Kudos to Del this past week honestly. Recently it's been super packed, and I won't lie when I go every so often it isn't ALWAYS the best, but today really hit the spot. Got the red bold burrito because I haven't had it in FOREVER (highly recommend haha) and my girlfriend got her usual tacos with extra sour cream and cheese. I can tell they took their time making the food right rather than rushing through despite having a full drive thru. Ever since the building got updated, the service has been absolute garbage. Every single time I have gone since the update, they've gotten my order wrong. All but one time, they've put real meat in my burrito when I ordered a beyond burrito. I don't know how anyone could possibly get that wrong. The receipt literally says BEYOND Cali burrito. I have been going to this Del Taco for 15+ years and never have I had such bad service. Tonight we went to get food from there and the line for the drive thru was pretty long, but not the worst I've ever seen. So I decided to go inside to order instead. The sign outside says Drive Thru and Take-out available only which is understanding because of COVID-19. However the doors were locked. I got the attention of a worker inside who came to unlock the door to ask if I had a mobile order to which I answered with a no and that I just wanted to order takeout. He proceeded to tell me that they were "too busy" to do take-out orders. I wanted an explanation for the sign on the door, but was just told again in a rude and demeaning tone that they were too busy. He then closed the doors back up and locked them, ignoring the other customers who were coming up right behind me. I know it's a chain and they should all be the same, but there is always a slight noticeable difference in them all. I appreciate that they accept AMEX. They were pretty busy today, but not an excuse for poor quality food. Both lines, drive through and walk in, were long. While in line I was amazed watching the workers behind the counter. The amount of effort assembling the food was pretty bad. They were moving like there was only 1 person in line and no cars lined up. First time going to Del Taco, we got there around 1:30 pm. When arriving there was one customer in front of us getting their order, after that the cashier went away. I felt kinda foolish standing there waiting for the cashier to arrive, I would say it took about a 5 min wait. We order a wet chicken burrito, 3 crunchy tacos and 1 soft taco, and a chicken bowl. The chicken burrito we order was a bean burrito with cheese (that was a fail) It wasn't what we expected but oh well. The chicken bowl was okay (same as El Pollo Loco), the kiddos enjoy the tacos. This del taco is pretty cool they have a soda machine that lets you mix and match drinks to create a personalized soda which i have never seen before. The only problem i have at this del taco is the blonde cashier, she seems to always have an attitude with people and is constantly rolling her eyes when people take a long time to order. As far as fast food taco places go, this is one of the best. The quality of their meat and fillings surpass Taco Bell and their prices are better. Their breakfast items are decent. Their service (both in-house and drive-thru) is friendly and fast. I like how they have a 24-hour drive-thru. Their mini quesadillas are a bit of a joke but that would be my only con.
