First and foremost, if you are planning on having a sitdown dinner, go elsewhere. This is strictly a takeout joint and that works very well for me! I got some Indian takeout for dinner one night and it was great. Pick up time was not too long and they were ready with my order when I arrived. Walking through the parking lot, you will salivate at how good this place smells. Their menu is halal if you're looking for that. It is located on busy Route 27 and can be missed if not paying attention for the white sign with green letters. Parking is a little tight, it's a small spot with to go only. This has been the best for freshness, flavor and well priced (even post pandemic). Their hours are clear, as well as, the menu. Everything I've tried from Paneer (cheese), naan, samosas, tikka masala and so forth has been well seasoned. Food is made to your order. The customer service may not be the friendliest. I ordered takeout from GrubHub on a Monday about 15 mins after they opened for dinner. It said it would take about an hour, but it was ready for pickup in less than 30 minutes! The saag paneer was great. The rice portion is a little small compared to the portion of the saag paneer. I also ordered onion kulcha, which I have never tried before, and it is delicious and a little spicy! I rounded out my meal with Gulab jamun, a nice sweet treat. Our GO TO spot for Indian take out! The food is so fresh and tastes authentic. I haven't found any other restaurant that is up to par in the Edison area. My go to order is paneer tikka masala and garlic naan. You can tell that they don't use any added dyes in their food because this tikka masala looks lighter in color than your traditional tikka masala which is more of a orangey/red. Delhi Garden is always my go-to Indian place! Fair priced and you get a lot of food for one item. Currently doing takeout and delivery, but the place is small so they typically don't have indoor dining anyway. Either way, the food is always hot and fresh!! My personal favorites are Chicken Dum Biryani (comes with raita), Butter Chicken (comes with rice), and Chicken Tikka Masala (comes with rice). Also recommend getting their Garlic Naan with any curry item (trust me, it's worth the extra $3!!) You can also choose your spice level which not a lot of Indian places offer- "medium" was the perfect level for me and I like spicy food. And to balance out the spice a bit, I get the Mango Lassi drink! This is one of my favorite Indian beverages, so I make sure to try it everywhere I go... Delhi Garden's is some of the best mango lassi I've ever had- the perfect blend of ingredients!! I placed a large order (nearly 10 items) and they had it ready for pick up in about 35-40 min. So... this was voted 'Best Indian Food in NJ' ? I don't think so...! First, if you saw a Website, that featured a photo of a dining room, set up as a Buffet... one might think it's a 'dine in' Restaurant ... it's not... The storefront you see, has no access to 'indoors' You order outside! ( or call ahead) So , OK, I asked for their menu... and he placed the QR Code for me to access... Oddly, and I did find it questionable... the next person to approach, who was of the same cultural persuasion as the 'host', asked to see a menu, and was given an actual menu! We ordered, 20 minute wait... we were # 80... After a sit in our car, I went to fetch the already paid for food, and was told "coming up soon"... As I stood there, observing... I saw all the takeout bags lined up, and people were picking up orders... but I saw where this occurred, and suddenly he went to an area where the bags were, and picked one that had been sitting there... and it was ours... and it was ready when I came back.. but he made me wait! Wtf? As he handed it to me, I inquired "why when I asked for a menu, you gave me a QR Code... the person after me asked, and you gave gladly him an actual menu, why?" Well, he gave it his best "homina homina", and shrugged his shoulders... I said , "yeah, OK, I get it" I could have overlooked all of it, except when we got home, the food was crap. Mostly reheated older samosa, pakoras, and overall just awful ! I've been a fan of, and have eaten Indian food, for well over 30 years, and can actually prepare some dishes myself... Just moved into the area and was excited to delve into the South Asian cuisine here! Delhi Garden is take-out only, but boy do they know what they're doing. They have it down to a T; the whole ordering process and pick-up was smooth sailing. The menu isn't actually that long for an Indian restaurant, which was good news. We ordered the chicken 65 and one of the daal (lentil) soups--both were incredibly satisfying. Prices are reasonable, and the chicken dish lasted us two meals. Chicken 65 is ginger forward, with the right amount of long-lasting heat to accompany the rest of the flavorful spices. We ordered garlic naan (unbeatable) but they also packed two containers of white rice for us, and it went perfectly with the chicken. The daal dish we ordered was VERY spicy, and hot temperature wise, but sweating from eating something like this during the summertime feels paradoxically refreshing. Needless to say that it was seasoned well. Looking forward to the next time we choose Indian for dinner because we will be back to Delhi Garden in a heartbeat to try other dishes. read more

I got delivery for my boyfriend and I. I had tried numerous of Indian food from north and south Edison but I finally found the place for my boo's spice sensitive palate. If you are looking for mild this is the place but don't worry, they can easily turn the heat up if you request it ! I was still eating left overs until the next evening! First walk into the store, it's clean and bright with lots of photos of dishes on the wall. I was order 76. Most people call ahead which I suggest to do so. They have outdoor seating just in case if you want to eat it there. I appreciate their effort and attention to detail they put into this business, when the pickup was handed to me I was immediately impressed by the Takeput bag. It has their phone number and info on it. Paper bag is sturdy and nice quality. Even the cloth handle was thoughtful. Strong bonus point!! We have been looking for another great Indian restaurant for a while since some of our favorites closed. My daughters friend said that this place is really good so we gave it a try. She was 100% right. For years we had a number of places to go and each had their own strengths and weaknesses. Delhi Garden is all strengths! The Tandoori Chicken was perfect, we loved the Saag Paneer, Navrattan Korma, Raita, Dal Mahkini so much that we came back a few days later. This place is strictly take out, you can't even enter the place. But if you call in an order when you pick it up they come out front and hand it to you. It's hard for me to give a 5 star review, but this place deserves it without question, anything less would be nitpicking on my part. You know it's good a sign when, in an area FULL of South Asian eateries, this place was packed of customers, the parking lot was full, and a constant stream of takeout orders were being brought out from the kitchen. We ordered the chicken over rice ("NYC style) Halal, can't always find that dish), chicken tikka masala (a benchmark dish for me when trying an Indian place), mushroom pakora (something I don't commonly see either), and Mali mushroom tikka (it was whole, juicy mushrooms marinated in sour cream and coriander). Also got naan (plain and garlic). Everything was very tasty, and prices very reasonable. Tucked away in a nondescript part of route 27 sharing a building with a nail salon, this really is a hole in the wall place where the locals eat. Delhi Garden is worth a drive from anywhere. I live an hour and 15 minutes south and would try to incorporate this eatery into any trip up this way. Only cons are takeout only (they do have a couple of tables outside and a comfy couch inside) and the hours aren't super late. The man up front was friendly, he even offered to call me when the food was done so we could run errands while we waited on the food. Also provided plenty of plates and cutlery. The value for the money is unbeatable. Skip all the places further up in north Edison/Iselin and come down here. I wish they had a full service restaurant, but then the focus would be on more than just the food. I say leave this place alone, keep doing what you're doing. When my family and I don't want to cook, this has been our go to place for Indian takeout for the past two years. Finally decided to leave a review after getting yet another delicious Chicken Platter, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Naan after not wanting to cook on this 98 degree summer afternoon (it's seriously hot and no one wants to use the stove today) Every time, the flavors are spot on and the servings are enormous. The Chicken Platter in particular always has a giant serving of tender, well seasoned Chicken with soft rice, that is well worth the price. They also don't hold back with the red and white sauce, and even include extra in the bag without even having to ask. Do note that the red sauce can be extremely spicy so you may not even need to add more depending on your spice tolerance The wait time can vary, usually only 30-45 minutes, although there have been super busy days where the wait can be up to an 1 and a half hours. However they always tell you the approximate wait time in advance and have always had the food ready in that time frame , so it's not that much of an issue.
