Oh man something happened with their cheesesteaks. The cheesesteak I had this week is not the cheesesteak of old. It's been a few years since I've had theirs again and it's a totally different product. The texture and taste is that of a Wawa cheesesteak. More chewy, roast beef type texture. Going in I had heard stellar reviews. So I had high expectations. I'd say they were met. The flavor of the beef is quite fresh and tasty. The cheese melts perfectly. The roll had a hearty flavor (Carangi bakery) and was crusty without being too hard. The ingredients come together perfectly in this sandwich. If you are going to eat something good why not go to a place that specializes in just what you are craving for! I searched for best cheesesteak in Havertown and DELCO steaks came up. This place is takeout only so I called in my order. Order was ready in 25 min at lunch time. Parking is a little tricky with 4 spots in front of the takeout window right off of West Chester Pike. Order was ready in time. Ordered the 8 in cheese steak and crinkle cut fries. Cheese is extra but most of the other toppings are included- lettuce, tomato, cherry peppers, Mayo and wit ( means add sautéed onions) - mushrooms and long peppers are extra cost. The cheese steak was stuffed with nice chunks of sliced beef - not too chopped which I like. And the firm sesame seed roll was the highlight- baked fresh at the store! Not greasy and the meat was seasoned. Fries had seasoned salt which was a great surprise and they were skinny cut ( like Chickie's and Pete's) - so good! Fries were not cooked. The steak was not prepared with ketchup on it as asked. We ordered a milkshake with order through Uber eats. Driver said no milkshake was left with order. When called store women said we didn't have ready when he picked up order. I asked if they would deliver since it was their error. She said no you can pick up. I said this was poor customer service. Adventures in takeout in the Time of Corona. Lion offered to pick up lunch for us one day. Hey, let's try this new place - Delco Steaks. Getting good reviews on Yelp! Lion calls in the order - 25 mins to pick up. Perfect. He heads out there ...can't find it. Goes around the block a couple of times before he finds it because there's no street signage. For locals, they're where Jean's Luncheonette used to be. He gets there 30 minutes after he called ... not ready. Checks in 5 min later- nope. Again. Finally, 50 minutes after he called the order in, it's ready. Upon unpacking, we see it's got a good amount of meat and smells very good. The cheese is nicely folded in to the meat which gives it a chewy, gooey texture. Mmmmm. What I'm tasting, though, is that it's very peppery, as opposed to savory. Almost too peppery, and not ground black pepper. Spicy. Then I notice something red peeping out where I had taken a bite. Oh! It's a red pepper! Hmm that shouldn't be there. Maybe it's a stray. Nope. Lion takes a bite - another pepper, this one green, then another that's a stem. So we check the online menu - did we miss something? They list "toppings" - fried onions, hot cherry peppers, mushrooms, buffalo sauce. We asked for no onions. Ok. There's no mushrooms or buffalo sauce on this, so it's not the "default" steak. So I check the receipt. No mention of peppers, or anything but provolone cheese. I can only conclude that this is either a mistake or it's part of their standard recipe and they don't disclose it. Either way, it made this otherwise chewy, juicy, meaty experience,well, too peppery. It's a shame. I'm also glad I wasn't splitting with my dear friend Sherryl, as she is very allergic to peppers. I would like to preface this review with: i am not someone who typically leaves reviews. When I do, it's usually to complain about some faulty product. However, the sandwhich I had today has compelled me to do so. Also, I spent somewhere near 10 years working at various pizza shops from my teens to mid 20s, so I am somewhat of a connoisseur of cheesesteaks. As soon as the man working the register handed me the bag with my sandwich, my immediate thought was this thing is heavy. Once I got back into my car, opened it up, my next thought was maybe eating while driving was not the best plan. This cheesesteak was fully loaded with every thing overflowing from the bun. I went for it anyway, knowing I was going to be having to clean the car later, and after one bite, completely forgot about the hassle that cleaning later was going to be. One bite of this cheesesteak, it was if Odin, Zeus, Jesus, Alah, and Buddah all joined forces for the purpose of coming together and making my atheist ass believe that maybe, just maybe, there is some sort of paradise after life, because that's what it seemed I was currently living in. The best sandwich I have ever had, hands down. Unfortunately, I was in town working and live about an hour away, but taking that drive at some point for one of these cheesesteaks is not completely out of the question. kudos to you DELCO steaks, spreading the gospel one sandwich at a time read more

This was certainly worth a trip! This steak is definitely in the top 5 around Philly. I ordered a 8 inch with wiz.. my sandwich had a very good amount of meat but the wiz was lacking flavor. The other person I was with ordered the the 12 inch regular steak with cooper sharp... HIGHLY RECOMMEND. THIS WAS by far my favorite of the two. No complaints on the service end. If you don't think the service is good enough, I recommend getting out of DELCO all together. Wish there was small tables to eat in instead of take out only. That would be my only wish. Not so "hot" on the details I was here a bunch of times a few years back, loving those cheesesteaks. Last time I ordered a steak with chopped up cherry peppers, an option on their toppings list. They did chop up the cherry pepper, and left a big old stem in my sandwich. Not a nice surprise to try chewing on that. Hopefully it was an oversight and not on purpose. Tried again today, got the roast pork sandwich. The pork was tender and flavorful, but not hot at all. I had to put it in the microwave. The broccoli rabe was barely cooked and flavorless. And they left one of those supermarket bay leaves in my sandwich - I found it before I bit down on it this time. So that's two straight visits with something vaguely inedible in my sandwich. Absolutely impressed by the steaks here! You should note I am a Dalesandro's guy, not a John's Roast Pork guy...I don't care for the larger slices of meat, the seeded roll, or the gristle that often comes with larger slices of meat. I like my steak finely chopped\shredded on a seedless roll. So why do I like the steaks here if that is how they come??? Because you can request CHOPPED steak and a SEEDLESS roll! I just finished one and it was amazing! Weighed a TON, well worth 11$. Such a difference when you shred the meat, and change the roll! Also had no issues at checkout! I finally did have their burger and it is so good! I had the 6 oz and it was very tasty, even after driving it home 15 minutes! I want to try the 4 oz burger next, and see how it compares to Charlies Burgers from Folsom. I am also interested in trying the breakfast sandwiches. Interesting, I just ready DELCO steaks is taking over the old Charlies Location. Should be a nice fit for them. Note: loving the burgers and now the steaks here, the only thing holding them back from 5 stars is the shakes! We were a bit disappointed in the offering here. We ordered 2 steaks, 2 chicken steaks, cheese fries and regular fries. The regular fries were fine The cheese fries had a funny taste to the cheese We had both seeded and unseeded rolls. Neither made a difference. The meat and cheese was fine. I think they could have used more cheese but I usually order extra cheese. When the window opened and I was asked if I wanted to order I showed my receipt and let the counter person know I was just checking to see if the order was ready, The next words I heard were from a young man in the kitchen (not the grill person) asking what the f*#ck does she want and then grumbling additinal rude remarks.
