I have eaten lunch at the Del Taco at 5290 Arlington Ave., Riverside CA at least once per week for the last 5 years. I shall not eat there again and here is why. Over that 5 years I have watched the customer experience and customer service decline to a level of outright contempt for their in-store customers. Of course you can only order at the kiosk, which isn't specific to this store but a complaint chain-wide. But then you have to stand there trying to get someone's attention just to ask for your cup so you can fill your drink while you're waiting for your meal. The employees ignore you for a while and then treat it like a hassle when they finally come over to see what you want. When the meal comes, they place your order on the counter, call out your name, then walk away. So by the time you get to the counter to take your tray there is no one there to help you with any followup needs or questions. Of course they have removed sauces from self-service, so you have to once again stand there like an idiot and wait for an employee to notice you, to ask for sauce. Then you have to go through the humiliation ritual of telling them exactly how many you want so they can count them out for you. Then when you finally get back to your table to start eating your nachos you discover that they did not include a fork. So you once again have to go to the counter and stand there like an idiot waiting for them to notice you so you can beg for a fork (also something that used to be available self-serve). So I complained about these inconveniences to the manager and her response was hostile. Not at all sympathetic or apologetic, just that "that's how we do it now" and she actually told me, verbatim, "if you don't like it you can go somewhere else". So that's what I will do. I will never eat there again. And if I find that these policies are now the same across their entire chain, I will have to eliminate Del Taco from my life entirely (except for the Barstow Del's which are still run by people who care). Order shows no cheese. When food was delivered everything had cheese! DoorDash resubmitted the order we also stated there is a dairy allergy, and delivery driver told employee to make sure there's no cheese which employee confirmed. Me and my friend ordered the same burritos, two with cilantro and onions added and one regular. We received the burritos two were labeled onions and cilantro and one with markings at all. We started to eat our burritos and noticed they were mislabeled. No markings had onions and cilantro and one marked onions and cilantro was a regular burrito. We went to the counter and told the Shift Manager April about the mix-up with the burritos. She said she didn't see the problem. We have the burritos we ordered. A message to the manager above April the shift manager currently working at your location on California and Arlington St. Redlands, Ca. I ordered 3 burritos and paid for 2 burritos added with onions and cilantro. 2 of the burritos were mislabeled, and I didn't receive the onions and cilantro on the burrito I originally ordered. Me and my friend talked with April about the mistake and she was serious about charging us again after she admitted it was her mistake...April would not provide us with a remake, or even a small side of onions, and cilantro to make up for the mistake she made. April exclaimed at the counter, "trade burritos" this is after we already taken a bite out of the mislabeled ones. March 17th 2020 around 11:30 pm I went through the drive thru for French fries. This is the day restaurants closed their Dining rooms to sit in due to the Corona virus. I get to the window to pay for my order. I noticed the guy had blue gloves on and he Opened the window, took my card, closed the window, brought my card back, closed the window again told me My order will be a minute. I look over and with the same gloves he just did all the above with, is over at the counter with a huge tub of grated cheese, dumping it in another tub, rubbing the nasty gloves through the cheese trying to even it out. He then gets my order, opens the window, gives me my order, all while still wearing the gloves. I could not enjoy my breakfast, because of someone who does not know how to listen. I just left this del Taco destination after watching the manager, Jeff, mistreat his customers. While waiting in line I witnessed a postal worker trying to work out a problem with the manager who could not have behaved in a more Callous or indifferent manner. The postal worker was explaining to the manager that they had made an error in his order that he had made over the del Taco app. The manager was completely unmoved by the customers dilemma and refused to help. While the manager admitted that there has been an error, he blamed it on the app and said that there was nothing he would do about it. Again, he reviewed the customers phone, admitted that the customer had been shorted but still refused to offer any solution. Instead, he said that "that was his problem" and would have to contact the people who are in charge of the app. I then confronted the manager (Jeff) and told him "man to man, that was kind of an asshole move". I told him that he was the manager and should have offered to make things right and complete the man's order correctly and as paid for through the app. The manager then became irate with me and told me he didn't want my business either. The manager had two really good chances to resolve this problem but failed at both opportunities. First he could have given the postal worker his correct order, as it was ordered (and paid for), and then again when confronted by me he could have been a real man and taken accountability and fixed things. Instead, he chose to escalate things and stubbornly offended both customers. The postal worker thanked me on my way out for standing up for him, and the other customers clapped and cheered me for confronting the manager. While I'm sure the manager has his own version, I think it is fair to glean from the reaction of the other customers where the truth lies. Some people don't belong in customer service jobs. I won't eat there again. By the way, I'm next door at the jack in the box. It turns out it's just as easy to spend my money here as it is at del taco! read more

I grew up down the street from this Del Taco and I've been coming to it my whole life. As almost everyone has already mentioned in the comments it is the staff/customer service that alone would get 5 stars. Jennifer is who I usually get in the evenings taking the drive thru orders. She very polite and enthusiastic and legit sounds like she cares about giving you a good fast food experience. Honestly for fast food I don't even care too much about employee interactions since it is just a quick transaction but she is on another level and it can't help but make you smile. The food is food. It's not bad for fast food and the fries are always crispy and salty like I like them. I love the fresh shredded cheese in the tacos etc. and I they put a good amount of green chilies in the quesadillas. I do have to laugh though because today, even though the bathroom doors are in full view of the drive thru cars, I watched a female come out and about a minute later a guy from the same bathroom. People don't be nasty, you can do better then a quickie in a Del Taco bathroom. No shame haha. read more

It's really sad that I will only go to Del Taco if a certain woman is working because she will actually take my order. If anyone else is working, it's a waste of time because I will go at 4 AM and be refused service, even though their drive-through is 24 hours, and when I go, they will say they're not taking orders at this time. I understand that you have your state mandated breaks but wouldn't it be smarter to take these breaks at separate times so your coworker can take my order and earn your store money? I just visited the location on Van Buren in Riverside, store #237 today at 3:41 pm. My husband and I drove through the drive thru and ordered two combo number ones. both upsized to medium. We ended up staying in the parking lot to eat instead of driving home and good thing we did because the order was incorrect. As I was reaching in the bag i noticed they were soft tacos. I ordered hard shell tacos.. I really dont care for the soft shell tacos. So i took the bags back into the store and let them know what happened. The girl reached into our bags and pulled out the tacos. Mean while my fries were still in the bag but my husband kept his. I thought for sure she would replace my fries after fishing in my bag for the wrong tacos but no. As the lady in the back was making my tacos i believe what maybe to be the manager, asked the drive through girl if she repeated the order. I dont think that was professional to do so in front of me, it made me feel like i was in the wrong. After replacing my tacos i returned to my car with my now old and touched fries to eat my tacos. I bought two epic Crispy chicken burritos, two deluxe chili cheese fry, and one chicken quesadill. Both epic chicken burritos We're literally falling in on each other, the burrito felt like a loose glove. The burrito did not have the firmness because there was not enough toppings inside of the burrito. The burrito literally had a pinch of lettuce, One chicken strip, a pinch of tomatoes and no sauce or guac on either burrito. The french fries had no sour cream, barely any chili or meat or whatever the sauce is that is put on the fries and no onion or tomato, just cheese. The chicken quesadilla was never put in the bag. I waited an extra 10 minutes while they prepared my food off to the side because it was not ready yet through drive-through. Tammy is the best thing that has happened to this Del Taco. She is truly an amazing person with such an uplifting spirit. I've been having such a rough week (and even worse weekend) so I stopped by here tonight for a late night snack. As soon as I arrived, she was upbeat and happy and my mood got 1000x better. She is such a genuinely nice person that you can't help but to feel happy around her! Her customer service skills are perfect and she makes each one of her customers feel welcomed, not like a bother. If there is anything an employee should strive to be, they should strive to be more like her & the rest of the employees here. Not to mention, this location has the quickest employees! I've been here when the line was wrapped around the building but I've never been waiting for more than 5 minutes. Even during peak hours, they still have a smile on their faces and treat you decent. Let me set the scene for you. Across the street in the old Sears building is Spirit of Halloween, my husband and I are enjoying a casual Sunday just doing a little spooky shopping and bam it hits. I run to the front to ask the greeter if they have a public restroom. She look at me half confused then said, oh yes outside and pointed. I dashed to the door and ripped it open and proceeded down the walkway fearing I would not make it and what would come. Outside bathrooms are notorious for being disgusting. As I'm descending on the commode I realize, this is a clean bathroom. I look around and the lighting is bright, there is no grime anywhere, and hell it even smelled nice until I destroyed it. Best cleanest outdoor bathroom.
