This is a cozy seat yourself cafe. There is no check-in counter and it is wait in the line and find a clean table kind of place. Servers will bring menus to the table. It is a pretty classic cafe menu choice with breakfast and lunch options. The food is good. I ordered the Big Nasty. The biscuits are fluffy and the gravy has good flavor. Family owned and a local business this is a spot to support. I love that the creek is beside the cafe, it seems like a pretty walk. read more

Most complicated part of our visit was figuring out where to park and how to walk from the parking lot to the restaurant. That being resolved, we had a lovely time. You seat yourself (and be aware, it is a small -- very cute!-- diner-style space with limited tables inside and a few outside overlooking the creek-- so you may have to wait if you are there during a rush). Tables are a little run-down (ripped booth seats etc), but it does enhance the small town restaurant feel. Menu has traditional diner fare with a few marked specialties, like their eggs Benedict and "Big Nasty" biscuits and egg plate (both of which we ordered). Service was friendly and attentive-- but, the food took a very long time (our server even commented on it). I did appreciate that they brought out small (free) muffins for tables to hold us over while we waited for the entrees. The meals, when they arrived, were well made and seasoned. I came on a Sunday for brunch and was looking for some good greasy food! The cafe was a little small inside and there weren't very many people working. It was all seat yourself and there was a line, everyone was respectful and waited their turn but it probably would've been easier and run more smoothly had there been a host. Once we were seated we were greeted by a very friendly server. We were able to order quickly but there was quite a wait on the food. I ordered a coffee, orange juice, the lil nasty, pancakes, and fries. When my coffee was running low there was always someone nearby to fill up my cup! The orange juice wasn't great, but wasn't bad either. The lil nasty was amazing and such a great deal for the price. The pancakes were very yummy and great price as well. The real star of the show was the seasoned waffle fries which were so crispy and delicious. Overall, this place has pretty good diner style food for GREAT prices. Everything moves a little slow, so it's not great if you're in a rush but is nice if you're looking to sit down and take your time. I'll definitely be back! read more

After being seated, it took about 45 minutes for our food to arrive, and drink refills weren't offered until then. We were here a couple of months ago and I swear I wrote a review, but it's gone. Oh, well, gives me a chance to write one again (and reminds me to go back, maybe this week.) We went on a weekday morning and it was steady but not busy. Our waiter was friendly and efficient. I got the Big Nasty, which is sausage gravy and biscuits plus eggs, bacon or sausage, and potatoes. It was huge, and tasty. Sweetie got pancakes and bacon and enjoyed them. Maybe not the best breakfast ever but pretty darn good, plus huge portions at a low price, plus great service. Plus a cozy atmosphere inside, and a nice view outside with the creek. Plus, in a historic building (a plaque outside says it is 200 years old this year- wow!) Their cinnamon rolls are gigantic, and at only $4.99, I had to try one. They make it fresh from scratch on demand so it takes awhile to be served. For us, it was a 35 minute wait. It was good, though a tad undercooked. Understandable as me and my companions weren't the most patient diners ever. One thing they could have done to better serve their customers is bring out the food that was ready first and then, as we ate, brought out the roll - after it was thoroughly baked. I got the waffle and sausage links. My sister, who also got a roll, had a cheeseburger. All three of us agreed the food was good. The coffee was very good. Cafe Creekside is a nice little diner located - you guessed it - right along the creek in Gahanna. In season, they also offer outdoor dining - creekside - but today's weather still needed to be warmer to try outdoor dining. Being the burger freak that I am - I had to try one of their burgers and settled on the jalapeno/pepper jack burger which was served with lettuce, tomato, and onion on a grilled bun. I opted for the $0.50 upcharge for outstanding waffle fries - well worth the upgrade cost. The burger itself was prepared using a frozen, pre-made patty but it was prepared very well. The pepper jack cheese and jalapenos were the perfect accompaniment to this burger. If not for the relatively generic frozen patty - this burger would have been a home run. The waffle fries were five-star. My wife went for the beef version of the Philly cheese steak (there is also a chicken version) and she opted for the $0.99 upgrade to onion rings. She said the onion rings were fantastic (five-star) and that the sandwich was very good but not great. Service was excellent; prices are very reasonable. I'll definitely be back to try something else on their menu. BTW - this is a breakfast/lunch place and it closes at 3:00pm. read more

For Cafe Creekside I knew from its blue canopied entrance and white boarded façade close to the street that it would have a midcentury theme inside, which I like; that it would celebrate its local connection, which I like; that its rooted in the history of the town, which I like; that it would have comfy booths and tables nested in a cozy space; and that it would have a Club Sandwich, which I like and knew I would like it, which sure enough I had in its generous portions and I was happy as I was craving a club when I suggested the place driving by. This breakfast, brunch spot on Granville St sits the corner off the end of the main drag of Old Gahanna. Cafe Creekside is a continuance of Creekside Cafe, the name changing quite imperceptible in 2007, and closes at 3pm after seven hours of sizzling egg Benedict, pancakes, and sandwiches. Much beloved by its regulars, the Cafe was saved from closure when during the pandemic and subsequent lockdown several customers paid money the joint owed that would had shutdown it down forever. The decor reflects this connection to community with a wall of pictures of local people, streets, and scenes. My freshly made club, cut triangularly and on skewers, hit the spot with its melody of meats and mayo. My choice of fries was plentifully poured on top, making a favorable comparison with Gahanna Gille, whose sides were not as generously proportioned. My girlfriend chose a BLT and added an egg, sunside up, to the summer sandwich staple. It was huge and juicy and with her pick of waffle fries satified her hunger deep into the evening.They also have a nicely selected kids menu. Park in the lot adjacent to Wendy's. If the day is nice take a trek down the wooden stairs to the tree darken walk near the creek. A few feet down another stairway takes you up to the back of the Cafe and its shaded patio. The walk may make you think of a New England fishing village, but it's fully Central Ohio. You can't judge a restaurant from its back alley. read more

This place was packed on a Sunday morning, and for good reason. The food was well prepared, it did take a second to come out but they were busy and it's understandable. Came here on a Saturday morning. It was quite busy, with a line out of the door, but, we didn't have to wait terribly long. Our waiter was extremely friendly and attentive, and got us situated right away. I ordered a cinnamon bun before my meal. It was VERY saucy with a amount of the frosting on top, but I actually love lots of sauce/icing. If you don't, be aware when you order that. My meal was the eggs Benedict, a menu favorite, with potatoes. I had no complaints about the Benny, lots of the hollandaise sauce on top, and the potatoes were seasoned nicely. Today I found a small listing for a dish I love but have never tried here - chicken and waffles. It appears that I have been over looking something truly special. A perfectly portioned and masterfully prepared dish was placed at in front of me. A presentation that was a little more than one might expect in a diner. Stopped by on a Sunday morning, this was my 1st time there. It is a very small place. As soon as you walk in, you see the entire establishment. Since I was by myself I sat at the bar. The stools are rock hard. I was greeted promptly upon sitting and ordered a drink. I perused the menu and then ordered half waffle, eggs, potatoes and bacon. That took about half an hour to receive. A young lady walked around and provided some tiny, extremely dry muffins for us to eat while we wait. Other than the wait, I would definitely go back again. 2 weeks ago, I went there in the morning for brunch and almost every table was full. My partner and I sat at the bar. A couple who entered right behind us sat at a table (it's a seat yourself kind of place). I watched an employee behind the bar (which we were seated at) go over to the table right away, give them menus and greet them. My partner and I waited about 5 minutes. There were 3 employees who appeared to be servers who walked through the bar area and we were not acknowledged AT ALL. No greeting, no "I'll be with you in a min." Not a smile. Nothing. Sooooo after listening to my physical therapist and looking at others pictures on Yelp, I decided to order breakfast from Creekside Cafe. Honey...I don't know if this is an off week for them or since we're in quarantine, they decided to half-ass the food but this was not good. The hash is supposed to be chopped...This looks like it came from a can and it smelled weird....tasted like tuna for some reason. There was no onions or peppers and I think it had potatoes but I can't even be sure that's what it was! My waffle was soggy....My daughter had french toast and for some reason the powdered sugar was crunchy:/ I'm convinced that the pictures on here HAVE to be from some other place because this ain't it chief... Thank goodness I ordered potatoes on the side because the eggs and potatoes is all I ate. This was thrown away...I guess you gotta be a different kind of person to eat here. I am not someone that knows the Gahanna area called Creekside. Saying that it was by chance when we found Cafe Creekside. Find it then maneuvered into and through Wendy's to find public spaces in the back. If there were signs signaling public parking on the street, I didn't find them. I like and appreciate the quaint homey appeal of the interior. All employees were wearing their masks and I was very happy seeing that. We were ours and take them off when seated. FOOD AND PRICES are so reasonable making frequent visits possible. I like the menu. I didn't ask questions about whether the hash, biscuits, gravy were homemade. I didn't need to bc they were so good. SERVERS / EMPLOYEE CREW are so cool. They work! Everyone I witnessed working have every customer the attention and care deserved with calming kindness! What a hidden gem!! My daughter lives in Gahanna and had never been so one weekend while I was visiting we decided to give it a try. The breakfast was amazing I got the meal that comes with eggs potatoes sausage pancakes and toast. (No I didn't eat it all) I just needed to try everything and it was well worth it. Visited for our first and last time on a Tuesday at about 10am. We seated ourselves and waited, and waited, and waited. It appeared there were only two people waiting tables. After ordering we again waited and waited to receive our food. Eventually I did get a refill on my coffee. There were four people in our group. One said their food was good. I was so looking forward to liking this place. I am disabled and have a service dog. We went to eat here and was asked for a card or papers for the service dog. Pet ADA there are no legal registries so this is not possible. Then they wished to state it was a health hazard. Again under ADA this point is mute. Eventually, she saw a service dog tag, which was purchased from Amazon, on my dog and allowed us to sit. Per ADA there are no legal registries, identification cards, a health code violation etc are not reasons for refusing service. A business is allowed to ask two questions, 1. Is it a service dog and if the answer is yes, what tasks does it perform. If the dog is unruly, using the restroom, causing destruction or barking then you can be asked to leave. Once we were seated everyone seemed nice and the original person apologized for the situation. I ordered the chicken and waffles and my dining companion ordered the biscuits and gravy. The chicken tenders were pounded thin. Perhaps too thin at the chicken was dry and had no taste. Then the waffle tasted good and my complaint was it was only 1/4 of a waffle. My dining companion stated that the biscuits and gravy was good. She enjoyed her meal. I understand that Ohio also has laws regarding Service or Assistance animals however ADA, which is federal law. Federal law trumps state so I would recommend that the business review their policies regarding registrations and identification cards. Perhaps also speak to an attorney to understand what the requirements and restrictions are. read more

This was such a cute find in Gahanna! My mother and we're looking for a lunch spot and this diner popped up as a recommendation. After perusing the menu of standard American breakfast and lunch fare, we decided to try it. The diner is in an old tavern building from the early 1800s, yet it's very clean and well maintained. It's right above the scenic creek and has tables outside to enjoy the view. Inside, you seat yourself and enjoy the various vintage photos and memorabilia around. The wait staff was young, pleasant, and very capable and competent. My order and my mother's were correct despite our modifications. The cook staff would chat to customers from behind the bar and it was very apparent that locals return often here. My mother and I both had a traditional breakfast of two eggs, bacon, and the red skinned potatoes. It comes with toast, but we opted not to have it. The eggs were cooked to order, the bacon was crispy and flavorful, and the potatoes were delicious! My mother added on a small cup of fruit, and like the main courses, everything was very affordable and reasonably priced. Both of our meals, including tip, ended up being less than what I normally pay for a meal when brunching with friends. We overheard a patron say that the chili was the best she ever had. The cook confirmed with them that she makes all the soups from scratch. I overheard another party state that her coconut cream pie was to die for. I'll try that on a cheat day!
