The amazing variety is almost a bit overwhelming but fortunately the employees here are not only very knowledgeable but also extremely helpful. The employees walked me through options. They read through ingredients. They have always been very warm and welcoming. This was a store that made me feel like part of a broader community. The quality of the product has been high. I bought a cat tunnel during my first visit and is the best tunnel I have purchased. It has held up through crazy cats pouncing on it, trying to bite through it during play, and running through it with wild abandon. I live next door to this MudBay location and my medical alert service animal who is a retired Marine cadaver canine, visit regularly. Challenges with different collars and harnesses are met with supportive staff, easy return/exchanges and top notch product selections of food, treats and general animal supplies. While not the easiest location to get to, the Mercer Island location is one of the more convenient ones from my home. They do have a few parking spots in the covered garage, but you'll need to go outside to get to the store. Fortunately the entrance is close by. Haven't been to Mud Bay in a long time, but decided to go today because we need some particular food...easily digestible but tasty food for our dog who is terminally ill and very selective with eating certain food right now. So glad we popped into this Mercer island location! All of the staff were super helpful in picking out food and making suggestions for us! Haven't met a Mud bay that we don't like! And this one's no exception! It's nice to have baci's favorite spot on the island since we frequent coming here. Starbucks, beach, that swimming spot and mud bay! All of my pup's spots! We mainly get all our fun treats here, not meals since we cook for him at home. But they still have great/quality/protein rich treats with few ingredients! The pumpkin ice cream, the beef taffy, the freeze dried shredded chicken, their super fun cheesy biscuits! This Mud Bay is located conveniently in the business district of Mercer Island. Their policies are the same as all the other Mud Bay policies - free dry food samples at the front, etc. This Mud Bay doesn't feel as friendly/inviting as the other Mud Bays I've been to, although the layout is pretty nice here. When I'm on Mercer Island with my dog we'll come here for a treat or to pick up some dog food. It's located in the Downtown Mercer Island area along the business corridor, with a large private parking lot. In our most recent visit here we had just visited nearby Luther Burbank Park, but needed to pick up some extra dog food for the baby. As soon as we parked one of the employees was right at the door, waiting for us to come inside. She squealed about my pug, and said that she had seen us from the parking lot and just had to come say hello as soon as possible. It was so sweet, and anyone who falls in love with my dog is instantly a friend of mine! While the employee was spoiling my dogs with complimentary treats at the register I picked up a can of grain-free dog food for my dog's dinner. They have a ton of healthy, high-quality dog food items, and the staff is very knowledgeable about their products. There's also a treat bar area where you can pick your own, as well as raw food items. Plus, they participate in Santa pet photo events with a local organization, which of course is a must for any parent with a furry baby! And I suggest checking out the wall of pictures of dogs who are owned by the staff here. It's clear that the people who work here are dog people AKA the best kind of people! read more

I'm an out-of-towner and was in need of dog food and know of Mud Bay. BUT I seem to be an outlier in the "welcoming and friendly" fan club. I went into the store this morning to zero acknowledgment of my existence even though there were 2 employees. No greeting, no eye contact. Mudbay will always get 5 stars from me. I was running late and did not have time to get Niner his sack of food. Not wanting to go back to the UVillage and get caught in the evening cluster fcuk coming off the 520, I headed over the 90 to visit the parents and stopped at this location. The stores are mirrored pretty much the same so as soon I walked in I knew where I was going and where to find Niner's Taste of the Wild. The only food that won't constipate him and give him diarrhea in domino effect. Why is diarrhea so hard to spell? Service is always dog gone good. read more

I love this place so much, I am a huge fan of healthy, high quality products for my two cats. The workers here are so amazing, so nice and makes the atmosphere a lot more cheery than All the Best Pet Care. They have a wider variety of things and they open till 9pm which is a huge plus for people living on the island. I just love the customer service here, I talk with the workers and they are just so nice, knowledgeable and helpful. I love this store! The staff is great - very friendly and knowledgeable without being pushy. The have a nice selection of most things, especially food. They can help find the right food for your pet's needs. If you're a regular customer they remember you and your pet. They make you feel so welcome whether you're visiting for the first time or the fiftieth. I trust the products they carry for the good quality and for the value. And they stand behind everything they sell. If something doesn't work out they will take it back and help you find something else. She would have probably given them to me regardless if I bought anything. This tells me that they want their customers to be completely satisfied over making a profit. The manager had told me that their prices were often better than what I would find at other stores, and I thought, "This can't be true..." So I tried to prove him wrong, but I failed. If you're looking for Wellness or BG-brand wet cat food, Mud Bay's prices beat Petco, Pet Pros and All the Best Pets. Hooray!! Full selection of flavors - including the larger 5+oz cans! :-) The only reason I didn't give 5-stars is because I really wish they had more options for raw cat food. My cats don't like the two varieties Mud Bay carries. Mud Bay is the best! The last time I had a dog, I bought all of his necessities (and his un-necessities like an excessive amount of toys and clothing) at big, bad chain stores like Petco. This time around, I started coming to Mud Bay, which conveniently opened up shop just a mile from my home. The first couple times I came in here, I have to admit, I always wondered how on earth they kept this location open since I rarely saw other customers in there and it was relatively expansive (especially compared to the cramped, stuffed-to-the-ceilings Capitol Hill location, which has equally great service). Now I know. It's simple: they carry great products and hire great people, so I keep going back again...and again...and again. They have all kinds of food for the needs of many different dogs and when my teething puppy started getting picky about food, the knowledgeable employees -suggested different types of food, -sent me home with handfuls of samples without a blink of an eye, -and happily special-ordered food for me and gave me a $2 off coupon when the food came in late. Once, a couple weeks ago, when it seemed that my puppy had settled on a food, I went to buy the 5 lb. bag; Mud Bay was out of that so I bought the 15-lb. bag...only to have my dog get sick of it a week later and refuse to eat it. Even then, Mud Bay happily took that bag back without any qualms at all. While some of the food here is higher priced than what you might find at Petco/Petsmart/grocery stores, the added nutrition is worth it. If I were a dog, I wouldn't want to survive on a diet of Lunchables and bread without any recourse (seeing as I would lack the opposable thumbs to drive to the store and buy my own bag of nutritious dog food), so I don't subject my dog to that either and I don't mind paying more. Plus, they have a great selection of high-quality toys (read: nontoxic materials and won't be torn apart in minutes) and treats. And the employees, without fail, always greet my puppy enthusiastically. Can't really ask for more than that, right? read more

I went into this location today with my Golden to grab some cat food. We were immediately greeted by an associate who asked if he could give my puppy a treat :^) Despite my dog acting like a jerk, the sales associate was so great and friendly! During check out, the other sales associate tried to convince my dog he was friendly by giving him even MORE treats! Even though my dog didn't like the two men, I loved chatting with them during my visit. I didn't find them arrogant at all, as one reviewer stated.
