in fact, that year was one of the nicest in recent memory.  2026's Taste was held in mid-July, and it was blazing hot.  I came here with my wife and two young kids on the last day (Sunday 7/12) and it was crowded. Unless you take public transit or live in the city, you'll have to pay handsomely for "special event" parking at any nearby garage--the closest ones are the Millennium Park and Grant Park underground garages for $41-$48.  If walking distance isn't an issue, Spothero can save you $20. After we met up with our friends, my wife got a $12 cocktail and I started with a 16oz can of Goose Island beer ($10).  I didn't eat a ton this year, but here's a sampling: * Pad thai noodles from Star of Siam ($6) - 5/5.  A decent portion, great flavor and nice condiments to add on top.  This has been one of the more consistent items at the Taste and I am all for it! * Italian beef empanada w/giardiniera dipping sauce ($6) - 2/5.  This came from a pop-up vendor that also had a live cooking demonstration; unfortunately, the empanada was hard as a brick and there was very little meat inside.  Cool idea but the execution was a little "wtf?" * Longanisa fries from Cebu ($6) - 5/5.  I especially liked the spicy mayo and sweet-salty seasoning on these fries that had a good amount of crumbled longanisa sausage. * Elote ($5) - 0/5.  I was incredibly excited to enjoy a juicy ear of corn-on-the-cob at the Taste of Chicago, and the only vendor that had this was popup booth Chillafry, as several others only sold elote in a tiny cup.  You could choose from plain/butter only, Mediterranean style, and Mexicali elote.  I opted for the Mexicali version, and it was a disaster.  Let's start with the ear of corn itself: a pathetic, anemic excuse for a classic midwestern vegetable.  Living in Illinois, we're literally surrounded by great corn, so I was stunned to discover that what they gave me was drier than my flip flop.  It was the polar opposite of plump & juicy--shriveled & dry as a bone.  On top of that, my corn looked like it had been run over by a truck and then set on fire.  It tasted like ash and despair.  "Roasted" corn?  More like "immolated". The days of hoping to see acts like Santana, Styx, Steve Miller Band and The Wallflowers are long behind us.  While there's normally a big (okay, moderate sized) name or two to headline the main stage, 2026 was devoid of any notable performers.  All I saw on the docket were DJs with funky names, so entertainment was 'N/A' as far as we were concerned.  Who the hell is Beach Bunny?? DO NOT give the people at the Bulls/White Sox tent any of your information, even though the 'spin the prize wheel' is awfully tempting.  They'll entice you with free tickets or a signed jersey, but their spiel is 100% timeshare bullshit and they will give your phone # out to every telemarketer in the galaxy.  Avoid these jackals, don't believe their lies.  RUN. On the positive side, there's a dozen or so inflatables in a shaded area south of Buckingham Fountain, a great place for kids to burn off some energy and cool down.  Each bouncy house/obstacle course has a Chicago Park District attendant nearby, which makes me feel better as a parent knowing there's at least a tiny bit of supervision. * TL;DR * I've been going to Chicago's 'Taste' for more than 30 years, and my opinions have reached a state of 3* equilibrium. Between the outrageous cost of event parking ($45+), food portion shrinkflation, and generally oppressive summer heat, I'm going to recommend to the wifey that we consider sitting out next year's Taste of Chicago. One could argue that you're paying for the whole experience, which is valid, but sitting on my ass at home with a pizza is a pretty nice experience too (plus it's air conditioned!)

There were only about four other people waiting and two employees working the truck. We ended up waiting close to 20 minutes for our food. As for the meal itself, the lobster was fresh, buttery, and flavorful. I wish the rolls had more of a toasted crispness, they were squished flat. We also weren't fans of the coleslaw because it tasted overly vinegary, maybe it was just an off day? We would have preferred some crunchy french fries versus the Cape Cod Chips. The highlight of the meal ended up being the chocolate whoopie pie for dessert -- absolutely delicious! Not sure if we would try it again?
