Buyer Beware: The "Forever Warranty" Is Anything But I'm sharing this to warn fellow RV buyers: Demontrond's "Forever Warranty" is a misleading gimmick. It doesn't cover what you think it does, and the service experience is a nightmare. Service Department Disaster: The service area looks like a worn-out truck stop. Miss your appointment by 10 minutes due to construction? You're bumped to the back of the line. It took over a month to get my RV back for a simple awning motor replacement -- a motor that had only been used once. Emergency Costs: The salesman gave me the wrong tool for emergency retraction. I had to call an emergency RV repair company and spend $1,000 just to get the awning retracted so I could drive to the dealership -- only to be told the Forever Warranty wouldn't cover the motor. Cleanliness & Atmosphere: The service vibe is awful. The floors are filthy -- even a dirty rag would be an improvement. And yes, there was a 200lb pitbull in the lobby, tied off but intimidating. That alone should've been a red flag. Misplaced Priorities: My advice to Demontrond? Stop spending money on TV ads for two months and invest in a real service area. Live up to your promises. Stop misleading the public. Before you buy an RV, look around. Don't get swept up in the RV dream -- it can quickly turn into a nightmare at Demontrond. The pitbull experience? Optional. I purchased an RV ($79,000) at DeMontrond RV, Texas City. As per the sales contract, the dealer promised to do a complete inspection prior to me picking it up. The first time I drove it, the solar panel flew off the roof because it wasn't fastened down properly (or at all). I never found the solar panel. I contacted the salesman (David), hoping he'd recognize their inadequate inspection that missed the solar panel. He asked that I text him a photo of the missing solar panel. I did. I never heard back from anyone at this dealership. Very disappointing. Their non-response tells me they aren't interested in anything except the intial sale. I gave up hope and bought a solar panel from Camping World and installed it myself. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE, Horrible experience, the only part of buying an RV that was not a hassle was when they were collecting money. Communication has been one sided and getting repairs that were supposed to be done before delivery has been a nightmare! The RV came without stabilization jacks, the screen door was crushed in one of the slide outs, the kitchen island had broken off the base and shifted 6" because it was mounted incorrectly, and numerous other things. This was all supposed to get fixed before they delivered and wouldn't ya know it, it showed up with nothing fixed. So after I paid to have it delivered 300 miles away, expecting no issues since I did a walk through on my 1 day off and got in writing what they'd fix, it has been an uphill battle to get anything done. Countless phone calls, they can't send someone out because its too far or scheduling is a pain, or just plain no call back. This has been hands down the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I paid alot of money and put in alot of time to get screwed and have to do all the work myself. I got a great deal on a new motorhome from Ed Bates, that is where the good time ended. I bought it on 12/14/24. We found a couple of items needed to be fixed or replaced hinges rusty and the door locks to the RV door, do not work. they said they would send replacements to my home (my husband can make the repairs) it is 2/6/25 still no parts! This is the easy part!!! We were given temporary plates and we paid extra for them to hire a titling company to get our Massachusetts plates. I was told "the plates would be home before I was" great! Not only were the plates not there before me, but they are still not here! 2/6/25. I contacted Ed Bates on 1/7/25 to ask about the plates. Ed said the paperwork was sent in. 1/13/25 I texted Ed again, saying no plates no parts. He gave me contact info for ATC automotive titling company. Called them they would not talk to me they only talk with dealers. I texted again Ed Bates on 1/17/25 he passed it on to finance who I never heard from. Ed then texted me, that the title company emailed him on 12/18/24 which he just ignored even though I have been asking him to check into! On 1/23/25 Ed Bates contacted me and my insurance broker to redo paperwork and signatures. Ed confirmed he received the paperwork 1/24/25, I asked what the timeline was to get plates "hopefully 2 weeks". I asked to please put a rush on it, he said he already did Today 2/6/25 I sent another email to Ed Bates asking 3 questions: 1. Please check on my plates. 2. When will I get copies of the contracts/paperwork I signed. 3.the contact info for the service person I spoke to for the hinges and locks. Later today I got an email from Phil Pasternac asking me to fill out the same paperwork I sent on 1/23/25! I have made 2 payments on this rig I cannot go anywhere because I cannot get it inspected until I get plates! when will this end? read more

Their customer service is terrible. My husband and I walked in to check out different rv classes/makes & models, as we are looking to purchase within the next few months. The lady who assisted us around the lot was adamant about only showing us certain models, and not ones we really wanted to check out. She then just left us on the lot after towing us around to five or six of the same exact rv's. She said she needed to help somebody else... then just walked away. So I asked if we could continue to walk around and go inside them, then she waved us off and said sure. We continued to look at multiple other classes and stayed on the lot for about a half hour giving ourselves a tour- meanwhile nobody approached us or asked if we needed help or have any questions. To the older lady: Yes, we look young. Early 20's. But we are serious buyers and don't deserve to be shrugged off like that. Especially if the cash investment is over $100k. We are military and get sent around the lower 48 every year, so this investment is needed. All we wanted was a professional to help show us around and answer our questions. That's how service & sales professionals should be. Do better. read more

I had to give them a one star to be able to post or I wouldn't have even Given them one star. My boyfriend's camper was there for three month. Been dealing with them for four years and no matter what you put on your list for repairs only 80 percent gets done and some that is claimed to be done is not correct. They will drag out time until your warranty voids and you brought it three months in advance. The chair was suppose to have been fixed handle was on the floor. He had a bran new fireplace installed and was suppose to get a remote control. He never received the remote that he ordered twice with them. Damaged the rv in transport from the lot to the shop never admitted fault. They Used the toilet #2 and left it. Never flushed the tanks that came with a lifetime warranty but left this. Never again. RV sales is the easy part. But if something goes wrong, they take their sweet time fixing it. It's been 2 1/2 months since I've seen my new RV. Service Dept rarely answer their phones and if you are lucky, you get to talk to their rude receptionist. She usually does not return messages till a day or two later and with attitude. My last call a man answered & you can hear a bunch of laughing & joking around going on in background. Was told I had to talk w/receptionist but that she was on another call. Funny, she was the one I heard in background laughing and talking with service guys, and she never returned my calls. Customer service sucks. Tom was a very nice, friendly and extremely laid back Salesman. He answered all of our questions and showed us some amazing RV's. They have a great selection in their inventory and if they don't have what you need they could order it for you with your specifications. They really know what they're talking about and they were so helpful and will bend over backwards to help you find what you want, even if you don't know what you want. I had an outstanding experience purchasing a used Class C Motorhome at DeMontrond RV Texas City. Mike in sales was very knowledgeable about the RV, and open and honest about the repairs that needed to be made. He assured us that all the repairs would be made by them prior to completion of the sale. He followed through with everything he said. After the repairs were completed the mechanic Chazton spent over an hour going through everything that he repaired as well as walking through the entire coach explaining how everything operated. His knowledge of the RV was extremely helpful to us. After our walk through, Frank the warranty specialist explained the different options available but never pressured us at all to buy a warranty package. I was really impressed with everyone we came in contact with during our buying experience and will highly recommend DeMontrond RV Texas City to others. I had a blow out 90 miles into my first trip in a used camper Terry Vaughn RV sold me with defective tires. It did extensive damage. On the same trip the slide out stopped working in the out position. I took it to Terry Vaughn in Alvin, 7 months ago, and they still have it. They still can't give me a day it will be done. I've been extremely patient but I'm about to lose it. They offered to pay my $250 deductible as recompense for the 7 months of inconvenience and cancelled trips. I understand that Terry Vaughn RV was bought out by Demontrond RV several months ago so that's who I'm dealing with now. I'm extremely unsatisfied with the service at both businesses. Helen Castillo, my Salesperson was very helpful and kept the process simple as well as Frank in the business office. Be VERY weary of this dealership. I bought a 5th wheel from them about 4 years ago with no problems at all. The service manager Joe went over and beyond all he could do to ensure a pleasant experience. So 4 years later I recommended a buddy of mine to purchase from them as well. The Sales team was great. I came with my buddy to pick up his trailer about 6 weeks ago. First I was shocked to learn that Joe was no longer working there and then when we asked to speak to the manager who replaced him(I believe his name was Thomas) we were told he wasn't in witch I could understand. We proceeded to do our walk through. Right from the start I detected a odor of marijuana coming from my walk through tech. As a police officer for over 20 years I am well aware of that aroma. As we entered the trailer I had to step out as the aroma from the marijuana filled the whole trailer. After doing the complete walk through the gentleman who did my walk though shook our hands and said congratulations on your purchase but did not hook up the trailer to my truck and also did not explain the brake controller. After dealing with Demontrond for so many years and have but countless amount of money into cars, trailers, trucks this will be the last time I will ever return. From the first point of contact with your make ready crew and them obviously being under the influence of drugs just proves to me that Demontrond as a company don't take Drug Policy seriously. I will be sure to pass this story along to anyone in the market looking for a car, trailer, Motorhome etc. Its a shame it has came down to this because like I said 4 years ago it was a pleasure doing business with you and now it seems that since a new manager took over things have gone downhill. Did a TrueCar certificate price guarantee. This place can't match any of that. Dealt with Internet sales person. They quoted me a very good price for a Silverado Z71. Went in, it "just sold". "But, we have other great deals". Supposed to be 0% financing. The manager tells me that financing is no longer available. I look it up on official Chevrolet website and it advertises 0% financing. I call them out on it and they apologize and act clueless. How a manager doesn't know what financing is available is a head scratcher. Then comes the salesman. He promises he can give me the deal they sent me via email. I have email proof and show him the price. They aren't willing to come near that price. In fact, I went to the Chevrolet website and built the same vehicle and it came out $3,000 less. I showed it to the salesman and he was speechless. They then said they'd find me a truck that had been a loaner that has low miles, discounts, and will still have the lifetime warranty. A week later, no response or call. I called today and that exact manager answers. I told him who I was and he played clueless and had no idea who I was when I reminded him who I was. Bottom line, I think I was lied to so they could get me in there. My wife and I called them out on several lies or not telling the whole story. I basically was handing them a sale on a silver platter and they still tried to play games. Unless they have a deal I can't pass up, I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

Bought a car 2/21/2015 and its now 4/17 and have yet to recieved my Plates. Called DMV and county and no paper work was ever sent to them. It been over almost two months now and i have yet receive a call from this Dealer. I'm have been calling countless times to no resolve. Sales guys was awsomeome but there back office teams are the worst in the business. I even purchased another car during this time from another dealer and in less then two weeks I got my medal plates with not issues. No sure why they gave me the story that the DMV was back up. All my life I've been conditioned to grow a healthy distrust of car dealers, but I can honestly say that both Demontrond AND Hyundai have blown a huge hole in my negative preconceived notions. The post-purchase service was to me the biggest surprise. I'm used to them forgetting your existence once you drive off the lot. Not so at this place. I can't believe I am giving a car dealership 5 stars. But then again, I can't believe how wonderful our experiences have been with Demontrond Chevrolet. In 2014 I found the unlimited mileage and time powertrain warranty to be unbelievable. So I had to check it out. It's true. In the end if the repair exceeds the value of fixing the car, they will give you book value for your car - and let you keep the car. Can't beat that. I figger the reason they can offer this is because; who keeps their car that long these days? Our salesman was Tony. Tony was fun to deal with - good sense of humor and low pressure. We determined the exact car we wanted and it was not on the lot. They located one and got the ball rolling to get it there. Then came who has to be Demontrond's pride and joy; Amy in financing. I reckon Amy is magic. She got us unbelievable financing. She had the connections to get it done and will work hard to do the best she can for her customers. If you read this Amy, you rock! We took delivery of our car and it has been great. What happened after the sale is very impressive. This is where other dealers have done their best to make sure we don't return. After about 20,000 miles, my check engine light would come on for a couple days then go off. It did this several times. When I took it in for service I mentioned it to the service guy. He said they would check it out. Shortly thereafter he called me in and told me he needed to keep it as they were going to replace the catalytic converter. The he advised I just needed to sign for my loaner, it was ready to go. I hadn't even asked for one and he had it ready to go. WOW! To make another long story short, the service department also helped us out with another issue on another car that had just sat at another dealership getting nothing done on it. Again they did us right. We have now decided to upgrade our car. I know we are very upside down on it and did not believe they would be able to help but figured we'd talk to Amy to see what it would take to get in a position where we could by the end of the year or so. Well, Amy is performing magic again. Providing they can work a trade to get us the exact car we want (as exactly what we want isn't on the lot again - we are picky but cars are a lot of money - get exactly why you want), we should have our new car early this next week. I'm sorry for those who have had a bad experience here. Ours has been great. read more

Let me start by saying if it weren't for the finance experience and lack of concern after the fact I would have rated them 5 stars so take this for what its worth. Don our salesman was very helpful and supportive and their delivery technician was incredible. This is not the first time i have bought a coach in the ~$200k range and was floored by the finance experience. It was too late when I finally realized there were discrepancies between rates I was told and the final rate, and while this is not a bad, I do not like things hidden from me. I originally turned down the "added things" like tire protection but after we had a final price negotiated the finance manager said, "ok I will throw it in for free". But wait, it wasn't free it was the EXACT amount of a .25% rate difference. so while my payment didn't go up the amount financed DID change. When questioned I was told they used a "coupon" to "buy down my rate". While I appreciate that (sarcasm) you would think buying a $190,000 RV would warrant that type of relationship to begin with. read more

We were coming up on the first anniversary of owning our camper-trailer and wanted to take it in to get service on a laundry list of small things that would still be covered under warranty. In addition to that, we had a back corner ding to be repaired and decided to have a battery on/off switch installed, as well. We called the Demontrond RV Service in Texas City and made an appointment to take it in. The soonest they could schedule us was three weeks out; and that should be an indicator of how much their services are in demand. The staff and service technicians were very helpful and knowledgeable and didn't blink an eye at our list of about 12 things we wanted them to either check on or repair. We were told that it could take up to 3 weeks to get all of the needed replacement parts delivered and installed. In the end, it was 4 weeks before it was ready and we could pick it up. Of all of the items we had them check out, only one replacement bulb for the microwave was unavailable and another item was backordered and will be mailed to us once it comes in. We were delighted with their service and felt like they could not have done a better job for us. Upon receiving our bill, we were not charged for any of the items under warranty or for their labor for any of these installations or corrections. The body repair was excellent and it and the battery switch were very fairly priced. Their service is highly recommended; but this is not something to decide to do at the last minute. It is our understanding that several technicians were working on the camper at different times, and their schedules were set according to the delivery of the different parts needed. But again, we could not have been more pleased with the completed job. read more

We bought a used RV from this dealership. We had a few problems that we wanted to get fixed and they ultimately fixed the problems prior to our purchase. In the end, we found them helpful and cooperative. A special shout out to Steve in the service department who was very knowledgeable and walked us through the operations. Steve seemed to deal honestly and in an upfront manner. Also, a special shout out to the finance manager - just a really nice guy who made the purchase painless. Service department is the WORST. They are incompetent, uncommunicative, and just don't seem to genuinely care. My Hyundai Equus (a $60K luxury sedan!) was there due to multiple dashboard warning lights. They had the car for 29 days (giving it back to me twice, unrepaired, during that time) before finally towing it to Ron Carter to get properly repaired. Not once did their service advisors call with a status other than "it's ready to pick up", car was returned filthier than it was when they got it, appointments were not honored, paperwork was screwed up and not even provided, and advisors are apparently unpunished over such poor customer treatment. Dana McCans, the service manager, was the only one to communicate (after 19 repair days and much frustration on my part) but does not seem to hold employees accountable. General Manager Melissa Demontrond apparently doesn't care to improve her dealership; two phone calls unreturned. Needless to say, my vehicle will be going to Ron Carter in the future after this months' worth of car drama. read more
