One of my childhood friends has a tiny obsession with Del Taco, so after seeing photo after photo of her eating this deliciousness, I knew I needed to check it out the next time I was in Orlando. First off, it's fast food. Not fancy, no servers. You order your food, they call your number, you eat. We stopped in with the two little ones and decided to just order three of the Del Taco combo meals and a cheese quesadilla. These tacos TOWER over anything that the "other fast food taco shop" could offer. On the table, they offer three different types of sauces, all of them were tasty. I made an order with Del Taco through Door Dash, and I wanted to call to ask them not to forget condiments, etc. before the order went out. I spoke to a woman who was so nasty, so rude, so incredibly unprofessional, who would neither listen nor be helpful. She answered the phone with a nasty chip on her shoulder. I'm trying to communicate with her, to no avail. i ask her name, and she won't tell me. I express my shock at how she's behaving and mentioned that I am her customer who is happy to support them during a global pandemic. She said, verbatim, "WE DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR SUPPORT". After more rudeness, she hung up. Literally hung up on a customer who called to request condiments, etc. I never got to actually tell her why I called, as I could not navigate through the horrific nastiness of this woman. I called Del Taco Customer service that very day, and spoke to a person named Achilles, who somehow never got the report to anyone. After not hearing back, i sent more feedback via online. What happened here was unnecessary, unwarranted, and left quite an impression. i got a phone call FINALLY as a result of my online feedback. Spoke to a regional manager. Despite his telling me he would follow up, I never heard back, and can't help but wonder if he discovered that the GM, VESSA, was actually the person who behaved so poorly. Based on other reviews I see here, it seems my situation is not unique. I really enjoyed their food until this. I had actually placed an order the day prior and was so happy i had ordered again and was prepared to order OFTEN. But they won't see another dime of my money. There are FAR too many other restaurants in Orlando, and they genuinely APPRECIATE their customers and don't treat them like garbage. I just love this place. I grew up in San Diego, and there was a Del Taco by my school. I now live in Florida, and they just built a new one close to my home. Off of 192 and Poinciana BLVD. I had used my points to get a free epic burrito meal. Everything went as to plan but when they scanned the code. It didn't go through. The young lady at the register got a supervisor. So my girlfriend and I got little bit hungry when going to outlet so we decided to go here. We went to the drive-thru. We only wanted two del tacos and two water cups. The staff lady was nice to asked if we want cheesecake bites. We asked how much which was $3 something. She didn't give us a look or anything when we said no. In search of Churros!!!!! A friend and I were on a Churro hunt tonight and thanks to Yelp we found out they are in supply at Del Taco. I've only been to Del Taco twice (once for a free milkshake on my birthday and once for late night tacos) and both times certainly met my expectations. Tonight was no different. We ordered the cheesecake bites (2 for $2.40 or 4 for $4.20) and they were actually bite(s) size. It took about 4 bites to eat one of those. They came out piping hot (Thanks DT!!!) so we had to wait a few minutes before we could indulge. They were delish. I am curious how they would taste without the caramel inside, and rather as a dipping sauce. We also ordered Churros (1 for $1.00). Not only were the Churros huge but they were fresh and hot. This was my first time really eating one so I'm glad I had a great experience. I recommend Del Taco if you are looking for a quick and inexpensive taco, churro, or milkshake fix. The staffs are very unsanitized, they don't wear glove when making tacos and lay the taco on the counter with the wrapper on the bottom. GROSS!!! If Del Taco gave the option for you to choose from a 6-inch sub or a footlong sub like Subway does, then a regular taco would be the 6-inch and the Macho Taco would be the footlong. No joke! Haha. I got a kick out of their "sizes" as they are Small, Medium and Macho. Yes, Macho. Haha. One of the things that totally caught me off guard is that when you order a meal, you get a side a french fries. Happy that we looked on Yelp to find a Del Taco on the way to Tampa Bay. This location is an easy side trip off the interstate. Its just a block or two and they have parking that is easy in and out back onto the main street. The people working in here were very friendly. They were even super cool when we showed up wearing Seahawks gear. The food was fresh, and hot and the special orders were correct. The fries were just right, not too soft and not too browned. This location is open 24hrs and It's pretty empty during the day. The menu is fairly extensive from tacos, to burritos, quesadillas, churros, fries, salads, burgers and there is also a breakfast menu. This is the best of both worlds for my fiancé and I... I love tacos, he loves burgers and we both love fries! In fact my fiancé thinks this "taco" place has the best fast-food burgers around (Double Del, add bacon!). The chicken tacos are good (I do not like the beef) but the Medium "Del Scorcho" sauce is what makes it for me. In fact mix some Del Scorcho and some Ketchup and dip your fries too for a delicious spicy ketchup! The burritos are huge and overflowing with ingredients. The menu also has some delicious breakfast items for those who crave something a little less traditional. My only complaint is the less than helpful staff. When new items are on the menu and I ask what is on it they often forget an ingredient and sound annoyed. For a picky eater one ingredient, such as a sauce, can make or break on whether you want to order it. However, being in Orlando in the middle of the night and about to drive back to Gainesville, my friend and I were hungry and this seemed a better choice than McD's and it in fact was. The restaurant is a pretty typical fast food type place, but the staff is friendly, it was fairly busy, and my Baja shrimp tacos were pretty good. Say what you will about Del Taco, but I think it kicks Taco Bell's ass. You get much more food for your money, and I feel like the ingredients are much more quality and fresh. First time I ever had a Del Taco wasn't Las Vegas many years ago, so when a couple of new locations came to Central Florida recently I was looking forward to it. I'm nowhere near the University of Central Florida location; however, the one on I-Drive is not too far from my place of business so I've bounced over there for lunch a couple times (although the exact location kinda stinks). I keep it pretty simple as far as what I order: chicken and bean burritos. Usually three but they're so large I have no doubt two would suffice.
