I went back for some grilled octopus today and I had to add an extra star because their salsa has improved quite a bit. There's still a little more tomato than I normally like but compared to what it used to be, I'll take it. The prices here are a little steep but the food is so good it doesn't bother me much. I really need to try the whole fried fish. A lot of people have told me that the whole fried fish is to die for so I'll have to force myself to not order the octopus next time even though I love it so much. This is most definitely some of the best seafood in Las Cruces or El Paso so I highly recommend giving them a try. read more

Wow! Great service! Amazing food! We each had a taco as an appetizer, mine was shrimp, CA's was fish, both came with a big pile of lettuce, avocado, limes, chipotle dressing, etc. Next came complimentary bowls of fish soup! Two of those would make a hearty meal! Then we received our grilled octopus and whole fried Bass. Both exceeded expectations. The octopus was tender and cooked thoroughly with a bed of fried onions, sides of cilantro, tortillas and "black sauce" which I assume is and tasted like tamarind sauce. The fish was huge and meaty, perfectly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Both were the best we've ever add. I also had a Modelo Especial with a shrimp skewer! read more

This place is not the same. I used to like their caldo de siete mares but the last two times I have been disappointed. It was too watery, hardly had any seafood, and tasted less than satisfactory. If you have to go to Las Cruces for any reason, make sure you have time to eat at Delicious Del Mar. To start the corn salsa is amazing. The cold tower of shrimp, octopus, avacado, and scallops is the best appetizer these foodies have ever had. The seafood chilaquiles were epic. I mean epic. They could write songs about those chilaquiles. The fish tacos have way too much spicy Salsa in them. Way too much, but the fish inside was done to perfection and the flavor was outstanding. I am not a fan of Las Cruces, and have always tried to avoid it. I call it little El Paso, but damn if I am not looking for and excuse to go back, just to eat at the Hone of the octopus. Clean and quiet atmosphere and the restaurant was busy when we went on a Saturday afternoon. Service was great and accommodating. I had the fish tacos and they were fantastic. I wanted to try a margarita but I was driving so maybe next time. Menus has good options and is mostly sea food so if you're in the mood for that this place would be perfect. The soup they give you free as an app...just avoid. Wait for the good stuff to arrive. The breaded shrimp is actual shrimp. Not those little frozen things some places pass off as seafood. Stuffed banana peppers! Yep, octopus but we are not that adventurous - yet! Huge shrimp cocktails. Street style tacos were exactly what you hoped they would be. Several TVs. Pay at the register. Ordered the fish soup and it was cold and lacked flavor. Ordered the asado plate and it was also cold. It came with a side soup and that was also cold and flavorless. The beans on the plate tasted like they were from a can, the lettuce in the salad looked like it was frozen for a while. The kids plate of chicken nuggets and fries tattered like they have freezer burn. This is one of my favorite dinner date spots and my partner's favorite hangover cure. The service and food is ALWAYS on point. Their corn salsa and chips is so tasty, I even tried replicating it at home. Their dishes are served in large portions at reasonable prices. You can easily order their tacos or burritos vegetarian style. My partner loves the Vuelve a la Vida. I love that the servers speak to you in Spanish, gives me a chance to practice. Passing through New Mexico hungry my husband and I both love mariscos so with the great reviews we decide to stop here and have never been so disappointed with food in our lives. For starters the chips were stale. Then the salsa was disgusting, it just tasted like straight green chile. We order a michelada and it tasted like straight tomato juice that had no spices. I got shrimp ceviche which come to find out is just a plate with 1 plain tostada with really thick pieces of shrimp, chopped up tomatoes and the tiniest hint of red onions & cilantro. With 3 slices of avocado. Horrible. Worst I've ever had. My husband got aguachiles which basically was just a big bowl of soup with some shrimp in there. So I was in Cruces for an event and was looking for something tasty to eat with my cousin. He invited me to eat here because it was one of the few places he thinks provides consistent food all the time. I couldn't agree with him more. Right when we got there the service was quick and friendly. The chips and salsa were spot on. I could have just ate the chips and salsa and drank a beer and would have called it a day! So I ended up ordering some battered fish tacos and was very impressed. The Fish was fried perfectly and the condiments on the tacos were freshly cut and probably from a farmers market. There were 3 tacos on the plate and were very filling! We also got a tomato soup with some fish and it was killer! Not to sure what it was called but it def hit the spot! I was warned to stay away from seafood restaurants in the desert with the obvious concern of freshness with the exception of the five star joints in Vegas, of course. Well, Delicias del Mar has proved me wrong! I found this place 4 days before moving from Las Cruces and guess how many times I went there before leaving....yup...4 times! I can't even describe how flavorful their food is. One of the dishes I ordered was the fried fish plate. It wasn't much to look at. It appeared to be plain rice, with plain mashed potatoes and a fish that looked....well...plain. We'll looks are deceiving as far as this plate goes. It was the perfect blend of buttery rice, creamy potatoes and fish fried up just right. We also enjoyed the fish tacos, the carnitas which still have me salivating, and a few other shrimp dishes. Their soup is just awesome. Excellent and surprisingly super-speedy service (our entrees were served an at average of 7 minutes after ordering). We decided to go to Delicias del Mar after a matinee in the theater. I had one of the fish filet dinners. The topping of onions, garlic, mushrooms, and peppers was very good. My wife had the fish tacos which can be described as having too little fish and too much breading. The side of mashed potatoes and rice were okay, but both were starches. Came in on a rainy day looking for fish soup, but opted for the fish tacos. I ordered them a la Mexicana (tomato, onion and jalapeño). It came with a fish soup appetizer. Its a fresh tomato based broth with white fish. Not bad. Tacos came street taco style with layered tortillas and a pile of fish on top. Great tacos, fresh fish and veggies. Rice was very flavorful, but it also had a big serving of mashed potatoes topped with a green olive. Potatoes were good for mashed potatoes, but I didn't feel like they belonged with the dish. Portions were generous and you pay for it. It was about $12 for lunch with no soft drink. When I paid, I noticed the entrance and register were dirty. Paint faided and chipped from neglect. FAIRLY GOOD ALL-AROUND MEXICAN RESTAURANT FEATURING SEAFOOD Delicias del Mar is ranked 13th for the total dining experience on the 2018 Mr. Sensitive list of the Mexican food restaurants in town. This is one of those restaurants that I have ambivalent feelings about. I have had some very good experiences here and very good meals, but I've also had some less than thrilling experiences here and some so-so food. So, I'm not going to tell you that it's "awesome" and I'm not going to tell you it's "horrible" like so many others might. This is a clean and fairly large and open restaurant with good lighting. It can be somewhat noisy and loud Mexican music may be pumped throughout the place. Yet, it is a fairly comfortable place to dine. The ambiance is casual but fine. The service I have found to be generally pretty good, but on occasion a waitress might be less than attentive or engaging. Not exactly enthusiastic. Overall, no complaints. The food is just average as far as the basic New Mex cuisine. The seafood can be real good. The chips I've had here are ok but the salsa not so great...tomato based and lacking flavor. But, it varies from day to day....so, who knows? They serve a cup of creamed corn with pieces of green chile with each meal. It is very tasty. The fiesta shrimp plate had a number of large and juicy shrimp wrapped in bacon. These were really good shrimp. The mashed potatoes served with the dish were just ordinary. A fish soup with a nice broth and pieces of fish, carrots, onions, and celery was quite good. Overall, this was a good meal but the price was a little high. But, it is seafood. I also sampled their FISH FILLET IN DIABLO SAUCE. The large fillet was prepared very well and had a nice flavor. The reddish brown chipotle sauce was high on the heat. The vegetable soup the meal came with was somewhat bland. This restaurant is one of the best bets if you are interested in Mexican seafood, but most of the New Mex food served here is sort of pedestrian. What you can expect if you go: A fairly nice ambiance if not too noisy, service that is sort of hit or miss, and generally good Mexican seafood dishes. Was happy with the flavorings and the complimentary soup but something about the taste of the shrimp was a little off.
