What a disgraceful experience at this sandwich shop. I personally witnessed behavior that was rude, indifferent, and unmistakably discriminatory. My husband waited 35 minutes for an order of two sandwiches--while other customers arrived after him, placed their orders, and walked out with food in hand. He was ignored the entire time, left standing as if invisible.When he finally asked about the delay, the dismissive response was that "the kitchen was busy," delivered as though he hadn't been watching everyone else being served around him. Insulting, unacceptable, and deeply upsetting. DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

Went here for lunch and ordered a Reuben. Unfortunately there isn't much to say. It took about 20 minutes and was wildly overpriced for what you got. The flavor was decent but ultimately nothing remarkable. When a simple sandwich takes a ton of time and you feel you were jipped at the end, it unfortunately means I won't be returning. read more

Solid breakfast sandwich in a clean and modern sandwich shop space that also sells a big variety of drinks, chips, cookies, candy etc. We tried the Madison and the fillings and bagel were tasty with a good ratio. Honestly after Lawrence lost the bagel shop that used to be here, I was really concerned for what would take its place. I've gone here three times and every time the food and service has been stellar. I am super grateful for the indoor seating and to see the new tack board with local postings. Great local deli. We called ahead and our order was waiting for us when we arrived. They have seating inside but it was packed with the lunch crowd. The menu has something for everyone. A solid although pricey breakfast and lunch spot that specializes in sandwiches. A friend had already been and had good things to say about it so I tried a few days later. I called in a takeout around 1 and it was ready 15 minutes later as promised. I went with a simple chicken salad, but wanted more so I also ordered onion rings and zucchini fries. The fries were pretty bad. Obviously overcooked, and a small portion as well. Hard pass. The onion rings were very good. Thinner rings done perfectly with a seemingly buttermilk batter. I'd reorder anytime. The chicken salad on Kaiser roll was well made. A lightly toasted roll which held up to the creamy and tasty salad, slices of bacon lettuce and tomato completed this simple classic. I'd reorder this as well, but other sandwiches sounded tempting too. Customer service was friendly and professional. When I asked where the plump bagels hailed from I was informed that this is a sister store of Deli on a Bagel. A clean and open industrial decor seemed well thought out for lunch rushes. Although the zuke fries were a big letdown, I think this place has potential and I'll likely stop back again. read more

We were there today Sunday Nov 2. The sandwich I ordered was scrambled egg, avocado on a roll. What was delivered included the batter of a chicken sandwich. When I brought this to the attention, the answer was that it is cooked on the same grill. Guess that would be OK for their client base. Definitely not a place for vegetarians. An awesome sandwich shop! Plenty of options for everyone even for GF folks. They have a menu with sandwiches plus drinks in the back and snacks along the wall. They have a ton of seating in the back, the front, and outdoors. I enjoyed my breakfast sandwich as they did not skimp on the layers of pork roll. "We do nothing more than the best sandwich you'll ever have." That's a bold statement. It speaks of the future, but not the past, which makes it unprovable at the time you read it, and difficult to measure thereafter, relying on memory to test its thesis. I do know that as much as I liked my Madison (sausage, scrambled, sautéed onion, cheddar and garlic aioli on baguette), it wasn't the best sandwich I have ever had, which suggests it won't meet that apex standard going forward. It remains to be seen. Lawrenceville Sandwich Company sits in the space once occupied by Maidenhead Bagels, and it is worthy of respect. It does not demean its predecessor's excellence, and is a serious replacement. My sandwich was well prepared, paper wrapped, and boxed in biodegradable packaging, and finger burning hot on approach. It was delicious, with each element contributing its share to the whole. Liked it a lot. The shop is popular and the wait for takeout about 20 minutes. With Lawrenceville School across the street, it has a captive audience, but there were plenty of post grads there as well. The place is run by high school kids and a few manager types, as efficiently as possible. I didn't let the time taken to hand over my breakfast as an issue. Sometimes, good things are worth the wait. This was one of those times, even if their mission statement is beyond knowing. read more

Fantastic! That is the best way to describe our lunch for three. The menu offerings are unique and exciting. I don't find the prices to be high for what you get: delicious and freshly prepared sandwiches. I got the Park Avenue, which is a unique combination of egg, avocado, cheese and hash browns on an egg bagel. My wife and daughter got the mozzarella and tomato, and tuna salad sandwiches respectively, both of which were enough to save for the next day's lunch. Stop in and you won't be disappointed. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had in the area. Reasonably priced and the sandwiches were loaded with deliciousness. I almost wished they gave me a whole bagel instead of half of the bagel considering how much avocado they packed on top. The egg white turkey bacon sandwich is solid and flavorful. Wow! I don't even know what to say!! I have seen this place for a while now but never went in.. today I decided to give it a shot and wow that was the best sandwich I've had in such a long time! I got the Reuben and that was definitely the best Reuben I've ever had.. this place has so many different types of sandwiches and I will definitely try them all. I really hope they stay open and not close like every other place that goes in that spot.. this is by far the best sandwich spot around here. And will absolutely go back!! read more

This place was great! I got a scallion bagel toasted with cream cheese and bacon and the zucchini fries. It was all very yummy, but what really made the experience was how friendly the staff was. They were very busy when I walked in, but I was greeted with a smile and efficient service by all the staff. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the seating was slightly limited. The portion size/cost was very fair, this was 2 meals for me. My only critique would be on the Cooper American cheese used. I would prefer a sharper cheese, Cooper sharp or even provolone. I'll inquire if there are other options. Even if there weren't, I'd still get this anytime. I saw several other lunch items of interest to me, and in the right frame of mind and early enough several breakfast options too. Service was friendly and fast. I'll likely be back next for the shrimp tacos, or just another steak. I'm at a 4.5 with just the one visit, stay tuned....

I receive coupons in the email, and just happened to have a five dollar off coupon that expired in a few days, that arrived in my email shortly before my travel occurred, which is why I chose to visit this location. I came on a busy Saturday at about 11:45 and because I was by myself I was able to get the last seat at the counter, otherwise the wait was 35 minutes or more for groups of two or more people. I ordered the kale juice which was kale, apple, lemon & was yummy. I ordered the summer special lobster avocado toast with 2 eggs over easy. The servers & all staff were very busy but pleasant. My meal was good, no complaints & they did have 2 nice chunks of real lobster meat on the thick whole grain toast. The only problem came when I went to use my coupon, they asked for my phone number which I gave them. And then they told me I was not in the system. Then they asked me if I could login on the app in which I told them I didn't know if I had the app because I don't have this restaurant locally and I only eat here maybe once a year but clearly the coupon had come to me in my email, and was due to expire on July 31 and this was July 25. Even though it was only five dollars it was the principle of I would've eaten somewhere else if I could not use this coupon. So although they were busy, I could tell that they were kind of annoyed that they had to go in the back and asked the manager and then there was some big production of having to enter my email and phone number into the app. This all seemed rather ridiculous considering most places if you have a coupon and it doesn't work and it's legitimate they can just take five dollars off your bill at the register not sure why that was not possible? Anyway, in the meantime of them going to the back, I managed to find the app get into it. Enter my phone number and email reset a password and then it showed that my coupon was in the app. Long story short I did get the five dollars off of the meal and then handed a five dollar bill to my server as her tip. This restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch and I believe it closes at 3 PM. It does get very busy weekend mornings. It's similar to a First Watch cafe if you are familiar with those.

I hate to do this to a local spot, but this needs to be shared. I came to Lawrenceville Sandwich Shop shortly after their initial opening and waited a long time before finally writing this. On our first visit, we ordered two sandwiches. The shop was somewhat crowded, but we didn't expect a long wait. I grew up in New York, and a deli-style sandwich usually takes no more than 15 minutes. We were told it would be a 30-minute wait, which was fine, so we stepped out to grab coffee. When we came back and asked if our order was ready, we were told "30 minutes" again. I clarified, asking if that meant 30 more minutes, and they said yes without any explanation. While waiting, I looked around the shop and noticed visible mold on the cream cheese logs. I pointed it out to the cashier, and they removed it, but the fact that it was there at all was concerning. We finally received our food after waiting a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes. They ended up giving gift cards to everyone as an apology for the wait, which would have been fine if the food had been good. Unfortunately, it wasn't. My sandwich was completely flavorless, while my wife's was drenched in sauce. Both were inedible. About two years later, we decided to give it another try, assuming the first visit may have just been an off day during their early days. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. This time, we waited 45 minutes despite the store being nearly empty, and the food was even worse. The bread was stale, the cheese wasn't what was listed on the menu, and overall it was just not good. Bad. The H.7 chopped cheese was truly awful. The bread was stale and the cheese-to-literally anything else ratio was way off. No lie, it was literally like 90% cheese. I've had chopped cheeses at bodegas and made by friends who can barely even cook that turned out better than this slop. Go elsewhere, not worth your patronage. read more
