Fancy Stuffed Potato
Angela A.

I've been living near Bellaire, TX for around 2 years now and I pass the this bbq spot pretty often. I've always thought about trying but never did until around a month ago. Way better than I ever expected! I recently visited for the second time and I ordered the Fancy Stuffed Potato. Everything from the potato and ingredients within the potato were very succulent! The beef was cooked well and seasoned perfectly. I also ordered the green beans and peach cobbler on the side. The peach cobbler was good despite what I initially assumed. The times that I have been to this bbq spot it's always pretty empty, but I've only gone during the late evening, so I'm not sure of the traffic they may get earlier in the day. However, I definitely plan to eat here again!

I was driving down Rice Ave and could not help smelling the smoke from this place. I was hungry and happened to be craving BBQ at that exact moment so I thought I'd give it a go. The portions were humongous! I got the ribs and brisket plate. The side selection is limited, but they do give you quite a bit. The ribs were 4/5 - very well cooked, moist, tender and smokey - loved them! The brisket was a different story - tough and dry...I feel like I could make better brisket - I'd give it 2/5. As some other reviewers have pointed out, the sauce was definitely a winner. I have to admit that I'm the type of person who seems to like sauces on the sweeter side, but I found this sauce very good even though it wasn't sweet at all. If I come by again, I'll just stick with the ribs.

We came right when they opened and got seated right away. The restaurant itself isn't super big so reservations is recommended. They have seating inside and outside and most of the booth seating was reserved up already. We weren't super hungry so we shared some brisket nachos and some ribs. Both were amazing. The nachos had an asian flavor which we enjoyed. It had a lot of flavor but wasn't overwhelming. It had brisket, queso, salsa, queso, and some really good chips. I killed it. The ribs were also really good. An order was 3 ribs and they had a lots of tender meat on the bone and delicious flavor. It was a special for the night but I recommend it if they have it. I love that their menu had a wide variety but a lot of the items are fusion and can't be found anywhere else. For instance, they had smoked pork & kimchi eggrolls, smoked banh mi (vietnamese sandwich), and pho-strami sando. It's BBQ with a twist. But do keep in mind they do not do sliced meats or meats by the pound. Their service was good but very slow. It took them awhile to take our order, food to come, and forever to pay. We even went up to pay but they kept ignoring. Their pricing is good for what it is and portions were a good size. They offer happy hour Wednesday to Saturday from 5-9pm. I would come back and try their other items. I recommend it if you're open to BBQ with an Asian twist.

I've come across a few IG videos of Blood Bros., so when my Fourth of July date wanted BBQ, I knew we had to visit their restaurant. It was even featured on The Michelin Guide list, which made it an even more enticing choice. As I approached the entrance, I was impressed by the spacious and functional outdoor dining area that had ceilings fans and tvs around. As I entered the store and made my way to the counter, I was warmly greeted by friendly staff members. One of them was a meat carver, while the other was responsible for taking your side orders. Then right around the corner, the cashier took our drink orders and rang us up. Service was swift and prompt. We ordered: Beef Rib - Minimum order is 1lb ($44.25/lb). My date declared this dish the best out of everything that we ordered, praising it was moist and tender and gave it a 5/5 rating. Brisket - My date said the briskets had a big layer of fat yet the meat was lean and not very tender and would rate it 3/5. Potato Salad - Usually this is my favorite side but I was not a fan of Blood Bros'. Although it did have some contrasting textures to it, I thought the potato salad was more on the dry side and the dense potatoes made it unenjoyable. It was also too sweet for my liking. I would rate it 3/5. Cucumber Salad - The vibrant contrasting colors of green and red makes it look pretty but the taste is very bland and it had very little crunch to it. I would give this side a solid 1/5. Pimento Cheese and Firecrackers - This is the worst Pimento Cheese dip/spread I've had and the crackers were extremely salty. The cheese had a slight chemical aftertaste and an odd texture to it. I do not recommend ordering this dish and would give it a 1/5. The four slices of white bread that came with the meal were dry and more on the firm side despite being wrapped in clear plastic wrap. Note: There's a 3% surcharge added to all credit card payments.

I got here often with my roommate and always have a great time mix and matching any 6 beers into a 6-pack deal. The fatty brisket and sausage is amazing. I'm adjusting my review to reflect Veronica's willingness to turn this experience into an opportunity. We were looking forward to trying this restaurant while staying at a hotel in Houston for medical treatments. We had it delivered to our hotel and sadly it wasn't the best experience. When we got our order to the room we were missing one side that we ordered. We got Mac n cheese, green beans and potato salad with a brisket/smoked chicken combo and a brisket/ribs. I was shocked to see two pieces of brisket and a chicken breast for $28. Maybe it was an off night but the quality just wasn't there. All the food was cold (our fault bc we ordered it for delivery) and was lacking flavor. Overall, we'd rate it like this: Brisket 3/5 Chicken 2/5 Mac n cheese 1.5/5 Green beans 3/5 Ribs 3/5 Potato salad 2/5 Maybe they were having a bad night but I wish our experience was better.

There are no frills about this place, it honestly just feels like your ma and pa shop. There are a few seats at the restaurant, I think this is a good spot for you to order to go. Here's what we ordered. I got the Fried catfish with green beans and cabbage and my friend ordered the chopped beef sandwich with fries. I definitely had to get some kool aid as well. My fish was cooked to perfection. It was fried hard & the batter was crispy. The batter didn't miss a pinch of seasoning. Probably one of the best fried catfish's I've had. The green beans and cabbage were forgettable. Seasoning wasn't really there except for heat. My friend sandwich was decent. The bread was nicely toasted with butter. The meat could've been more tendered but not bad because it was seasoned. Maybe a little salty but better than bland. The fries was definitely made in house and it was delicious. My kool aid was made just right, sweet. Overall, it was very good. I would come back just for the catfish. They definitely made it with love. Next time I'll try something different along with the catfish as well. Shoutout to Regina, I think she's the owner/manager. Great service.

Roegels Barbecue really impressed me. I've been touring BBQ spots all over Texas for the past…read morecouple years, and I'd say my standards are pretty high at this point. That said--this spot easily makes my Top 5 in Houston. I ordered a pound of brisket, a link of boudin, and three sides: cucumber tomato salad, Texas caviar, and cheesy mashed potatoes. Everything was spot on. The brisket was tender and flavorful with a nice bark, and the boudin had a great texture and spice without being too heavy. The sides were balanced and well thought out--none of them were overly seasoned or trying too hard. They complemented the meat instead of competing with it. The cucumber tomato salad and Texas caviar brought some fresh, tangy contrast, while the cheesy mashed potatoes were creamy and comforting. Also, shoutout to the house-made barbecue sauce--served chilled, which I actually really liked. It added a perfect punch to the plate without masking any of the smoky flavor in the meat. Went pretty late for lunch so it wasn't too packed but definitely a good environment. If you're serious about barbecue, Roegels is worth the trip. I'll definitely be back.
