Years ago I learned that if I go to an ethnic restaurant and I'm the only "gringo" it's probably going to be very authentic. In this please, I was the only gringo. There was not one person having a convo in English. Cool! Now, If you've never been to a market in a tropical country you might not like it when you first walk in. If you have, this place will bring back memories. I'll explain in a bit. For starters, you'll need to have your translator app ready, unless you speak Portuguese. Everything from the items on the shelves to the items in the case scream "Brazil." But the thing that I like the most about it is that it's pretty warm in here. It's 79° outside but the AC is not on. And this is why I made My comment about how you might not like it. To me, this really adds to the local feel. While I don't mind it at all, there will be many who will be upset by the fact that it's not cold in here. I said "cold," not temperate. Since moving to the south, and having been married to a Memphian, it's my observation that many people want to walk into a place and be blasted by 65° air. A short while after that they're wearing a sweatshirt. ‍ In a tropical country, heat and warmth are part of the day to day. You get used to it. It's just the way it is. But it comes along with so many other wonderful things that it doesn't really matter all that much. That's my perspective on visiting here. I'm sure that on the hotter days they put the AC on. Clearly 79° doesn't do it. It beings me back to trips to the DR, Puerto Rico and other hot places. I like it. It adds to the ambience. I would NEVER take points away from a place like this for not putting on the AC. In fact, I'd add points. There are so few places that are so truly authentic that you simply must come here and try it. read more

I wanted to try something new for breakfast yesterday, so I was excited to see this place on Ubereats. I ordered a lot, because I wanted to make sure there was something hubby would like. I ordered the X-Tudo without salad for me and the X-Picanha for hubby. These are breakfast burgers. Mine had bacon, ham, cheese and a fried egg. His had steak, bacon, ham, cheese, fried egg, tomatoes, lettuce, corn, and potato stix. Mine was pretty good, but the burger beef was a little off. I don't know if was a lower grade than I am used to or just a hair past its prime but it tasted a little gamey. Hubby mentioned that the steak on his was low grade, and when I told him it was from a Brazilian steakhouse he said that made sense. He said it was very chewy, and that the veggies on his burger really didn't add anything. I would probably get him the X-Tudo without salad to try next time. The buns were AMAZING. Just beautiful. I got the lemon juice and got the strawberry for him. I loved mine, it is lime, super-tart, and very refreshing. Not a sweet drink for children, it was bracingly sour. Hubby said his was nice but not very strongly flavored, with the green strawberry flavor he doesn't really enjoy, like maybe some underripe berries were used. I enjoyed the Misto Quente, which I would recommend as a weekday breakfast, as it is a manageable amount of food that will leave you satisfied but not needing a nap LOL. It is a nice little French roll with ham, fried egg, and cheese. I tried the Croquete de Mandioca and the filling was good, but there was a lot of excess pastry around the edges I just discarded. The Kibe de Queijo was yummy to me, loaded with flavor in the meaty exterior and creamy gooey cheese interior. Hubby found the spices and herbs off-putting. The buns alone are worth going for, and the Lemon juice is making my mouth water just thinking about it. read more

I have never had brazilian food before, but decided to try this place after passing by it a few times. I enjoyed it very much and will be going again. This is a nice bakery and cafe with a buffet inside, you can dine in(about $14) or pay per pound. I chose to eat at the buffet. They have many options of fruit, vegetables, salads, and various dishes. I enjoyed the feijoada(black bean stew) and the braised beef. The buffet was very tasty and the pricing was very reasonable. I took a look at the bakery area after i finished my meal and decided on a sweet cornbread cake(Bolo de fuba cremoso) and a cheese bread. The cheese bread was soft and slightly crispy on the outside, it was still warm and tasted amazing - identical to the bread you would find at the brazilian steakhouses. The corn cake was very moist, reminded me of a cornbread pudding. Everything in total came to about 18 dollars and I was very satisfied with my visit. The food was great, the ambiance was great - you can hear people talking in spanish and it was not too loud. I will be returning for the buffet and possibly to try more of their pastries. read more

This was my first time here. I was really impressed with the quality of the foods here (especially the meats) on the buffet. I ordered a couple of desserts too which were delicious (especially the milky cake in a cup). This is an authentic Brazilian restaurant and both the employees and customers were speaking Portuguese (the language in Brazil). Our first time eating here was on Christmas Eve, Tusday. We were looking forward to eating Churrasco Steak Brazilian style, unfortunately we arrived at the wrong day and time. According to the hostess they serve Churrasco Steak on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday only. So we had to settle with what was on the buffet. The appearance of the food was not appealing at all, it looked like it had been seating there all day, I recommend the food is covered with a transparent case. Since there was no other place open to eat, we decided to stay, we also ordered pastries to go. The food was ok, but the pastries were delicious. We returned on Friday to experience the Churrasco Stake around 4 pm, according to the hostess we arrived to late. They serve the Chrrasco from 12pm to about 3pm and whatever it is leftover goes on a tray for buffet. It was soooo disappointing! Why do they not have signs with the day and times in display? My boyfriend and I were looking for a place with a buffet for lunch. He found this place on Yelp. Inside is well lit and there's plenty of seating with tables in the middle and booths along the walls. The buffet is small but the food is absolutely delicious! It consisted of spaghetti noodles, fish, chicken, rice, beans, cow rib, and a few other options. Near the end of the meal, the employee at the register came over with little squares of cakes--what a great added touch! The cake was good. It was moist and had hints of coconut. There's no table service so you have to pick up drinks at fridge near the front. They have water and a variety of sodas. There's also a Keurig on a counter along the wall. And you have to clear your table. (They have plastic ware, as well as regular dinnerware). At the end of the meal, we checked out at the register. Pastries are in the display case under the register. The atmospheres was also truly Brazilian , you could hear the families that arrived to eat speaking Portuguese. It made you feel like you were definitely not at your local deli down the street . You certainly get plenty of food at this place. We came for lunch and were served the full plate. I enjoyed the black beans, chicken and steak but could not finish all the food on the plate. I really enjoy the coxinhas, brigadeiros, and the beef and cheese pastels. I also loved this fruit cake they made. I don't remember what it was called, but it was one of the best desserts I had there. Those are my favorite items. The owner is so very sweet and kind. Her son is the one who knows English so if you don't speak Portuguese or Spanish look for a younger man and he will be able to help you. It doesn't have the best pastels I've ever had. They tend to be more on the dry side and need more flavor, but I've had some other empanadas in the area and still think these are better and if you want to try Brazilian food that isn't a steakhouse then I recommend you trying this place out. read more
