My daughter and I had a little beach day and at lunchtime we ordered a plain cheeseburger and their chicken tenders and fries. The food was good, exactly what you'd expect from a beachside food stall. I love that there is a bit of seating right next to it, but my guess is most sit and eat on the sand. The prices are a bit high but nothing too crazy. We will for sure order here again on our next beach day. read more

We came here for lunch after spending some time in the Field museum. It has plenty of picnic tables out at the front. It's also right next to the public bathroom. So it's pretty convenient. Food wise we got the beef quesadilla and al pastor nacho. The total came down to about $28. Beef quesadilla was ok. Al pastor nacho had little meat inside. I forgot I ordered Al pastor until James mentioned it because I didn't see any meat until the bottom of the paper bowl. The taste was ok. I wish I could leave negative stars. This place is just horrible. First the service is very unprofessional and the food is just disgusting. We spent $17 on total garbage. Elote (Corn in a Cup) was just gross the cheese tasted like cardboard and the rest of it was just dry. The funnel cake was literal pieces, it wasn't even a cake and the ice cream was nasty. The toppings for it was only a small scoop of this off brand vanilla ice cream and powdered sugar. Then here's where it got worse. So we also bought a cup of "fresh fruit". Went here yesterday, menu is small. My food here was terrible. I ordered something very simple. Hotdog fries and a coke. I was charge 11 dollars. ELEVEN DOLLARS FOR WHAT. I get my food and my hot dog bun is soaking wet. Don't know why. The Hotdog isn't any good. Then my fries are bogus asf. I can tell my fries were the fries on the bottom of the bag. Most of my fries are squished and broken In half. And they had no ice. I went to complain but I failed to realize theirs a sign all the way in the back where you can see it " no exchanges or refund" but I didn't see the sign that said " our food is trash eat at your own risk!!" And now, I have the runs. Now for the person I was with got tacos. She said they were good but then later came home to throw them all up. So it's probably not the cleanest place. This place used to be great, but is run by the laziest, rudest family you've ever encountered. They kept acting like we were inconveniencing them by eating there even though we were friendly and tipped well, and they've ended table service apparently permanently so in order to sit in the seating area and eat you have to make a giant detour to walk around to the front and stand in line for each drink or food item. When we left the beach, after having spent about $100 at this taco place, we asked for a little bag to store some sea glass in, and they acted like we were the most annoying people in the world. Update: the owner just responded to my Facebook review claiming my wife, who was served water only at the restaurant and had zero alcohol at all today, was drunk. Classy. We tried the al pastor, the carne asada & the chorizo/potato tacos: all were amazing! The owner/cook was super nice and chatted our ears off about his menu, recipes and locations. It was a shame to pretend that I knew any of the streets he mentioned, or that I'm from Chicago and will have any real opportunity to explore his company further. No matter. Del Campo is one of the South Loop's best hidden gems! Perched perfectly on the coast of 12th Street Beach, they have a full menu of American / Mexican cuisine. With the addition of their back patio with outdoor seating, Del Campo is a great snack stop on a warm Saturday or Sunday summer afternoon while walking the lakeshore. This joint is right on the 12th St beach. It's a small spot but the steak tacos are some of the best in the city. The chef literally cooks the steak on the grill behind the restaurant. He's a really nice person and says that most people end up ordering twice because they weren't expecting the tacos to be so good. I usually have the steak tacos and that's what this review is all about: the meat is seasoned well and cooked perfectly. The corn tortillas are a little crispy but still soft. Onion and cilantro plus some hot sauce is all you need on it. The Mexican style corn is also good but it's more of an indulgence. So if you're near the museum campus it's a must stop. I kid you not, I don't mess around with bad tacos and this spot is legit. read more

I recently went to an event that had a De Campo food truck in it. The staff was extremely rude, they were yelling at the customers to have their order ready, the menus didn't have what kind of meat they had so customers couldn't have their orders ready. They also didn't have any churros like advertised and the walking taco bag had vegetables on the pictures with jalapeños and cheese, I told them I didn't want any meat in it and got a Dorito bag with just cheese. This was $11 and you got about half of the chips you get in a $1 bag of Doritos. Please don't go here. read more

I love this place. We went to one of the stands and got tacos while walking in front of the aquarium. Met the owner who was so nice and told us about the stand by the beach. Just came back from hanging out on the patio planned on having one taco and ended up having five! The steak taco is amazing and there red sauce and salsa verde is really good. But then the owner brought us out the al pastor and the mango sauce. Im not a fan of al pastor normally, ive tried it dozens of times at other places and never been impressed but this one was so good. And with that mango sauce it was incredible.
