Honestly worst food I've had in a long time. For starters the condiments in the outside bins are sun bleached and have probably gone bad due to the awful discoloration and smell the Tapatio bottle had. The utensils are dusty as well, they're pre made and left outside to collect debris. The food is over priced and under seasoned. We tried about 5 different dishes and I was not pleased with any of them. Stay away from this place, it is greasy, stale and not worth the calories, might as well eat fast food at this point. The food was pretty good apart from our hamburgers being medium rare ,I'll take the blame because I didn't tell them medium well but restaurants usually ask how would you like your burgers or steaks cooked but we never received an option. I had a party of 10 and I dont know if she was the manager or the owner but she was very demanding and not very welcoming, she seemed agitated that we disturbed her from being on her computer we had to seat ourselves next to table she was sitting on her computer at ,she appeared to be upset and rudely told me to move my baby car seat because it was blocking the isle and it was a fire hazard ,at this point i just wanted to leave but didn't want spoil a good time for my family .I just feel like if you coming to spend $300.00 in an establishment they would be happy to see coming and give you better treatment unfortunately not so, not sure if I'll be coming back to Dels hideout .The actual waiter was kind and respectful so I'm giving 3 stars because of him. read more

We will be back to try the non breakfast menu but I can't say my family was impressed by the breakfast/brunch menu. Thumbs up: The location is cool, layout is good, kids area is great. All the alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink options are top-notch. The chicken grain salad was delicious hands down, and large portioned. Service outside was great and attentive. Thumbs down: the chilaquiles was too much crispy tortillas, and why no black beans? Seriously they're cheap. Also not enough cheese or crema. Hot sauce selection is lacking and the "homemade buffalo sauce" is not recommended since it tastes too much like Tabasco with butter (not unique). The French toast was fine but did not come mixed up together warm in a skillet as described to us at the front cashier. I don't know if she was new but her customer service skills should get some work too, mostly just stop trying to multitask. I'd rather you keep your attention with me once you start taking my order, not interrupt the process to ask the patron at the bar if the food was good and if he needed another drink. Overall the food quality felt lacking for the inflated price. As I said, we will be back with friends for a family get together to try more food, in the evening, when we can drink and let the kids play. I waited for months for this place to open and it was absolutely worth the wait! It was no surprise that the food is fantastic considering it is part of the Cohn group family of outstanding restaurants. Besides the creative menu of unique casual dishes, the energy in this place is something special. I have tried the vast majority of the menu and can not decide on a favorite..it's ALL GOOD! Everyone that works there has a smile on their face, genuinely happy to serve you. I've frequented the next door hotels and today I decided that I wanted to give Del's a shot. I looked at the menu and the first thing I saw was $17.65 for a pulled pork/brisket sandwich. Little pricey but I thought what the hell, it's probably hella good! And MAN, WAS I RIGHT! That Big O' was ON POINT! The macaroni & cheese was like my granny's & the coleslaw with the pickled sweet& spicy pickle set it all off! We order to-go and went to pick it up. The general manager or someone like that was pretty rude to us and she forgot to put one of our meals in the bag AFTER we paid $50.15 for two sandwiches, two sides & two sodas. Like I said the prices are high but the food was truly excellent! Who ever is in that kitchen knows exactly what they are doing! I will recommend this place specifically for the AMAZING FOOD but honestly, everyone gets that COVID has affected everyone but when I looked at my receipt later that night I saw that they had already added a "side gratuity" with a disclaimer that says ALL GUESTS WILL PAY A SURCHARGE OF 4% on their bill to compensate for the pay increase due to Covid & lack of workers. I don't mind paying for GOOD FOOD but I do mind being TAXED AND THEN ASKED TO TIP ON TOP OF THAT....Um, bro, we are all in this together, why do y'all have to tax a surcharge on top of super pricey food? As a business, if you can't afford the staff or food on the menu then you need to downsize. Just because your restaurant is located in the middle of two hotels doesn't give you the right to up charge food and drinks to tourists and travelers. I went in with my wife and son. Kids eat free on Wednesday and I wanted to save a few bucks so that was a major plus to the establishment. They have a kids area and an arcade area, gave me a little one on one time with my wife while my son played with other kids. I ordered a Dels burger and my wife got chicken and grains salid with deviled eggs. The food was so good and the atmosphere was great with good customer service. The guy who brought our food, John, was very friendly and helpful with the questions we had. This place is set up beautifully and great for kids and good vibes. Great food and customer service. Food was fine, service was terrible. (We ordered to go by the way, not done in) First, no one answered their phone for so long we drove down there to put our order in. Ok, fine. Inconvenient sure, but understandable. My mom was told the food would be ready in 10 minutes. My husband went in after 15 minutes to grab it and was treated poorly by employee after employee, including a female manager. When he gave the name and it wasn't on the counter, they all walked away without following up. After 25 minutes, we called to find out what was going on since no one would give my husband the time of day in the restaurant. They realized our food had been on the counter the whole time but instead of using the name given they had written "lady here". No one had followed up with the kitchen, checked the bag, anything to help my husband and continually and rudely brushed him off since he wasn't the "lady here". We had also told them someone else would be picking up the food, gave our name, etc. No apologies after everything, food was cold, bread on sandwiches got soggy, etc. But the worst part is being treated so terribly. 25 minutes feels a lot longer with a baby in the car with you and you were only expecting 10 minutes We like to support local business during these hard times, but we were so upset by the interaction, we'll be taking our business elsewhere. After my original review, I did hear from Sabrina of the Cohn Restaurant Group. We exchanged emails and a telephone call. She made good on her promise to rectify the experience by extending a gift certificate to my family for another opportunity for Del's Hideout to show us excellence in food quality and customer service. The gift certificate is good for one year, and as we do get to the San Diego area at least twice a year to visit our youngest grandchild, we will surely return. Sabrina's can-do attitude and demeanor are so encouraging. Leadership like that is so appreciated. We will return. read more

I have been to dels three times. The first time I liked it just fine, second time had a bad experience but thought maybe a one off. Today confirmed I won't be going back. We arrived and were told to sit anywhere we'd like. Immediately after we sat and got comfortable we were asked to move to a smaller table in case they got a bigger party. (There were other big tables open and lots of tables in general). Why not just seat us instead of saying sit where you'd like. It made us feel really uncomfortable and forced to move even though we really preferred and wanted to sit where we were. Then the waitresss told me they don't have tots. I later saw they in fact do have tots on the menu. And many pics on here of tots. I got onion rings instead and they were super heavy batter and oily. We got two burgers-- the TJ and the stuffed one. The stuffed one was greasy slop mess. They use liquified American cheese instead of nice shredded melty cheddar. All the cheese liquid seeped out right away and it was really more of a regular non stuffed burger with extra grease. The gooey cheese bite you'd expect in a stuffed burger was no where to be found. The TJ burger was okay but also served with a very soggy bun and falling apart. Not enjoyable to eat and couldn't even get it to stay in place when restacking it together. The food here is reallllllllllly greasy like we didn't finish it and I stilll feel sick to my stomach like 2 hours later. Lots of oil. And we eat quite a bit of fast food so that should speak volume. I will not return. Also- the servers are off putting here. Our server was nice (diff from whoever asked us to move) but told us they don't do tots when they do. I remember a third (diff server) I had previously also made me feel uncomfortable with some passive aggressive comments. That visit (few months back) they explained their happy hour menu incorrectly and we chose the beer she pointed to and said was on happy hour for $4.00 but later charged us full price and said it wasn't included in the $4 deal after all. Dislike the vibes the servers bring, dislike the service, and my stomach dislikes the excess of grease that was in both those burgers. I'd like to emphasize this place is no more than 3/3.5* max and I'm really surprised by the 4.5 star review. I won't go back... Food is 3 stars but overall I'd give it 2.5 when u factor in all the weird experience stuff. read more

They serve really good big portions, the food always tastes amazing when I go there, it's even better than going to Phil's bbq. The meat is cook so good that it just easily falls apart. I tend to get the meal for 2 since I eat it with my best friend. Their Mac and cheese is also really good. Great new Cohn restaurant! You start our by getting a menu at the front door and placing your own order at the front counter. There are plenty of options to choose from on the main menu. They also have happy hour and serve brunch on the weekends. Then you seat yourself, great variety of table types and sizes, even a play area for the kids with tables adjacent to the play area. They have a very good craft beer list plus additional cocktails. We had the DC's BBQ Sampler Plate (BBQ Chicken, pulled pork, brisket, Texas toast and 2 sides) which was plenty for the two of us and leftovers to take home. The BBQ brisket was fantastic! Service was great and they have a device at the table where you can request additional drinks, your bill or a server. We can't wait to come back and try out the brunch on the weekends. My husband and I just tried Del's for the first time (old Junk House Gastro-Pub which was ok). From the moment we walked in the friendly staff greeted us and sat us immediately. Restaurant was very crowded but it did not affect the service one bit. Our server Janelle was extremely friendly but not over bearing, very attentive, and just the right amount of checking on our needs. The food, oh my goodness, OUTSTANDING!! I ordered the BBQ boneless chicken breast dinner with collard greens, fries, and it comes with Texas toast, boy was it delicious, I highly recommend. Love this hidden gem. Everything that came out looked delicious and it came out fairly quick too. You can't beat their football specials for food and drinks but their regular menu is definitely reasonable for their portions. We had the Mac and cheese, Homewrecker, Chili cheese fries and pulled pork sliders....sooooo delicious. They offer complimentary vanilla soft serve which is awesome. This place has it all: full bar, dog friendly patio, kids play area, plenty of tv's playing all the football games, clean restrooms and friendly service. Attention lactose intolerants and vegans: I came to Del's for a birthday celebration for my sisters. My boyfriend and I are vegan and were told they have the impossible burger, so we decided to give this place a shot. Unfortunately upon arrival we were made aware that they were sold out of the Impossible Burger. Not a huge deal as we had eaten before hand (JUST IN CASE, pretty much all vegans will do this in preparation for going to a non vegan restaurant) so we settled for some fries and onion rings as we were told by management that these were fried in vegetable oil and were 100% vegan. It was while we were eating that I overheard a family member mention that the soft serve was dairy free! This peaked my interest because I haven't had soft serve for 3 years and was curious to see if was vegan. We asked 3 different staff members if it was vegan before trying some. Two of the staff members stepped into the back "to ask the chef"?And came back out and eagerly replied "yes the soft serve ice cream is vegan, don't worry!". The third was actually the same manager from before and acted so sure that he didn't even go and double check. He simply stated with perfect confidence that it was indeed vegan. Finally we decided to have some, although we have had many bad experiences with food service employees simply not being educated on what "vegan" actually MEANS. So while eating the ice cream, the paranoia of not knowing what exactly was in it had settled in. I pestered my boyfriend for nearly 10 minutes to ask them specifically what the base was. Annoyed, he then went and asked a fourth time to a manager what the ice cream was actually made of. The manager brought out the actual bag of soft serve with the ingredient list. Before reading it, the manager even reiterated "yes it's vegan, it's dairy free." But upon closer inspection of the ingredients they both read and ingredient called "caseinate" listed. For those who do not know, caseinate is in fact a dairy protein that is extracted from cow milk. After learning this and nearly being sick, I am mainly concerned with the fact that this is being called "dairy free" and "vegan" by at least four employees at this restaurant. I'm quite certain that is false advertising, no? While leaving a one star review, I still would like to thank the staff and management at this establishment for teaching me an important lesson, that not only can staff members be entirely uneducated on what "vegan" is, but they will confidently throw the v-word out regardless of what they do or rather DONT know. read more

First time I went here I ordered the pulled pork sandwich was great service was fast and the staff was nice second time was today I ordered the half chicken the wait for the food was about 45 minutes seemed rather long the staff was not nice and rather unhelpful. When I finally got the chicken it was dry and boring my Salad came with the worst dressing I asked for a change after pushing the stupid butt 5 times flagged someone down he acted like I was rude to ask for a change of dressing then brought me the same salad back with the same dressing. I've been here twice, once when the office placed a large order at the end of June and once again today when I ordered take out myself. I enjoyed the Big O Sammie (Brisket, Grilled Onions, Swiss on Texas Toast) so much in June that I ordered the same thing tonight. It didn't even seem like the same sandwich. Tonight the brisket was tough like it had been sitting out for an extended period of time and the other ingredients were non-existent. The whole effect was an overly dry sandwich with little flavor. It tasted more like a sandwich made with pot roast, nothing like brisket. Unfortunately if this had been my first experience I likely would have not gone back. The child's portion of chicken strips was ONE strip. That's it. Tons of fries but ONE measly strip. Absolute rip off. The side order of mashed potatoes for $8 came with the gravy swimming and I mean swimming on top so the whole container was watery and runny and went straight in the garbage. Don't get the Party of 6 option!! Unfortunately myself and 2 friends didn't have a great experience from start to finish. We were seated outside which was perfectly fine but we did request a heater. Heater didn't come, we ordered or drinks and food as the same time, x3 beers and the party of 6 option. We waited easily 10 mins or more for our beer, when the beer arrived I was told the keg ran out but I would get a second full beer once I finished mine. Which I was totally ok with. We had to ask again for the heater and eventually it was brought over. When ordering our food we choose the onion rings and coleslaw as our side. Before the food arrived we were informed they had no longer beef brisket so you were offered ribs instead. Which against totally fine. When the food arrived (For 6 people) it had chicken a decent portion, 3 slices of beef brisket and half a rack of ribs. Now I don't you about you but to split that with 6 people it would be half a slice of brisket and 1 rib each, with like 3 small pieces of chicken. It's more like a party of 6 kids. Remember there was only 3 of us, I'm only 5.5 and 140lbs. We easily finished the plate and by that time our onion rings eventually arrived. So to sum up the experience, I was given the end of a beer and was not given the replacement I was promised, we were told there was no brisket but yet with got brisket and no pulled pork. The onions came after our meal. The meal size only feeds 3 not 6. And to top it off we were charged $6 more because we choose onion rings as a side. We were not explained that. Of meal without tip was $145 for a shitty experience and only for for 3. So don't waste your time, go to Phil's BBQ instead. read more

Kitchen backed up on a Thursday... We arrived at 6:50pm and didn't get our food until 7:30pm. They have a button you can push on the table to get service. I pushed it three times and not once did someone come out. After waiting 30 minutes we grabbed the server that was passing by to ask for an update on our food, he said he would check and said "sorry for the delay, this isn't my area but I can tell you our kitchen is backed up. I can check on your food". He never came back but our food came out 10 mins later. The guy that brought out our food was friendly, but he is the only one who ever checked on us. The food... we spent $50 for two meals and 1 soda. The side of maccaroni was $6 for a cup and was bland and lacked flavor. What a disappointment. Mac and cheese isnt that hard to make. I did have the chicken grain salad which was decent. My husband got the brisket and it was dry. There is a free vanilla ice cream machine. Unfortunately it was in "freezing" status and was not dispensing ice cream when we tried. Overall bad service, we will not be going back.
