DO NOT TRUST They promised me they would help me understand the new equipment and said they would not go on my property without me present. They went onto my property, turned on the equipment and BURNED out the machine because the filter/skimmer did not have enough water in the pool and as a new pool owner I was hoping they would help me understand what I needed to do RIGHT away. They did not do the right thing. The older woman on the phone when I called getting quotes seemed kind and believable. She said they are good guys and that I can trust them. Well, they are NOT. I will not recommend this business to anyone and I am in sales. So expect everyone to know not to use you. Thank you. read more

I went to get a couple things today and was not happy that social distancing protocols are not being followed. Employees didn't wear masks and stood together behind the counter. They didn't enforce customers wearing masks and I had to walk past 3 people through the only exit not wearing masks. I was also kind of annoyed when I asked for two pretty easy things and the employee acted confused about where a pool thermometer would be located (she was standing right next to them). If you're opening up and not wearing masks, you obviously don't care about the health of your customers and probably aren't attuned to the quality of your work. I posted this on Instagram and they deleted my comment (rather than apologize). I'd advise people to go to Islander Pools in Colonie... I used to go there years ago and will head there next time. read more

Zero communication skills. Waited hours for them to show up the first day, called and asked if they could give me an ETA and was told "we have 14 other customers to get to today, not sure when they will be there, we can have them call you before hand". I should have realized they overbooked their techs, and the techs would not take the time needed to do a good job. No phone call before they showed up. After they realized we needed a new filter (which was stated during the first phone call to them) they called and said they could get back there that night to do it. Well, at six am the next morning they showed up without warning. My fiance made sure to tell them that after they were finished that the pool was to be ready to go. They agreed. During this time, they seem to have installed the filter. They also seem to have taken the pool cover off and thrown it on the ground. They also seem to have entered my garage WITHOUT PERMISSION to place a DIRTY ladder in the pool. I ASSUME greentreat was used, but given the fact that the rest I ran on the pool showed no chemicals at all, I have no proof what so ever. They then placed the manual for the new filter in the grass. I'm not sure what else was done, or what time they left. I was inside taking care of my child. They left without ANY communication. There was no phone call, which they were asked to place, there was no knock on the door, they just left. I still have not recieved my receipt. When my fiance called to complain, she was not offered an apology for any of this, but instead was told we need to add additional chemicals to the pool to make it swimable. Now considering the fact this was never told to us upfront, or after the tech was finished, this was news to us. She was also told we should have asked for a demo for what to do. We told them numerous times we are first time pool owners, not sure how we were supposed to know to ask for a demo. I called last night, very unhappy, multiple times. All in all I was told we would have to do all the work from here, after paying them to do it. After zero resolution, and zero budge from the manager Erika, I hung up. I was left a message, being told what chemicals I WILL NEED TO BUY AND PUT IN MYSELF. A little while later I left them a message detailing every problem I'm having with them, I have yet to receive a phone call back. I hope a resolution can be found, but currently it seems this company takes advantage of their customers. With the fact that I paid over $750 for their services, I expected a complete job, and not a half-assed excuse for work completed. Edit : To respond, you have not addressed anyof the issues, such as the lack of communication, THE FACT WE WERE TOLD THE POOL WOULD BE READY TO GO AFTER SERVICE. Your TECHS WERE TOLD TO CALL. Now, as for him knocking, was it on the neighbors door? I was in the living room. I would have heard knocking. There is also a door bell that could have been rung. Or a telephone to have been called AS REQUESTED. BEFORE SERVICE we were told the pool wouls be ready to go. That is what we paid for. After service you have changed the deal apparently. Disgusting. Second Exit: after calling them looking one last time for a resolution, I was told I'm in tbe wrong, and I got what I paid for. I thought at over $700 and the promise my pool would be ready was what I paid for. The police are now being called for breaking and entering. The tech was never told that the ladder was in the garage, and decided to enter it without permission. At this point they have blocked me on facebook, have told me not to call them, still have not fixed the situation. This is disgusting. DO NOT USE DEL GALLO POOLS! read more

I am a new pool owner, after buying a house with a pool for the first time this year. I knew nothing and contacted them to help me open the pool, as they had excellent reviews. When I first called, they told me that I would hear back with an appointment time the following week on Thursday or Friday. These times came and went, so I called on Saturday. I was told that they had been very busy, but would get a call back that day. That did not happen. So I called again. I was then told (again) that they were very busy. I gave them my credit card number at this point. I was not able to get a specific appointment time, or even a window of time- but was promised that the technicians would call me before arriving to my house. I had intended to ask my mother to be there, as I had to work. Imagine my surprise when I went home during my lunch break that day to find my pool "open". And I do mean that quite literally. They had removed the cover and left chemicals next to the pool. I was thoroughly confused by this, as I hadn't received a call- so I thought maybe they had to leave and come back? So I called and was basically laughed at. I was told that the technicians would never call to inform me that they were coming, and that apparently the technician who came to my house couldn't turn on the filter (Which I was able to turn on, no problem) so that is why they left without adding the chemicals. They did leave me a note to add the chemicals myself, written on a torn off piece of paper and thrown in my mailbox. It also told me to add "DE", which I knew nothing about. I felt disrespected and talked down to. And I was charged much more than would be expected for the "service" that they provided. So I was trusting professionals would handle their business properly and this company did not. They did charge quite a bit for the service. And I will not be using them again for pool opening, closing or any other services. I wouldn't recommend you use them, either. read more

I am not exactly sure what to expect from them as a pool contractor, but they gave me a very hard time when I go there to fill my propane tanks. They were certified and inspected, yet they wouldn't fill them. I was able to get a new tank and very cheap refill at BJ's Wholesale club in colonie. read more

Overall the new pool project went very well. I received quotes and met with several pool companies before selecting DelGallo. They have the experience to build the pools properly and use quality materials from reputable suppliers. Pools are decent sized investment so it was worthwhile to spend the time performing due diligence in selecting a pool company. I have had a pools in different houses for decades now and know first hand that improperly built pools can be a money pit if not properly built. The owners recognize this and do not take shortcuts that others are willing to do to come in a few thousand cheaper on the bid. Regarding the project management, they were able to maintain the timeline and complete the project on time despite a few last modifications requested on my part. Mike was very clear about explaining any change in scope due to my requests and associated costs. Out of the project bids, DelGallo provided the most detail regarding what was included in the project. Make sure your bids include the cost (or estimate) for backfill. Many don't include this and yet they know that in many cases it will be needed to install it properly - proper drainage is critical and problems may not surface for years after install. I am a property investor and deal with many contractors and companies to maintain and improve the properties I purchase. Finding a good company to work with is not easy and seems to be getting more challenging. DelGallo is one of the best companies I have worked with out of the hundreds I have dealt with over the years. read more

Everything went well, the only issues we had were due to weather which can't be controlled. Mike hooked us up with people to help with everything- electricians that were able to help with some lighting issues on the deck as well, the fence, someone to seed the yard after.....it was all great and the pool is great. Worst Experience with any company ever. The handle to the multiple port valve had been broken during closing, which they denied. It was old; I just wanted honesty. When I reluctantly had them open again for me the next year, I had explicitly asked that the handle be fixed during opening, and that the DE be repleted for my filter that was just cleaned. The pool was opened, the handle remained broken, and the DE had not been repleted (took about 3 hours for me to get an answer about that).The pool was running with no DE in the filter for half a day, immediately after opening when it is dirtiest. They came back the next week, I spoke with a representative over the phone prior to their visit who confirmed that I would not be charged again for the service, just for the hardware. After the repair was nearly complete, I was told that they don't service Pentair products. One of the service men stated he would have rather just changed to a new sand filter, than working with 'off brand'. This was told to me after the fact. They only really work with Hayward products. No one seemed to be able to come up with my bill total. Finally they handed me something that was double what I was told over the phone, which included a service fee. Next I'm talking with the owner over the employee's phone, arguing about what was said. Finally he caved into waiving the service fee, but he will no longer do business with me... I still payed nearly 40% more than I was initially quoted. Management needs to be upfront with its employees about how the business should operate; as well as be upfront with its customers when issues arise. read more

If you are contemplating building an inground pool with DelGallo Country Pools, do yourself a favor--FIND ANOTHER POOL CONTRACTOR! From start to finish, our experience was extremely unprofessional and workmanship quality was poor. On day one, a 14 year old boy was brought to work on our job and sustained a huge gash on his leg when he fell on a metal wall support. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment including many stitches. We were also very dissatisfied with the lack of communication. Decisions were made without even consulting us not to mention several unreturned phone calls. Finally, the workmanship was shoddy at best. We had DelGallo pour our stamped concrete--BIG MISTAKE! Use your own concrete contractor unless you want crooked expansion joints and a broom dropped on your freshly poured cantilever edge! After discussing our dissatisfaction with their work, we were threatened with lawsuits if we didn't pay them the small balance. Nice way to gain future business, DelGallo! read more

Delgallo pools is a family run business and has been installing pools for 40 years. I highly recommend them! We made a late season decision to put the pool in (early July) and were swimming by July 30th! They are timely, professional, friendly and easy to work with. I can't imagine using another pool installer or vendor. The decision to add a pool to your property is a very important decision. After all you are modifying the most important investment that you have; your home. The workmanship on the installation is excellent. All the subcontractors that Delgallo works with are also tops. That includes: concrete, landscaping, fence and electric. They were all very nice and easy to work with. Here is the key to their 5 star rating: they are a family business. When issues arise, you are not dealing with some corporate bean counter. You are dealing with Mike and Erika. They know you and you know them. I live not far from this business. Last summer they saved my pool filter while I was away on vacation when my current pool guy left me high and dry. For that I thank them. But....I hired them to open my pool this year. I assumed (maybe I was wrong), that they would also balance the chemicals. Not part of the service. They also neglected to tell me the heater wouldn't come on and I found this problem out the next day after I went to check the water temperature. Because I was having trouble balancing the chemicals, I took a sample to them to test where the $4.95 fee is waived IF you purchase the recommended chemicals. I purchased the suggested $100.00 dollars worth of chemicals and used them as directed. When I returned 2 days later to have another sample rerun, it was suggested I buy another product for algae. My pool is crystal clear! See where this is going? I declined purchase of additional product, they charged me the $4.95 and wouldn't waive it and they couldn't even give me a read out of my test (are they too cheap to hook up to a printer!). I took another sample to Islander Pool and Spa, which was analyzed for FREE, with a printout, and was told to add some additional chlorine and no more stabilizer. It's worth the ride to Islander Pool and Spa in Colonie. read more

Awesome experience from beginning to end. We contemplated a pool for a few years and finally decided to go ahead with the project. After meeting with several companies we decided to go with Del Gallo. Mike was professional and was very detailed on the process and exactly what was going to happen. The subs they used were great and everyone showed up when they said they were going to show up. the stamped concrete looks amazing and we have had tons of compliments on the overall appearance. Do not use Del Gallo! They do not stand behind the products they sell and install. My in ground pool is only a few years old and everything is going wrong. Del Gallo passes the buck and actually tells you to contact the manufacturer yourself....for the defective part/equipment/machinery/module/LED lighting, etc., whatever, they are not going to cover anything no matter what. They are not trustworthy and make it up as they go along. It's extremely frustrating especially after how expensive these complete installations run. I have in excess of $2,000 in repairs this summer alone and Del Gallo has offered zero warranty, not even a penny of assistance. My only warning to the reviewer Van S. is to give it a year or two more...BUYER BEWARE!!! read more

had a new liner put in our pool last spring. called them after 3 days and said pool still losing water. they sent man over to check lines, he said leak was from one return line so he capped that one off.the call cost us over $200. called them back because water level still dropping. we had to get a diver to check liner. he found two holes in a brand new liner. every time i talked to frank about it i would get a different answer. he said we must put a hole in ti cleaning the pool. funny thing was we had never cleaned or even been in the pool. bottom line is they , and do not stand behind their work, and frank is a serial liar. thanks, michael myers read more

This project did not go well. This company was unable to follow a professionally designed landscape plan. Specifically, the pool location was detailed in the plan, and despite having access to this plan, they installed our pool both out of line with our house, and out of line with a set of stairs meant to lead from a patio to the pool's stairs. Initially, Mike was friendly and pleasant, however, once this issue occurred, he became very unprofessional, and extremely unwilling to compromise at all in order to work with us to resolve the problem. Do not be deceived, you learn a company's the true nature when you see how they handle a problem. We were initially very upset about the pool being installed improperly as we had spent a lot of time and money on a landscaping plan to create a nice outdoor space. Instead of squaring the pool with the house, they chose to square it to our woods line. Not only did this result with an obviously crooked pool, but it also completely messed up our landscaping design. They had made an obvious critical error, and instead of owning up to it, they blamed the crookedness of the pool on our house not actually being square. We measured this, as did an independent contractor, and the house is definitely square. We tried very hard to work with them to come up with a way to mask the problem, since the only way to truly fix the problem would have been to move the pool (which we never contemplated doing). Ultimately, we realized that in order to mask the problem, we needed to need to use pavers around the pool (instead of concrete) whose lines would distract the viewer from the crooked nature of the pool. This was where this company's true colors came out. This change in our plan, to go with pavers around the pool, led to even more problems with Mike. While trying to come up with a solution for the pool, we had mentioned to him our decision to go with pavers around the pool, and it then came to light that they had performed extra work on the project, NOT contracted with them, under the assumption that they would be installing a large concrete deck around our pool. We had never committed to any such work, and were actively interviewing other contractors for the work, and had explicitly told Mike on a prior occasion that we did not like his concrete work that we had seen on his other job sites. The extra work included additional digging around the pool and filling with crushed stone that he performed in preparation for this deck work that we had NEVER agreed to, NOR EVER DISCUSSED HIM DOING. At this point, Mike became visibly upset with us, declaring that he had to get paid for the extra (non-contracted) material and work. This change in Mike's behavior occurred despite that fact that we had never suggested that we would not pay him for that work. However, the actual pool itself was not yet finished. The liner, lights and other accessories still needed to be installed. Also, all of the electrical work needed to be completed. We had decided at this point that we wanted to finish the pool, and a few days later inquired about the liner, and were told that once the additional crushed stone and labor was paid for in full, we would "talk about the liner." Basically, the company was not going to finish their contracted work until they were compensated for work that we never authorized, that amounted to an extra $7000. They were, in effect, attempting to extort us for the money. Once this happened we realized that there was no way to resolve this amicably, and we had lost trust in their ability to finish the project. We wanted to have another pool company finish the job, and asked for a refund for the work not yet completed, including the cost of the liner that had yet to be ordered, as well as labor involved in installing it and other accessories. They refused to compensate us in any way. They remained hostile, and petty, and were never able to admit any fault in the disaster that this project turned out to be. In addition to the extra money we had to spend to cover their mistake, we also ended up paying for the completion of the pool installation twice, as we had not been refunded for the work not performed by Del Gallo Country Pools. Not only did they cause us severe distress with their work and unwillingness to compromise anything in an effort to resolve the problem with the pool, they also systematically harmed our personal reputation with multiple other contractors and pool product distributors while we were trying to complete the project, all in an effort to protect their own reputation. We would strongly discourage anyone from working with this company in the future. read more
