I recently purchased 2.6 gallons of propane and was charged a $4.95 Hazardous Materials Charge. When asked the cashier responded, "this company charges a flat rate standard charge for propane refills". I have been a customer of Western Propane Services for many years. They never charged a Hazardous Materials charge for propane refills. To be clear, I didn't dispose of anything. I brought in my 20 gallon tank for a refill. I highly recommend going elsewhere as this makes the price of propane much higher than it should be. I paid $16.69 for 2.6 gallons of propane. Approximately $6.42 per gallon with their BS fee added. They are also closed on the weekends now. Go elsewhere. U-haul at 7422 Garden Grove Blvd is 1 minute away. They do not charge a Hazardous Materials fee and are competitively priced.

It's a bit of a drive for me, but for only $10, it was absolutely worth it. They provide everything you need soap, towels, and all the essentials. So I was able to give my dog a really good scrub without the mess at home. My pup was a little suspicious at first, but he ended up enjoying the experience. After his bath, he got a free treat from the store, and I picked up a ball for him that was only about $4. He was one happy dog! Plus I hated driving with it full and wasn't that confident about attaching it to my grill. Then I found these guys. For less than my local store was charging for a tank exchange, they came to my house, brought the tank up the stairs and attached it. And their customer service was top notch. In my case the new tank had a bad value. I paid $20+ for the exchange, got a defective tank and no help. I called the phone number on the machine they display. Gave some information and then got disconnected. The store manager said they are a total pain. Often the door for the new tank opens and the slot is empty. Your tank is gone and there is no replacement. When elsewhere for a bluerino tank and all is well. So long Amerigas.

I then called Valley propane and they are charging $2.49 and Amerigas quoted $2.17 .So I then called Surburban and asked what was going on and was told it was an error that the new man on the truck had the wrong price on his tablet. My electronic bill came through at $4.83/gallon, so I called again and the very nice lady in the local office tried to help and to explain however the price she quoted after correction was still over $4 per gallon. I asked her to have a supervisor call me, no call came in. I logged into the national Surburban Propane website and after putting in all my contact information and account # I requested that I be contacted, again I was not contacted. I then reread my billing notice that came in the mail and noted the requirement to complain in writing via snail mail which I did, again no calls, no emails and no letters. When the bill hit my Credit card it was for $3.54per gallon which makes it $1.05 higher than Valley propane and $1.37 higher than Amerigas. When I consider the lack of communication and the overpriced propane, I wonder why I am getting propane from Surburban. Latest update to Surburban no service : They didn't charge the full bill on my auto pay credit card . They left off $124.90 and carried it forward for a month and charged interest on the $124.90 . I didn't see it until the paper statement hit. And on this statement they listed the price per gallon at $4.41. Again no calls no emails and no notice that the account was not paid in full. This company is FUBAR! Thats the kindest term I can use. Run from them they are a hot mess!
