Upon arrival at the dealership, the car was ready for delivery. The car was advertised and it was in excellent condition, well above my expectation. Because I had noticed this behavior on previous visits, I decided to ask about it. I asked whether the gloves were intended to protect customers from germs or protect the employee. The employee responded, "We have a lot of gloves. I just didn't have a chance to change them." That response was concerning. Cash is handled by countless people and can carry dirt, bacteria, and other contaminants. Seeing the same gloves used for food preparation and cash handling defeats the purpose of wearing gloves in the first place. What concerns me most is that this did not appear to be a one-time oversight. I have observed similar practices on multiple visits, which suggests it may be a routine habit rather than an isolated incident. Costco may have food safety policies in place, but policies are only effective when they are consistently followed.
