Ending up at Delavida was a very happy accident. I intended to bring my wife to a different restaurant, but they laughed me out for not having a reservation. So we walked down the street into this joint, and it was delightful! First of all, the prices are very friendly for the amount of food you get. Second, even though the server was working solo, she was very attentive. Third, the food was excellent! The vibes were also unique. It was pretty dark with mood lighting inside, which made walking outside to use the restroom an intense 180. We split a mango chicken dish and steak with chimichurri sauce and rice. It blended together so well that I didn't want the food to run out. We split a bottle of wine, which was less expensive but higher quality than we would usually afford. We were recommended this place by our Air BNB host. The ambiance is nice and they're in a hip party area of town. They check ids at the door because it seems like they have a clubby area in the back. Excellent!!! We came here with a very large group on a Thursday. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was great. A salsa band started playing on the patio around 9pm and there were locals dancing all night long! They have a couple of bars (indoor and outdoor) as well as multiple spaces for a private event. This restobar is right on the outskirts of La Placita - a very fun spot for drinks and dancing on Thursday and Friday nights. The restaurant got a lot of large parties at the same time so our meals came out staggered but the drinks were flowing, so we didn't mind! The pace of dinner is also typically a lot slower in PR. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. Favorites included the avocado salad (so fresh!), the mofongo, and the grilled Mahi Mahi in garlic sauce with mashed root vegetables. The cocktails were superb - especially this spicy tequila one (I forgot the name). Highly recommend - this is one of our favorite cocktail, food and dancing spots in San Juan!! read more

My mofongo con churrasco almost brought a tear at first bite, the jugo de palcha was the best! and kicked up a notch with a shot of Tito's, but the best thing of all (hard to even say because everything was fabulous) was the flan. Por tu MADRE!!! Que rico cońyo!!!!! The silkiest, most delicately sweetened flan I have ever had the pleasure to eat. My God! I can not WAIT to go back! Our driver Mercado (by the way best transportation service I've ever had, and I travel a lot!) recommended this place, and me and my work companions are so grateful he did!! Other table faves were the Mac n cheese con ropa vieja. Ummmmm What!!!! Sounds insane but this was oh-so-good with little hidden gems of platano maduro; creative, different and delish! Nothing is better than ordering food and it comes out PIPING hot and mind-blowingly delicious! And the Arroz momposteo was incredible! It's basically arroz con abichuelas, but a bit more moist. This was my final dinner when visiting Puerto Rico. The ambiance was amazing-great energy, dim lighting, helpful/friendly staff. I ordered the Mofongo and Delavida's version of an aperol spritz. Both the food and drink were memorable, flavorful, and delicious. They have a patio bar with a dj as well. I didn't check it out but it seems like a great place to meet with friends and enjoy a meal followed by calorie burning dancing. Very clean bathroom. I learned that here in San Juan you gotta speak up! As a local told me; the quiet mouth doesn't get fed! I say this in every review I've made for San Juan because being from NYC were used to being the center of attention as guests! The way things work here are different and there is a cultural difference as well! Keep this in mind! The host was wonderful and greeted me. This block and this bar restaurant is very popular and busy at all times I highly recommend getting there early! They were COVID conscious and made sure proper precautions and rules were being established and practiced. The food took a while to come but again, it was busy and they were short staffed. Food: Ordered two Fish Tacos Omg So good. I loved the balance between the fish the cabbage and the sauce! Fantastic! Drinks: The drinks were great! Tasted balance and semi sweet! I had the passion fruit vodka! It's PR version of the cranberry vodka over here haha. Could have been a little stronger in my opinion but that's because I have a high tolerance! I'm usually picky with what I eat when I travel and seafood is usually my go to. I must say this salmon was very tasty! The risotto was cooked with fried plantains and it was full of flavor. When I went it was also National Vodka Day and they served these passion cocktail specials that were sooo good! When it comes to the restaurant itself. The place is pretty cute, a bit upscale compared to other restaurants on the strip. There is an outdoor area and the inside area is a bit small. It appears there was another side that was playing music but it wasn't open at the time we went. We were on our way to José Enrique but the wait was long as usual and ended up in DelaVida. We were nervous at first because there were only 2 reviews on Yelp but my brother was very hungry and decided to try it out. All three of our dishes had a great presentation along with great tastes. The Maposteao that accompanied the churrasco was very flavorful and one of the best I've tasted in Puerto Rico. The Pan seared Halibut was one of our favorite dishes. Several weeks in advance we had the concierge at the Hilton Caribe make dinner reservations for us at this restaurant as we were excited about the live music. When we arrived for our 7 pm dinner reservations the restaurant had no lights illuminated and eventually an employee came outside and advised that it was closed without any explanation. We confirmed with the hotel concierge that they were never notified and stated they would not be recommending this restaurant to any of their guests since it would have taken them seconds to simply call to advise so alternative dinner plans could be made. So we spent money taking an Uber to this place, wasting our money and precious vacation time and were without dinner reservations which are necessary for the restaurants in La Placita de Sanurce. Thus, either this restaurant is incompetent or doesn't care about its customers. In either case, I would never recommend anyone waste their precious time or money to visit regardless of the actual quality of food. read more

Our server, Alexandra, recommended the churrasco steak. It came with sautéed spinach and we ordered a side of mushroom risotto (for extra). My goodness, both were amazing. A must try. We ordered the steak medium and it was so tender you didn't need a knife to cut it. The mushroom risotto had an amazing flavor and was well balanced with the sautéed spinach and cherry tomatoes. I was excited to go here for dinner. Their menu on their website looked great and was in English and Spanish so we could tell what everything was. We went to the reataurant tonight however and the menu was in Spanish (no English) and it was a totally different menu than the one online. The waitress was nice but we ultimately ended up leaving. We went to San Juan Smokehouse. They sat us outside so we got to see people salsa dancing and music playing. And the food was great. Turned out for the best. My steak was nicely cooked on one side and tough on the other and the avocado salad was bland with no dressing and just gross! We went for a birthday last nigth. We went downstairs to the restaurant. Our waitress was very nice. We order mushroom risotto and ropa vieja mac&cheese. The risotto taste like out of the box instant risotto-very artificial flavor. The mac and cheese...well it has cheese... so so meleted shredded cheese. No cheese sauce at all like it is suposed to be. Ropa vieja was very dry. At least my grey goose Madras had fresh OJ. Will not go back for dinner. Upstairs we open an account at the bar. Upon closing 2 drinks that we didn't order were charged. I reclaimed and the guy said my boyfriend invited someone else those drinks something that wasn't true. My boyfriend confronted him and they didn't have other choice to change our ticket. We will never go back to that place read more

Debut and farewell ... Yesterday, Sunday I went with a group to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday and everything was horrible. We were a large group, so I understand that it took a while to be able to sit us, but once we were seated it was in under the sun in the middle of the day. Only after much insistence on our part did the waitress move us to the space available under the tent. The waitress took the first order of drinks and after bringing them disappeared for a long time and did the same a second time. When she finally decided to take the food order we asked if they could make the pizzas they had on the menu but only with cheese for the kids and she said no problem. She returned half an hour after taking the food order to tell us that they did not have the materials to make the pizzas. Even though we were bothered that it took so long to let us know we continued waiting for the rest of the meal. 10 minutes later she returned to say that there were no steaks, which 7 people in the group had ordered. It is unacceptable that if they do not have the inventory of what they are offering on the menu, it takes 45 minutes to let us know after we have ordered the food. Needless to say we paid for the drinks and left and will not be coming back. read more
