Not sure how to feel about this company. John, one of the owners, came to clean some upholstered furniture and some area rugs. John is wonderful; he's kind and respectful and helpful, and very professional. Unfortunately, he brought a helper who was the opposite. This helper is his son, and this guy (I can't remember his name - I must have blocked it from my memory) is surly, rude, doesn't respect your home and is generally unpleasant. He was so rude to me, and so in my face about it, that I was a little afraid of him. If John wasn't there too, I'd have had a friend or someone who works in my building come over to be with me while he was there. The job they did is fine, but the rude son put chips in the paint in two different walls. My advice: use this company if they will agree to send John but NOT his son. read more

I had a crappy experience with them. They ruined/loosened/wrinkled 2 of the 4 pieces of upholstered furniture they cleaned, left stains, apprised me of nothing before leaving and were utterly useless when I sent photos and called to calmly complain. The owner, John, kept robotically repeating over and over, "the upholstery was loose when we got there." No John it wasn't. None of wrinkles rips and pulls were there until you came. Not ONE. Ofc, you this was caused by your work. The true measure of how good a company is goes beyond the quality of their work. How they handle complaints are a huge factor and they were indifferent, which leaves me little choice but small claims court. Obviously, I will never use them again and with so many competitors in their area of service, you should think twice. I'll never understand why Yelp doesn't allow reviewers to choose "zero stars?" I mean, if you're complaining about a company's shoddy performance, isn't it likely you're going to want to opt for no stars? If 1 star indicates "not good," than no stars should available to rate them as terrible which is how I would rate Delmont. read more

I had several silk and wool carpets cleaned by Delmont. The wool carpets were fine but, unfortunately, one of my silk carpets was ruined. When I complained to the owner I was shocked by his hostility and denial of any wrong doing. I would never recommend this company mainly because of their lack of professionalism and accountability. read more

Our couch had never been professionally cleaned and had been in our home throughout our twin's childhood (think milk stains, bathroom accidents, etc.). Ross did a great job advising how the couch should be professionally cleaned (and providing realistic expectations for the end result), was very quick and efficient in cleaning, and, in the end, the couch looks great! I had a terrible experience with this company. I placed an order to clean a rug and the morning of the day they were supposed to pick up the rug in the afternoon, they called and said the owner (yes, the owner!) who made the arrangement with me made a mistake and they could not pick it up at the original time we all agreed to, and they wanted to schedule the pick-up to another time when I was not available. In my discussion with them, it became clear this is one of the most discourteous, unreliable, disorganized and unprofessional companies which I have dealt with in a long time. I cancelled my order. In a city with numerous options for services, I would highly recommend choosing a different rug cleaning company. P.S. I would give this company NO STARS. read more

I had an unfortunate experience with this company. The work by one of the men was shoddy and sloppy. He removed my refrigerator plug to plug in his equipment, blew the circuit, left a big stain on my kitchen floor and spoke to me in a very rude way. I had called the company to come back to fix a problem with the carpet and to fix the kitchen floor. was with attitude. The gentleman who cleaned the carpet did a good jobThe other person, Marty, did work hard to fix the kitchen floor but left it uneven in color. He was nasty and rude. CAVEAT EMPTOR. I don't usually write reviews but I feel it is called for here Should you use this company, don't let them send MARTY. He is a loose cannon and does VERY SLOPPY work. Hired them to clean my carpets, but the chemicals they used turned parts of a beige carpet green. They did not warn me about the risk of discoloration. If they had, I wouldn't have gone ahead with it. I'll need to replace the carpet at my own expense as they have not been responsive to my requests and have not answered emails. Delmont recently cleaned four rugs, a sectional sofa, and a glider with ottoman in our home, and we were extremely happy with the results. It was easy to schedule the consultation and then the appointment for the work itself; on both occasions, John (one of the owners) was there. He was professional and helpful, even offering to fix a broken blind in my son's room. On the day of our cleaning, they were unfortunately delayed due to traffic, but began cleaning as soon as they arrived and worked quickly and efficiently to get the job done. I have used Delmont Carpet and Upholstery Cleaners for ten years. They are smply the best--a Godsend. John and Ross, the partners, are always prompt, courteous, friendly, and professional. They have taken stains out of a very expensive beige silk rug for me countless times, returning it to a state that I can only describe as pristine. They have cleaned a white fabric sofa many times and left it looking perfect. Also other rugs and blinds. They are my backstop. I know if someone spills something in my house, I don't have to worry. We had Ross and a helper come over for an estimate to clean our outdoors mattress and cushions on our rooftop and they ended up doing the job right there and then. They are very professional, attentive and did an incredible job. Plus, they gave us tips on how to care for outdoors pillows/mattresses. Our rooftop looks impeccable now. I recently had a terrible experience using this company. They picked up a rug and said it would be returned in 2 weeks. After multiple phone calls it was over 6 weeks. it was agreed they would lay the rug out when returned, first when it was picked up and two other times on the phone. The delivery person dropped the rug with my doorman and said he was in a rush. I called and asked them to come back and lay the rug. First the man on the phone said they would come back and than called and said they were too busy. I am on the Upper East Side, this is a rug in my entry way, and it would take 10 minutes maximum. I explained this was unsatisfactory, and was told things happen. I then explained how I was disappointed and they would be losing a customer. He told me to have a nice day. Delmont Upholstery Cleaners was wonderful to work with! Two technicians arrived promptly at 9 and worked diligently for approximately two hours cleaning two sofas with both seat and back cushions, one easy chair with both front and back cushions and some decorative pillows. As is always the case, one of the two technicians is one of the owners of Delmont. I was told that this is always the case. John, one of the owners, cleaned and Scotch Guarded all of the upholstery while the other technician assisted. They did a wonderful job!! We had not had these cream colored sofas cleaned since we had purchased them more than two years ago so some of the ground in dirt was still slightly evident. They returned at no charge and worked on those areas that needed to be redone. A few days later, a guest's shirt left a substantial amount of dye on an arm pad. When we called Delmont to ask for suggestions re. how to clean the large stain, they came and cleaned it at no charge. We would highly recommend Delmont not only for their upholstery cleaning, but also their outstanding customer service!! We wouldn't think of using another upholstery cleaning company! My family and I are in the process of recovering from a bedbug infestation, and we had to have heat remediation to our entire apartment. Green Earth Pest Control did the job, see my review under their name. But the question remained when we moved back to our apartment, what do we do with all those sofas and carpets? The heat did not cause any damage, but just the yuck factor was enough to make us want to throw out all that stuff, but it was at least $15,000-$20,000 worth of furniture and carpets. A friend of mine had recommended Delmont years ago, and I gave them a call. When you mention to people that you had a bedbug problem, you can be treated like an Ebola patient. But I spoke with the wonderful receptionist, Cathy, and told her about the problem, and she didn't hesitate to book an appointment. Delmont is a family owned and operated business that reminds me of my childhood in Brooklyn, when every business was a family business. I read on Yelp that one of the owners always shows up to do the job, and sure enough, Ross came with his young assistant Johnny, who happens the be the son of Cathy and one of the other owners. We have a white sofa and young children, and that sofa was on the verge of being thrown out anyway, just about everything has been spilled on it. But after the bedbugs, we were definitely leaning towards throwing it out. And a sleeper sofa in a bedroom was filled with dead bedbugs. And then there was our beatiful huge Oriental carpet in the living room. I was never going to throw that out. Ross and Johny got to work on the sofas and the carpets, and everything looked so great, I had them come back a few days later to do carpets and chairs in the other rooms that I originally thought didn't need it. But I was shocked at how much filth was coming out of them. When everything was finished and dry, it was like brand-new. I can't believe that white sofa is white again! For around $1000, I had a huge amount of work done, and it returned seemingly hopeless pieces to almost perfect condition. Smells cleaner and fresher too. It turns out that Delmont is the company that my building uses to do the hallway carpets, so they knew my building staff, and Ross promised to ring my bell and say hi next time he is in my hallway to clean. Just like family! It's a wonderful business, and I will use them on a regular basis to freshen up my filthy furniture in the future, hopefully without bedbugs! read more
