We went to see Dr. Nakagawa and were immediately given hope. He took a look as best he could since my son was in so much pain he could barely stand to open his eye. He felt fairly certain that my son had something called iritis - which is where the actual iris of the eye becomes swollen and inflamed. It's not a very common condition but my oldest son has it too. He prescribed drops and patiently explained his findings to us and asked to see him again the following week. Things have literally been looking better and better for my son under Dr. Nakagawa's care, and we have been doing weekly follow-ups until his ey completely returns to normal. The Dr. explained that it is a chronic condition with genetic markers that my son will probably have to deal with for his entire life, but that it can be managed with different eyedrops. Every time we visit, he is kind, compassionate and patient, and takes the time to thoroughly explain everything. Grateful to have found this wonderful doctor!

It's so heavy that it's not wearable (~50 grams with lens width at ~1 inch). I called and the staff told me it's because of the style and my prescription, and they offered to send the pair back to the lab to fix it. After waiting another 4 weeks, the glasses were "fixed", but weighted exactly the same. It appeared that nothing was done to it at all and it's so heavy that my $350+ sunglasses is useless. They told me that is nothing they can do about it, even though at the time of the previous visit I was told it would be worked on.

Warning to the South Bay: This is NOT the local, caring optometry office it pretends to be. They are part of VSP Ventures, a massive corporate giant (Google it & see attached pic), and it shows. They treat patients like numbers on a spreadsheet, not humans and repeatedly got my eye exams wrong. The Negligence: For six years, they failed to diagnose a standard condition I've had since 2017. In July 2025, Dr. Lee removed my astigmatism correction entirely. When I explicitly told her I couldn't see and questioned the prescription, I was dismissed. A manager promised to call me back--no one ever did. The Result: I spent months driving with dangerous, blurry vision and wasted over $3,000 on 9 pairs of useless glasses because I thought better glasses would help me, but the problem was their incompetence. I finally went to a new independent doctor (Leaf Optometry), who immediately diagnosed the issue and confirmed Manhattan Beach Vision Group has been getting it wrong for years after looking over all my previous prescriptions. Do not trust your eyes to this factory. They care about volume, not accuracy. Go to a real local doctor who actually listens and cares.
