Hey friends! I was working at the convention center and this place came highly recommended by a few employees. It's just about a 5 minute walk from the convention center. I went around 1:00pm and joined the lunch rush. It's sounds crazy but, I get excited when I see a long line, that means the restaurant has regulars because the food is good LOL. I ordered the cheesesteak with no jalapeños. The order is made fresh right in front of you. Only took about five minutes. My sandwich was delicious. Meat was flavorful and cooked well. Bun was toasted. -Customer service was great. -Paid street parking on intersecting streets. -Prices are average. My sandwich was $13, not including side or drink. -Restaurant was clean and well stocked. I definitely will make this my lunch spot when working at the convention center. Hope you enjoy! read more

What a GREAT sandwich!! The turkey pesto is to die for for ! Soft ciabatta bread, unprocessed turkey, flavorful pesto, and more. I am Canadian and went to Delizique Massachusetts Av. Washington DC. I made a first payment with card and the barista told me the payment didn't go through, I, then used another card. the day after I came back to be reimbursed but they refused to do it pretending that the payment was still pending and it will be removed at the end of the day. When returned to Canada I discovered my 2 cards were debited. I do not know if it has been done on purpose but I will definitely never came back to this restaurant. read more

OMG! There is NO place comparable to this sandwich shop. NONE!!!!!! I'll wait!!!!! NONE! The meats are ALL prepared on the property and by this I mean, the chicken is over roasted and carved to perfection! My turkey breast was seasoned with love and roasted so good that I almost fell off the chair. As you can see, I'm without a picture so engage with me and let your imagination run wild!!!!! I ordered the turkey sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and mayo-all on whole wheat bread. Now remember earlier I said that this place prepares all of their meats fresh, so the freshly carved turkey slices were falling apart with every bite. I was stuffed with one half of the sandwich and had to finish the other half later on that day! I give this fresh sandwich a 10! Nothing processed! Everything was SO good! The service was worth me returning as everyone was very friendly and attentive. The place had good cleanliness protocol so I didn't feel nervous about how my sandwich was being prepared at all. Pretty standard deli here. Decent sandwiches for around $10, breakfast sandwiches for $5, and no credit card minimum (as far as I'm aware) which puts this ahead of atrium cafe closer to work. I've had the cheesesteak which was pretty decent but could've been a bit more flavorful and had more steak. Also had a sausage egg and cheese which was decent but nothing out of the ordinary there. Stopped here for lunch while in DC and was really impressed with the quality of food. It's always difficult being on vacation- you never want to repeat places, well, at least I don't. I like the idea of trying new things, but I wouldn't be mad trying this place again. Walk in and you're bumping into the ordering area. Deli Zique features a variety of salads, wraps, and sandwiches (both lunch and breakfast). I felt like the ordering convention was a little mixed up. People kept leaving and coming back into line. They handed me food that wasn't mine- before I even ordered. Free snack? Nope. I gave the food to it's rightful owner and then ordered my own. I tried their chicken salad on a roll. You can pick from a variety of different bread options. The bread was fresh and the chicken salad was really good. You can tell it hadn't sat long. Nothing is worse than questionable mayonnaise products. I paid, grabbed my fountain soda in the island where all that stuff was located (drink, napkins and so forth). The dining area was small and tidy, not overly clean, but definitely not a mess. The manager was there and was really friendly. One of those guys who you can tell loves his job which is nice. This place is located pretty close to where I work so in the event I forget to bring lunch and it's too cold/hot outside to walk for long, then I'll come in here to get a gyro. I tried their beef brisket sandwich before and it was too dry for my liking, but after having tried their gyro, I liked coming here much more. The gyro is solid with plenty of sliced meat that's salty and tender, and they give plenty of lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and most importantly tzatziki sauce so it tastes fine. I do feel the food is a little overpriced but it is what it is. I would probably get the gyro from the food truck but the location for this spot makes it more convenient for me to get it from here. Lesson: They charge for each substitution/modifications Good: Consistently fresh food, I mainly get salads because I'm a vegetarian. The team that works there is friendly enough to customers. (Occasional eye rolls happen in every company. It's usually quick; in and out service under 10 minutes. Close to my office. Bad: I can't get with their salad pricing. Chef's salad $7.99 comes with fresh hand-carved turkey meat, (but I'm a vegetarian). When the person making my salad learned this he added bleu cheese crumbles as a substitution. The cashier promptly charged me $1.20 for the bleu cheese crumbles. Several months ago I stopped going all-together because I got the EXACT SAME cashier salad 3 days in a row and was charged 3 separate prices. I keep holding out hope it will change, so, I can keep my change. :) read more

So... I've tried this place a couple of times as it is very close to where I work. All attempts were a fail! First off, while their coffee prices are not bad, I literally get an upset stomach every time I order coffee. EVERY.single. Time. without fail. I ordered a croissant egg and cheese sandwich and then asked for an empty cup, and they really tried to charge me $1.00 for an empty cup! Their egg and cheese croissants were expensive and very poor quality. The smell of the restaurant is disguising and makes me want to barf even as I walk past the place. Finally, customer service is very poor! Went one time to get utensils as I forgot my own, and they had something to say about me taking a measly fork... save your coins, your taste buds, save the smell of your good perfume and please go elsewhere. read more

Sandwiches are pretty large so be ready to be extremely full or save some for later. Plenty of other options to have for a quick lunch on your 30 minute break. Absolutely wonderful local family-owned business. I come here basically every day when I'm at work. Their Iced Coffee is amazing!! I get their soups, salads, and their breakfast sandwiches are killer. It's just a very low key great local spot for a quick lunch or breakfast. If you are in the area and just need a quick bite, check this place out. The prices are pretty good compared to the rest of the places around here too. The owner is also a super nice guy and so are the rest of the staff. All their food is fresh and they cook/carve it up right in front of you too. I love this place for breakfast! While the bagels, oatmeal, and croissants are good the waffle and breakfast platter are the way to go. The waffles have the perfect texture and the price is pretty low. The breakfast platter, which by far is the best deal ($5.79), consists of 2 eggs, toast, sausage or bacon, and potatoes. For a quick breakfast spot in chinatown this place is amazing! Additionally cafe Phillips has great lunch options (sandwiches are great) and the amount of food you get is unmatched for the price. This is a great place to get sandwiches when you don't have much time for a meal. They are super fast and very friendly. I would come here for breakfast - grilled ham and cheese on a croissant or bagel. Yum. They are super quick, even with a line. They also have waffles in the morning. Awesome. Lunch is just as efficient. I love that the meat is actually carved right in front of you. So tasty. Service is very friendly. Great place, and sometimes there's a coupon for the dry cleaners across the street attached to the take-out bag. I don't know why, but hey, coupons are good during these times. This place is conveniently located in the ground floor of my office building. It's nice to have a quick, tasty sandwich shop so close to the office for those days that I forget to pack a lunch. I love that all of their meats are freshly carved as you order, and they are tasty without being overly salty like most deli meats. The turkey is my favorite. It is always warm, juicy, and piled high on top of one of their seemingly endless selections of bread. Their breakfast is also pretty delicious. They cook everything as you order so it always comes hot and fresh. The only complaints that I have are that the staff can be a little rude sometimes. This is mostly due to them trying to rush you through because they are a busy lunch destination, but you can do that with a smile and without being curt with your customers. All in all the food and convenience wins out for me and I will continue to come back! read more

I used to go to the New World Market in Eye St. for my morning coffee and whatever else I felt like eating from their breakfast bar, but then I discovered Cafe Phillips, which is far superior. Coffee's Coffee, right? Please... Dunkin' Donuts vs. Starbucks? Wicked bettah. Each morning I'm greeted by the absurdly friendly kid who works the morning shift (I'm pretty sure he snorts some sort of upper before doing so... not possible to be this cheerful so early in the morning), and all I can think about is how much he must have been picked on in elementary school. It's sad, really. This is a go-to lunch spot for anyone in the Chinatown area as well - freshly carved turkey, ham, pastrami, corned beef on a variety of bread with fresh veggies and a bunch of fixins. They have salads (they look small so i never get 'em), sushi, and a variety of soups that aren't $4 a bowl (take THAT, potbelly...) Would I go too far out of my way to come here? No. But it's the best Coffee/Sandwich shop in a square block of 7th and Eye streets, without a doubt. read more

The sandwiches here are among the best in DC! The ham, turkey, roast beef, and pork are prepared fresh every morning and hand-carved in front of you per your order. What a genius idea that adds so much credibility to the freshness of the sandwich. The set-up is similar to an assembly line where you first choose your meat, then your bread and finally your sandwich accompaniments & dressings. The selection of accompaniments may not be as eclectic as a Subway Restaurant but they do have all the standards; lettuce, tomato, onion, etc. Cafe Phillips is a popular spot during lunch and the place can get packed but their system moves fast considering the meat is hand-carved. The cafe is relatively small with 10 or so tables but stay transient during the lunch rush. Be prepared to pay a bit more for these sandwiches but you truly do get what you pay for and the portions are generous. Their daily soups are also excellent. Try the chicken noodle! The young gentleman wearing glasses behind the counter is quite the character; snapping his fingers and dancing to the beat of his own drum as he rings up your order... it's a little strange... but cool in a "wHY bE NOrmAL" sort of way. read more

so in all fairness i've never actually eaten here so i probably have no credibility whatsoever, but i just wanted to make it known that this place smells quite weird and unpleasant. my other little complaint is that the light and walls are both very yellow. it's ugly. i guess the food here is probably good though because at lunch time the place was full and nobody seemed to be crying. phillips just wasn't for me. update: i decided to give phillips a chance, mostly because i wanted a smoothie and the only other place nearby was starbucks and i didn't want to be basic. guess what? it was terrible. i really did not know that smoothies could be bad, but phillips managed to show me it was possible. lesson learned: trust your instincts. read more
