Came here for a late lunch last week after a work event and OMG! HEAVEN ON EARTH! The exterior of the restaurant is pretty unassuming and the inside is dated and nothing to write home about. But the food...I am still thinking about it a week later. I got the three meat dinner with pulled pork, jalapeno/cheddar sausage and brisket. You get two sides and I got potato salad (so good!) and the beans. They give you huge fountain drinks as well, so that's appreciated. Demaris drive thru service is always accurate and fast. The cashiers are always so sweet. I bought 1/2 lb spicy sausage, lb of sliced brisket, potato salad and charro beans. When I first moved to Houston I would got to the 18th Street location when Foleys was around. Back then The m eat was good and the jalapeño corn was incredible. What I had last night at the Shepherd location was horrid. Meat was fatty and stringy, no flavor. Mac and Cheese was soupy and watered down flavorless, the corn looked like it hadn't been mixed properly and there was no kick from the peppers. Oh and it was,all tepid, and I dined in. What a major $28 disappointment. And c it was just me and 4 cops on a Friday night at 8. I highly do not recommend. read more

I love their bbq ! I am really picky about bbq and this location does it for me. The staff is so nice and friendly! They have excellent customer service! The lady at the register is so friendly, welcoming and provides great customer service! The bbq is well seasoned and I really like how they make their bbq sauce. The craft brisket is seasoned so good and the sausage has just the right amount of spice. I've ordered their 2 meat plate, chopped brisket baked potato and their brisket tacos! All are so very delicious! I enjoy that they have different specials each day of the week. Very clean and a great atmosphere to relax and enjoy your food! I eat here at least once a week for lunch. This is one Houston's oldest BBQ establishments. There is something about being an original. So many new BBQ places try to look old. Demeris Bar-b-q is all about managing expectations. There is no evidence that the meats are cooked over wood or charcoal, no smoke flavor, no telltale pink ring near the surface of the meat. As far as I can tell they serve 'bar-b-q' that is cooked in a regular oven and then served with barbeque sauce. That is apparently ok with some people since Demeris has been here a long time, but it is a far cry from real Texas barbeque. Now you know, and that should be all you need to know. read more

All around, this is pretty good barbecue. We stopped by for dinner on a Friday evening around 6pm. There was only one other set of diners when we arrived. We quickly ordered a brisket burger with two sides to share (mac & cheese and green beans). Our food came out very quickly! We happily dug into the sandwich, and weren't very hungry so we split it. If you're coming here with a big appetite, you should probably order a whole sandwich for yourself. The barbecue sauce was great and I felt that they put a decent amount of meat in the sandwich. The mac and cheese was deliciously creamy, and I enjoyed the green beans as well. A few more patrons entered as we left, so I am guessing they get a bit busier later in the evening. Okay, hear me out. Demeris BBQ has a really good deal! We went to try it out and it did not disappoint. Service was great and helped us out pretty fast! The restaurant is pretty old, but I feel like this adds to the value! A place that's been running for a while is a good restaurant in my books. I work in close proximity to this restaurant, so my doctor bought us food from here to try. I was highly dissatisfied with the food and I was not the only one. I tried the chopped brisket baked potato. The meat had no flavor and neither did the sauce they were also stingy with the toppings there was barely any Cheese or chives but they do give you a packet of sour cream at least. I didn't even finish it my meal I ended up throwing it away. I don't know how they're so highly rated. Maybe we came on a bad day. read more

Barbie likes D, but at the same time, she prefers girls. However, she still sees the D Merits. This is not related to that. We've only eaten here twice and the most recent time we were disappointed by a couple of their specialty items, such as the Frito Pie. Altogether though, they're not bad. We will be back in future to try some of the other stuff but so far they haven't been too wonderful for us. It's been at least 30 years since I've been here, but I'm very pleased to report that the quality of their food, the friendly service and the cleanliness of their establishment has not changed. I was greeted with kind friendly faces and the food I ordered was ready very quickly- granted it was not busy, still it came out hot and fresh. Ok the dish, I ordered the brisket taco's and OMG! they were fantastic! The taco shells were crispy and light with an amazing taste, and the brisket was very flavorful and all of the condiments tasted fresh and were also delicious! I also ordered a loaded potato, an IBC root beer and (I'm from Texas) of course pecan pie. All of it was just great! The manager was very friendly and made sure I was well taken care of. Ordered ribs and brisket through Uber eats. Ribs were not the worst but not the best either. The brisket on the other hand was hands down the worst brisket i have ever had in my 29 years of life. It was dry, flavorless and hopeless that even the bbq sauce could not make it taste good. Ordered 1lb of it and after eating maybe 1/5 of it i had to give up and just throw the entire thing away. $30 for a lb of brisket and i feel like i should have been paid to eat that brisket because of how bad it was. I have seen trucks towing a bbq pit that have had brisket 10x better than this. I don't know how this place gets any good reviews if brisket is in the order because it ruins the whole experience. I will never in my life get food from this place again and if i ever hear anybody around me say that the brisket here is good then i will refer them to a doctor to get there taste buds checked because the only thing it tasted like was bland, tough, dry and flavorless. Would never recommend this place and I'm sure the only business they get are people looking for a new bbq place that never return again. We are in Houston tx, how could you let your brisket be this horrible when our city is supposed to be known for great bbq. The pork ribs were the perfect balance of flavor, seasoning and tenderness. I didn't care for the sauce BUT I haven't found any BBQ sauce that I like/love in Houston YET. I took my food to-go but there are plenty of tables and TV's to watch Games with friends The service was refreshingly "energetic" . I don't know about you but recently most restaurant servers can be polite and professional while being numb and robotic. Over worked underpaid employees that work with the PUBLIC have my empathy. Today, our church ordered from Demeris Catering which operates out of their Shepherd location, and it was fantastic! They offer a wide variety on their catering menu -- a lot more than just BBQ! It was Turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing, gravy, and cobblers. Everything was delicious. The turkey was moist -- even the white breast meat was so tender you could cut it with a fork! It didn't need any gravy because it was so flavorful, but their gravy was some of the best we ever tasted, so we just poured it on everything. I would say the mashed potatoes, green beans, and stuffing were slightly on the less flavorful side, but they made up for it with the turkey and gravy as I mentioned and the AMAZING cobblers! Oh, and they have delicious and tender BBQ too! Plus, great customer service when you place an order. I can't wait to order off of their catering menu again!! A server just looked at us while sitting at a table. I had to ask several times where to order before he walked back and another person came out to take our order. The older gentleman that took our order was irritated and when i asked if they carried coke or pepsi he repeated "coke coke coke" about ten times and said. "This is Texas." Sadly this will probably be my last trip to Demeris BBQ. Stated eating the Town and Country location in the 1970s, then later became a regular at the Sharpstown location. Both were closed down eventually. I occasionally hit the Shephard location when in the area. Sorry guys, but you're charging Killens prices and the food just isn't that good. The sandwiches seem to be smaller and the brisket wasn't seasoned and the fries were soggy limp with oil. I think almost $19 for sandwich fries and tea of this quality is ridiculous. I went to pick up my order today and the person giving the orders out wasn't that pleasant but I already paid for my food so I just let it be. I ordered a rib and sausage plate with 3 sides, I paid for the extra one. Sides were, baked beans, potato salad and mac and cheese. I love BBQ and always get baked beans and potato salad as a side and I was totally disappointed in this and won't come back. My ribs were bite size, it's like they were cut in half, and not cooked through and looked awful, I did not eat them at the risk of getting sick. My sausage was mushy and the beans were too sweet, after one taste of each I was done. The only semi decent thing was the mac and cheese but it's not the best mac but considering everything else, it was the best thing on the plate.
