A friend of mine raves about this place! I'm always in a quest for the best breakfast and brunches in Columbus, so naturally I had to try this local staple. I browsed the menu and you all know that I'm fan of corned beef hash. Their menu stated they had the best in Columbus, so of course I had to get it! Let's give them kudos for the chunks of corned beef! I mean, WOWZERS! we're not talking that minced or ground up stuff. If you are a meat person, the corned beef to potato ratio is in your favor. It was tasty, a bit too salty for me, but delicious nonetheless. I missed having a bit more potatoes, though. The coffee reminded me of my early coffee days sipping on freshly brewed coffee on a Saturday morning. No frills, just a nice hot cup of java. My friends and I went here bright and early when they opened at 6:30a.m., and it was already pretty full -- probably a sign of repeat customers. Like most diners, it had a very homely feel, and we felt free to have a good time laughing and joking with each other. Our food came out pretty quick. We all ordered different things, and overall, everyone was satisfied with what they had ordered. I will say the hash browns did weirdly taste of cheese. My friend really likes cheese, so she enjoyed them, but I found it a little off putting. I put it at four stars only because our waitress didn't seem to care for us much. She always seemed to be in a rush and would ask questions as she was literally walking away. We stopped here after hearing how good this place is in particular the pancakes. Honestly, I had to wonder, how good can pancakes be? However I found out the answer to this after breakfast here. The chocolate chip pancakes had a slightly buttery, sweet, and so very fluffy texture, and quite possibly may be the best pancakes I have ever had. The eggs and chicken sausage were also delicious. My husband ordered hash browns, biscuits, and yogurt with granola and was definitely impressed. The service was also great as well. The ambiance is typical for a diner but they have it set up to where you can see the food being cooked which is nice. The menu is also full of options and the prices are excellent! Finally got a chance to try this place after hearing a lot of rave reviews. Inside is like a retro greasy spoon & coming from NJ, the land of diners, I was all for it. We sat at the counter, and after having to wait a bit because they were hopping, the waitress took our order. When we sat down there had been a young lady at the end of the counter, right next to us, portioning out potatoes for future use I guess. Then one of the gentlemen behind the counter made some sort of announcement about burgers and placed two packages of raw meat on the counter beside us and sliced them open. Then he walked away and the meat sat there for several minutes. You can see in the pics how close it was and there were bits of what looked like corned beef around the counter near the slicer that was there. After several minutes we asked a waitress if someone could please wipe the counter and remove the raw meat. Her answer was "well that's because she's going to slice it." and then asked us if we wanted to "slide over" to the next empty seat. After explaining that wasn't the point and that the raw meat shouldn't be out on the eating surface we decided this was not a good sign and left. It cannot be safe to have that opened raw meat out on the counter where people are eating and is a contamination issue. This is not a new concept, but an established policy in food prep and safety. I would encourage people to rethink eating here because if that's what they are doing in plain sight I can't imagine what is not being handled properly behind the scenes. Perhaps a check in from local health inspectors would be a good idea. Do better Delaneys. Edited to add: #1 Customers are not to be sat in prep areas. Prep areas are to imply knives and other kitchen prep equipment are in the vicinity of customers which is an Osha violation. #2 Plastic bags for cryovac items can and will leak. This is why, no matter what, raw meat is ALWAYS store on the bottom shelf of your walk in and away from RTEF (Ready To Eat Foods). Had there been a leak in the packaging of that beef(and it was sliced open )that countertop needs to be cleaned with a soapy solution in a green bucket and sanitized with a solution in a red bucket as per state board of health guidelines. 3. If state and local HACCP guidelines are ignored in the same manner but involving an allergen you now have a cross-contact situation where a customer can get very, very sick. 4. How long have you been related to the local health inspector and/or how much are you paying them? The correct response to my review should have been: "We are very sorry about the situation. We pride ourselves on upholding the highest quality of service. This was an unfortunate mistake that will not be replicated. As a token of good faith dinner is on us next time." read more

Love this spot. Very clean and well maintained. Food is excellent - pancakes are consistently a hit which is always a plus from a diner and the conewich is so fun! Biscuits are great too. Prices are reasonable and service is good, super kind and not overly attentive but still present if you need something. Unexpected good food at Delaneys. My wife got the two eggs, bacon, and French toast. You can substitute pancakes for the French toast. Egged were perfect and bacon extra crispy just as she likes it. Two rather large slices of French toast which she shared with me. I ordered the corned beef breakfast with two eggs, basted. Eggs were delicious and perfect. The corned beef was large chunks and chewy. There was a lot of corned beef, too much for me to finish. I wasn't happy with my choice but I won't knock the restaurant for that. Eggs were delicious. Next time I'll order an omelette Maddie was our server and as with the other employees she was out going and efficient. Food arrived quickly. Lots of parking around the restaurant. Delaney's is easily my favorite place for some local breakfast cuisine. There is usually a wait but they get through the line pretty fast considering they don't have a ton of tables. We went on a Saturday morning at 10 am and waited about 20 minutes for a party of 2. I've never had anything bad here, but the pancakes are probably the best. If you add blueberries they seriously taste like blueberry muffins. I usually get the 2 eggs with meat, hashbrowns, and toast and then add one pancake because they are plenty big enough to only have one. The servers are always kind and quick. On top of that the prices are incredibly fair. I will keep coming here as long as they don't change the pancake recipe up on me! read more

I am a frequent customer; the cook knows our order. Today the owner was there and was immediately rude to me. I talked to the cook and she said "Where is your order? I told her I hadn't placed an order yet. I was talking to the cook. She said nothing goes by this kitchen unless it goes through me. And I let her straighten the face as well I wasn't really talking to you and I walked away. Our food took 45 minutes. I watched every table around us to get served first, I feel this was on purpose. People left. They got there after me with to go boxes and I still haven't received my food. When I got my food, it was ice cold, I tried to explain to the waitress what was going on and how I felt this was on purpose and she dismissed me too and causing me to actually burst into tears and I left the restaurant without paying My Bill, leaving all my food on the table. I don't know what's going on at Delaneys this morning, but I left. Customer service especially from the owner was that at all time low. this morning the diner had a Waffle House vibe ( once I posted this you can see the response from the owner.) un accountable and blame shifting. I wasn't yelling at people at the counter. I was talking to my favorite cook Robert my cousin and I we have camaraderie with Him and he always jokes about how I order my hashbrowns. COVID UPDATE. My original review pre-covid is down the page. I avoided Ds in the first 10 months of the pandemic, only because of its popularity and we let others get in! Today after a weekday early doctor visit, we stopped in here after 9am. Yes, the seating space is limited, but we got right in. When this is over, I'll happily go back to sitting tight among all the Delaney's regulars. Food and service was excellent from start to finish. This little dinner is an absolute gem! Situated in a little strip of shops in a quiet neighborhood, Delany's hits home runs on every front. I went with my daughter and grandson on a quiet Monday afternoon for brunch and from the moment we walked in we felt welcome and special. We were greeted with smiles and seated immediately in a room that felt both quaint and full of life but still on the quiet side. All the chrome and formica fit the dinner vibe to a tee. The textured chrome panels along the wall were a nice touch. The food was great, bacon was perfectly prepared and the French toast was great but the service we received was nothing short of spectacular! Every staff member who passed by our table checked on us with a smile and a pat for the baby. I wish I lived closer! Also, I read a few reviews that described the place as less than clean and the food as greasy.
