I learned about Denali Jeep Excursions from a local Alaskan resident. So glad I met this person…read morebecause I wasn't aware of Denali Jeep Excursions prior to our meeting. You can easily miss this because there is so much to do around Denali. Our tour guides were Nancy and Abby. They were great! I rode with Abby. She was very personable and knowledgeable. I was quite surprised that she was only on the job for a month. Wow! I would've thought that she was on the job for a year or two. She also drove the jeep safely and was very aware of her surroundings. You may book online at Denali Jeep Excursions website. They're offering May discounts so that was helpful. You may flinch at the price but don't! Just do it! It's so worth it. They give you your money's worth for a full four hours of your time. They offer a morning adventure at 6:30 am for all you early birds and an evening adventure at 6:30 pm. I chose the evening adventure. Also, they shuttle you from either their main office in the heart of the Denali village or one of the cruise ship hotels to a location about 10-15 minutes south to where the jeeps are parked. They also have you sign a safety waiver. I was impressed with how both Nancy and Abby practiced safety. The views on the Denali Highway are stunning! Gasoline Lake was probably my favorite. I enjoyed the mirror like surface of the lake. I would do this all over again! Great job ladies! I highly recommend this!!!

Denali Jeep Excursions - We were lucky and got a perfect view of Denali. Our guides were careful to watch the clouds so we arrived at the best spot at the exact time

Our guide, Eric, was incredibly…read moreknowledgeable and passionate about the Alaskan Boreal forest, and it was obvious within minutes that this was far more than a job to him. From plants, lichen, and wildflowers to moose droppings, spruce bark beetles, and the delicate balance of the ecosystem, he made every step of the trail fascinating. Even though we didn't spot any wildlife, I never once felt like we missed out because the forest itself felt so alive with stories. The pace was comfortable, the views over the Nenana River were beautiful, and I walked away feeling like I had learned far more than I expected. If you enjoy nature, learning, and getting off the beaten path a bit, I highly recommend this experience.

Unfortunately,…read moretwo of the hikers were not up to a strenuous hike, so it only covered about half the distance it was supposed to. Not sure how best to fix this. Maybe Denali Backcountry Guides ask everyone at time of booking "This is a strenuous hike covering x miles and y elevation gain. Do you feel capable of making that hike?" I don't know. Just know it is disappointing to book a strenuous hike, then go slowly and only cover half. The guide was knowledgeable and the hike was good. With a different group of hikers, it would be 5 star.

It's nice that the public can't go the whole distance thru, that way it keeps traffic minimal and doesn't disturb the wildlife.

From the moment we arrived, the immense landscape of tundra, mountains, and glaciers stretched out before us, reminding us how small we really are in the natural world. The vast open spaces encourage slow exploration, whether you're on a bus tour, hiking along a riverside, or just stopping to watch wildlife. We saw moose, caribou, and even distant bears -- real wild animals in their natural habitat -- which was unforgettable. The shuttle system into the park (which limits private vehicles) makes sense given how pristine this place is kept, though it does mean planning ahead and sometimes long days on the bus. We learned that weather can be unpredictable -- Denali itself was hidden in clouds a good part of our visit -- but even without a clear view of the peak, the surroundings were spectacular. The hiking opportunities are more backcountry-oriented, so if you love getting off the beaten path and embracing rugged terrain, Denali delivers. If you're expecting paved trails and easy viewpoints like other national parks, you might find it a bit raw -- but that's exactly why we loved it. All told, Denali is a must-visit for anyone who wants to experience true Alaskan wilderness -- rich wildlife, dramatic landscapes, and a sense of isolation that few other parks offer. Just pack warm layers, be ready for limited services, and give yourself time to soak it all in.

It's a pleasure to write this review because this is the "can't miss" experience in Denali! I've…read moreenjoyed almost every kind of tour all over the world and this was definitely top 10 out of 100 and maybe even top 5. First, the safety policy and procedures are flawless & while the guides love to have a great time, they take safety seriously as only a Master of their Craft can! Dev & Kyle worked together like a well oiled machine and had infectious attitudes & passion for life! When I write words of praise for Dev & Kyle, you might read it as just trite sayings but you can review my past reviews and you will see some very direct & critical comments so my words of praise were 100% earned by Dev & Kyle. The course was fun & challenging so if you are scared of heights...this is the perfect fit to face your fears and overcome them with professionals! I taught mountaineering my Summer before Senior year of Military High-school & was insanely impressed with their attention to detail, safety protocol, communications and redundancies. I gave the ATV tour some critical remarks and stand by them but equally stand by my words of praise for this crew! We are a family of six and brought our four kids with us: 8-14. The guides were just superb - even the other guide we interacted with was a ball of positive fire! It's a great group of people and while the lines aren't the tallest or the longest or the highest...it was by far the most unique & diverse and definitely the longest experience to date. One recommendation - It would be great if the operator provided bug spray as a relatively low cost comfort but definitely bring your own!

The incident occurred on August 26th.  We were traveling from Fairbanks to Denali on a Princess…read morecoach and our driver was having an issue during the drive because the bus was getting buffeted by high winds.  I've attached the National Weather Service Wind Advisory for that day for your information. Upon arrival at Denali, I contacted  Denali Zipline Adventures and stated that my 72 year old wife and I, "did not feel safe" participating in the zip line experience because of the advisory.  I spoke with Kelsey the manager and expressed our concerns.  Kelsey stated that they were very experienced and were confident that it would be Ok. I reiterated my concerns and the feeling that we "did not feel safe" participating on that day. Kelsey refused to accommodate us and stated that we could do the excursion the following day.  That was not possible because the wind advisory extended to the following day and we were scheduled to depart the following morning. The Denali Zipline Adventures website clearly states that "Safety is our Primary concern" and it also states that winds of 30 mph are sufficient to cancel an event. I have screen shots of the National Weather Service posts for proof but can't post them here... Judge for yourself if you would risk your family for an organization that says Safety First" but really means "Money is First"!
