Only thing gourmet is the ambiance is the atmosphere. Kids making sandwiches never works out well if not trained properly. My Roast Beef & Horseradish Sandwich came out with such little meat, I asked the young female waitress to add to it. She thought I was crazy and then the sandwich maker seemed challenged on how he should add meat. It got worse when I sat back down with my daughter and her Caesar Salad with Chicken had a bug in the romaine leaf. Now I can't say anything to the kid staff because they won't know how to handle the situation. Thank goodness my 12 year old is a trooper and continued on! read more

Best bagels in the area. All the employees also seem to enjoy working there and are always smiling when you go in, which is something I appreciate. Their reduced-fat veggie cream cheese is the best with diced scallions and shredded carrots. Love it on the whole wheat sour dough. I liked this place! Why: food tasty and fresh, prices reasonable, and food served quickly. I had breakfast there recently on a Saturday and the place was bopping. There's a big selection other than just something on a bagel. You place your order and then the food is brought over to your table. I will be back! read more

I ordered a Cajun chicken sandwich and I got some chicken with two black pieces of bread. Instead of Cajun spice they just poured hot sauce on it. They also said it would come with lettuce and tomato but it did not come with anything but chicken bread and cheese. The piece of cheese looked like someone just slapped it on. This deli is great! They have a huge menu choice. Lots of regular deli options and many creative sandwich choices. (My favorite is the veggie sandwich on multi grain bread). I ordered a taylor ham, egg and cheese, on an everything bagel. I paid for it and went home, and when i started eating it i noticed they put ACTUAL DELI HAM on my bagel. Cmon man. Reasonably comprehensive breakfast and lunch place with various bagels, spreads, coffees, sandwiches, etc. It's sort of "upscale" and nice. I generally like their bagels but sometimes hesitate to go because doing so means entering Planet Teenage Employees and everything that come with that (choosing not to say thank you to the customer, weird looks, texting, saying "like" constantly, etc.). Sometimes one just isn't the mood for that so, if you're not, be warned. Another note about their unusual interpretation of my favorite bagel spread: jalapeno cream cheese. Despite it being on their menu, they do not make or sell it. What you will get if you order it is normal cream cheese with jalapeno slices on it. I would call this a bagel with jalapenos on it.. When I asked about that this morning I got stared at by all three teens working there with palpable disgust, as if I had done something unspeakable, like ban them from Twitter or something. However, the adult manager (although also clearly perturbed that I accidentally exposed a problem with their menu) gamely offered to slice them up and make real jalapeno cream cheese, which I declined. All that said I do enjoy the bagels and will go again. read more

Have kept coming back for the good bagels. . .however that is at an end- I don't know if it because of a lousy computer order system, or the young workers simply never listen- but they have screwed up my orders for the last 4 times- and today, in addition to having to unwrap a bagel sandwich to add requested ingredients, they simply did not make an egg order. I love Deli's bagels, but their service is really frustrating. All of the counter staff are teenagers, and last time I went in I was stared down silently until I made an order--even after I said hi, this chick didn't say a word. At first I blew it off because it was early on a Saturday morning, but when I got to the beach, my order was wrong! Deli sandwiches come with tomates and lettuce (as it says on the menu), but all our sandwiches had was a mountain of roast beef and mayo. I wouldn't have minded nearly as much if the service wasn't so weird when I went in. This attitude seems to be getting worse and worse every time I go--once I went in after they were closed (by accident) and was told to get out before I had a chance to get both feet in the door. C'mon, guys, there are way worse jobs out there than making sandwiches. I'm not looking for a side of snark with my bagel. read more

Deli on a bagel has good food. However they have one of the worst restaurant etiquettes I have ever seen. They say they close at 3pm however they turn their Grill off at 1:30-2pm. Now if you're trying to make money why in hell would you turn your grill off an hour to an hour and a half before you close. I couldn't give this a worse rating even if I tried. You people and your manager really need to rethink how to run a business. read more

We just picked up lunch here on a whim and holy wow, I hate the scuzzy sandwich shops near my house even more now. DOaBC is comparatively clean, nicely decorated, and free of funky odors, and the sandwiches are better than at least three places I'm thinking of in Ewing. The inside is dominated by a large serve-yourself drinks console (coffee bar, fountain soda, etc.), with a ring of tables around the wall. There are also a few little tables for two outside on the sidewalk, which is next to the parking lot, but its not bad as those kinds of situations go around here. Counter staff was friendlier than other sandwich places. Each of our sandwiches came with a small whole dill pickle, which is the first time I've seen that among five other places around here. We will definitely be going back to try other parts of the menu. read more

This place has the worst service I have seen in my entire life. The only reason my friend group and I continously go to this embarrassing place is to see how many times they can mess up one of our orders. 7 straight times they have either messed up an order or forgot to bring out someones food. Oh and by the way, they give you your food with their bare hands. However, I will continue to eat at this place until they provide one quality meal to us because I need to see how long the streak of poor service continues. I'm in a lucky position where I'm out on the road all day, so when the hankering for lunch comes along, I always find myself driving to the same place, Deli on a Bagel Cafe in Pennington, NJ. I always go in thinking I want their Sanoma salad which is a huge portion for a great price, but second guess myself because the menu is so extensive! It's funny to walk in and see each person in line stare up at the menu board memorized by the different options, all of which are prepared quickly. The atmosphere is a great mix of people from high school kids on their lunch to the working crowd like myself who enjoy a quick bite to eat without the fast food feeling. The system of ordering, getting a number, sitting at a table, and then having the food delivered to you is wonderful but I also enjoy the do-it yourself fixin's bar for the independent eater. From bagels, salads, smoothies, breakfast, and gourmet lunches it's a plethora of food at a great price in a great area of town. I would highly recommend stopping in a grabbing a bite, but it could take a while for you to actually figure out what you are going to eat because there are so many delicious options!! read more
