Walk up counter service, with friendly and kind staff. This little taqueria has just a handful of tables and chairs and was quiet on my late afternoon visit. I ordered the tacos, four to an order, two each AlPastor and Carnitas they were exceptionally good in their own style, each done near perfection, as I said perhaps the best in town. I grabbed a jarritos outta the chill box and a seat, about ten minutes later my tacos arrived. Four traditional street style tacos in the basket with lime wedges and some sliced radish on the side. 4.5 Stars - All in all a great choice for authentic mexican food. Rounded up for the kind service. Definitely worth the effort to find and support *google maps put me on the street behind the taqueria as the entry - the small entry is on Reynolda on the curve... 01123

Seemed like it was time to revisit this small taqueria. On my initial visit I tried the Quesabirria…read moreTacos, which were excellently accompanied by a rich consommé. This time in I wanted to try another of my favorite Mexican dishes - Carnitas. I also decided to try an Al Pastor Huarache. Just as before, my order was out quickly and I was on my way. I started with the Huarache - basically a thick flatbread loaded with beans, Al Pastor (my meat choice), avocado, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream. Served with both a verde and a roja salaThis was an excellent item, as good as any I've had in the area. I saved most to be shared and finished later, not an easy decision. The Carnitas was another excellent item. The pork chunks here are as large as any I'd run across, but they are tender with some outside crust because they are slow simmered in lard - remember when lard was bad for us? The carnitas come with rice, beans, a bit of white onion, and a simple lettuce and tomato salad, and tortillas. This was a great meal - the carnitas were tender, I put some of the pork chunks in tortillas, added some onion, a squeeze of lime and rotated the salsa. On most Mexican salads, simple or otherwise, I squeeze a good amount of lime juice and a healthy amount of salt - this type of "dressing" goes well with most entrees. I do recommend this little place, the owner is good people, and the food is top notch!

My friend made her own salad and really enjoyed it too. The food tasted fresh, the atmosphere was fun, and the restaurant was clean. The staff were also super friendly and welcoming. Definitely a solid 8/10 spot if you're looking for "build your own" options, tacos, quesadillas, or burritos.

While not all of our local options are great, we have a reasonably large number of options that are good enough to make them regular stops for me. Taco Mama is not going to be on that list, I'm afraid, based on my experience thus far. The facility itself seems fine, though the ambient noise level was rather loud (likely influenced by all the metal and concrete). But the food, the feel, the service and the value just don't compete well with all those other places we have to choose from. The unhelpful attitude of the clerk taking my order didn't start things out well; she seemed genuinely annoyed about being there, and that attitude carried over into her tone when answering my questions or prompting me for info she needed. Also on the service side of things, I had to stop the waitress from throwing away my food -- a plate over half full -- after I'd walked not more than ten steps away to refill my drink. [She apologized, but only after I had to confront her twice; still don't understand why "don't throw that away!" could have been confusing.] The burrito and beans I ordered were edible, but so bland that I might as well have been eating packing materials. The accompanying chips were warm, but the cup of salsa was quite possibly the least appealing salsa I've ever been served in a restaurant. I've had Taco Bell food I've enjoyed more than this. And yet I had forked over almost $20 for such a disappointment. Maybe it was an off-day. Maybe the tacos are the way to go here instead. But I don't think they offered even a hint of a reason for me to try Taco Mama again any time soon.

She was impressed with their posts and they made it easy to navigate their weekly schedule. We arrived shortly after 4pm on a Saturday afternoon at 801 Silas Creek Parkway in Winston. There were several cars there but no line. We approached the food truck and started looking over the menu. Everything they do features birria style meat. Neither of us have much experience ordering birria style dishes but the young man at the window was helpful in his recommendations on what to order for now and what dishes would save best for leftovers. We went with his recommendation to share the quesadilla now and order the tacos for later. The prices range from $12-15 per item but they also have a birria pizza for $35 which looks large enough to feed several people. We paid with a credit card and we're provided a small device that alerts customers when their orders are ready. This was the first time we have ever received something like this and though it was brilliant because so many times you order at a food truck you are stuck standing close by so you can hear your name when the order is ready. Our food was prepared in a timely manner and we decided to drive up the road before eating. When we opened up our containers everything looked incredible. We immediately dug in and the quesadilla was full of delicious ingredients and flavor. I took a few pictures of my tacos but saved them for later. I'm happy to report that they were delicious heated up. We will absolutely be back soon to try even more!
