This Mexican grocery, a classic hole-in-the-wall, has a small taqueria in the rear. There are a dozen or so tables and booths available for dining in, and the area is clean and bright. The menu is not especially broad, about what you'd expect with this type of spot! I ordered the Pozole Rojo and 2 Chorizo Tacos. My order was quickly done, no more than 10 minutes. The tacos were not topped when I got them, the meat was in warm tortillas and the chopped onion, lime, and cilantro were in a separate area. I applied the toppings, added lime juice and some of several salsas completed the item. These are good tacos and there is plenty of chorizo in them. I would order tacos here again if in the area, but it is not a destination spot. The Pozole Rojo was not really good. It was greasy, under seasoned, and had a bitter after taste. This place is a hidden gem in Kernersville! TORTILLAS- homemade made to order - so delicious! QUESADILLA- fried, yes that's what I said fried- I should have ordered more than 1!! SHOPPING- the restaurant is in the back, while you wait walk around the market. They have grocery items- but also so many items- I felt like I walked into a market in Mexico. Stopped in on Taco Tuesday to pick up some tacos to go. We like to pick up authentic tacos and make our blacks beans and yellow rice at home. When you enter you're in a store. You have to go to the back where the restaurant section is located. It's small and others have posted pictures. They were very welcoming and I ordered several each of the Asda, Al Pastor, and Chorizo to go. The tacos came out warm and wrapped in aluminum foil. The styrofoam box had the cilantro, onions and lettuce on the side to dress them how you like. It also included two sauces. Both excellent. The tortillas were soft and may be homemade. We liked the asada and I particularly liked the chorizo which was very spicy. We'll try some of the pollo next time. read more

Well...let's just say don't eat in expecting the prices you see on the menu, posted on the item you pick, or anything! They upcharged our bill nearly $10 simply for eating in! They don't give you the check in back to take to the register, so no transparency in what they decide to charge you. You drink sodas from the cooler there, they double the price! They claim there's a sign but where? And why? We got a bag of chips marked $2.59 - nope! Those were now $5. This bait and switch tactic was not ok. We enjoyed the food, we're excited but seriously. Nope. We were first (and last) time customers. Unfortunate for the business, as we would have been back, and likely shopped the market. There is nothing like legitimate Mexican food! It's places like these that put Taco Bell to shame! I decided to come here for lunch today, and I don't have any regrets at all! What's cool about this place is the restaurant is within this grocery shop. It's near the back, and is really clean which is a huge plus for me. Another thing I like about this place is that when you go at the right time, it's pretty empty! I went back and ordered immediately as the guy working there was really nice! They have daily specials and pictures of the items as well. I went with an order of tacos. You get 5 tacos for $6 and if you want to mix with different types of tacos (chicken, steak, etc) then it's $7. I got ALL chicken tacos, an order of rice, and beans as well as some jalepeños for my tacos. I also got some cantaloupe juice to wash it all down. The food came up pretty fast, and it was delicious! The tacos were awesome and full of flavor! I added red and green sauce to them along with the jalepeños and my mouth was on FIRE! That's where the cantaloupe juice came in! It was just sweet enough and cold enough to help alleviate my taste buds which were in fire! After I devoured the tacos, next came the rice and beans. The rice was a nice flavor, nothing fancy but it was good. The retired beans were really good and had a nice texture to them! I added powdered cheese to them, to had some extra flavor. All this came to about $12 which isn't bad at all. I will be back here for sure! If you are looking for good Mexican food at a great price and to avoid the hassle of crowds then this is your place! This is a small Mexican grocery store that has a small restaurant in the back. They also have a meat counter and cases filled with baked goods. The restaurant section is nothing fancy, they have a small menu with with the Mexican basics like tacos, sopes, quesadillas, tortas and a few soups & plate options. I've only had tacos here and they are really nice, the fresh made corn tortillas and the 3 varieties I've tried are all great, I especially like their chorizo. I get my orders to-go when I stop and inside the styrofoam container the tacos are wrapped in foil plain with nothing on them and all the extra items are on the side seperate. Tacos come with onions, cilantro, lettuce, shredded carrots, orange & lemon wedges and a little container of sauce. Eat here!! It smells great as soon as you walk through the grocery doors. Their carne asada, refried beans, sopes, refried beans, (corn) tortillas are all fresh, authentic and delicious. In fact, I'd go as far as to say they have the best tortillas and beans in all of Kernersville. Service is great, and they were very patient in waiting for us to decide what we wanted. My only complaints are: - the displayed menu photos look grander than what they actually serve. But the prices are still affordable and the food is worth every penny. - the road the restaurant is on is a little narrow, especially if you're driving a truck. Ordered 1 al pastor (pork) taco, and 1 steak taco. Got this order to go. When I got back to work, the first thing I noticed was a slight burnt smell from the tortillas. Now these are the "real deal" authentic tacos, not a crispy Old El Paso shell. On the side, there were 2 lime wedges (love em!), cucumber slices, a couple of pieces of tomato, lettuce and cilantro. But no onion. I thought all authentic tacos came with onions!? Oh, and there was some green sauce that tasted pretty good. I've had better tacos, but these were okay. They make everything from scratch, meat is slow roasted and juicy (al pastor, chicken, beef, pork and about 3 other choices), etc. You can get a plate full of fresh handmade corn tortilla tacos (5) with salsa and limes etc for only $6-7! Authentic soups, platters of slow roasted tender chicken or pork w delicious sides, sopas, quesadillas, and more. They have beans for making options vegetarian, but most options are meat based. They also do fresh made Agua Fresca's, like mango, melon and papaya (and more seasonal choices), also homemade rice milk w cinnamon horchata. They have 4 booths and 4 tables. Handmade, fresh everything. Delicious horchata. I had the sopes and they were a slightly too greasy for my taste but the toppings were great. I got mine with beans, cilantro, queso fresco and salsa verde. The salsa verde is great and the ones that tried the red said it had a good roasted flavor. Ask for queso fresco and they'll bring you thick slices! Some of my friends got their sopes with meat and veggies and they loved theirs as well. Authentic? Yes hardly anyone spoke English so you're in the right place! I wasn't a big fan of the chorizo tacos but loved the lengua and pastor. They charge $1 more for mixing it up but it's worth it! I believe it's around $8 with tax for an order of mixed tacos. The great thing is you get 5 tacos within one order so don't worry you'll be full for sure! They also have other items besides for tacos so I will be coming back to try those entrees because they look delicious.
