I came here looking to buy a new used car for myself. I saw they had the specific model I was interested in online and I came in kinda late at night. I was helped by Karina Martinez and she was very attentive and answered all my questions and even stayed late to help me. Since the car was a 2010 I told her I would like to have a close family friend who is a mechanic look at it. She had me sign a paper so I could take the car home for the night. I appreciated that so I could make sure I really liked driving it. My mechanic found a couple things wrong with the car and Karina had the service department fix all of them at no extra charge to me. They even gave me a car to drive while mine was in service. I will add that I didn't do financing through them; I already had gotten a loan from my bank. I've also had good experiences with the service department. Any car purchased here gets free oil changes. I bought my car originally from Clearlake Mazda in 2006. I've been the only driver of this car for 16 years.I put it in DeMondtrond Mazda's shop for routine maintenance ....note...this is the ONLY place that has ever worked on my car in 16 years. They have all of my records and history of all that's been done to it. The car only has 83,000 miles on it I spent $3000 on routine maintenance drove it less than 20 miles, it stopped . Had to have it towed back in . They told me the engine blew up and there was nothing they could do about it. The general manager, Kelly Stewart, is too busy to speak with me about this issue. It's been going on for over two months and all I've received is a phone call from the service manager telling me that he needs his loaner back. The only thing they have offered me is that I could buy a new engine for $8000 and they would waive the labor cost to put it in. This is totally unacceptable to me and I know that they are responsible for blowing up my engine, but since we don't have a service code to attach it to, they will take no responsibility. The only good thing about this place is the sales person. This place will try and steal as much money away from you as possible when you finance. I got stuck paying $5,000 more than the agreed price. There are also hidden fees, or fees that they just outright lie to you about. My drive-out price was supposed to be $23,200, drive-out to me is a price that already includes tax and title. Looking at the paperwork now, including the warranty that I didn't even want I owe $17,700 before interest. Btw I put $10,000 down, so theoretically I am only supposed to owe around $13,200, the extended warranty was about $3,200, so what about the other extra fees? Guess what, it was tax, title, and other fees he never explained. Also they tacked on a extended warranty, the finance guy (Matt Kinard) never explained that this so called extended warranty was optional, in fact he never really explained anything. All he did was tell me what the warranty covered and never said this was a separate package, I thought it was the "Customer Assurance Package" that is included, It definitely was not. He just talked extremely fast and after just gave me paperwork to sign. Although I should have looked at it more closely and it is partly my fault, which is why I have been trying to cancel it. Problem is they've been making me go in circles and it's extremely annoying. Matt Kinard is the guy who did my paper work, when I realized what had happen I called 3 days later to try to cancel it. He says I have to wait for the paperwork to be mailed, I waited a week and not received it, I called again and he said I will get it in the mail. Another week and nothing, I called again and finally he tells me to come pick it up at the dealership, what happened to it being mailed? I go to the dealership and here he is showing me how to cancel, I look it over and seems simple enough, I go home and start filling it out, than suddenly I need a loan number. I call the bank and they say they haven't received the paperwork yet (it's been over 2 weeks), I call the dealer and the dealer says I have to call the bank. I tell them I have called the bank and they gave me more BS on how I have to wait for the paperwork and it takes a couple weeks (it has already been a couple weeks) so now I have no choice but to wait even though I wanted to cancel just 3 days after purchasing. So they have not even submitted it yet and all of this could have been avoided if we re-did the paperwork, it was just 3 days when I asked to cancel, I purchased the car Nov 8, today is Nov 19, and I have been trying to cancel since. Also when I looked at the paperwork there was a bunch of hidden fees that was not mentioned, car was supposed to cost 23,200 drive out, meaning tax and everything is included. Guess what, the loan added on tax and title and everything else. I put $10,000 down and should have been financed only $13,200, well after everything it I am financing $17,000, which is complete BS. Even after I cancel the warranty i would still be around $14,500. That is not drive out price, my fault for not paying closer attention, but I guess I was to trustworthy or naive. I was going to refer friends to the place but no more, they screwed me big time and I am not going to let them do the same to my friends. Mazda of Clear Lake, unfortunately for you, you have lost not just a former customer but a bunch of future customers also. Do not go to this place to buy a car, they will outright lie to you about the cost of the car and tack and other crap that you didn't know was a different package all together. They offer lifetime oil changes, but honestly every dealer except maybe 1 or 2 offered the same thing. Unfortunately for me I have to live with paying more than I wanted, but it was still partly my fault, so it is what it is. I just want to warn other people before they make the same mistake. They lower the price of the car but then make you go through their finance department at 3%t to 7%interest rate, so at the end they get their money back. My dad has been in the car business since he was 19 years old, so I definitely grew up around this kind of atmosphere my whole life. Let me tell you what, Mazda of Clear Lake is really doing it right with customer service and quality of selection! I'm a very picky person when it comes to selecting a car (probably because my dad has made me that way) and it is refreshing to find a place that cares if the customer is happy and not treating me as just another sale in their book before the month ends. I will say, the salesperson was the only good thing about this purchase. The service center will poke and prod you, turn you upside down to get every penny they can. I had a problem with the brakes so I took it in to get it looked over. They found nothing wrong. So my naive self not really being into the mechanics of a car believed them and their paper saying everything was ok. For 3 weeks the same problem was consistently going on. So my wife took it in again. This time, there's all kinds of issues, rotors warped, break pads on the inside were worn to 2 cm, when they were fine 3 weeks ago, supposedly. Now getting to the price, they said it'd be over $550 to replace just the two rotors, and break pads. I called a different brake shop that's been around forever and they quoted me just at $195 - $320 for the same parts and labor. $320 if we needed new rotors. Talk about some price gauging. If it weren't for the free oil changes for life I'd never go back. The oil is the only thing I'll let them do from here on out. read more

I made an appointment with Chris to bring my car in for a mirror repair. On the first visit, they took about an hour to "assess" the problem and determined they didn't have the part. I was quite pleased because they took the extra step and determined the repair was under warranty. I made a second appointment for the following week when the part should be in. I called back before the appointment and asked if they could add an oil change to the service when I was in, and was told "no problem". When I returned at my appointment time, I again reminded them about the oil change. I was waiting and was told it shouldn't take long. Two hours later I asked how it was going and offered to have someone pick me up for lunch and come back later, but I was told they were wrapping it up. Another hour passed, and they finally brought out my car - no oil change. The mirror worked exactly 2 times before it stopped working. When I called Chris and left a message, he never returned my phone calls. Needless to say, I'm taking the car elsewhere to really get the mirror fixed. read more

I bought a 2006 Nissan Maxima here in June of 2013. Granted, it was used, but I was assured that all the maintenance was up to date. This car has been nothing but problems. I was planning to pay off the car within 4 months, but since I had to put 3k into this car to get it up to working condition, I still have a payment hanging over my head. It's my fault for not checking into this more, and I should have followed my instincts and walked out then. Also, my husband doesn't like car payments and when I was alone, the car salesman said my husband didn't "treat me right" because he didn't get me what I deserved. It was ensured to me that if I did not use the warranty they would return 100 percent of my money. Update: This is an update on my 2013 Mazda 3. Beware when you purchase from this dealer I've had nothing but issues since I purchased my car . This is the third time that I'm taking it to the shop for a problem that I've had . The service department is not helpful at all or concerned that I've had this many issues with my car since purchasing it . My car is still under warranty and the third time I took it to the shop they are telling me that it something wrong with the starter and it will cost over $1000 which my warranty doesn't cover ! When I tried to contact Chris Danzelle, the guy who sold me the car his response was what do you want me to do about it I'm in the sales department ! The lack of concern or willing to help in the situation is why I am writing this review . This dealership is very nice when you're initially purchasing the car then once they have your business you are left out there to deal with any problems on the vehicle yourself and they don't even seem concerned to help. I plan on trading this car in and getting a new vehicle ASAP this dealership will put anything on the lot just to get a sale even if it has issues that are known to them before they sold the car . This is not the place to go if you are looking for great customer service. I purchased a car here about a year ago. The car has given me random techno issues that are supposedly typical of Mazda's (which I did not know). I needed the warranty information in order to get the technical issues fixed. I left voicemails for multiple people in the finance department and my calls were not returned. The priority here is to get you in the car. Anything that happens after the purchase is "not their priority". There are better Mazda dealerships around town that offer quality customer service and amenities while you wait. It turns out to be that verbally the finance person ensured us that was a standard deal and now the new management added we needed to have another form (that we doubt it existed in the first place, in order to give us the money back). I requested to see a copy of the papers we signed when we closed the deal, to see if they did have that form they were refering to (as they should have also a copy). The new General Sales Manager, said he would look into the paperwork and give me a call if they would find any proof that the warranty stated that I would get my money back 100 percent if unused. I'm still waiting for that call. Please note the new sales manager "kindly" offered me to recover my warranty money ONLY if I bought a brand new car. That was all he could do for us. Long story short, sadly, I lost $2,250 USD that was promised to be returned to me if unused, which was a LIE!!!! just to get more money from me when I bought my car. To close this review: I was considering buying a new MAZDA before this experience, but this Dealership has tornish the brand's reputation for me. The fact that I deposited my TRUST at the time of closing my deal into a Finance manager and years later they give me the run around tells you what type of business this is. I tried this place last year for leasing a car. That was not a good experience at all! Their price was higher than everywhere and they tried to persuade me with their false information. I m so happy that I never did a purchase with them. Today, I made an appointment with the service section and the only reason is the other Mazda dealerships are so far away from me and I also wanted to use the warranty! Well, I had made an appointment a weak ahead of time. When I got there the guy couldn't find my name, and said do you want to make an appointment now?!! I repeated again that I already have an appointment and then he somehow could find me! Michael was the guy who was supposed to take a look at my car. I had already talked with him on the phone. He had told me that basic problems are under warranty. Today he said it depends, I need to take a look (which made sense), but there is a diagnostic fee! I had a quite long conversation with him on the phone and all I was saying was I want to use the warranty. I don't want to pay for anything. But he never told me there is $100 fee for just figuring out the problem. Well Im glad I left! I called three other Mazda dealerships. They all said since my car is 2016, I don't need to pay anything as diagnostic fee!!! From now on, I ll drive one hour toward inside Houston but will never go to this place. I feel sorry for Mazda. He took really good care of me and my family. He offered to show us every car on the lot! I was looking for cars online, found one I liked and sent an email requesting email only contact. I heard back in under an hour from the sales manager and then shortly thereafter from a sales rep. They didn't call, they emailed like I had requested. I scheduled a test drive and was provided detailed car info before I arrived (carfax). Upon arrival they provided me all of the info in hardcopy, then handed me the keys and allowed me to test drive it without any ride along (it's nice to be trusted in a car you want to purchase). The sales people are great until you've signed the papers and drove off the lot. Then, you're on your own. There service department is rude. Every time I've gone back in for servicing or even questions it always starts pleasant, but the more questions I ask, the more testy they get. I've never gone in and not been told my service fee was at least $150. I needed the valve stem replaced on my tire and they were going to charge me $167. I went down the road to Discount Tire and paid $8 plus tax. WTF? Even when I've gone in for the oil change and tire rotations they've tried to bully me into doing unnecessary things on my car to make me pay for stuff. They make up for the free oil changes in those other services. Not friendly people. read more

My Review of Mazda of Clear Lake: Chris Danzell is an excellent salesman. We didn't feel any pressure when purchasing our new mazda. He was prompt in finding us the model we were interested in. He spent alot of time explaining all of the vehicle features. He actually opened up the owner's manual and went through most of it as well as highlighting a few key pages that he thought we would be interested in. He negotiated everything with the sales manager on our behalf. Chris showed my wife how to use the bluetooth paring for the mazda and her cell phone. He set up our favorite radio stations in the car. He checked on our financing many times too make sure we weren't waiting for nothing. While we were waiting for the sales managers and financing to be finalized, Chris had our car washed and spent a lot of time chit chatting with us. He always gave us an estimate on how much longer the process should take. He smiled alot and gave us eye contact which helped make the car buying experience a lot easier. The quality of work and friendliness we experienced form him is comparable to the quality we get at our bmw dealership for our other car. He asked us what our expectations were, and gave us the car we wanted and around the price range we were looking for. We had been to several dealerships in Houston where we live. We were satisfied with the information, price, and general manner from him. We will definitely call him again when we want to replace our other vehicle. Mazda of Clearlake: We would rate a 4 out of 5. Some of the advertising details could be listed a little clearer, I wish we had received Business cards from the financing and sales manager. We only saw the sales manager once. The finance manager did explain in detail all of the optional finance benefits and expedited our credit approval. I purchased my Mazda 3 from this Mazda of Clear Lake and from the sale to service, over a year later they have been outstanding. The service department maintains and schedules services very efficiently. The dealership offers free oil changes and lives up to their promise. The staff is very friendly and attentive to my needs.. I went to Mazda of CL looking at Cx3s and 5s. I didn't end up purchasing a vehicle ( went with the Nissan Rogue) but really appreciated Kenny Froisy. He didn't put on any of the cheesiness and stupid sales tactics that I have seen in abundance this past week. To put it mildly, it was a breath of fresh air having someone down to earth to talk to. Kizito a used car salesman is the ONLY good thing I can honestly say about the dealership. He was very intent with assisting us in any way possible. The managers and financing manager is another story. First off we agreed on .09 financing and when Kizito took it to the managers to get the monthly payments, they neglected to think we'd check their math because it came back to us with payments adding up to 7% financing charges. Also, the phone operator was very unprofessional, I called one time, they said he was gone for the evening (he actually worked that night until 10pm), I left a message that he never got. Next day I called, she couldn't locate him and then she said he wouldn't be in for the day . I replied that that's not what he told me and she told me very rudely "I'm not his secretary" REALLY My impression of the dealership itself was not good and the dealership is very lucky Kizito was as nice as he was because I would NOT have returned. I think the dealership is lacking TEAM players, making a buck for the moment is more important than returning customers. read more
