Love Del Taco but some are better than others not only for the food but the employees. Dana Point is clean with plenty of parking. The hamburgers are better tham most I have tasted. Let's face it I am a big Del Taco foodie. The employees here are polite and well informed about their products and pricing. Unbelievably bad customer service from manager!!!! This once was a Dana Point staple but so many of my friends and I have found it so poorly run these days. Most wont come here anymore and I'm sure the neighboring fast food places flanking either side ( Macdonald's and Jack in the Box) are lovin' it. Mistakes made are common in fast food places but management blaming the customer? Filthy and poorly run equals don't go there! For decades I have frequented this establishment weekly or more but not now. I was first introduced to the poor management attitude a month ago and only this one visit has confirmed it has never changed. Priscilla (manager) treated me horribly today. When I confronted her about her attitude towards me she said she wasn't giving me attitude and then proceeded to say her elbow hurt. And here I found myself in a long ass line a little after 1AM on a Saturday night. This is the slowest drive through line I have ever participated in. And the food? I still ate it but. Come on. I called the store to resolve the issue, they never answered their phone and left the phone off the hook. Obviously from all the other negative reviews posted, this store is not managed very well and management is questionable. I called the corporate office and filed a complaint. Around 10:30 AM 4/21/2023 I was the only one in Drive thru and the cashier provided such unsatisfactory customer service no hello or smile or no return greeting after I spoke Hello. I asked to pay for a ranch side on the initial bill, she then says what! what is it? With attitude and my card in her hand, I calmly replied may I pay for ranch side please. With a total of 15.06 she hands my two bags and walks away. I signal as asking for ketchup and she hands me two. My disappointment falls with the management as you know your strongest staff with customer service skills should always be frontline. I knew when I initially asked for a food recommendation from the beginning of the order, this del taco would be a location I dodge when traveling to the beach. read more

Been eating at Del Taco for years. This one is definitely the worst as far as the food goes. I don't know where they store their taco shells but they are always stale. Also. The bean burritos are cold....never hot. The service is ok, I've only had a couple of issues. Hopefully the manager see's this so they can address the issue with the Taco shells and beans. read more

Last night I ordered food and the total came up to around $16. When I got to the window I tried to pay with a $50 bill but was told that I couldn't. I asked if this was an issue with making change but was told no again. Then I asked if I could order more food and pay with a $50 and once again was told no! One of the worst Del tacos I've been to. They forgot to hand me my drink in the drive thru, my fries were hardly warm and stale at 11:30am, and my churro was cold. This has been the pattern over the years. The Del taco in San Juan Capistrano is much much more up to speed and provides fresh ingredients and hot food consistently. I work in the service industry .. We ordered three things and the girl made me feel like she was annoyed then i added a root beer at the window and she acted like that was a big deal.. Then the root beer was bad and i asked them to change the syrup.. They told me to pick another soda.. Annoyed i got a coke. Then they got our whole order wrong so we went back.. Strike One: There is this one Latina girl who wears glasses. She has been there for awhile and it is guaranteed she will forget something in your order. Be careful and double check your order especially if you are using the drive thru. Strike Two: Asked for MILD sauce and this same lady gives me TWO packets of the Inferno sauce. I told her four times extra Mild sauce. No napkins. Strike Three: Most of their workers have no work ethic. Really amazes me that these are the people that one day will be running our country. They are not friendly nor do they say Thank You or welcome you back. Food wise, their Del Beef Burrito periodically has a dark orange oil stain on the tortilla which I believe is either shortening or melted residue from the cheese. I think they microwave these as quick serve perhaps. Stay away from the Epic burritos. The beef they use in this is tough and they use french fries as a filler not regular potatoes. A few weeks ago I was in this same line and there was a clerk at the window slowly taking orders. While doing this he was also looking at his cellphone. He then proceeded to fill his drink from the fountain and never once went to check on customer orders. Then he asks if I wanted sauce in an unfriendly manner. When I was in high school I worked at a popular fast food restaurant and we were trained when you work the drive thru window, you say something like, "Thank you for choosing Del Taco. What can I order for you today?" If the line is backing up you get a back up to help you fill the orders. Meanwhile you start making the drinks getting them ready to hand to the customer. When the customer reaches the window, you ask, "Your order is . . . (then repeat what they ordered). That will be X dollars". That is when you ask what condiments they wish to have! Hand the correct order to the customer and say, "Thank you for choosing Del Taco and hope to see you soon. Have a great day!" How hard is that? Very simple! Del Taco Corporate, listen up, with other similar fast food restaurants out there can you afford to lose to Taco Bell whose tacos are a bit better than a Del Taco? Read your customer's complaints and respond to them in a timely manner too. I have posted several opinions on their website but NO return calls or responses. How does this reflect on Del Taco overall? Very negatively! read more

The junkie who works in the early AM gives worse service than the food you receive. You can obviously tell he doesnt care to be there as you have no clue what he wants you to do since he barely talks and when he does talk it's almost as if he is whispering to the meth demons he looks like the type of person who swipes your card info when you're paying so I tend to check my bank account several days later. I hate to give such a shitty review but a wet fart has more personality and customer care than this guy. If you love quesadillas make sure you avoid this place like the plague... Everyone knows what's up with del taco... It's late, you're hungry and you don't wanna sit down at a Denny's. In this regard, this del gets the job done. Here are my only issues with this location: Rant I They used to have this killer drive-thru trash can just after the window. I loved emptying whatever undesirable contents my cup holder/side panels had collected. Empty water bottle? Boom! Gone! straw wrapper? See ya later! Receipt you'll never need? Slam F*****G Dunk! Peace! So I roll up to this fine establishment and immediately after paying for my meal I move forward to dispose of this empty ice coffee cup that had been giving me the stink eye all night. Just when I think my worries are over I come to a sad, sad sight... The drive-thru trash can is GONE! The next time I'm there I notice at the window that the garbage receptacle I once coveted is still missing. So I ask the lady if she can toss my empty water bottle and she tells me I can use the trash can around the corner... I pull around to the side and find my old friend, shoved in a parking lot corner, facing a parking spot...with a Prius in it! Are you kidding me Del Lady?! You direct me to a drive-thru trash can that I'll literally have to park, get out of my car, wedge myself uncomfortably close to a Prius, just so I can feed my junk beast once more. That is a damn travesty. Rant II 9/10 times I'm waiting in the drive-thru, a homeless man who looks like the lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers crawls out of the bushes and asks me for a cigarette. He seems like a nice guy but smells of urine and Popov and it would be in your best interests to: A. Have him removed from the premise so he no longer haggles your sensitive guests. B. Hire him so you at least have an explanation for his constant presence. There's also another local hobo who sometimes stands about 30 feet in front of the drive-thru window and stares right at you, which is super creepy considering it's 3am and I know my headlights are like staring into the sun, which he may do often. If you need a better mental image of him, picture Billy Bob Thornton in Sling Blade. If you don't know who I'm talking about, open a new tab and google images it. Other than that the service there is pretty good for a late night crew and the spicy chicken jack quesadillas will be worth the runs. 5 stars because the drive thru experience here sort of reminds me of the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland and the horrible turn my life has taken as an adult means I will grasp on to anything nostalgic enough to produce some serotonin in my brain...even if for just a moment read more

If I could give the service zero stars I would. I went here about two weeks ago and some younger girl was working and she so unprofessional, and made me feel stupid whenever I tried to say something at the drive thru. I go up to get my food and she of course forgot my chicken soft tacos. I then went again today and she was working the drive thru and it was the same service. I was giving her the benefit of the doubt the first time because I thought it may be her first day.... But this time it was just the same. I would suggest training your staff better OR getting new staff because I will no longer be returning.
